Dinner @Plan B, Midvalley

*A long overdue post* hehe….

A dinner I had at Plan B, few days before I went into labour. LOL!

My first visit to Plan B at Midvalley was memorable. Therefore I suggested to Alex to settle our dinner here.

I told him that I wanted to eat so many things before I go into labour. Somehow the space in my stomach restricted me from doing so 😦

Plain water is free of charge and refillable.

Alex ordered a cuppa Latte

Wild Mushroom Soup – RM13

finished with a swirl of cream

The mushroom soup was so rich and creamy with chunks of mushroom. I doubt I could finish all by myself.

Some of my friends complimented that their Asian Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (RM26) is good. Therefore I thought why not give it a try. Soft shell crab, cili padi, crispy curry leaves & chili flakes in creamy butter sauce. I find it quite nice. Something we don’t come across in other restaurant cooking this way. The creamy butter sauce reminds me of crabs cooked with creamy butter sauce from those ‘tai chow’ restaurants. Yumss… By the way…. it wasn’t spicy pun….

Turkey Ham & Cheddar Toastie – RM17

with sweet potato fries and side salad.

Check out the turkey ham + cheese sandwiched in between 2 slices of fresh butter toasted bread. I like the sandwich, I also like the sweet potato fries. It is  interesting to serve sweet potato fries rather than the usual french fries which is quite common.

Ahh…when come to desserts, especially cakes..I am always spoiled with choice!! Finally I made a wise decision to choose Caramel Chocolate Banana Cake (RM11) to dapao back home. Really love the richness of this cake. Chocolate & banana can never go wrong! *abang adik* hehe….

I will visit again to try other food from their menu!

Twelve Cupcakes @Sunway Pyramid

I noticed this cupcake shop when I happens to be in Sunway Pyramid. Being a sweet tooth person, I got attracted by the varieties of cupcakes sold here. However I was kiamsiap to make any purchase. LOL!!

Then, one day I read about twelve cupcakes reviewed by Sean. He wrote some positive feedback about the cupcakes. (Located next to Wendy’s, facing the ice skating rink. )

Twelve Cupcakes, Singapore’s award-winning cupcakery. These freshly baked cupcakes are handmade from scratch every day. At Sunway Pyramid is their first outlet available in Malaysia. Next, will be opening soon at One Utama Shopping Mall and Midvalley Megamall.

So, I took 1 step forward to make my purchase. Not many lar…. I only bought 3 to try. hehehe…..But I stood in front of the display glass for several minutes because I couldn’t decide which to choose. All flavors look yummy to me. There are some special flavors made for every month.

Assorted flavors. Spoil with choice.

The above 12 flavors are available daily. Price of each cupcake is RM6. While for special flavors is RM7 each. RM34 for 1/2 dozen and RM66 for 1 dozen.

A kind reminder about the cupcakes.

I had a heavy dinner on that day. So, I kept these cupcakes for the following day. It was still good and tasted nice although I kept it overnight.

From left:-

PB CHOCOLATE
Fluffy peanut butter frosting on a moist
chocolate cupcake. This is peanut butter like
you’ve never tried it – really smooth!
RED VELVET
Fluffy vanilla cream cheese on a classic red velvet. This is our bestseller and a must-try!
CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE
Chocolate cream cheese on a moist
chocolate cupcake. Chocolate lovers
love this.

Cupcakes are sometimes too sweet (tooth killer) because of the overly sweet frosting. But not for the cupcakes here. I felt the sweetness are just nice. The cakes are moist too. I was very satisfied with all 3 flavors I’ve chose. I wanna buy again!! Hahaha…..

My technique of eating cupcake just like THIS. Cut the cake into 1/2 then sandwich it. Less messy this way…. 😉

Brunch @Noodle House, Sibu

Last Thursday, Alex & I were back to Sarikei. Before arriving Sarikei, we’ll stop at Sibu. I decided to plan a meet up with my blogger friend, Arthur (aka Suituapui or nama gelaran Sibu Food Mayor). I sent him a message a week earlier to make an appointment with him. hehehe….

Upon arriving Sibu airport, Alex’s friend Tony came to pick us to the assigned destination. During my earlier conversation with Arthur, he asked what would I like to eat. I told him… we probably could only manage to makan at one spot. I did not wanted any Kampua Noodles…because I knew I’m gonna be having that on my entire stay in Sarikei. So, I told Arthur… I want that Mille Crepe. I also want that fried kompia! Ok set! Arthur said; then we go Noodle House.

From airport, we took around 1/2 hour to reach Noodle House. Arthur texted me wondering if we could locate the place or sesat already. The building is kinda hidden behind the main road. With the help of GPS and also I remembered the color of the building, we found our meeting place. LOL!

It was still early, so the place was quite vacant. Was browsing through the menu (the food selections here are not bad), asking recommendations from Arthur. He said NO NO NO..on certain dish, we avoid ordering that. When he said… YES with approval means that tasted good based on his observation 😉

Can you imagine we ordered desserts first before looking at the main meals? LOL!!

Foodie at work! ^_^

A cuppa hot White Coffee (RM3.50) for myself. Nothing great about the coffee. More like instant coffee.

I wanted to try their mille crepe! So we chose one. According to Arthur, the Rum & Raisin (RM7.80) is nice. Not too sweet. Well, true enough. It wasn’t too sweet and each layer were nicely done. Not too dry nor too much cream either. However the rum taste was quite mild. Furthermore the price is alot cheaper than what we are getting here in KL.

We only ordered 2 types of desserts. I did not want them to occupy my tummy space. I need to leave some for the other dishes here. hehe…. This was my second time trying Creme Brulee. The first one was at Fullhouse Lifestyle Store & Cafe. Was a good one. Here at Noodle House, the Creme Brulee (RM7.0) was nice too. Rich and wobbly custard topped with caramelized sugar.

There were several choices of sizzling dish (kampua) on the menu. Alex & Tony had Sizzling Pepper Beef Kampua (RM9.50). It was served hot. Alex said; “Waahh…this is ‘high class’ kampua. I’ve not eaten kampua served this way!” LOL! This was nice lo… the noodle and the black pepper beef + gravy combines well. I curi-ed makan a slice of beef meat. The meat was tender and tasty!

I am a rice person now! I wallop the whole bowl of rice okay. This Stewed Pork Rice (RM7.20) was nice. The meat portion (stewed pork slices & minced pork) not stingy.

Here, there are 3 different types of filling for their fried kompia. Minced Meat Kompia, Pork Belly Kompia & Cheese Spicy Chicken Kompia. I went for the ordinary filling. So, above is Minced Meat Kompia (RM3.50).

and this is the Pork Belly Kompia (RM4.50). I felt both were good. Although the kompia was fried, its not dry or too oily.

Happy diners? Arthur did not order any main dish for himself. He said he already had kampua that morning before meeting us :-p

I couldn’t remember what was so funny in this photo. Hmm… I think Arthur was mentioning something about ‘tummy’ thing 😀

Okay…. a proper photo. 😉

1240275_10151733118702740_1598868379_nArthur remembered I commented on his blog that I’ve not tried Tee Piang before. (He has good memory. Dun play play) He bought me some Tee Piang (with and without meat filling) and some Chicken Pie. Hey… these are precious. Couldn’t find it here wan. Tee Piang is made of soya bean pulp. It smells like ‘wadeh’ may be because of the fragrant from shallot. I like the one with meat filling (like the char siew pao filling). I especially like the Chicken Pie. The pastry was nice…and the filling was so full.

It was nice meeting Arthur in person rather than exchanging comments on our blogs all the time. He has that ‘serious’ looking face… but actually a nice person after meeting him. hehehe….

My Tea Break @CAFFEine; Setiawalk Puchong

My daily caffeine boost has to be at least a cuppa coffee. But usually I’ll just bancuh my cheap 3in1 coffee…hehehe…..

Caffeine is a bitter substance found in coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate, kola nuts, and certain medicines. But in this case…obviously we are referring to their drinks.

One day, I saw my friend posted photos of this cafe on his Facebook. Nice drink and cake I saw. I decided to give it a try and dragged Alex to bring me to Setiawalk. I noticed there are more and more cafes offering coffees and cakes here at Klang Valley. Anyway, this would be beneficial to us, the consumers…where we will be spoil with choices. Agreed? 😉

A very simple interior. Located at 1st floor right above Share Tea.

Free Wifi and some old-skool board games are also available here.

The drinks menu are neatly written on a chalkboard.

Freshly baked cakes and muffins. The cakes looked so good. I couldn’t decide which one to go for.

Ohhh…homemade ice cream by FatBaby is also available here! Isn’t that great to have some homemade ice cream. In terms of ingredients, much natural I suppose.

Again…I’m required to choose. I like salted caramel….at the same time I also like peanut butter wor. So, I ended up choosing ‘peanut butter’ flavor. hehe….

The ice cream is quite smooth and has nice taste of peanut butter. But not very strong. Size of cup is around 6cm in diameter.

Ohh ya…the friendly barista handed 2 additional flavors for us to sample. (not the whole cup okay) :-p

Chocolate : Very rich chocolate taste. Ermm…a lil bitter after taste.

Apple Crumble : Nice and fruity!

It was a hot afternoon. I really feel like having a cold drink. Therefore I chose Iced Electro Choc – RM11. (made from Irish cream, hazelnut coffee, milk and cocoa powder). Nice layers of drink I had. Wow…I did not expect an iced drink comes with coffee art too!! Thought I could only see the coffee art on hot drinks. *claps* I would say this drink is nice. Very smooth too. Hmm…kinda reminds me of latte.

Quench my thirst with a glass of Iced Electro Choc. To me, the serving size is quite big.

There you go…my choice of cake, Chocolate Baileys Cake – RM19.50.

A rich chocolate mousse cake topped with crunchy and crispy caramelized hazelnut. However I find it kinda pricey for a slice of cake. But this slice of cake is really good lar….

Come…take a closer look. Layers of chocolate mousse and sponge. The mousse part is rich and smooth. While the sponge part is very moist. Makes it a great combo!

Brunch @ TiPsy Brew O’Coffee, Setiawalk Puchong

My previous visit to TiPsy Brew O’Coffee, Setiawalk Puchong was during tea time, enjoyed a cuppa coffee at this cozy place while waiting for the movie to begin.

Then I told myself, I want to come back here to try their cakes and food!

So, I decided to revisit this place over the weekend.

2013-04-21 11.59.35

Recently…Alex is soooo busy with his Candy Crush game! By passing my level although he started to play later than me. But I’ve neglected the game for quite sometime…lazy la… LOL!

2013-04-21 12.04.04

Alex with his order; Cappuccino – RM8.90. I was like…cappuccino again? Don’t you want to try something else? @_@

2013-04-21 12.03.42

Can I call myself a coffee lover without having much knowledge about coffee? I saw this familiar name on the menu called Macchiato – RM7.90. I decided to give it a try. ~To broaden my ‘knowledge’! HAHAHA!

‘Macchiato’ simply means ‘marked’ or ‘stained’, and in the case of caffè macchiato, this means literally ‘espresso stained/marked with milk’. Traditionally it is made with one shot of espresso, and the small amount of added milk was the ‘stain’. (source from wikipedia)

2013-04-21 12.07.55

Look…my cuppa macchiato is so small huh. My face is so much bigger that the cup. Oh my gosh! Yaya…I know..that is the way macchiato been served.

Yes, indeed macchiato has richer coffee taste!

2013-04-21 12.13.05

Turkey Sandwich – RM9.90

Turkey Roll, Tomato, Lettuce, Alfalfa, Mustard sandwiched in choice of bread; white or wholemeal.

2013-04-21 12.09.19

In their menu, there were only 2 types of noodle – Thai Laksa & Mee Rebus. I wish they could have more choices. Here, I chose Thai Laksa – RM10.90. The noodle texture is nice. Hmm…something like thick type of rice vermicelli. The broth wasn’t really spicy. It tasted quite similar to Nyonya Laksa . But I would preferred a creamier broth. hehe….

2013-04-21 12.21.55

The freshly baked Cranberry Scone is priced at RM3.80 each. Its crumbly, not hard and has nice fragrant of butter. Served with cream and blueberry jam.

2013-04-21 12.35.42

While I was looking at the selections of cakes..I asked one of the staff. Which would you recommend. She recommended a few..I can’t really remember them. But Toffee Banana was one of the recommended ones. Both toffee and banana are my favorite. Toffee Banana Cake (RM8.90) was very fresh, light and spongy! Toffee and slices of bananas are sandwiched between layers of spongy cake. Beneath is a thin layer of biscuit crumb. BTW…It was a really nice gesture. To draw a snoopy on the plate using chocolate sauce. This person must be quite artistic.

An interesting picture I saw on Facebook today. So, which is your type of coffee? And what your coffee says about you? My favorite pick is Latte. Latte says “you’re reflective, but often indecisive. In the world of unknowns, you like the safe picks”. OMG! Sounds quite accurate leh…

McCafe is now available in Seremban!

Yippie! Good news for the Seremban folks. The long awaiting McCafe is now available in Seremban. Ok lar…I know I’m the eagerly waiting one. LOL!

Currently there’s only 1 McCafe in Seremban. It is only 1 week old. Located at Tesco Seremban 2.

So far I only visited McCafe once, when it was newly opened in KL.

At McCafe you can enjoy assorted coffee with an affordable price. I meant comparing to other branded* coffee outlets. ^_^

What is McCafe?

McCafe is a coffee-house-style food and drink chain, owned by McDonald’s.

McDonald at Tesco Seremban 2 is quite spacious. Now, they have allocate this section into McCafe.

You’ll probably like to check out the price before placing your order.

For hot drinks, there are 3 sizes. Small, Regular & Large.

Cakes and muffins for you to pair with your drinks.

Mummy had Americano (Regular) – RM5.50. She claimed the coffee is nice.

I had Flat White (Regular) – RM5.50. I also added some chocolate powder and vanilla powder onto my drink. Hehe….the chocolate & vanilla powder are available at counter. You may add as much as you like. I like my cuppa Flat White too. 😉

Marcus had Iced Mocha (Regular) – RM6.50. It looks like 3 layers tea. LOL! It tasted good also…

I was tempted to order the Chocolate Lava Cake – RM7.50.

Check out the oozing runny chocolate from the cake. OMG! My cake is flooded with chocolate! Me likey* The chocolate cake was warm & moist too.

Satisfying coffee fix of the day. (No regrets)

*Dunno why my face look so swollen here =_=

Curious on this equation. Hot drink + Happy face = Time??

They also served cakes. I saw their cakes look quite good. I shall save it for my next visit! 😉

20130217_151658My Cafe Latte – RM8.90

20130217_151619His Cappuccino – RM8.90

20130217_151108Forty Licks claimed as handcrafted ice cream using only the best ingredients, with no additives or preservatives. There were several other flavors…but I chose to try Salted Caramel (RM7.20) because I heard so much from people.

20130217_151302It was a good choice of choosing salted caramel. Not overly sweet. Hint of saltiness and sweetness of caramel!

20130217_151348

“Forty Licks, because one lick just isn’t enough.”

Sorry…I lost count on how many licks I made :-p

Nice Coffee @ La Roasteria Coffee, Seremban 2

I am delighted to know that there’s a decent cafe for me to tarn kopi (enjoy coffee). I meant like those in KL…aromatic coffee with pretty coffee art on it..Also, I received good reviews from some friends who had tried their coffee.

Recently I found out that they’ve opened another outlet at Seremban 2..which is nearer to my mom’s house. The main outlet is at Seremban town (Jalan Kong Sang).

La Roasteria Coffee is the name of the cafe.

Nice ambiance. Isn’t it? Its a good thing that we can have brunch or have a drink with friends in this lovely place. In Seremban, we have very limited choice of places like this. Unlike in KL, people are spoiled with choices and places for brunch.

Other than coffee, they do serve these freshly baked scones and also cakes.

I came here for brunch. So, lets order something to fill our stomach.

I wanted light coffee, so I ordered a cuppa Caffe Latte – RM7.20.

*A heart shape for me*

Bro had Cappuccino – RM7.20. Pretty coffee art right?

While mummy had Mocha – RM8.

I chose to order sandwiches. I picked Butter Croissant with Fried Wild Mushroom filling – RM9.80. Choices of bread are Butter Croissant, Ciabatta, Panini, Baguette. On menu stated, “Fried Wild Mushroom filling” is recommended. Unfortunately I find it rather dry and tasted too mild. However I do like their butter croissant. Fresh, flaky and buttery!

Creamy Chicken Mushroom Pie – RM12.80. A savory pie with chicken filling. Light, flaky and buttery pastry. Comes with creamy soup. This was good!

Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese – RM10.80 was just average.

Can’t leave without having dessert. There wasn’t much choice of cake during my visit. I chose Moist Chocolate Mud Cake – RM7.80. Indeed very moist. Rich chocolate taste too. The cake was served warm. Therefore I thought it would be perfect if they added a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the cake.

Soon after I uploaded this colorful photo collage on my FB, friends got excited and drop by La Roasteria Coffee the following day.

Verdict : Simple and nice cafe to catch up with friends and have a drink. Recommended to try their coffee and cakes!

Hamburg Steak on Sis’s Birthday

On Sis’s birthday, I suggested to mom that we make a simple dinner at home.

I guess nothing beats a comfort home cooked food!

I then told mom, why not we make hamburg from scratch. Mom agreed to it.

I think I’m in love with hamburg after trying one from Waku Waku. hehe….

I was looking for the recipe, then I recalled Baby Sumo did blog about it.

Here’s the recipe from Baby Sumo.

(I uses pork instead of beef)

Hamburg Steak (Hambāgu)

Recipe adapted from No Recipes
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 20-25 minutes
Makes 6-8 (depending on how big you make your patties)

Ingredients

1 large egg
1 small onion, finely diced
1 large clove garlic, minced
450g minced pork
170g silken tofu
1 cup mixture of fresh breadcrumb and crushed crackers (2 slices bread and 5 crackers)
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp parsley, minced
1 tsp light soy sauce
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp cooking oil
For the sauce
1/2 cup chicken stock (I uses Maggi chicken cube stock)
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp tonkatsu sauce (I substituted with Worchestershire sauce)
1 tbso demi-glace (couldn’t find this in KL so omitted)
1. In a frying pan over medium high heat, add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and sauté half the onions until golden brown and caramelized. Allow to cool to room temperature.
2. Combine the pork, tofu, sautéd onions, raw onions, garlic, fresh breadcrumbs and crackers, egg, ketchup, oyster sauce, parsley, soy sauce and black pepper in a large bowl. Put some disposable gloves on and knead the mixture together until it is uniform in color and texture.

3. Add a little bit more oil to the frying pan that you fried the onions in and place over medium heat. Because the patties are on the soft side, you’ll want to form them and add them directly to the pan. The patties should be around 1″ thick.

4. Fry them until they’ve formed a dark brown crust on one side, about 1 1/2 minutes then use a spatula to carefully flip them over and brown the other side. Unless you have a very large pan, you won’t be able to do them all at once, so fry 4 at a time and transfer them to a plate when they’re browned on both sides. Don’t worry if they’re not cooked all the way through as they will finish cooking in the sauce.

5. After you’ve fried all the patties, drain off any excess oil (but don’t wash the pan as the brown stuff is what will give your sauce flavor). Add the chicken stock and boil until it’s reduced by about half in volume. Add the ketchup, water, Worchestershire sauce, and demi-glace (if using) and stir to combine.

6. Place the patties back into the pan, cover, and cook for 7 minutes, flipping them over once in the middle. Cook uncovered for another 3 minutes to thicken the sauce a little

The shaped up patties that are ready for frying.

With the help from mom, we made this hamburg steak. Eaten as burger!

Nom Nom…its a good recipe. The patties are tasty and yummy! My niece especially enjoyed eating this ‘burger’ 😉

Mummy’s hardwork on these Pai Tee. It was her 1st attempt. No wonder those selling in restaurants are expensive. To fry the mould/hat is quite tedious.

On Sis’s birthday 2 weeks ago…we had this Strawberry Tart from RT Pastry House.

If you are a fan of Mousse cake and a fan of white chocolate, I’m sure you will love this. Smooth white chocolate mouse with a thin layer of sponge cake and biscuit crumbs coating the whole cake. The cake is very fresh! But the strawberries are quite sour. Hahaha….8in (1 kg) for RM63.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS! ♥

Brunch at The Muffin House, Seremban

I remember I once visited this place when it was quite new. But was few years ago. Opppss…..tee hee..

That time they were more into serving muffins. I also remember the muffins were good.

Weekends, we’ll usually just settle our lunch around Seremban 2 area. Because lazy to go down town..The other day, out of sudden, I got the idea to come here for brunch. So, I decided to date mummy. ^_^

A simple looking cafe, nice to hangout with friends and family.

Simple menu with pages of sandwiches, pastas and drinks.

The Muffin House, practice self-service. Place and pay your order at the counter.

Mummy ordered a cup of Black Coffee for RM4.90.

I like my cuppa Caramel Cappuccino – RM6.50. Aromatic coffee with nice hint of caramel taste, which is not too sweet.

Mummy likes her Chicken Pepperoni Spaghetti with Mushroom sauce – RM10.90. I was surprised with the serving method. Instead of the usual porcelain plate, they uses big paper cups. From the look, I’m gonna guess that, they 1st placed the cooked spaghetti in the paper cup, next pour in the creamy mushroom sauce, topped with slices of pepperoni then finally they heat it/ placed in the microwave?

My Smoked Chicken Spaghetti with mushroom sauce – RM10.90 was good also. Topped with slices of smoked chicken with drizzles of BBQ sauce. The not too creamy mushroom sauce won’t make you feel ‘jelak’.

My only complain for this spaghetti is the portion abit small for me. HAHAHAHA!!!

At The Muffin House, they sell assorted flavors muffins.

Types of muffins they served.

Other than muffins, they do have assorted cakes too.

I chose ‘Marble’ Muffin for RM4.90, about the size of my palm. I would say the muffins are worth eating. They are moist and not too flaky.
