SNOWALK @i-City Shah Alam

The weather was really hot during Chinese New Year. Where can we go for a cooler weather? Other than Shopping Malls or turning on my home air-cond, lets go to SnoWalk at i-City Shah Alam! Literally I name it giant size refrigerator. LOL LOL.

During the past Christmas, Jet asked me why aren’t we getting any snow? (that’s how he imagined Christmas). Aww…I’m pretty sure everyone likes White Christmas. I too wished we will get snow here…. 🙂

Hence, Snowalk at i-City Shah Alam will be the nearest point compared to Genting Highland. My previous trip to Genting Highland, I didn’t get the chance to visit the Snow World because it was closed for refurbishment.

There we ample of parking at i-city, basement parking and also open air parking. The parking fee is RM 3 per hour with a maximum of RM 10 per day.

The new admission ticket price for Snowalk has increased very much compared to last year. When i asked the counter about the new pricing, I was told because they did refurbishment. Hence the price increased. Although there’s no time limitation to be inside the snow room, but charging at RM60 per adult and RM50 per child is quite alot I felt. Imagine if its a big family. Nevertheless it is still cheaper than travel to overseas for real snow.

Winter Jacket & Boot will be provided by the premise. But some jackets with faulty zip.

Ear muff, scarf or hand gloves and be purchase here. Otherwise can bring your own.

Lockers are also available here with a fee of RM3 (one time usage). In case you want to store your shoes or other belongings.

If you want to feel warm after exiting, there are vending machines with hot drinks.

I brought my own glove for Jet, which I bought from Daiso.

Tip: Let your child wear thicker clothes, long sleeve or sweater under the Winter Jacket. Because I felt the jacket provided for children is not thick and it is very cold inside!

As you enter the room, you will be greeted by the staff photographer to take a nice family photo for you. If you like the photo, you can buy the printed copy for RM35 at the exit point. LMAO!! More money spend! 😀 😀

The temperature here was about 5 degree Celsius.

There were many ice sculptures here. YES! Many of them..I read that, these ice sculptures were made by international artists from Harbin China.

By the way, there weren’t any snow at this area. More like a thin layer of crushed ice laid on the carpet. Becareful, it can be quite slippery too.

There were also ice sculptures with small slides for the young child.

There’s a small area of football court which Jet enjoyed so much.

This was the last part. The room is brighter and draws more crowd. Reason is that this area has falling snow and it looks like a playground. I actually got the urge to go on the slide. But I shy…. hahaha!

We didn’t spend long hours here because my mom & Jet was freezing cold already.

Anyway, we have achieved our snow experience. Mission accomplished!

Most of the rides here are suitable for children. Price starts from RM5 per ride.

Hotel Review: Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Hotel

Early this year, we went for a family trip within Malaysia via flight. It was Jet’s second time boarding on plane since he was 2 years old. But during that time he barely know much. Now he’s more bigger and chatty, he enjoyed the ride and know what’s going on.

As we arrived Langkawi Airport, Jet said, “Mummy, lets look at the map”. 😀

At the airport arrival hall, there is a row of counters offering car rental and travel packages within the island. If you want to save some hassle, you can pre-book before you arrive. For my 3days 2 nights trip, I rented a car from this company. I was given a rate of RM140 (during non-peak season). Meaning its RM70/night. Very good price! However the price may vary during school break or festive holidays. I got a Proton Saga FLX (Auto). I wouldn’t say the car condition was tip top but still acceptable.

Seems like hotels at Pantai Cenang are more expensive. Therefore I changed my mind to book a hotel at Kuah. I got to know about this hotel from my friend who was coincidentally traveling to Langkawi a day later than me. Driving distance from airport to Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Hotel is about 14km (approx. 30 minutes). From Pantai Cenang to Kuah will only need 14.2km. Since we got a car to move about, so I thought staying in Kuah wouldn’t be a problem.

Car Park is available at this premise. But quite limited. Otherwise full, you can opt to park at the opposite car park lot at RM5/entry. It is waiveable for hotel guest.

“Initially it was known as Langkawi Yacht Club. In 1999, the royal patron of the club Sultan of Kedah state conferred the ‘Royal’ title to the club. Over the years, the club has grown in its stature and become one of the top favorites to the yachters from all over the world.”

At year 2015, the club undergone a major renovation. Level-1 there will be a lobby and a reception area. There are total 32 boutique rooms. So, I can say that our room is pretty new. 🙂

Hill View Family Room.

We booked the room for RM622 for 2 nights inclusive of breakfast via Expedia. The 31 m² area room with 2 Queen size bed.

There’s also sufficient space for luggage.

Other amenities are kettle, instant coffee, bedroom slippers, complimentary drinking water in bottle, television, free wifi, refrigerator, in room safe box.

The Family Room does not have seaview but only nature view. We could see monkeys climbing the trees ……………

also spotted the Macho Eagle flying around here. Not one but a few of them.

The bathroom isn’t big. Only standing shower.

Bathroom Amenities.

The Swimming Pool is divided to children pool and adult pool. The swimming pool is onlooking the sea and yachts. What a breathtaking view!

The AL-fresco breakfast area.

The breakfast served was quite simple and not too much varieties unlike some hotels that serve like a feast. But it has the common ones like egg, toast, sausage/bacon, baked beans, hash brown, cereal, yogurt, nasi lemak, juice, milk and coffee.

I like that they served Nasi Lemak Bungkus (nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaf). It was very delicious too.

If you are lazy to drive out for dinner, you can also dine at Charlie’s Bar & Grill. A restaurant serving Western and also Asian food.

Dataran Lang/Eagle Square, one of Langkawi’s best known manmade attractions, a large sculpture of an eagle poised to take flight. This 12 metre-tall statue is one of the island’s most recognizable monuments.

“The reddish-brown eagle at Dataran Lang was built as an emblem of the island. According to folklore Langkawi’s name came from two Malay words – ‘helang’ (eagle) and ‘kawi’ (reddish brown): hence lang-kawi. “

It is just situated 690m away from the hotel.

I enjoyed taking photos of this hotel view, be it during the day or during the sunset. Really love this breathtaking panoramic view. I do not have any complains about this hotel. All of us enjoyed our stay here.

Apart from this, Langkawi is a duty free state. You can buy lots of chocolates and liquor at really good price here. But for liquor there’s a restriction of 1 liter per person in case you are bringing it home.

We enjoyed traveling together now. Just that traveling with a little one, mummy has to be like a hawk, more alert to guard them. Now, Jet kept telling me to go Langkawi. Looks like he really love this place. I also like Langkawi. This is my 4th time in Langkawi. Its not just an island mainly for snorkeling or swimming. But there’s more to explore.

Hotel Review : Hotel Excelsior Ipoh

Last year, during the year end school break, I planned a short trip to Ipoh together with my family.

First of all, we needed to book a hotel beforehand. I needed a with good location and look comfortable. But not too expensive, because we won’t be spending too much time in room. Did some homework by comparing rates between a few reliable 3rd party hotel websites and not forgetting to read reviews by travelers from tripadvisor.

Finally I made a decision too book Hotel Excelsior, Ipoh.

Established in 1983, Hotel Excelsior is Ipoh’s first international hotel that is strategically located in the heart of the city center of Ipoh.

Its an old hotel. But recently Hotel Excelsior has undergone a face-lift with a complete renovation, which gave me confidence. Furthermore this hotel met my criteria.

Hotel Excelsior is about 10km from Simpang Pulai toll exit.

If you are driving, free car park (for hotel guest) is also available at this premise, a multi storey car park. Do take note that the ramp might be quite narrow to bigger cars.

The check-in process was quite fast, especially when you’ve already booked your room. Staffs are quite friendly too.

Dulang Coffee House located at Ground Floor, serves international buffet breakfast, lunch and ala-carte dishes for dinner.

I booked the Family Room (Triple), which comes with 1 Queen size bed and 1 Single size bed at a good rate of RM270 per night.

Room size is 36 m² , sufficient space for us and kids to move about and also play.

Air-cond was working well and the free wifi signal was strong too.

Bathroom amenities

Our bathroom completes with shower room and also a bath tub. There are hot and cold water tap.

The kids just love the bath tub very much whenever we are on hotel stay.

Apart from that, the room is also equipped with mini refrigerator, electric kettle, hair dryer, ironing facility and free bottled water.

Excelsior Palace (5th Floor).

We settled our dinner here on one of the night. It is a Chinese restaurant (Non-Halal). Nice cosy environment for family gathering. Besides that, food here tasted quite good and the prices are not too expensive. Do check out the value price Set Lunch (RM14.90/set), which is available daily.

The above dishes cost RM107.60, before 6% GST charge. No service charge here.

Nearest Shopping mall is Ipoh Parade which is just 500m away.

7eleven convenience store is just 50m away.

Not forgetting also the both famous dim sum restaurants. They are just 160m away from the hotel.

Verdict: In my opinion, this hotel and room is above my expectation. Beds are alright and the location is not noisy.

As a Full Time Working Mom, to have a balance lifestyle between work, home and children can be quite stressful. I tend to look for ways to de-stress or occasional self pampering session option like Spa.

Recently, I chanced upon Sanctuary Asia Spa at d’Tempat Country Club, Seremban. Thus, I had a wonderful spa experience which I would like to share here.

I was served by Lindri who then explained the types of therapy and package available here.

On going promotion for month of December. Club members will get to enjoy more discount. Best kan?

Thus, I took up the 3 hours package treatment. Read on for more details.

The reception area and the corridor leading to rooms are spacious and brightly lit.

Sanctuary Asia Spa, is designed with contemporary style and subtle touch of Balinese to Rejuvenate, Retreat and Relieve your senses.

I was also told that, these are the products used during the therapy; massage.
Avocado & Milk, were among the favorite massaging cream.

The techniques used at the Sanctuary Asia Spa include acupressure, skin rolling and flicking, firm and gentle stroking, percussion and application of essential oils and also the use of stone massage. The combination of manual therapy and aromatherapy encourages one not only to relax, but to also help loosen the facial restrictions, stimulate the lymphatic system and promote the flow of blood and qi.

But for some who prefers some privacy, rooms are also available for Foot Massage too.

Whilst the Waiting Room is spacious and relaxing.

There are total of 5 individual rooms. Rooms are equipped with sauna, bath tub, shower room, wash basin, cupboard and 1 unit of bed for massage.

Above is the room for 2. Total units available here are 2 rooms. Ideal for couples. The difference between a single and couple room is that, room is more spacious and it comes with Jacuzzi. Apart from that, the room look so luxurious!

I was arranged to have my session in this room. The room has a peaceful and relaxing ambiance. Plus points to the soothing music and calming essential oil. Furthermore the masseur was attentive , which made me feel more comfortable to begin the session.

It started off with Foot Bath.

Then, proceeded to Sauna for a good sweat out.

A sauna’s heat also helps to open your pores, which promotes sweating and cleanses your skin. The high temperatures promotes blood flow and circulation, which can make you feel energized after a sauna.

This session lasted about 30 minutes. However if you feel uneasy, you can opt for a shorter duration.

I was attended by Maya, who is friendly and skillful. She is from Indonesia and has several years of working experience as a masseur. She commented that I have very stiff shoulder. What I like most is that, not much of talking or chit chatting. Just relax yourself and enjoy the whole session. I literally fall asleep.

The above session covers; Balinese Aromatherapy Massage, Balinese Green Tea Scrub, then followed by Yogurt Conditioning.

I skipped the Traditional Balinese Facial because I wanted more on massage 😀

After all the above, I then continued with Milk & Flower bath in a tub of warm water. Frangipani flower is widely use in Bali. It is Bali’s signature flower and it smells nice too.

I was offered with this spa salt. Put small amount of spa salt on wet body and rub gently in circular motion. Rinse off with clean water. This fine spa salt is to nourish and moisturize during exfoliating for smooth,clean and healthy skin.

Guests will also served with a cuppa warm Ginger Tea after the session end.

I love this pampering session very much. Do bring along your loved ones who really deserves a good pampering session and I assured that she’ll really appreciate your effort. 🙂

Genting Strawberry Leisure Farms

Snow World has closed.

What else can you do in Genting besides shopping and eating, especially with kids around?

During my recent trip to Genting Highland, I added Genting Strawberry Leisure Farms into our agenda. To make it more convenient for your journey, you can either drop by this place while you are on your way up to Genting Highlands or when you are leaving home.

It is nestled directly at town opposite the Mawar and Bunga Raya Apartments. The farm can easily be reached by taking left from the roundabout past Hotel Seri Malaysia (before reaching Premium Outlet / Awana Skyway).

There’s car park area in front of this premise.

An admission fee or RM8 (adult), RM5 (child) is required.

As we entered the farm, we could see rows of strawberry plants on both left and right side. It is well organized.

Strawberry products are also sold here. Plucked fruits, Strawberry jams. However if you decided to have some fruit plucking, you may do so here. Self plucked strawberries will be charge at RM8/100 gram.

You will be given a basket and a pair of scissor to cut the strawberry from its stem. Jet had fun and so do I.

*Mom was looking for some good harvest 😀

Tip : Look for some plump size strawberry but not totally red yet. Unless you are gonna eat on the spot. Otherwise by the time you bring them home, its gonna be overripe, due to the changes of weather temperature.

From the Strawberry Farm, we walked to the Lavender Garden, following the route.

The Lavender Farm is free access.

There were 2 different types of Lavender seen here. Apparently, the dull purple one is has nice fragrant.

Other than lavender plant, products made of lavender is also available at this souvenir shop.

The panoramic view here is really breathtaking.

Anthurium

I noticed that Gerbera & Chrysanthemum are widely grown here.

A flower that I adored much. It is called Hydrangea. I love its full shaped and especially the pastel colors.

Lastly, before exiting the farm there were rows of shops selling local products and souvenirs.

Verdict: Some people may think that paying the admission fee of RM10 is not worth because the strawberry farm section covers only 1/4 of the entire farm. But I personally think its worth paying. We spent at least 2 hours strolling the farm, admiring the beautiful flowers in a breezy weather and took lotsa photos. There are many photo spots here especially if you love taking photos. Professional photographer service is also available here. Not forgetting to mention, there’s also a small canteen here, serving local cooked dishes and beverages.

Hotel on the Park, Genting Highlands

Formerly known as Theme Park Hotel. But after the refurbishment, it is now known as Hotel on the Park.

Hotels at Genting Highlands are selling fast, especially on weekends.

We planned this almost one month ahead. This newly opened hotel started operating on early July 2017.

It was a short family trip to escape from the hot weather. HAHAHA 😀

Hotel on the Park is a boutique hotel perfect for those who like to stay together. For the first time, Resorts World Genting is offering rooms which can accommodate up to six people.

Before checking in to our respective hotel, while on our way up hill..we pay a visit to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. Quite crowded too. There’s still queue for Coach Outlet. The selections of brands are not bad. From average to above average depending on your budget.

I managed to book The Sixers (3 queen-sized beds (including a bunk bed). Accommodates maximum of 6.) at a price of RM440 (exclusive breakfast). You can get it cheaper sometimes. Price may varies weekly too.

The Sixers is suitable for friends or family gathering.

Check-in time: 3.00pm
Check-out time: 12.00 noon

Also available is Quads rooms which have two queen-sized beds and can accommodate up to four people in an approximately 260 sq ft space. Another room option for smaller group of people.

The hotel lobby at 6pm. Hence you see it quite empty.

The check in process was quite fast during my arrival time. However an amount of RM200 is required as deposit. But it is refundable upon checking out.

There were 3 working lifts (1 is blocked by the wall).

Food and drinks Vending Machine at the hotel room corridor. I seriously don’t know why they uses purple lights for the corridor. It looks creepy to walk alone. (think too much)

The lil kepochi is curious about the vending machine. Nicely choosing what he wants.

My room number was #3434 😀

Lift and room is only accessible via room access card.

It does not disappoint me that the room is exactly the same as shown on the web. Probably because it is still new. It looks neat and clean. Very cute and cheerful room, I thought.

Queen size mattress is laid on the raised wooden platform of tatami style.

There’s also compartment for you to store some small luggage.

A Queen size bunk bed. However a tall person has to be careful with their head, due to the low headroom. 😀

The open bathroom has 2 wash basins.

Shower area and toilet are separated. There are no wall hooks inside the shower area. Therefore I find it quite inconvenient. Where to hang my clothes le? Unless I undress myself before entering the shower area.

(No complain about the water pressure and temperature 🙂 )

Bathroom toiletries such as Bath Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Shaver, Cotton buds, Tooth Brush and Shower Cap are provided.

Hotel on the Park at night.

Since the hotel does not have a restaurant, we decided to walk to Sky Avenue which took around 10 minutes on foot.

A covered pedestrian corridor linking the hotel to Sky Avenue.

Sky Avenue, claimed as shopping and dining at 6,000 feet with more than 70 retail and dining outlets opened so far.

On top of that, Sky Avenue also boasts a world-class LED display that spreads across an entire atrium within the mall.

The Sky Casino is also adjoined to Sky Avenue. Have any of you tried Burger & Lobsters? I saw the prices ain’t cheap. But the queue is fantastic. Be it late night or early morning, there are people queing for it. I wonder what is the average waiting time or best time to visit.

A place worth checking out.

The hotel rate does not include breakfast. But you can get some quick bites from Eatopia, located at the hotel lobby.

Bring along your Genting member card. Because you could save some ringgits on each item. Do check out the Nasi Lemak Ayam (RM8-member price, RM9-non member), which tasted good I felt. Apart from the Nasi Lemak, Croissant with Tuna was nice too.

This hotel has several photo spots.

One of the favorite spot has to be this mirror effect one. You gotta get a quick shot. There will be people waiting for their turn.

Verdict: A fun boutique hotel with reasonable rates. Sleeping quality was alright. But light sleeper may think otherwise , if your room is facing the road. You may hear the sound of racing bikes. The hotel does not have its own parking lot. Therefore the nearest place to park your car is at Resort Hotel’s parking lot (within walking distance).

d’Tempat Country Club is not any stranger to most of the Serembanian.

Hosted numerous events during festive seasons and school holidays, the past few years which eventually draws much crowd.

How do I get to enjoy these facilities?

These facilities are only open to club members. Or if you are a guest of d’Sora Boutique Business Hotel, you get the privilege to use the club’s facilities.

Simply walk to the reception counter at Lower Ground Floor (next to the grand staircase) register yourself by providing your membership card otherwise a room access card with room number (for hotel guest), and the staff will pass you a wristband. This is to ensure that you are a registered user.

1) Swimming Pool

If you look at the bottom left of the photo above , you’ll notice that there are Jacuzzi pools.

The Olympic-sized swimming pool gained much popularity among visitors and club members here. The depth of pool is 12meter consistently throughout the whole pool.

Besides that, the poolside deck provides ample space for lounging and poolside dining, surrounded by tropical greenery and a fragrant herb garden.

2) Aqua Gym

The only aqua gym available in Seremban, it provides both relaxation and a fun, low-impact workout especially those who are seeking rehabilitative exercise (physiotherapy).

3) Children’s Wading Pool

Apart from the Olympic-sized swimming pool, children’s wading pool with water slides is also one of the attraction here. Its like a mini water park.

Jet enjoyed both the children pools. Whilst I enjoyed supervising him. LOL!

Feeling much relieved when I saw there are 2 lifeguards patrolling the swimming pool. Anyhow parents should be responsible in keeping an eye on their children too.

You can register yourself at the reception counter which is in front of the changing room in for the usage of locker and towels. Also to obtain an electronic key wristband (waterproof) to open and lock your locker.

The changing room is equipped with lockers for you to keep your belongings, toilets and bathrooms, also a sauna room.

The Sphere is located at ground floor, next to Matrix Gallery. This bowling alley comprised of 10 lanes which is open to public.

You are required to bring your own sock, otherwise pay RM3 to purchase from the counter.

I would say its a great sport to have some fun with family and friends.

7) Snooker Room

Snooker room is adjoining to The Sphere. It is only opened to club members at a chargeable rate of RM7/hour.

8) Children Playroom

The children playroom is kept clean. Surrounded with vibrant colors, equipped with a TV that broadcasts age-appropriate shows and programmes, including Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

9) Reading Room

Tables, chairs, book shelves. The reading room is spacious, quite and looked cosy too.

10) Mini Theater

A mini theater that has comfortable seats (fit up to 30 people) and nice sound system.

A screen showing list of movies and screening time is available outside the theater room.

Otherwise on weekdays, they offers Bento Set and Ala-carte at an affordable price too.

VIP rooms are also available here. The adjoining room could fit up to maximum of 20 people.

A Chinese restaurant with nice ambiance offering you Pork Free Cantonese delicacies. À la carte and seasonal menus are available here. Apart from that, it is an ideal place for hosting both casual dining and banquets.

3) Movida

Movida offers casual all-day dining and a place to unwind after work. With both indoor and outdoor seating available, this poolside venue is the best spot to see and be seen as you delight in an alfresco dining experience with the family or enjoy a drink with good friends and great music within a lively atmosphere.

These food are well presented.

Don’t forget to try their pizza which has very thin crust and filled with generous cheese!

Prepared by the local chefs, Garden Terrace is place for truly Malaysian Cuisine.

The new creation of ‘Signature Dishes’ at Garden Terrace is available daily.

A must try Chef William‘s creation of :-

Jemput-jemput Vadei – 6pcs (traditional Indian Vadei served with homemade chutney) ~ A unique way to have vadei & chutney. Whilst the flavorful vadei has very fluffy texture. Tasted good on its own.

Durian Cendol (special mamak cendol with durian puree) ~ the special part about this cendol is not just the durian puree, but its also prepared with gula melaka kurma.

Not forgetting Chef’s Roti Canai & Teh Tarik which tasted good too.

Together with Chef Razif (in photo), Chef Masitah and Chef Asyikin serving you these delicious Masakan Melayu ala Thai.

Ayam Paprik (Thai spicy and sour gravy with vegetables and chicken)

Dinosaurs Alive in Kuala Lumpur 2017

Do you still remember the movie Jurrasic Park at year 1993 directed by Steven Spielberg? I watched it when I was a kid. I felt it was the best movie that I’ve ever watched those days.

Last month, my Unimate Jeanly mentioned about “Dinosaurs Alive in KL”. Without hesitation, we ended up with gathering cum dinosaurs tour. On the other hand, Siew Sian was so sporting to even book train tickets to travel from Butterworth to KL together with her children to make this gathering happen.

A week before the meeting date, I told Jet that mummy is bringing you to watch dinosaurs. He hooray-ed with excitement. But I think I am more excited than him. 😀

Located at Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic) in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur is where they gonna homed these dinosaurs. This exhibition was held from 14 July 2017 for 6 months period.

A sight of T-Rex with roaring sound was placed above the tent, with buildings of KL as background. “T-Rex Takes Over KL”!

As we entered the hall, we were greeted by the huge T-Rex and Sauropod, with much roaring sound. The hall looks like Avatar world. LOL! With neon lights, forest like surroundings and crickets sound.

In an air-conditioned big tent, there’s over 40 life-size, primordial creatures with life-like reptilian skin. They roar, breathe and stomp.

If you begin from the right side, there’s an inflatable playground for the kids to have fun.

There were total of 3 inflatable playground here.

A typical Sauropod had a large barrel-shaped body, a long neck, a small head, and a long, powerful tail. It stood on four tree-trunk like legs.

Information about the species of dinosaur is shown here too.

There were some games with prize. But each game was priced at RM10.

This game is RM10 for 3 balls. You gotto aim the balls into the dinosaur mouth in order to win prize. However if you failed to aim any, you will still get a stalk of toy flower. 🙂

Play the role of paleontologist at price of RM10.

Special outfit and tools are provided. Then you get to bring home the mini size fossil.

Pick your lucky dinosaur game at RM10. Every dinosaur will have a number under its feet. The numbers will indicate the prize.

Jet chose the green dinosaur. Let’s see what he got.

Jet’s number fall into the group of ‘7, 9 , 11’. Therefore he got a ball! 😀

Although there’s a fee of RM10 for each of the above mentioned game and activities, but this sand art activity is free of charge. Hence you see the crowd here.

There were only 3 designs to choose. All the designs are of dinosaurs which is related to this exhibition.

Jet did the sand art by himself with some guidance from me.

He proudly showed his completed art work.

Stegosauria was a group of armored dinosaurs that had rows bony of plates running along their backs.

Hadrosaurids are also known as ‘duck-billed’ dinosaurs on account of their wide mouth parts. Many Hadrosaurids were able to walk on both two and four feet, using all four feet when grazing, but using two feet to run.

Gifts and Souvenirs counter, so that you will not go home empty handed. Goodie bag at price RM70 with dinosaurs merchandises 😀

I didn’t get the chance on the assembling dinosaur bone wood craft which was free too (the crowd area at the background) because Jet starting to fuss.

We parked our car at the car park area opposite to (Matic) for RM2 (weekend). Total spending time was about 2+ hours. This dinosaur exhibition has draw much crowd from families with children. The curiosity and excitement to watch huge size dinosaurs, also a good introduction towards Jurassic world. Quite fun also lar, when you watches the macho T-Rex roaring. Staffs are quite friendly and attentive. However I felt that the price is abit high. Would love that if the price is inclusive of all activities inside. Imagine if you have a big family. That would be a big sum.

Half Day Trip to Port Dickson (Pantai Cahaya Negeri, Wan Loong Chinese Temple & Pusat Ikan Hiasan)

The kids were longing to go to the beach.

When are we going to the beach, mummy?

Well, Port Dickson would be an ideal and nearest beach to go. It is just 30-40 minutes drive from Seremban. We decided to go early in the morning to have our breakfast at the beach. Yay!

1) Pantai Cahaya Negeri

There are many stops along Port Dickson beach. However I chose Pantai Cahaya Negeri because I felt it is cleaner and less crowd. Furthermore, there’s ample of parking lots here.

Despite cleaner beach, I also like that there’s a public toilet & bathroom here. It will be convenient for beach goers to wash up. There’s a fee of RM0.50 (for usage of toilet), RM1 (for usage of bathroom). I wouldn’t say its very clean, but still acceptable.

We were so lucky, that morning was quite cloudy after the heavy rain at dawn. Moreover the beach was really empty. Probably due to the fasting month. It was really nice to stroll along the beach with such nice weather.

Pantai Cahaya Negeri is a popular beachside destination between 5th and 6th mile of Port Dickson, served by a considerable number of resorts, hotels and apartments perched along its coastal strip. Some claim this to be PD’s best beach – balancing natural beauty, tranquility and public facilities. The sea waters here are also quite clean, reflecting bluish green with good visibility. Meanwhile, the soft, powdery sand here is notably inviting, gleaming white when lit by the afternoon sun. A recreational park occupies a small cape at the eastern edge, with panoramic views of sea along its perimeter, and a wooden bridge that leads to a small mangrove island (Pulau Burung) off the coast.

We chose a nice spot under the tree to have our picnic! 😀

Hahaha! We bought some packets of Nasi Lemak, Fried Bihun, Steamed Pao, Steamed Siew Mai and drinks before we head to the beach.

The kids were so excited about the picnic and play at the beach. Although this was not the first time, but it is a rare occasion.

Spending time with your child is what every parent should do. Because they grow up really fast without you realizing it.

We didn’t walk across the lengthy wooden bridge. But if you have spare time… why not?

Tip: If you go to the beach and you need to wash off the sand before getting into the car, use talcum powder. It washes off effectively. Ya…its faster than water too. 🙂

2) Wan Loong Chinese Temple

Kampung Teluk Kemang, 71050 Si Rusa, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

We left the beach as its getting hot. We head over to Wan Loong Chinese temple to pray. Wan Loong Chinese Temple is a Buddhist temple. It is nice temple located at a slope by the roadside. Visible from the roundabout.

Wan Loong Temple is located along the 7th mile of the Port Dickson coastal road, just opposite the PD World Marina Resort. This Chinese temple, with its opulent architecture and imposing fortress walls, is hard to miss at left along the main road, if coming south towards Malacca from PD town. The temple name means ‘Dragon of the Clouds’, but it pays homage to several oriental deities, including Kuan Yi (goddess of mercy) and the Monkey King.

3) Pusat Ikan Hiasan Port Dickson

This research centre is now open for public viewing. Comprised of varieties colorful ocean fishes and corals that are well kept in tanks.

They recently set up this Turtle Conservation Centre.

This was the first time I get to see a real turtle. An up close one! As you know, the turtles are very precious. I was so thrilled 😀

Turtles of different ages and species are put in different water tubs.

Don’t you think that these baby turtles are so cute!! I believed there are people who cannot tahan the cuteness and start putting their hands in or probably catch it. I hope you would not do that ya.

The activities of reproduction and conservation of coral species from the sea (Port Dickson) is done here. I could see some beautiful corals, sea horse, clown fish (nemo).

This is a nice and educational place for children and adult. Although it is not big, but I like how well they maintained the place. “Protecting fisheries resources and ensuring national treasures are preserved for future generations”

Clown Fish (Nemo) is one of the popular fish here.

Visitors get the chance to touch starfish & sea cucumber too.

Pantai Cahaya Negeri → (5 min.) Wan Loong Chinese Temple → (5 min.) Pusat Ikan Hiasan PD, are all linked together in a same route. Therefore, it is quite convenient.

4) Restaurant Yit Hin

For lunch, we drove to PD town (about 15 minutes drive from Pusat Ikan) for chicken rice which claimed to be best Hainan Chicken Rice in Port Dickson. I kinda agree on that. The fragrantful rice is abit oily but its fluffy. Steamed chicken is firm yet smooth. I like the ginger sauce to compliment the chicken and rice. Besides that, I felt the chili sauce is rather different from others. Apparently, they uses free range chicken or we usually called it ayam kampung.

The stall and dining place may not look appealing. But the chicken rice is good!

It was a well spent day. And what matters most are all the mentioned destination are free. No admission fee required. Isn’t that great!

Another destination that I would like to recommend is the Army Museum Port Dickson. Yes, it is free too. 🙂

Day Trip to Tanjung Sepat, Selangor

Mom & I have not been to Tanjung Sepat before. Traveling to Tanjung Sepat from Seremban only requires about 1 hour driving journey, via Sepang route. I must thank the person who created ‘waze’. It really helps me to explore new places.

Since it is just an hour drive, therefore a day trip is doable. Furthermore Tanjung Sepat is just a small town.

Tanjung Sepat is a town in Kuala Langat district in Selangor, Malaysia. To give you a brief idea on whereabout, it is actually in between Sepang and Pantai Morib. Tanjung Sepat is primarily a fishing town.

Printing out the Map would be helpful to anyone of us.

I assumed dragon fruits are grown widely at Tanjung Sepat because we saw some dragon fruits plantation farm on both directions of road as we were approaching the town. You can also visit the farm (Multi-rich Pitaya Dragon Fruit Farm).

We arrived Tanjung Sepat at 10+am for an early Bak Kut Teh. I was told that it could finished before 12 or sometimes by 11am.

1) Ah Hock Seafood Bak Kut Teh

Ah Hock Seafood Bak Kut Teh is the wooden hut on the right of the photo. It is quite near the wet market. Roads are pretty narrow here although its a 2 way road. There is a small vacant lot for car park, but it was full. Therefore I parked slightly further, and walked over.

The restaurant was filled with patrons when we were there before 11am. However we managed to get a seat too. Food was served pretty fast too. I read that majority people recommended the Seafood Bak Kut Teh. It is their specialty. We were left with no ~~choice~~ pork (kut). We were told that pork has sold out when the staff was taking our order. Therefore our pot of bak kut teh is filled with seafood! 😀

A claypot bak kut teh filled with medium size prawns, squids and chunks of fish meat. The soup was flavorful and the seafood was really fresh, especially the prawns…that it jumped off my spoon and landed on the ground ….*dangggg…. 😀

Another dish we ordered was the Pig Innards & Fish Paste in Salted Mustard Soup. All of us actually enjoyed this pot of dish more than the bak kut teh. The hearty soup was rich in flavors and has generous ingredients in it.

We also had rice, a plate of stir fry vege and tea. Our total bill came up to be RM69, which I felt its quite reasonable.

Tanjung Sepat is a small town. And that day was so sunny! *hot die*

It was just a 2 minutes walk from Ah Hock Bak Kut Teh to Pau Hai Yew Heng. So, I thought may be we could buy some pau first and coffee powder.

We arrived the pau shop about 12pm. This shop is famous for its homemade pau.

I read that you must not miss the Mui Choy (Preserved Mustard) Pao here.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to buy any pau at 12pm, because I was told that the pau are not ready yet. I was told to come over to buy before leaving home. Furthermore I was told no need to place early order. And when I return at 4pm, most of the pau are sold out. My favorite peanut pau was sold out! Really disappointed lor… say lar if you don’t allowed customers to book. Attitude also more like…you buy what’s left lar. May be because fames edi kut 😦

The “mui choy’ pau is special, because it is not a common pau. However its not the best I’ve eaten so far.

Sis bought some roasted coffee from Kwo Zha B Coffee, which is just few doors away from the pau shop. They gave out some sampling too. Sis claimed that it tasted good.

These ol-skool Popsicles reminds me of school days! But price has grown 10 folds. Those days I bought it at RM0.10. Now, I’m buying it at RM1. Grrrr…..

Assam Boi flavor is one of the best seller. I remember I used to buy red bean, milo and assam boi flavor.

Jet enjoyed the ice popsicle that mummy used to buy during school days 🙂

Mom bought some fish cakes and bahulu from this friendly uncle, while I bought some passion fruits sold in packs.

3) Qiao Local Products Shop

At this local product shop which is just nearby the Tanjung Sepat Lover’s bridge, there are many deco here which worth taking photos.

There are varieties of dried ingredients sold at this local product shop. Mom bought some anchovies, dried scallops, dried oysters and keropok. Price wise doesn’t differ much from our town. But it looks fresher here.

Quench our thirst on a sunny day with a cup of cold sugar cane drink.

4) Tanjung Sepat Lovers Bridge

Tanjung Sepat Lovers Bridge once captured many visitors heart. Many visitor came over for this bridge. Why is it called lover’s bridge? Apparently its called lovers bridge because many couples seem to come to the bridge to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Unfortunately part of the bridge which made of wood collapsed sometime ago since year 2013.

Before this, visitors can still walk stand on part of the bridge (the concrete part). However it is totally closed now 😦

5) Ganofarm Homestay

It was just some 4 minutes drive from Lovers Bridge to Ganofarm.

GanoFarm Homestay provides more than just accommodation, it is also an important Malaysian based mushroom research company that cultivates, researches and develops, manufactures, markets fresh mushrooms and mushroom- based products. Oyster Mushroom, Monkey Head Mushroom, Lingzhi Mushroom, Black Jelly Mushroom. For those who are interested in learning more about the mushroom, GanoFarm is a good choice! We bought some ‘black jelly mushroom’ home to cook. Eventually it tasted quite nice.

These are Ling Zhi drinks in bottle. I was reluctant to try. I think it tasted bitter? Anyone tried before?

We saw this bridge behind Ganofarm. There were also benches. You can sit down to enjoy the view and listen to the sound of waves.

6) Kuan Wellness Eco Park

From Ganofarm to Kuan Wellness Eco Park took us about 12 minutes to reach. It was around 10km in distance.

The ecology park consists of a 3½ storey swiftlet house and a visitor centre, surrounded by palm oil plantations and tropical fruit farms which provide plenty of insects, the swiftlet’s favourite food source.

There’s a smoke free cafe here. One can savor the bird nest drinks here. We didn’t bother to try any. Because my reason to be here is to bring the kids to the mini zoo. 😀

Admission is at RM5 per person as a token of donation to the park.

You can buy the packet carrots or fish food at price of RM2 and RM3.

Rabbits are allowed to hoop freely behind the fence.

You can feed these fishes with the purchased fish pallets. I noticed there were few different fish species in the tank. Oh ya…there’s Empurau too. 😀

Nevertheless, the kids enjoyed feeding the animals and fishes. I think we spent around 45 minutes here.

7) Lover Bridge Restaurant

At about 2+pm, we had our late lunch here. We only ordered some simple dishes here to fill our tummy 🙂

Fried Bihun with Clams (Lala) was tasty with some good wok hei in it. Although the lala was quite tiny but the quantity was quite okay.

Fried Omelet with Oysters. Jet called this as ‘pizza’. HAHAHA! Unfortunately the oysters were very small. Otherwise it could taste better.

Seafood Beancurd soup in claypot was a comfort dish. Added some black vinegar to the soup to enhance the flavor.

The price was quite affordable.

This was our dining view. Blue sky and dust. HAHA! Apparently this was our final meal here. 😦

I was sadden by the recent news that the local council has demolished both the restaurants here to give way for development. *Sigh* 😦

8) Mr. Black

While on our way home, we drove pass Mr. Black. It is another handmade pau. Without hesitation, we made a pitstop to purchase some of the pau here.

Mr. Black offers better service. The pau content is quite unique unlike the common pau that we usually eat. We tried the Salted Fish Pau & Yellow Wine Chicken Pau. Surprisingly both of it tasted good! The pau dough is nice too.

Last but not least, we also bought some dragon fruit as we were leaving Tanjung Sepat. RM10 for 3. Price may varies according to sizes. I wouldn’t say it is cheaper here. But the fruit is fresh, sweet and juicy.
