Highlight of my Short Gateway to Melaka 2022

During the recent school break, I decided to bring my family to Melaka for a short gateway. It has been 2+ years since our last visit to Melaka.

1. Stay at Estadia Hotel Melaka

Since its a family gateway, I checked for a rather spacious rooms which offers good rates. After comparing the hotels and reviews…I then decided to choose Estadia Hotel Melaka which fulfilled my criteria.

Location of Estadia Hotel

Estadia Hotel is also a sister hotel of Hatten Hotel and the price is more affordable too. Estadia Hotel is located within a short distance with Mahkota Parade, Mahkota Medical Hospital, Hatten Square, Dataran Pahlawan. It is also next to Hatten Hotel. Furthermore its distance to the popular tourist spot, Jonker Street is about 3km.

Despite visiting on weekdays, the Melaka town road is still so busy. Probably due to school holidays.

The hotel car park is shared with Hatten Square. Remember to validate your car park ticket at the hotel lobby for the free parking. In this case, we uses TouchNGo card.

“Experience authentic Baba Nyonya culture in a splendid Peranakan mansion-home styled hotel. A perfect blend of contemporary design meets traditional textures and motifs, revel in Estadia’s magnificent décor inspired by Melaka’s ethnic heritage.”

I booked the Family Suite which has 2 connecting rooms, even with 2 bathrooms with a good price of about RM330 per night for this suite.

I would say the rooms are quite cosy & comfortable.

2. McQuek’s Satay Celup

McQuek’s Satay Celup (Main Branch)

288 Jalan Parameswara, Banda Hilir, 75000 Melaka.

☎️ Contact No.:010-268 2998

🕧 Operation Hours:4:00pm – 11:00pm

(Closed on Wednesdays)

After getting some rest in our hotel room, we went out for early dinner at McQuek’s Sate Celup. I google search for less tourist place and stumbled upon this . You may overlook this place because it is located along the main road.

We were the early birds. Hence no crowd. I preferred this place over the popular Ban Lee Siang, because it is more spacious and more open air here. Hence I feel more comfortable eating here. Besides that, the service and taste was satisfying too.

Staff will constantly check on our satay sauce and refill them. Besides that the precook satay sauce is also available for sale. So that you can also DIY your own satay celup at home using their sauce.

3. Jonker Walk

Each time come to Jonker Walk also so hot and sweaty! HAHAHAHA!!

Discovered some interesting plaques from one of the shop.

Got attracted with these blocks. I bought one too….. with a different figure.

4) Sebungkus Melaka

Address: Lot G065- G066, Terminal Pahlawan, Jln Merdeka, Bandar Hilir, 75000 Malacca

Operation Hours : 8am – 8pm (Open daily)

Phone012-969 7295

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sebungkusmelaka/

We did not go for hotel breakfast, but checking out this rather new makan place which is just a short walking distance from our hotel.

We had their breakfast set, which came with few options with an affordable price. We love the nasi lemak, the rice was aromatic and the sambal was good! (It was my lucky day….I got a double egg yolk in an egg). Besides that, the Char Kuey Teow was nice too with ‘wok hei’.

5) BESS Kopitiam

Address: Pusat Niaga, 7 , jalan PNBBU 5, Kampung Solok Musai, Bukit Baru Utama, 75150 Melaka

Operation Hours : 7.30am – 3.30pm (Closed on Thursdays)

Phone017-610 8055

I used to eat Nyonya Laksa at Jonker Walk, because its more convenient to eat and walk there. But recently I felt the taste has deteriorate and also expensive. Then I tried before at Donald & Lily, it was good but unfortunately it has closed down.

I google search for the less tourist one….. In resultant I was here at Bess Kopitiam.

Apparently, the Nyonya Laksa is a must TRY here. Even my Malaccan blogger friend will often dapao their Nyonya Laksa whenever she return hometown. The crowd here are mostly locals, the prices are quite affordable too.

Nyonya Laksa is a rich, coconut-based broth that originated from Melaka. The creamy broth consists of coconut milk. Tops with julienned cucumber, prawns, sliced fish cakes, bean sprout, hard boiled egg and bean curd puffs.

Looking at the color…. it was really rich, creamy and flavorful.

All in all, the Nyonya Laksa was the best, then follow up with Bihun Siam. They also sell the homemade Nyonya Pineapple Tarts, but taste average only.

6) Klebang Original Coconut Shake

Before leaving Melaka, we decided to stop over Klebang Coconut Shake for the popular coconut shake and some snacks. This place is often crowded. But probably because we were early and it was on weekday, hence there wasn’t much crowd.

The huge sign arch is pretty visible on the side of the busy road.

The coconut shake are freshly made. Ice+ Cocounut Flesh + Coconut Juice, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was quite refreshing and also a thirst quencher drink on a hot and sunny day!

We also tried the Nasi Lemak bungkus, Bihun Goreng and Onde-onde. I would conclude that the coconut shake was good, whilst the rest were just mediocre.

Address: Lot 130, Solok Kampung Bahagia, 75200 Klebang Besar, Malacca

Operation Hours: Daily (11am – 6.30pm) , Friday (2.30pm – 6.30pm)

~That’s the end of our short trip to Melaka…See you soon…~

3D2N Staycation @Hilton Garden Inn Puchong

During the mid-year school holidays, we planned for a short 3D2N staycation at Hilton Garden Inn Puchong. I knew about this hotel through a blogger friend of mine. Apparently it is a new hotel commenced from October 2018 located at Puchong Perdana.

It wasn’t difficult to locate this hotel with the help of Waze 🙂

Ample of car park for guests and its free.

Hilton Garden Inn was attached to a mall named M Square Mall owned by Parkson. Somehow it couldn’t made it and has closed down this year. 😦

At the Hotel Lobby for check-in, the process was alright.

The new hotel comprises 255 well-furnished guest rooms and suites of different sizes with an option of either a city or lake view.

24-hour Pavillion Pantry convenience mart, located at Level 6 same level as the Hotel Lobby.

Outdoor salt water swimming pool with heated jacuzzi.

(Adult pool, Kids pool & Jacuzzi)

I would suggest you to join Hilton Honors, a loyalty program to enjoy more benefits like, better room rate, earn points from every stay under hotels managed by Hilton group. Its very simple and free of charge by just signing up via https://www.hilton.com/en/hilton-honors/

Accumulated points will be rewarded with hotel stay.

I booked the King Deluxe Room at a good rate of RM2XX inclusive of breakfast. It was really a good deal. Do check it out yourself.

Room size, 36 sq.m./388 sq.ft with comfortable mattress and pillows.

View from our room.

55-inch HDTV in bedroom and spacious desk with ergonomic chair! Complimentary Wifi in the room too. Hence it is quite suitable for family or business travelers.

Mini Fridge is also available in the room.

Little pantry that comes with kettle, bottled water, sachet tea and coffee.

Safe box, iron, ironing board are found in the wardrobe.

Bathroom with Separate Bathtub

Hands up if you too like big mirrors with good lighting! 😀

Bathroom toiletries.

I read from their website that the hotel provides “Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries”. But not sure why we only got the above. May be ran out of stock. Hmmm……

Since it was raining the noon we check-in, so Jet settled with Bath Tub first la.

We settled our dinner here at The Garden Grille restaurant during the first night.

The Garden Grille; al-fresco dining or indoor dining located at level 6 same floor as lobby. Offering both Asian & Western food.

If you want to opt for room dining, it is available from 7pm to 10pm.

But since we were the hotel guest, we were given 20% discount off bill.

Pizza

Thin and crispy crust pizza just like how we liked it this way.

Nasi Goreng Kampung

Seafood Tom Yam

The 1 page ala-carte food menu is quite simple. These few dishes we had were quite good. I would say the portion was generous for the price.

We had a good sleep , recharged and ready for the buffet breakfast! 🙂

Breakfast was at Garden Grille. As we enter the dining room, on the left hand side was the cold section. Of fruits, salad, ham, cheese, yogurt and fruit juice.

Selections of fruit juice.

Food were placed in these sexy red cast iron cookware.

F&B Manager (in dark blue coat) was quite friendly and attentive towards the guests.

Cereal and Bread corner

Porridge & condiments

Make your own Waffle here.

I like peanut butter + chocolate spread 🙂

The breakfast here was just average. Food varieties wasn’t that much. But I must compliment their croissant. It was so good! Crisp and buttery pastry.

After the breakfast, I took a drive to Sunway Pyramid which was about 10km away.

Vacation will not be complete without spending time at the swimming pool.

Jet had fun playing at the pool.

*Playdoh time & Snack time.

Staycation means no house chores! HAHA! 😀

We literally just laze around,  to relax our mind and body. You may think that I am silly. But I think its workable.

We really enjoyed our stay here at Hilton Garden Inn Puchong.

Other facilities available here are gym room, meeting room and laundry.

Make your reservation at their website:-

https://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/

Hilton Garden Inn Puchong

Address: Jalan DM2, Desa Millennia, 47150 Puchong, Selangor

Phone: 03-8084 1299

If you are fan of Chinese Dim Sum, there are quite varieties of them at Puchong. I drove to Foo Hing Dim Sum House , about 4km away (open daily from 7am to 3pm) at Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Address: 1st Flr, No. 31, 33, 35-G, Jalan Puteri 2/6, Bandar Puteri Puchong, 47100 Puchong, Selangor

Phone: 03-8060 0546

As we arrived around 1pm, the restaurant was quite crowded. But we were given a number and waited for the staff to call out our number. Although it was crowded, but the waiting time was around 15 minutes.

We seated at the air-conditioned room. You will see staff carrying tray filled with dim sum be it steam or fried. Just raise your hand they will come over to you. Besides that, you can also order certain dim sum from the menu.

At Foo Hing Dim Sum House, the Portuguese Egg Tart is a MUST order. It was very nice and freshly baked. Crispy layered crust with smooth egg custard filling.

Hotel Review : Hotel Arissa Melaka

During end of last year’s school break, I decided to spend 2 nights at  Melaka together with my family. Although I did the online booking 1 month ahead, but there wasn’t much choice of hotel that has Family Room. It is either very expensive or its booked.

I came across Hotel Arissa Melaka, a boutique hotel which is quite new. The building has total of 74 rooms. If I’m not mistaken it was since year 2016. Read some positive reviews from the former guests. Hence I booked a Premier Room for 2 nights at around RM420 inclusive of breakfast. The hotel is located in Melaka city. So, I think location wise is considered good since its located in town.

IMG_20181227_145127

This is the Hotel Lobby.

IMG_20181227_144836

The check-in process was quite fast because I’ve already made payment when I did the online booking. However a security deposit of RM50 is required upon checking in. This deposit is refundable during check out.

If you are driving, you can park your car at the open-air car park just behind the building. It is free. I will usually drive and park at the hotel, then move around Melaka city using Grab car, to save hassle. hehe…..

IMG_20181227_145150

Melaka1

The hotel’s lobby has many nice photo spots.

Melaka

These old-school biscuits are available at the hotel’s lobby. And its free for guests! So, while waiting for check-in or your car to arrive, you can also munch on these biscuits. 🙂 That’s a very nice gesture.

IMG_20181227_150007

The room looked new and clean. Furthermore the interior is nice and modern. I like the color combinations too. Premier Room sized  29 m²/312 ft² with 1 single bed and 1 queen bed.

IMG_20181227_150243

IMG_20181227_150326

  • no cupboard. just a rod with hangers
  • free mineral water (daily)
  • free instant coffee and tea
  • mini refrigerator, safe box, TV, hair dryer, kettle, mini size hair & body shampoo.
  • towels
  • Wifi

IMG_20181227_150310

Don’t worry about the glass window of the bathroom. You can use the blind to have some privacy. hehe…

IMG_20181229_083341

IMG_20181228_083817

IMG_20181228_083134

Daily buffet breakfast till 10am. The buffet spread was quite limited. But if you are not fussy, it is enough to fill your stomach too. Buffet breakfast is also payable on the post. If I was not mistaken it was RM15 per person.

IMG_20181227_205014

Distance to Jonker Walk is around 1km. However Hotel Arissa do provide shuttle to and fro Jonker Street. Above was the time schedule.

map

IMG_20181227_172908

Are you a fan of Melaka’s famous satay celup? The popular Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup is just a walking distance from the hotel. I would advise you to go as early as you can. (before 6pm). It will be quite crowded on weekends.

(Operation Hours: 4pm – 12am)

IMG_20181229_111730

Other than Satay Celup, what food can we can within this hotel? There’s this nice cendol and Nyonya Assam Pedas Fish available at Living Water Kopitiam. It it located at a row of shop just next to the hotel.

Besides that, there is a convenient store attached to the hotel. But in case you needed drinks or snacks when the store is closed, there’s a vending machine in front of the convenient store.

A simple hotel suitable for short stay. All in all the hotel is not bad. But it will be much better if the room is slightly bigger.

Staycation at Dorsett KL Hotel & Hi-Tea at Majestic Hotel KL

IMG_20180805_100932_resized_20181129_120528657

2018 marked our 10th Anniversary. A decade old of friendship.

We started off as virtual friends through a wedding forum called Malaysia Brides. Back then we were all doing preparations for our wedding. 10 years later we are now busy with our own children. 😀

Although we do not meet each other that often now, but we still keep in touch via social media. Thus our life is not as carefree as before, but celebrating our 10 years Anniversary is in our MUST DO list.

Choosing KL as the destination would be more convenient and easily achieved.

Dorsett KL3

We looked forward for the day to come. Because its gonna be a kid-free day for 3 of us. Thanks to Ashley who did all the reservation!

The agenda was Hotel Stay, Hi-Tea, Shopping, Makan and tidur. 😀

IMG_20180804_145027_resized_20181129_120958969

Our one night staycation at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the heart of KL Golden Triangle. Nearest shopping mall is Pavilion KL which is about 5-10 minutes walk.

Nice packaging of a complete set of bath toiletries.

IMG_20180804_154609_resized_20181129_120915424

After getting a quick rest in our room, we proceeded to our planned hi-tea. Using the e-hailing service, we went for hi-tea at The Majestic Hotel KL. There are several rooms allowing you to have hi-tea with different kind of atmosphere. We chose the ‘Drawing Room’. The interior of Drawing Room has a taste of English +Colonial ambiance.

Dorsett KL2

While waiting for the Waiter to bring our tea set, and the room was still vacant, why not take some nice photos here.

IMG_20180804_154911_resized_20181129_120914871

The Hi-Tea set priced at RM85 per pax includes one English Tea.

IMG_20180804_160158_resized_20181129_120731914

Thanks to the Hotel staff for taking this nice photo of us. Felt like a rich tai tai enjoying hi-tea session. I like the ambiance. I like the service. But I felt the food were just average.

IMG_20180804_230144_resized_20181129_120733710

That night, the gals decided to surprise me with a birthday gift. Their plan was to leave it on the white bedspread bed so that I would notice it after I came out from bathroom. But being a short sighted person without spectacle, all images are blur. I continue chit chatting with them as though nothing was around me. To cut a long story short, all of us burst out laughing and more laughter at the end. LOL!

Thank you for pampering me on my birthday!!

IMG_20180805_091140_resized_20181129_120526640

We woke up early the next morning and went for the hotel’s breakfast. Guess which plate belongs to me? hehe…Of course the bigger amount one lor. The breakfast selections was alright. I felt the Nasi Lemak was quite nice.

Dorsett KL1

Before time for check-out, kill time with more wefie . 😀

In the early days, we named ourselves as Powerpuff Girls. That was during the time when we don’t have kids yet. Then later we changed to “Danger! Poison Inside!” mainly because we like to poison each other with online shopping, offers & etc. We shop anything from tupperware, pots, food, clothing. Hence we often ended up with small and big bags of loots purchased on behalf 😀

Dear Ashley & Wanyi,

I treasure our friendship.

Although I do not rant much nor talk about my problems, but when I need to speak out, you girls will be my first listener.

I miss our carefree life. But we can’t turn back time. We laughed alot when we spend time during holidays.

Besides that, you all are my translator when I need to read Chinese characters. 😀
Hope our friendship will remain till we grow old with white hair.

Hotel Review: Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Hotel

IMG_20180325_091035

Early this year, we went for a family trip within Malaysia via flight. It was Jet’s second time boarding on plane since he was 2 years old. But during that time he barely know much. Now he’s more bigger and chatty, he enjoyed the ride and know what’s going on.

IMG_20180325_103707

As we arrived Langkawi Airport, Jet said, “Mummy, lets look at the map”. 😀

At the airport arrival hall, there is a row of counters offering car rental and travel packages within the island. If you want to save some hassle, you can pre-book before you arrive. For my 3days 2 nights trip, I rented a car from this company. I was given a rate of RM140 (during non-peak season). Meaning its RM70/night. Very good price! However the price may vary during school break or festive holidays. I got a Proton Saga FLX (Auto). I wouldn’t say the car condition was tip top but still acceptable.

IMG_20180325_190436

Seems like hotels at Pantai Cenang are more expensive. Therefore I changed my mind to book a hotel at Kuah. I got to know about this hotel from my friend who was coincidentally traveling to Langkawi a day later than me. Driving distance from airport to Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Hotel is about 14km (approx. 30 minutes). From Pantai Cenang to Kuah will only need 14.2km. Since we got a car to move about, so I thought staying in Kuah wouldn’t be a problem.

Car Park is available at this premise. But quite limited. Otherwise full, you can opt to park at the opposite car park lot at RM5/entry. It is waiveable for hotel guest.

IMG_20180325_173607

“Initially it was known as Langkawi Yacht Club. In 1999, the royal patron of the club Sultan of Kedah state conferred the ‘Royal’ title to the club. Over the years, the club has grown in its stature and become one of the top favorites to the yachters from all over the world.”

At year 2015, the club undergone a major renovation. Level-1 there will be a lobby and a reception area. There are total 32 boutique rooms. So, I can say that our room is pretty new. 🙂

IMG_20180325_162804

Hill View Family Room.

We booked the room for RM622 for 2 nights inclusive of breakfast via Expedia. The 31 m² area room with 2 Queen size bed.

IMG_20180325_162838

There’s also sufficient space for luggage.

Other amenities are kettle, instant coffee, bedroom slippers, complimentary drinking water in bottle, television, free wifi, refrigerator, in room safe box.

IMG_20180325_163100

The Family Room does not have seaview but only nature view. We could see monkeys climbing the trees ……………

also spotted the Macho Eagle flying around here. Not one but a few of them.

The AL-fresco breakfast area.

IMG_20180326_085346

The breakfast served was quite simple and not too much varieties unlike some hotels that serve like a feast. But it has the common ones like egg, toast, sausage/bacon, baked beans, hash brown, cereal, yogurt, nasi lemak, juice, milk and coffee.

IMG_20180326_085956

I like that they served Nasi Lemak Bungkus (nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaf). It was very delicious too.

If you are lazy to drive out for dinner, you can also dine at Charlie’s Bar & Grill. A restaurant serving Western and also Asian food.

Dataran Lang/Eagle Square, one of Langkawi’s best known manmade attractions, a large sculpture of an eagle poised to take flight. This 12 metre-tall statue is one of the island’s most recognizable monuments.

“The reddish-brown eagle at Dataran Lang was built as an emblem of the island. According to folklore Langkawi’s name came from two Malay words – ‘helang’ (eagle) and ‘kawi’ (reddish brown): hence lang-kawi. “

It is just situated 690m away from the hotel.

IMG_20180326_084722

IMG_20180326_193212

I enjoyed taking photos of this hotel view, be it during the day or during the sunset. Really love this breathtaking panoramic view. I do not have any complains about this hotel. All of us enjoyed our stay here.

Apart from this, Langkawi is a duty free state. You can buy lots of chocolates and liquor at really good price here. But for liquor there’s a restriction of 1 liter per person in case you are bringing it home.

4 Best Duty Free Outlets are:-

  1. The Zon Shopping Paradise (at Pantai Cenang)
  2. Coco Valley Langkawi ((at Pantai Cenang)
  3. Langkawi Saga Shopping Centre (at Kuah)
  4. Teow Soon Huat Duty-Free Shopping (at Kuah)

IMG_20180326_092917

We enjoyed traveling together now. Just that traveling with a little one, mummy has to be like a hawk, more alert to guard them. Now, Jet kept telling me to go Langkawi. Looks like he really love this place. I also like Langkawi. This is my 4th time in Langkawi. Its not just an island mainly for snorkeling or swimming. But there’s more to explore.

Hotel Review : Hotel Excelsior Ipoh

Last year, during the year end school break, I planned a short trip to Ipoh together with my family.

First of all, we needed to book a hotel beforehand. I needed a with good location and look comfortable. But not too expensive, because we won’t be spending too much time in room. Did some homework by comparing rates between a few reliable 3rd party hotel websites and not forgetting to read reviews by travelers from tripadvisor.

photo from Hotel Excelsior

Finally I made a decision too book Hotel Excelsior, Ipoh.

Established in 1983, Hotel Excelsior is Ipoh’s first international hotel that is strategically located in the heart of the city center of Ipoh.

Its an old hotel. But recently Hotel Excelsior has undergone a face-lift with a complete renovation, which gave me confidence. Furthermore this hotel met my criteria.

Hotel Excelsior is about 10km from Simpang Pulai toll exit.

If you are driving, free car park (for hotel guest) is also available at this premise, a multi storey car park. Do take note that the ramp might be quite narrow to bigger cars.

The check-in process was quite fast, especially when you’ve already booked your room. Staffs are quite friendly too.

Dulang Coffee House located at Ground Floor, serves international buffet breakfast, lunch and ala-carte dishes for dinner.

I booked the Family Room (Triple), which comes with 1 Queen size bed and 1 Single size bed at a good rate of RM270 per night.

Room size is 36 m² , sufficient space for us and kids to move about and also play.

Air-cond was working well and the free wifi signal was strong too.

Bathroom amenities

Our bathroom completes with shower room and also a bath tub. There are hot and cold water tap.

The kids just love the bath tub very much whenever we are on hotel stay.

Apart from that, the room is also equipped with mini refrigerator, electric kettle, hair dryer, ironing facility and free bottled water.

City view from our room.

Excelsior Palace (5th Floor).

We settled our dinner here on one of the night. It is a Chinese restaurant (Non-Halal). Nice cosy environment for family gathering. Besides that, food here tasted quite good and the prices are not too expensive. Do check out the value price Set Lunch (RM14.90/set), which is available daily.

The above dishes cost RM107.60, before 6% GST charge. No service charge here.

Nearest Shopping mall is Ipoh Parade which is just 500m away.

7eleven convenience store is just 50m away.

Not forgetting also the both famous dim sum restaurants. They are just 160m away from the hotel.

Verdict: In my opinion, this hotel and room is above my expectation. Beds are alright and the location is not noisy.

Hotel on the Park, Genting Highlands

Formerly known as Theme Park Hotel. But after the refurbishment, it is now known as Hotel on the Park.

Hotels at Genting Highlands are selling fast, especially on weekends.

We planned this almost one month ahead. This newly opened hotel started operating on early July 2017.

It was a short family trip to escape from the hot weather. HAHAHA 😀

Hotel on the Park is a boutique hotel perfect for those who like to stay together. For the first time, Resorts World Genting is offering rooms which can accommodate up to six people.

Before checking in to our respective hotel, while on our way up hill..we pay a visit to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. Quite crowded too. There’s still queue for Coach Outlet. The selections of brands are not bad. From average to above average depending on your budget.

I managed to book The Sixers (3 queen-sized beds (including a bunk bed). Accommodates maximum of 6.) at a price of RM440 (exclusive breakfast). You can get it cheaper sometimes. Price may varies weekly too.

Room Layout

The Sixers is suitable for friends or family gathering.

Check-in time: 3.00pm
Check-out time: 12.00 noon

Also available is Quads rooms which have two queen-sized beds and can accommodate up to four people in an approximately 260 sq ft space. Another room option for smaller group of people.

The hotel lobby at 6pm. Hence you see it quite empty.

The check in process was quite fast during my arrival time. However an amount of RM200 is required as deposit. But it is refundable upon checking out.

There were 3 working lifts (1 is blocked by the wall).

Food and drinks Vending Machine at the hotel room corridor. I seriously don’t know why they uses purple lights for the corridor. It looks creepy to walk alone. (think too much)

The lil kepochi is curious about the vending machine. Nicely choosing what he wants.

My room number was #3434 😀

Lift and room is only accessible via room access card.

It does not disappoint me that the room is exactly the same as shown on the web. Probably because it is still new. It looks neat and clean. Very cute and cheerful room, I thought.

Queen size mattress is laid on the raised wooden platform of tatami style.

There’s also compartment for you to store some small luggage.

A Queen size bunk bed. However a tall person has to be careful with their head, due to the low headroom. 😀

Room facilities:-

In-house Video/In-house Radio/Telephone/IDD Access/Tea & Coffee Making Facilities/Kettle/Open Top Safe-Box/Standing Shower/TV/Mini Fridge/Mineral Water/Free Room Wi-Fi/Bedroom Slippers/Fan/Hair Dryer

The open bathroom has 2 wash basins.

Shower area and toilet are separated. There are no wall hooks inside the shower area. Therefore I find it quite inconvenient. Where to hang my clothes le? Unless I undress myself before entering the shower area.

(No complain about the water pressure and temperature 🙂  )

Bathroom toiletries such as Bath Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Shaver, Cotton buds, Tooth Brush and Shower Cap are provided.

View from our room (Cable Car & First World). Lots of on-going constructions.

Hotel on the Park at night.

Since the hotel does not have a restaurant, we decided to walk to Sky Avenue which took around 10 minutes on foot.

A covered pedestrian corridor linking the hotel to Sky Avenue.

Sky Avenue, claimed as shopping and dining at 6,000 feet with more than 70 retail and dining outlets opened so far.

On top of that, Sky Avenue also boasts a world-class LED display that spreads across an entire atrium within the mall.

The Sky Casino is also adjoined to Sky Avenue. Have any of you tried Burger & Lobsters? I saw the prices ain’t cheap. But the queue is fantastic. Be it late night or early morning, there are people queing for it. I wonder what is the average waiting time or best time to visit.

Stay tune to my next post on my dinner post.
A place worth checking out.

The hotel rate does not include breakfast. But you can get some quick bites from Eatopia, located at the hotel lobby.

Bring along your Genting member card. Because you could save some ringgits on each item. Do check out the Nasi Lemak Ayam (RM8-member price, RM9-non member), which tasted good I felt. Apart from the Nasi Lemak, Croissant with Tuna was nice too.

This hotel has several photo spots.

One of the favorite spot has to be this mirror effect one. You gotta get a quick shot. There will be people waiting for their turn.

Verdict: A fun boutique hotel with reasonable rates. Sleeping quality was alright. But light sleeper may think otherwise , if your room is facing the road. You may hear the sound of racing bikes. The hotel does not have its own parking lot. Therefore the nearest place to park your car is at Resort Hotel’s parking lot (within walking distance).

Short Getaway to Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson

Would like to apologize for the less frequent updates here.

Today, I’m gonna write about this long overdue post. HAHAHA! 😀

Sorry….my bad…

It was actually about my plan of a short getaway with my family during Chinese New Year. Okay la…I know that CNY has over for like 2 months! =P

Wanting to go for hotel stay but didn’t want to travel far or get caught in the jam during the festive season, I decided to book a stay at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. Afterall its a new place to everyone of us.

Nestled along Port Dickson’s pristine Pasir Panjang beach, Lexis Hibiscus consists of 639 pool villas comprising tower rooms and water villas. Each villa is spacious, tastefully decorated with modern conveniences and comes with its own private dip pool and steam room for luxury and privacy. Complementing the rooms are a wide range of beach and water activities, all focused around the tallest sea water fountain in Malaysia at 400 feet.

At the hotel lobby during check in. The lobby was so lively. CNY deco, performances by the ground staffs, balloons giveaway to the children, not forgetting the quite a number of guests. The process of checking in was pretty fast. Probably because they have many working staffs. Moreover I’ve paid for my room during my purchase via Lexis website.

I got the ‘soft opening deal’. I paid RM680 (without breakfast) for a night stay at Sky Pool Villa. Why am I willing to pay so much for a room? Lets continue reading………………………………

This is where Sky Pool Villa located. Not on the sea. “But I thought there’s a pool attached to the room. How lar?”

Let’s see………………………..

Situated onshore, this Sky Pool Villa offers a more spacious area, yet sharing the same modern contemporary style of the other designs. The room’s brighter tone and sleek furnishing truly enriches and dignifies its aesthetic quality and effect. Apart from a wide view of the beautiful waterfront, its functional layout, impeccable finishing and space optimization creates a succinct visual appeal that is contemporary yet timeless.

These are the key points:-

  • 96 sqm
  • located in the tower block
  • every unit has panoramic sea view
  • 2 king beds
  • private dip pool and sauna in the balcony area
  • spacious bathroom

The spacious bedroom can fit 4 adults. (psstt….the day bed also can sleep in)

Spacious walkway for wardrobe & wash basin, separating the bed and TV area.

Spacious bathroom with standing shower & bath tub. The bathroom and toilet are separated.

The nicely arranged basic amenities which look quite attractive.

TV inside the wall.

Oh ya, not forgetting that the Wifi signal was quite strong too.

This was the main attraction. A private pool all to ourselves. I have to admit that the pool at Lexis Hibiscus is much smaller compared to Grand Lexis. But this one has panoramic view lor.

View from our room at 3rd floor. I couldn’t capture the full top view. The arrangements of sea villas are suppose to look like a Hibiscus.

This is how the arrangements look like. A better vision for you.

You can also take a stroll along the beach.

There’s also a sauna room here for your usage.

Children can’t wait to get into the pool. Wanna go for a dip into the pool during this hot weather? YAY! Definitely.

After dinner, before return to our room, we brought the children to the indoor playground which is located next to the Spa centre. There was an admission fee of RM20 (if I’m not mistaken) for 1 hour.

Inclusive of one free coloring activity.

There were also activities like nail painting, DIY greeting cards, etc..with a minimal fee of RM5 onward.

The next morning, we brought the children to the playground and some bubble play. HAHAHAHA! Bubbles are not free of charge. Need to pay money also. Can’t remember the exact price. It was between RM8-10/small bucket.

These Popsicle are sold here. It is so lovely to watch them when they both are in good terms.

A heartwarming gesture, we received these CNY goodies from the hotel.

Here, I attached the room layout for a better understanding.

We didn’t took our dinner here. Instead we went to a Chinese Restaurant named, Weng Yin which is merely 5 minutes drive from this hotel for some Chinese ‘dai chow’. Prices are all stated on the menu. So, no worries.

Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay. The room, the facilities and the services. Although the price was quite steep, but it was a relaxing family trip and how often do you get to spend on family trip. Its about the quality time spent.

A unique experience staying at Tubotel Langkawi

Hi…I just came back from my 3D2N trip to Langkawi with my GF. This trip was meant to be a relaxing trip and a short getaway from our busy life. On the first night we stayed at ‘Resort World Hotel’. But on 2nd night, my friend suggested we try Tubotel Langkawi. Well, from the photos…it looks pretty interesting. The concept I meant. Tubotel is located 6km from airport, 1.2km from Pantai Cenang.

“Tubotel is the first budget concept hotel of its kind in Asia, in a panoramic paradise, on a tropical island. A genuinely unique experience of no frills packed with tubotonnes of thrills… everyone should try it, even it is way below your budget!”

We booked a sea-view room at the rate of RM180 which inclusive of breakfast for 2.

The check-in procedure was quick because we’ve made the payment through Agoda. These colorful tubes are meant to be bedroom. These are the rooms with sea-view
These are the rooms with garden view. I suppose the rates would be cheaper than sea-view.
Given a key to our Room No. 4, we were lead to our room.
Our neighbors. 😀 😀
Our room at night.
My jaw dropped opened seeing the actual room size. HAHAHAHA! I was like…omg..where should I place my luggage? Totally blank. There’s a small empty space or void under the bed where you can place your luggage.
This tiny room is sufficient for 2 adults. And equipped with 2nos. of power socket, 2nos. mineral water, 2nos of towel, an electric fan.
I was aware about the ‘shared bathroom’ basis, which was my turnoff. But at the same time I wished to have an experience putting up at something different, just like the backpackers.
View from my room.
You can also watch the sunset directly from your room.
Not only sea-view but I’m able to sight flying planes across my room too. Because the airport is just a short distance from here.
A beautiful bloomed morning glory greeted us at the garden.
The dining room, where we had our breakfast on the following day.
You can also choose to dine at the Al Fresco area. Unfortunately it was a wet morning that we got no choice but to dine indoor.
Pick your choice of breakfast from the list above.
Each breakfast set is served with home baked bread with butter & jam, a cup of coffee & a glass of orange juice.
I had Ham & Mushroom Frittata (smoked turkey ham & mushroom) while my GF had 2 fried eggs with roasted tomato & chicken sausage. The breakfast was good as its made to order.
The calm sea after the heavy downpour.
Below are some photoshoot of ourselves before leaving this unique place.
Mattresses are usually laid here…so that travelers could laid back and relax while enjoying a good sea view.
wefie in our room
Each room comes with a different wall painting. And we got a sexy bikini lady. LOL! 😀
My Summary
  • Did not experience bad services
  • More suitable for backpackers, light or solo travellers
  • Nice sea-view
  • Although the room is small…but there are space for you to roam around outside.
  • dislike the fact about shared bathroom. haha….
  • Wifi is provided for free at the lobby area.
  • Wasn’t aware about the Jacuzzi.
