We celebrated Vernice’s Birthday @The Manhattan Fish Market, Seremban

It was Vernice, my beloved niece’s birthday.

Vernice turns 3 on 25th of March.

Her mom, my sis decided to celebrate Vernice’s birthday at The Manhattan Fish Market, Seremban. The Manhattan Fish Market is currently offering great savings set meals called “Greatest Hits From the Ocean” starts from 1st March to 29th April 2012.

We chose ‘Chart Highlight’.

With every purchase of  “Greatest Hits From the Ocean” , you are entitle to purchase these starters (shown above) with a discount of 50%.

We decided to get 1 Fried Country Mushroom. Crispy battered button mushrooms served with Cajun Honey Mustard.

We also add on Cream of Mushroom Soup.

 ‘Chart Highlight’ comprised of 1 Caeser Salad

1 Grilled Catch of the Day – Dory (Light)

1 Small Grill (Flaming prawns served with grilled squids, fish fillet, Chips, garlic herb rice with broccoli and carrots on the side )

1 Giant Fried Platter (Chips, fried fish nuggets, shrimps, calamari, fried country mushrooms, embedded with garlic herb rice)

See how my niece pose (ok la…I admit..she learnt from me..the poser yiyi)

Some said their standard of quality has deteriorate. However the food I had that day were all good. The seafood were quite fresh, especially the prawns. I specifically love the flavorful Garlic Herb Rice very much.

Sis ordered a beautiful set of cupcakes for Vernice. One of her favorite cartoon character, Angry Birds! The thoughtful baker was creative to make them sort of more girlish after she knew its an order for a GIRL.

Details are so neat. The chocolate flavor cupcakes were moist and the fondant was not too sweet either. Check out her FB page (Thecupcakelicious – Couture Cakes & Gifts). Her name is Leni…..a very pretty baker.

Ello piggy~~~~

Yeah…HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Clapssssss….

Vernice : Hmm…let me rip off this angry bird. Chomp…Chomp…Chomp…

Happy Birthday Vernice! ♥♥♥ you!!!

Better be a good gal ya…& don’t kek sei your mummy =p

Tutti Frutti Froyo @ Seremban 2

Since my parent’s house is at Seremban 2, I would love to explore all the makan spot here (if possible). What I like about Seremban 2 is I don’t need to travel down town, yet still able to get most of the stuff here. ^^

Frozen Yogurt (Froyo) is getting popular these days. Everybody is cautious about the healthier way for desserts. Unfortunately, in Seremban we have very limited choice. Here, the recent one is Tutti Frutti. Its a franchise network which are growing very fast. In Malaysia….since year 2009 up to today, they have like around 104 outlets. Tutti Frutti (Malaysia ) is a company within the NAZA Group of Companies.

The Health Benefits of Froyo
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Prevents constipation, diarrhea and bloating
  • Prevents colon cancer
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Lowers cholesterol levels
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Improves mineral absorption
  • Prevents harmful bacteria
  • Promotes health bacteria and enzymes that are good for the body

What is special about Tutti Frutti?

Guess its because they have varieties of flavors and its self-served yogurt.

What does it mean by self-served yogurt?

Get a cup size (3 sizes to choose)–> Choose Flavor (pump your desired yogurt flavor from dispenser)–> Add Toppings (choose any toppings that you like from the counter)–> Weight and Pay.

A row of yogurt dispensers which able to control the temperature and consistency of these frozen yogurt. Each dispenser filled with different flavors.

Step 1 – Select a cup (from 3 sizes). The steps are clearly shown in the store. And the steps are as easy as ABC rite?

Step 2 – Dispense & Mix Frozen Yogurt. Chose the flavors and getting help from my brother to dispense into the cup. Well…you are able to mix many flavors in a cup too.

Assorted toppings. Looking colorful….

Step 3 – Pick Favorite Toppings. I want to add ‘nata de coco’! hehe…

Would you like to have some glazing??

Step 4 – Weigh & Pay.  Price is RM5.30/100g.

My cups of Froyo for the day. Sadly their Froyo is below average 😦

Not creamy. Not smooth. Not dense. Melts pretty quick too….

However its a nice place to hang out with friends and family. It will be fun to create your own cup of frozen yogurt!

Lunch @ Overtime Bar & Restaurant, Seremban

Honey…I’ll be home late, today..OVERTIME.

Definition of ‘Overtime’

-working time  before or after one’s regularly scheduled working hours; extra working time.

Today, the understanding of ‘Overtime’ is different.

Here, I’m referring to Overtime Bar & Restaurant. Its nothing related to work. Hence Overtime has became a popular hangout place. There are so many outlets in Klang Valley.

Overtime is known for their very own STARKER fresh beer. Starker fresh beer is made especially for Malaysian to have a taste of fresh beer that is rare especially in the Malaysian market. The taste palate of starker fresh beer is formulated to suit the lifestyle and eating habits of Malaysian to go well with most of Malaysia’s local cuisine.

Well…good news to Seremban folks. Overtime is now in Seremban. Open its door for business since end of year 2011.

The Interior.

Well..if you are here at night, you’ll be entertain with live band too.

During Chinese New Year break, me and my high school friends decided to meet at Overtime…(a new place for us here). Though everyone is busy all the time…we hardly meet. But we will usually try our best to at least meet during CNY.

We were there at 12pm(opening time). And they were having the promo of (buy 1 free 1 pint) from 12-7pm daily. Here I chose ‘Aromatic’. Golden yellow in appearance, a medium bodied beer with fresh fruity hints and herbal aroma. Malty-sweet in taste with apparent citrus notes, leading to a refreshingly clean and crisp after-taste.

Not bad…the taste wasn’t too strong and its smooth. For 1st timer…you may choose this.

Let’s see what we’ve ordered.

Sang Har Yi Mien – RM28

Crispy noodles soaked in flavorful sauce.

The gravy was just average while the prawn was not fresh.  =_=

Duck Alfredo – RM19

Fettuccine Pasta tossed in traditional Alfredo sauce with Parmesan cheese and topped with sliced smoked duck.

The smoked duck itself tasted quite well. While for pasta…*sigh* so bland!!

Crispy Pork Knuckle – RM52

Pork knuckle marinated in chef’s secret and deep fried until the skin is crisp.

(RECOMMENDED!) This is the best among the other 2 above. The skin is indeed crispy. While the meat is tender and not overcooked. Moreover the portion was BIG!

~~~~~~till me we meet again….
Dinner @ Chambers Cafe & Bistro, Seremban 2
Chambers Cafe & Bistro located Seremban 2, serving not just drinks but also decent Western Food. Well recommended to Seremban 2 folks to get an excellent food here. Though this cafe has been operating for at least 2 years, but this was my first visit.
I brought my family here for a pleasant dinner. Thus everyone enjoyed their meal. Not much disappointment though……
The Interior. Marble top tables with comfy chairs in a cosy environment.
The sophisticated ambiance
Hehehe….uses Vernice’s toy as ‘keh leh feh’.
Wild Mushroom Soup (with garlic bread) – RM9.90 (recommended)
Chunky mushroom bits in creamy broth. Its tasty & delicious.
Seafood Chowder (with garlic bread) – RM9.90 (recommended)
Dislike mushrooms? No worries….Seafood Chowder is another alternative. And its a good choice too! Creamy and smooth soup filled with seafood.
Pan Fried Chicken with Green Sauce – RM17.90 (recommended)
Pan fried boneless chicken, the meat was tender and not oily. I like the green sauce which is made from green peas. Something special I think.
Grilled Chicken Chop (with black pepper sauce) – RM17.90 (recommended)
Perfectly grilled with a lil char on the chicken skin yet maintaing the tenderness of its meat. Served perfectly with the black pepper sauce.
Chicken Cordon Bleu – RM18.90 (recommended)
Chicken stuffed with chicken ham and cheese then deep fried to perfection.
Chicken Italiana – RM20.90
Deep fried chicken topped with mozzarella cheese and baked to perfection. Accompanied with spaghetti in olive oil, garlic & parsley. I like the meat very much. Love the melted cheese on the piece of chicken and its not oily too. However I felt that the spaghetti is a lil dry.
Chocolate Molten Cake – RM17.80
The warm and moist chocolate cake eaten with the icy cold Vanilla ice cream, was wonderful! It will be excellent if there would to have some oozing melted chocolate when I cut through the cake.
Dinner @ Restoran Sin Yit Sing (新日昇餐馆), Seremban
Seremban is popular for grilled crab. Here, you may be able to find several restaurants serving grilled crab. But the popular ones are just few. However I often patronize  Restoran Sin Yit Sing (新日昇餐馆) because I find their food suits my taste, especially the grilled crab. Therefore I usually recommend my friends to this restaurant if they are keen or craving for grilled crab in Seremban.
Few weeks ago when my gf, Ashley was spending a night at PD with her beloved hb, Andrew…they took the initiative to drop by Seremban for dinner. That was because ‘somebody’ was craving for crab lor….saying “long time din go for crab crab edi le”…..and another “somebody” FFK last minute huh… Apology accepted..due to some emergency stuff.
On weekends, this place is often crowded. We were there at around 7+pm.
Something refreshing, I ordered a young coconut drink, RM5 each.
Chinese loves having soup before their meal. Therefore I’ll recommend you to this Coconut Chicken Soup, RM17 each (serving size for 2 pax). Using Chinese Wolfberry, Yu Zhu (Solomon’s Seal Rhizome, Polygonatum) and Chicken as main ingredients, cooked for several hours…made a flavorful soup.
For main course, we ordered Steamed Rice in Lotus Leaf, RM28 (serving size for 4 pax). Rice was well marinated with sauce, added 2 different types of Chinese sausages and slices of mushrooms, bring to steam. I like the fragrant lotus leaf which made the rice so aromatic.
For vege dish, we ordered Wild Fern Cooked with Belacan, RM10. This dish was just average. Because I don’t really taste much of the belacan. And I felt its rather dry too.
Finally! The signature dish! Grilled Marmite Crab! We ordered 3 piece which cost us RM88. @_@ Quite overpriced rite? What to do…all of us like it so much. I like the fact that you can taste the nice marmite sauce, its well coated on the crabs. Yeap..the crabs were fleshy too.
Dipping the flavorful crab claw into this ‘special sauce’.
Dinner @ Kampung Lobak Thai Seafood & BBQ, Seremban
I seldom travel downtown because I can get almost everything in Seremban 2 (another part of Seremban). There’s one night as Alex and I decided to head to Seremban town. We passed by this Kampung style restaurant located kinda off-sight, slightly below the road with many diners. Somehow, we did not have any thoughts to make a stop there. Until one day I saw a friend of mine posted the dish on his Facebook, saying “good Thai Food here”. All this while I thought its  just an ordinary Malay restaurant serving Malay food (nasi goreng kampung, mee goreng, nasi paprik, mee bandung). One day, I told my colleague about this place. She went and returned the next day showing me a “thumb up”.
WOW….seems like I mustn’t miss this place. Moreover I love spicy food, especially Tom Yam, my favorite!!.
The Kampung Style Restaurant serving Thai Food. Good ventilation.
I noticed most of the diners are Chinese. Worry not…this is a HALAL restaurant.
Though it was crowded, but the food served were pretty quick!
Dun play play….got WiFi summore….
As I was busy shooting…my cheeky niece insisted me to take a photograph of her too… *her signature post*
Fresh Botak Coconut – RM5/ each
BBQ Cockles – RM8 (recommended)
The clams are fresh and not overdo. Lightly dip the bbq clams in the sauce. Both sauces were good. Very spicy too….
Kangkung Belacan – RM8 (recommended)
Kangkung or Water Spinach stir-fry with belacan (shrimp paste). A must have dish in a Thai restaurant! Anyway, this was good though.
Kailan with Salted Fish – RM8
Though the kailan wasn’t overcooked, but too bad don’t have much taste of the salted fish.
Basil Leaf Thai Style Chicken – RM10
We requested this to be cooked without chili. So that Vernice can eat. And she enjoyed it. If you dislike the taste of basil leaf, don’t worry because the flavor of basil leaves did not overpowered the taste of chicken and other marination.
Steam “Kang Som” Fish (Siakap) – RM53 (recommended)
The price of this fish is kinda expensive. However lets ignore the price and enjoy the dish. The fish was fresh. While the soup is spicy and has alil sourish taste. Served under the burning charcoal (underneath the tray). You may enjoy eating the HOT & SPICY fish, including the soup till last piece. Beware, the soup/ gravy is darn spicy. I needed a fire extinguisher!!!
Seafood Tom Yam – RM16 (M) (recommended)
A pot of hot & spicy tom yam, yet not too sour filled with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, crab, squids, prawns.
Green Curry – RM18 (L)
A literally sweet curry in Thai cuisine. Its is less spicy. What’s in the hot pot? There are eggplants, basil and chicken. Somehow I preferred the curry to be more concentrated.
Deep Fried Sotong with Garlic & Pepper – RM12 (recommended)
Deep fried squids was not bad. Not too dry or hard and they are crispy. With a light taste of garlic and pepper. Dip in the Thai chili sauce and pop into your mouth.
Pandan Chicken – RM7.50 (3 pcs) (recommended)
Boneless chicken are well marinated with seasonings and spices then wrapped with Pandan leaves before frying them. Wrapping with Pandan leaves able to enhance a sweet aroma towards the chicken.
The size of meat per piece was quite big.  Moreover its tender and flavorful. Thumbs up!
Thab Thim Krob – RM3.50
Its a popular Thai dessert. Those red rubies like thing are actually chestnuts coated in tapioca flour. So, you will have the effect of chewy outside and crunchy inside. Served in the form of ice-shaved coconut milk together with slices of nangka(jack fruit).
Dinner @ 72 Degrees, Seremban 2
In Seremban, when it comes to make a decision on Western FoodKensington would be my first choice and Fireworkz as my second choice. I reckon this 2 place serves best western food in Seremban town.
Recently, I’ve discovered this newly opened restaurant in Seremban 2.  (just a short distance from my house). Couple of months ago, we were aware of the  renovation. We had a rough guess that this could be a restaurant serving western food. True enough!  72 Degrees is the chosen name. Gonna do an experiment* on whats good here. ^^
A small shop occupying the ground floor.
Simple Interior
Passion Apple – RM5.20
Fruit Juice, mixed of both Passion Fruit & Apple. Has slight sourish taste because of the passion fruit. (for passion fruit lover)
Passion Orange – RM5.20
Complimentary Charcoal Bun with Butter was nice.
Cream of Mushroom – RM6.50
The soup is very creamy. Unfortunately I felt its more on the salty side. Moreover I preferred cream of mushroom soup with mushroom chunks in it.
Cream of Fettuccine with Butter Fish – RM16
Taste wise so so only. Moreover the sauce was not creamy enough. However the pan-fried butter fish managed to uplift the score for this dish.
Grill Pork Chop with Sausage – RM25
Served with mashed potato and salad. I would consider this serving was big for me. 2 pieces of pork chop and 2 huge cheese sausages served with brown sauce. The pork chop’s meat was tender but abit salty. What I like most was the fat sausages. Very tasty!
The oozing cheese from the sausage
My usual Sunday Brunch @ Kopitiam Sin Cheong Kee, Seremban
This is my usual place for Sunday Brunch. Yeap…combining my breakfast & lunch. *hassle free*
Thus I am patronizing this place ever since the “G-Yuk Fun” has moved from Seremban 2 to Kopitiam Sin Cheong Kee located at Oakland Commercial Square. – An ordinary coffee shop serving Chinese Hawker food.  There are 2 stalls which I am emphasizing here. The Wantan Mee Stall & Pork Noodle Stall. Usually I will order a bowl of Konlou G-Yuk Fun(Pork Noodle-dry version). But last Sunday I was fortunate to try this delicious bowl of Laksa Noodle which usually sold out by 12pm!!
Before the meal begins, lets have a cold glass of MilkTea at the price of RM1.40. The ‘teh ping’ here is good! Rice tea flavor combines well with evaporated milk.
There came my bowl of Laksa (from the Wantan Mee Stall). I chose fine egg noodle (used as Wantan Mee). I like it to be spicier. Therefore a spoonful of chili paste will be great! The curry broth is rich in flavor. Aunty wasn’t stingy with the ingredients. I have half hard boiled egg, fresh cockles, fish balls, fried beancurd, spongy taufu pok & fried wantan, all in my bowl of laksa for just RM3.80.
Sis ordered Pan Mee (Flour Noodle)- (from Pork Noodle Stall) for RM3.80/bowl. Instead of the usual peel or flat type, she chose thin, strand type. It appears more like Ramen. These noodles are cook upon order. Caution! Becareful burning your tongue on the hot soup.
Alex ordered Konlou G-Yuk Fun (Dry Version of Pork Noodle) for RM4.00. Hmm….came to think of it…Alex had this every Sunday le.. @_@      A bowl of chewy ‘lai fun’ mixed with dark & light soy sauce, oil and topped with tasty minced pork. Another bowl of soup with pork comes separately. Usually pork noodle has pork intestines, pork liver, pork slices bring to boil together. Here; Alex prefers only with minced pork. You can also opt for soup version of different type of noodle.
**will update on the address**
My Tea Break – Pisang Goreng & Keropok Lekor
Pisang Goreng (Banana Fritter) is a common snack food in Malaysia. The banana is battered and then deep fried. While Keropok Lekor is a delicacy from Terengganu. There are 2 types. 1 is the dark grey and the other one is white color(steam). The difference is that both are using different type of fish to make. If you happens to travel to Terengganu, make sure you must try the white steamed one. Served with flaming hot sambal belacan. Its irresistibly!! (hope to provide you with photo)
Last Saturday, I went to City Park, Seremban 2 just to fetch some Pisang Goreng for my tea break. Unfortunately I was too early. Pisang Goreng were not ready. Therefore I returned the following day, at about 2pm. This round I was fortunate – seeing those golden color Pisang Goreng placed in the tray. Ohh ya..not forgetting Keropok Lekor which is yummy too! All are served warm.
This mobile street stall runs by a Malay couple. I specifically choose only this stall because both its Pisang Goreng & Keropok Lekor are good!
A plate of plump golden brown Pisang Goreng for just RM2. (RM1 for 5 pcs). This must be consume while its warm. A bite of it you are able to hear some “krok krok” sound effect. Crispy batter….sweet, ripe & firm banana.
I like to dip the pisang into this bowl of kicap pedas(spicy soy sauce)- sauce was given for free; upon request. How to make the sauce—> Kicap Pedas
There are 2 types of Keropok Lekor here. The thin crispy and the rather plump size(which you can taste it like fish cake). With a value price of RM1 for 5 pcs.
Dip the crispy keropok lekor in the bowl of chili sauce (sauce given for free). Happily seeing it soaked in the sauce…. YUMMM….
