Halloween Ghost House Dinner @Avillion Admiral Cove

Every year, on 31st October marks the actual day of Halloween. What is your plan today?

Over the centuries Halloween transitioned from a pagan ritual to a day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.

Halloween is celebrated in various and creative ways depending on each country’s cultural influences. The common yet popular among the children would be trick or treat and also dressing Halloween costumes.

This year, I am glad to be able to join a Halloween Theme Dinner.

In conjunction to this spooky celebration, Avillion Admiral Cove has organized a Ghost House Dinner which held at their Bourgainvillae Cafe.

Halloween Dinner2

Okay, I tried to put up the best in me… LOL!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Demon, Grim Reapor, Vampire and not forgetting a Hantu Pocong! 😀

Jet was initially feeling excited to go to the party, then repeatedly hide behind me upon seeing the team. He claimed they look scary. LOL!

Do they look scary?

Some of the guests took effort to wear costumes too.

Scarborough Fish and Chips @Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi

Before this, I read many positive reviews about Scarborough Fish and Chips at Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi. Many claimed that their Fish & Chips is very nice.

Therefore during my recent trip to Langkawi, I pay a visit here for some light snacks. Tanjung Rhu is at another end of Langkawi island. Hence driving from Kuah to Scarborough Fish and Chips restaurant, it may take about 30 minutes drive.

IMG_20180326_105737-001

This restaurant is quite secluded, road was rather empty and quiet. With few units of chalets along the road. Four Seasons Resort Langkawi is located 1.2km away from this restaurant.
Scarborough Fish and Chips restaurant is the blue color house. But you may miss it if you didn’t aware of its signage.

IMG_20180326_105829

Apart from the fish & chips, the restaurant is located along the beach (Andaman Sea) which is a bonus point.

IMG_20180326_110009

Apparently Fish & Chips is the specialty here. Made to order with not only one type of fish. But varies from Dory to Salmon which allows diners to choose according to their budget.

On menu, apart from fish there are also choice of meat, pizza and snacks. Not forgetting they also serve an affordable breakfast set from RM10 onward.

DSC05297

I ordered the Deep Fried Snow Fish – RM30.

DSC05299

2 slabs of fish battered with tempura flour was served hot. Flavors was good and its fresh. As you can see it is served with home made chips and some mixed salad as sides.

DSC05294

I also ordered some Chicken Nuggets (RM12) for the kids. The chicken nuggets are not the processed meat that we got from fast food restaurant. But its made of real chicken meat. It was crispy and tender. The kids love it.

IMG_20180326_110423

The beach here is definitely less touristy compared to Pantai Cenang. Seawater was translucent clear that I could see tiny fishes swimming ashore.

Such a relaxing view. Serene and breathtaking, even the dog is enjoying his relaxing life.

IMG_20180326_110641-01

Love this selfie shot I took with the dog. Feel so lovely. A very friendly dog I met. Probably owned by the restaurant owner. 🙂

Not any classic cocktails that we used to hear, but a twist in flavors and ingredients. At Jigger & Shaker, they served craft cocktails. Where element is handmade or tailored specifically to the drink. If you look at the menu, there’s a long list of cocktails. 🙂

Matcha Chocolate Lava Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream

Chocolate lovers would love this. Ideal to be eaten immediately when its served warm. Check out the oozing rich and chocolatey, chocolate lava.

Worried about getting bored? Fret not. Live band from Art Trio Acoustic Band will keep you entertained on weekends (Friday – Sunday) from 8pm-12am.

I was told that this is the Valentine’s Day set menu. Sounds delicious. Since they are trying to maintain the food quality, thus it is only limited to 20 couples.

Chef Sam, being the main chef, also an important person behind the kitchen, is serious in his culinary skills ensuring the quality of food. It was a pleasure to meet the person who put much effort in serving us the food.

Lunch @The Beast Cafe, Uptown Avenue Seremban 2

One may overlooked this place. Tucked in between restaurants and offices, we locate The Beast Cafe at a popular makan spot at Uptown Avenue Seremban 2.

The Beast Cafe gives cafe hoppers another option to hangout with family and friends.

Printed menu with photos as reference, made it easier for viewing. The menu comprised of breakfast, salad, main dish, finger food, drinks and desserts.

Apparently, Iberico Pork is one of the specialty meat in this cafe.

The Iberian pig is a traditional breed of the domestic pig that is native to the Iberian Peninsula. The pigs are allowed to roam in pastures and oak groves, feasting on natural grass, herbs and lots of acorns. Acorns are rich in oleic acid, the same found in olive oil. Thus an Iberian pig is refer as “walking olive trees”.

The Beast Iberico Burger – RM34.90

Iberico pork meat, sandwiched in between fresh lettuce and soft burger buns is served with fries. The meat is non-ordinary pork that we get in the local market. For burger, they uses pork belly. The meat is then nicely grilled to a perfect timing otherwise it will be overcooked and rubbery. In my opinion the meat is smooth and juicy, consist of fine marble fat that literally melts after chewing in mouth.

Other than burger, Iberico pork is also prepared in rice, pasta and rissoto.

with Modern minimalist interior.

The Beast Cafe is a cosy and quiet place with soothing background music.

English Breakfast – RM17.90

Consist of Toast bread, Mix Salad (with sesame dressing), Sausage, Bacon, Scrambled Egg, Baked Beans. (Available daily from 12pm-4pm)

Aglio Olio with Prawn – RM17.90

Al-dente spaghetti is cooked with olive oil and mixture of homemade herbs. Garnished with fresh, plump prawns and Parmesan cheese. (Do request for more chili flakes if you like it spicier).

Hearty Cold Pressed Juice – RM11.90

(Carrot + Apple + Orange)

Cold-pressed juice refers to juice that uses a hydraulic press to extract juice from fruit and vegetables. It is popular among the youngsters. It is just a hype or healthier? Using a hydraulic press, will crush your ingredients in order to extract the greatest quantity of juice possible without compromising the nutrient quality. In this case, it is wholly made from fruit and vegetables, and are free from added sugars and preservatives.

Rose Latte – RM10.90

Freshly brewed cup of coffee made of Arabica Coffee Beans with hint of Rose flavor. I am not a coffee expert, but I am a coffee lover. This cuppa coffee was rich, smooth and aromatic. Nevertheless the rose flavor did not overpower the coffee taste.

Strawberry Smoothie – RM11.90

Fancy a glass of icy cold strawberry smoothie to quench your thirst? The Strawberry Smoothie here has the right ratio of strawberry and milk! Topped with a scoop of your choice of ice cream. Gives it a whole new flavor after the ice cream melts in the drink. Mine was topped with a scoop of mint ice cream. Hence I got a minty strawberry after taste.

Chocobanana Waffles – RM17.90

Stacks of Chocolate crispy waffles, slices of bananas, cranberries, drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with a scoop of ice cream.

The Piggy Bank – RM19.90

I’m amazed with the cuteness of this dessert. Well, I assumed most of the girls and kids would fall for this. How much do you love your dessert. If there’s a chance, I would love to have a dessert after meal. Its just like there’s a sweet ending in life.

*lets break the piggy bank to get some content*

The pink coated outer shell is made of white chocolate.

It is filled with 61% Dark Chocolate Mousse, layered with Double Dutch Blackforest Cake and Pitted Dark Sweet Seneca Cherries. Not too sweet I felt. But if you are not a sweet tooth person, you may compliment it with the sliced fruits on dish. As strawberries and kiwis, they are more acidic, hence it balanced the sweetness.

Unlike some common desserts that we used to see, The Beast Cafe strive to serve some ‘up to trend’ desserts for the customers. Although The Beast Cafe serves Western cuisine, but in order to suit family diners with young and old, the thoughtful owner decided to make both Western and Fusion available on their menu.

Margaret. T Private Dining Place @Uptown Avenue Seremban 2

Meat lovers will gonna love this place!

Put aside eateries from big city like KL. How often do you come across western food restaurant in Seremban that have pork in their menu. Quite rare isn’t it? To be honest, I love eating pork 😀 😀

I was delighted to discover Margaret. T Private Dining Place located at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2 . This new restaurant is set up by group of food enthusiast who are passionate about great food.

“We love food and would love to share the nice food we had  to people in Seremban,” said both Goh and Hayden, the important people behind this dining place.

Its not about crisp white table cloths, waiters in tuxedo. But Margaret. T Private Dining Place will ensure that the food will not let you down.

Margaret. T Private Dining Place is a casual yet classy restaurant, that emphasized on freshest ingredients, non frozen meat. Apart from that, most the meat source are from Australia. Hence, all meat are well taken care to ensure good quality meat is served.

Selections of sausages and marinated meat (pork, chicken, lamb, beef, salmon) on display. What you see here are available on the menu.

Lets begin with a protein salad, Grilled Beef Salad – RM17.90.

Grilled Australian Beef served with Baby Romaine, onion, tomato cherry, then tossed with Balsamic Dressing and garnished with Grated Parmesan Cheese.

Salmon Marooned – RM17.90

Home Cured Norwegian Salmon using Beetroot, Brandy and Lemon, served with lemon dressing, onion, tomato cherry, lettuce and finished with dash of Grated Parmesan Cheese.

It was an interesting preparation method of the salmon. I love the vibrant color of this salad. No doubt the salmon tasted fresh and so does the crispy lettuce. Both salad was a good start to our meal.

Wild Mushroom Soup – RM11.90

Prepared with Button Mushrooms, Fresh Shitake & Fresh Grey Abalone Mushroom, Onions and Leek.

Using homegrown mushrooms to prepare such rich and hearty wild mushroom soup. Not just creamy but in every spoonful is filled with mushroom bits. One of the best mushroom soup that I ever had.

Spice Roasted Pork Pasta is a fusion pasta (spaghetti). It was cooked in aglio olio method. Thus I love the combination of this pasta with roasted pork. I am so into it. 😀

Apple Glazed Pork – RM29.90

Grilled Pork Shoulder with hints of Apple Cider served with Stir Fry Vegetables and Roasted Baby Potatoes.

A cut section of the grilled pork shoulder. It was nicely grilled and the meat was tender with hint of sweetish from the apple cider.

Prime Norwegian Salmon – RM29.90

Grilled Fresh Salmon, accompanied with Stir Fry Vegetables and Baby Roasted Potatoes then finished with Homemade Japanese Unagi Sauce.

Grilled salmon tasted good on its own. It is well seasoned and not overcooked. Furthermore the salmon skin was crispy too. And I believed it requires some good skills.

Rosemary Lamb Rack

The nicely seasoned Lamb Rack was well executed. It was a delicious lamb rack with lovely pinkish tone.

Wagyu Ribeye Marble 6 – RM199

Grilled Australian Wagyu Ribeye 6 with Stir Fry Vegetables and Roasted Potatoes served with homemade sauce.

This slab of Wagyu was a starlight of the day. It was perfectly grilled. Despite tasty, the meat was tender, juicy and smooth. The marble fats create buttery like texture. It literally melts in the mouth. So yummy!

Apart from all the above, Cajun Chicken is one of the recommended dish here.

At Margaret. T Private Dining Place, there are selections of wine and liquor to compliment your meal.

Margaret. T, a place to satisfy your pork craving and it is worth checking out. Do checkout their menu of the month on their chalkboard or FB page. You may not find it on the menu. Make your reservation by calling 012-638 5967 to avoid disappointment.

Dine & Shop at Hello Kitty House Bangkok

Hands up if you are one of the Hello Kitty fan 🙂

Hello Kitty is an official Sanrio character. I adore Hello Kitty for its cuteness. I believed everyone has an inner child in them. hehe….

Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe at Sunway Pyramid, I didn’t get the chance to visit. But during my recent travel to Bangkok, I tried to insert Hello Kitty House into my itinerary. There are many theme cafes at Bangkok now.

I was told that Hello Kitty House Bangkok is a cafe cum shop cum spa place.

Hello Kitty House is opened at Siam Square One. It is a multi storey building located along a busy road. Besides that, it is strategically located near BTS Siam Station. Its just a walking distance.

Jeng jeng jeng….we were here at Hello Kitty House Bangkok for a tea break.

The dining hall is furnished with pink pastal color chairs, walls and warm lighting making it looked so sweet & lovely.

The staff lead us to our seats. But as soon as I sat down and quickly placed an order, I couldn’t stop taking photos. LOL! Every angle and corners are worth taking photos. Its just too lovely.

Assorted cakes of the day were displayed here.

I also went upstairs. As I walked up the bright white color staircase leading up to the following floor ………………

I reached the upper floor which look grandeur and romantic! The upper floor is much brighter due to the tall windows surrounding the hall.

Apart from that, the chairs, the windows…..all are of Hello Kitty. Literally melts. I wonder if anyone throw a wedding reception here. Feels so romantic lar.

Hello Kitty & Dear Daniel

The colorful menu.

I ordered the sandwich set which comes with a drink for 250 baht.

Ham & Cheese Kitty Sandwich

For drink, I chose Hot Chocolate with a kitty face. Aiyohh….how to drink la….must admire kao kao first before damaging it.

My friend chose the Hello Kitty Tumbler set for 399 baht from the monthly promo. I assumed the monthly promo may varies each month. The set comes with a Fries, a drink filled in the hello kitty tumbler. There were choice of 3 designs.

the cute tumbler that filled with Iced Milk Tea.

Everything is about Hello Kitty here…even the theme song that is constantly repeating, I could still remember and hum the song. Tell me about it…I know it can be annoying to some people. 😀

More posing 😀

After done with our light tea break & photo taking, we went downstairs at lower ground floor for more hello kitty merchandises.

very nice to see, but not so nice for my wallet. Because the prices were not cheap…moreover with out poor currency 😦

This is a very nice place even if you are not a hello kitty fan. Furthermore, I think this place is meant to attract girls… 😀 😀 😀 mainly for the ambiance and the hello kitty character…but not really about the food. Hello Kitty is main, food is secondary.

Lunch @Zang Toi Cafe, Freeport A’Famosa Outlet

**NO LONGER AVAILABLE**

A visit to Zang Toi Cafe at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, sometime ago…

Zang Toi Cafe may not be something new to KL folks. Although I’ve been hearing about the affordable price set lunch and how good about the banana chocolate cake, but this was my first time trying it here. HAHAHA….. 😀 😀 *paiseh*

Zang Toi Cafe is the ULTIMATE culinary experience with menu carefully curated by the designer himself.

Styled after Zang Toi’s Upper East Side’s apartment, the cafe is crafted into a chic and and elegant outlet, and to exudes the very essence of the Zang Toi brand. It is collision between fashion and food world.

menuSet lunch are priced at RM18.90+ onward. Inclusive of a drink, main course and a dessert. Which I felt pretty reasonable.

Set lunch comes with a small glass of thirst quencher drink, Zang Toi’s Tea Punch. It was very refreshing and nice. It tasted citrus and minty. Wishing for a bigger glass. :-p

WEST 57TH NASI LEMAK CHICKEN

Nasi Lemak served with condiments. Rice and sambal were quite nice. However the fried chicken was quite dry. Probably over-frying.

WEST 57TH NASI LEMAK RENDANG CHICKEN

That piece of rendang chicken was kinda small, I felt. But the taste of it was alright.

ORIGINAL HAINANESE CHICKEN CHOP

I personally like the Hainanese Chicken Chop. Deep fried chicken (not boneless) with sauce served with coleslaw and generous amount of crinkle fries.

Jumbo Sausage with Cheese and Mayo (ala-carte)RM15
Served on NYC Soft Toasted Bun
Iced Cappuccino (ala-carte) RM8.50
For dessert, we were served with BANANA CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH ICE CREAM. This is also their signature dessert. Loving their banana chocolate cake very much. Its so rich, chocolaty and moist. Banana+Chocolate lover would love this cake.
On the other hand, another set lunch was served with LIME TEA CAKE, which turn out to be a disappointing one. It was dry and crumbly.
Apart from Zang Toi Cafe, you can shop and dine at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet. However the dining choices are quite limited. There’s Papparich, Merry Brown & KFC.
The outlet is set in an open air mall featuring a lake, fountains, carousel and windmill with architecture loosely themed on Malacca’s Dutch heritage.
Adults with children can go on a free merry go round (carousel) ride here.
Selfie with Jet while waiting for grandma who’s doing shopping here.
Comparing Freeport with Mitsui, I preferred Mitsui Outlet lar.
Pros:-
Nice colorful buildings
Got water fountain & free carousel ride
Cons:-
Aircond only available when you step into shops
Brand selections are quite limited.

Alice and the Dragon Bar & Bistro open since April 2016. Located at the popular spot in Seremban 2, at Uptown Avenue. – a new western concept pub with a bar downstairs for a quiet drink and dinner. A sports bar upstairs with pool & 5 TV’s.

a drink at the lounge

one can enjoy a drink at the lounge.

Tall chairs seating area onlooking the main road.

A simple setup which gives me the ‘retro’ kind of atmosphere. On certain occasion, there would be live band performance here. Do check out their Facebook page for latest updates.

draught beer, bottled beer, jugs and tower beer are all served here.

I like the plaque saying “Keep Calm & Drink Beer”.

We were served with main course, burger and snack.

At Alice and the Dragon Bar & Bistro, its not just a variety of beers, but also food. The young and talented Chef William specializes in Western Food. So, it is not just a bar but also a place to eat good comfort food. Chef William also emphasized that no coloring ingredients were use in his cooking or dressing.

Eat at 18 @Melaka

view from our hotel room (906 Riverside Hotel)

view from our hotel room (906 Riverside Hotel)

On our recent short trip to Melaka, we stayed at 906 Riverside Hotel. We got the Family Room which comes with 2 bedrooms, a small living hall & a balcony onlooking Melaka river. With an affordable price of RM200+, we were satisfied with the room & location. Our hotel is pretty nearby Jonker Street (can walk also).

On the following morning, I decided to bring my family to cafe for a breakfast. You know…there are plenty of cafes near Jonker street, the rustic kind of cafes which you hardly find in the city. I texted my blogger friend, Constance Ann who’s a Melaka based person. She suggested me to go “Eat at 18”. Initially I thought she asked me to go eat at “18”..Eat at 18 is the name of the particular cafe lar!

Eat at 18 occupying the ground floor of an intermediate 2-storey shop. You wouldn’t believe that there’s a boutique hotel on first floor.

If you drive, there No Parking here. Park elsewhere and walk over.

“We served comfort and simple food. Fresh baked organic breads, cookies and desserts. All natural ingredients.” claimed by Eat at 18.

This place is very instagram friendly. You can shoot beautiful photos at different angles. But quite space constraint and limited seats.

*In this case, I trained my kid to pose for photos* 😀

Eat at 18 serves Lavazza Coffee. Macchiato at RM7.90.

Cappuccino – RM8.90

Flat White – RM8.90

Portobello Mushroom Soup (topped with fresh cream & comes with bread crisp) RM12.90
It was a yummy soup I felt. Its not too creamy. Its rich whereby you can taste the tiny bits of mushrooms.

There wasn’t much choice of breakfast here.

Therefore we go for Eat 18 Breakfast Platter (serves 2 pax)RM33.90

From menu it says; consists of beef bacons, scramble eggs, seared tomatoes, saute mushroom, hash potatoes, toasts.

Very hearty breakfast platter. Since we do not take beef, the staff changed the beef bacons to grilled chicken. Instead of just seared tomatoes, they gave salad too. Everything was nicely done, in terms of taste and presentation.

Verdict : If coffee art is your main concern, sorry to disappoint you here. Food variation quite limited. But I like the food I ordered and also the bread. However for coffee, I find it abit tad too foamy for my liking.

A Porky Meal @Morganfield’s, Palm Mall Seremban

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Pork is awesome
Unless you are a jew

Morganfield’s has arrived Seremban!! *jump up joy*

For pork lovers, you may like this heavenly place. First outlet in Seremban and its located at Palm Mall.

It was newly opened on the beginning of January 2016. (their 9th outlet)

I came here on 2 different occasions, to try out their lunch set and the signature pork ribs.

Morganfield’s® is an Europeanized American casual diner specializing in pork ribs.

The interior of its dining area is brightly lit by lights and tall windows. Dining area covers indoor and al-fresco.

come and check out the lunch set priced from RM16.90 onward with free soup of the day/house salad + refillable soft drink. (only available on weekdays-excluding public holidays from 11am-3pm)

This 1 page menu is solely for lunch set.

Drinks were served first, in this adorable ceramic mug. For the ladies they will serve in pink mug with red lip. While for guys, they will serve the drink in blue mug with mustache. I got attracted by the mug and purchased it for RM14.90. You can check out other gifts which are available for sale here–> http://morganfields.com/giftshop.html

Salad (via lunch set)

Soup of the day (via lunch set)

Pork Ragout & Homemade Meatballs Pasta

Spaghetti with braised porky meat ragout, homemade meatballs in fresh herb tomato sauce.

You could taste the minced meat in every spoonful of spaghetti. This plate of pasta was so satisfying and full.

Pork Schnitzel

Juicy pork loin chop, battered in bread crumbs & fried to perfection. Served with coleslaw & french fries.

The fried pork chop was nice and its not dry too. I couldn’t figure out what mixture of sauce was that. Its creamy and with bits of mushroom. Matches well with the slab of fried pork chop. Not forgetting the portion was big too…as we were given 2 pieces of pork chop.

On a different occasion, I brought my family here for this platter! My mom loves pork ribs. She watches alot of kwai lou food program on TV and always envy people’s pork ribs. LOL! 😀

From the above 3 choices, we chose Ocean Madness – RM199.90

Full Slab of Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs, 3 battered fish fillets, 6 beer battered prawns, grilled spicy devil sausage, grilled herby hog sausage, garden salad, grilled corn, corn bread & french fries.

Types of sauce for your pork ribs are Hickory BBQ/Garlicky BBQ/Smoked Peppercorn/The Naughty Spare Ribs. Choose either one. We chose Hickory BBQ. It smells so good when it was served. The fragrant of BBQ sauce. Pork Ribs were grilled to perfection not dry yet retain its juiciness. You could easily rip off the flesh without force. Yummy!!

This platter is ideal for sharing. Should be enough for 4-6 eaters. The portion is big. You get what you pay. I think Ocean Madness is a good choice if you are not 100% into pork. You’ll still get fish & prawns in it. However I dislike the corn bread. Felt it was quite dry & crumbly.

Hawaiian Chicken – RM39.90

Grilled Chicken topped with honey ham, melted cheese & sweet pineapple. Served with mashed potato & garden salad.

I don’t quite like the grilled chicken. The meat was quite tough.

When you dine here on weekends together with kids, they can eat for free. With the condition each free kid meal is given upon ordering one main course meal. Means if you order 2 main courses, you get 2 free kid meals. (choose from the above)

Pulled Pork Burger (kid meal)

Chicken Tenders (kid meal)

Verdict: This is a nice place to dine with pork and also to gather family & friends. The environment and the food was good. Besides that, the restaurant is quite spacious and stroller friendly too. I felt the lunch set is a good deal.
