Staycation at Dorsett KL Hotel & Hi-Tea at Majestic Hotel KL

IMG_20180805_100932_resized_20181129_120528657

2018 marked our 10th Anniversary. A decade old of friendship.

We started off as virtual friends through a wedding forum called Malaysia Brides. Back then we were all doing preparations for our wedding. 10 years later we are now busy with our own children. 😀

Although we do not meet each other that often now, but we still keep in touch via social media. Thus our life is not as carefree as before, but celebrating our 10 years Anniversary is in our MUST DO list.

Choosing KL as the destination would be more convenient and easily achieved.

Dorsett KL3

We looked forward for the day to come. Because its gonna be a kid-free day for 3 of us. Thanks to Ashley who did all the reservation!

The agenda was Hotel Stay, Hi-Tea, Shopping, Makan and tidur. 😀

Our one night staycation at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the heart of KL Golden Triangle. Nearest shopping mall is Pavilion KL which is about 5-10 minutes walk.

After getting a quick rest in our room, we proceeded to our planned hi-tea. Using the e-hailing service, we went for hi-tea at The Majestic Hotel KL. There are several rooms allowing you to have hi-tea with different kind of atmosphere. We chose the ‘Drawing Room’. The interior of Drawing Room has a taste of English +Colonial ambiance.

While waiting for the Waiter to bring our tea set, and the room was still vacant, why not take some nice photos here.

Scones served with cream and jam. Their scones texture is different from scones I’ve tried before. Its not crumbly type. But more towards doughy type.

Thanks to the Hotel staff for taking this nice photo of us. Felt like a rich tai tai enjoying hi-tea session. I like the ambiance. I like the service. But I felt the food were just average.

That night, the gals decided to surprise me with a birthday gift. Their plan was to leave it on the white bedspread bed so that I would notice it after I came out from bathroom. But being a short sighted person without spectacle, all images are blur. I continue chit chatting with them as though nothing was around me. To cut a long story short, all of us burst out laughing and more laughter at the end. LOL!

Thank you for pampering me on my birthday!!

IMG_20180805_091140_resized_20181129_120526640

We woke up early the next morning and went for the hotel’s breakfast. Guess which plate belongs to me? hehe…Of course the bigger amount one lor. The breakfast selections was alright. I felt the Nasi Lemak was quite nice.

Before time for check-out, kill time with more wefie . 😀

In the early days, we named ourselves as Powerpuff Girls. That was during the time when we don’t have kids yet. Then later we changed to “Danger! Poison Inside!” mainly because we like to poison each other with online shopping, offers & etc. We shop anything from tupperware, pots, food, clothing. Hence we often ended up with small and big bags of loots purchased on behalf 😀

Dear Ashley & Wanyi,

I treasure our friendship.

Although I do not rant much nor talk about my problems, but when I need to speak out, you girls will be my first listener.

I miss our carefree life. But we can’t turn back time. We laughed alot when we spend time during holidays.

Besides that, you all are my translator when I need to read Chinese characters. 😀
Hope our friendship will remain till we grow old with white hair.

Halloween Ghost House Dinner @Avillion Admiral Cove

Every year, on 31st October marks the actual day of Halloween. What is your plan today?

Over the centuries Halloween transitioned from a pagan ritual to a day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.

Halloween is celebrated in various and creative ways depending on each country’s cultural influences. The common yet popular among the children would be trick or treat and also dressing Halloween costumes.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Demon, Grim Reapor, Vampire and not forgetting a Hantu Pocong! 😀

Jet was initially feeling excited to go to the party, then repeatedly hide behind me upon seeing the team. He claimed they look scary. LOL!

Short Getaway to Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson

Would like to apologize for the less frequent updates here.

Today, I’m gonna write about this long overdue post. HAHAHA! 😀

Sorry….my bad…

It was actually about my plan of a short getaway with my family during Chinese New Year. Okay la…I know that CNY has over for like 2 months! =P

Wanting to go for hotel stay but didn’t want to travel far or get caught in the jam during the festive season, I decided to book a stay at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. Afterall its a new place to everyone of us.

Nestled along Port Dickson’s pristine Pasir Panjang beach, Lexis Hibiscus consists of 639 pool villas comprising tower rooms and water villas. Each villa is spacious, tastefully decorated with modern conveniences and comes with its own private dip pool and steam room for luxury and privacy. Complementing the rooms are a wide range of beach and water activities, all focused around the tallest sea water fountain in Malaysia at 400 feet.

At the hotel lobby during check in. The lobby was so lively. CNY deco, performances by the ground staffs, balloons giveaway to the children, not forgetting the quite a number of guests. The process of checking in was pretty fast. Probably because they have many working staffs. Moreover I’ve paid for my room during my purchase via Lexis website.

I got the ‘soft opening deal’. I paid RM680 (without breakfast) for a night stay at Sky Pool Villa. Why am I willing to pay so much for a room? Lets continue reading………………………………

This is where Sky Pool Villa located. Not on the sea. “But I thought there’s a pool attached to the room. How lar?”

Let’s see………………………..

Situated onshore, this Sky Pool Villa offers a more spacious area, yet sharing the same modern contemporary style of the other designs. The room’s brighter tone and sleek furnishing truly enriches and dignifies its aesthetic quality and effect. Apart from a wide view of the beautiful waterfront, its functional layout, impeccable finishing and space optimization creates a succinct visual appeal that is contemporary yet timeless.

These are the key points:-

  • 96 sqm
  • located in the tower block
  • every unit has panoramic sea view
  • 2 king beds
  • private dip pool and sauna in the balcony area
  • spacious bathroom

The spacious bedroom can fit 4 adults. (psstt….the day bed also can sleep in)

Spacious walkway for wardrobe & wash basin, separating the bed and TV area.

Spacious bathroom with standing shower & bath tub. The bathroom and toilet are separated.

The nicely arranged basic amenities which look quite attractive.

TV inside the wall.

Oh ya, not forgetting that the Wifi signal was quite strong too.

This was the main attraction. A private pool all to ourselves. I have to admit that the pool at Lexis Hibiscus is much smaller compared to Grand Lexis. But this one has panoramic view lor.

View from our room at 3rd floor. I couldn’t capture the full top view. The arrangements of sea villas are suppose to look like a Hibiscus.

This is how the arrangements look like. A better vision for you.

You can also take a stroll along the beach.

There’s also a sauna room here for your usage.

Children can’t wait to get into the pool. Wanna go for a dip into the pool during this hot weather? YAY! Definitely.

After dinner, before return to our room, we brought the children to the indoor playground which is located next to the Spa centre. There was an admission fee of RM20 (if I’m not mistaken) for 1 hour.

Inclusive of one free coloring activity.

There were also activities like nail painting, DIY greeting cards, etc..with a minimal fee of RM5 onward.

The next morning, we brought the children to the playground and some bubble play. HAHAHAHA! Bubbles are not free of charge. Need to pay money also. Can’t remember the exact price. It was between RM8-10/small bucket.

These Popsicle are sold here. It is so lovely to watch them when they both are in good terms.

A heartwarming gesture, we received these CNY goodies from the hotel.

Here, I attached the room layout for a better understanding.

We didn’t took our dinner here. Instead we went to a Chinese Restaurant named, Weng Yin which is merely 5 minutes drive from this hotel for some Chinese ‘dai chow’. Prices are all stated on the menu. So, no worries.

Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay. The room, the facilities and the services. Although the price was quite steep, but it was a relaxing family trip and how often do you get to spend on family trip. Its about the quality time spent.

Happy Halloween @The Coffee Parlour, Seremban 2

What is Halloween?

Halloween is a secular holiday combining vestiges of traditional harvest festival celebrations with customs more peculiar to the occasion such as costume wearing, trick-or-treating, pranksterism, and decorative imagery based on the changing of the seasons, death, and the supernatural. It takes place on October 31.

Though it was regarded up until the last few decades of the 20th century as primarily a children’s holiday, in more recent years activities such as costume parties, themed decorations, and even trick-or-treating have grown increasingly popular with adults as well, making Halloween a celebration for all ages.

Did you participated in any Halloween party?

The Coffee Parlour at Seremban 2 has came up with the idea of introducing Halloween set meal in conjunction to Halloween day. The Halloween set meal was available from 25/10/2014 till 31/10/2014 for just RM18.80.

At The Coffee Parlour, they also serve aromatic coffee and cakes are made fresh.

This was the Halloween Set Meal. Eerie? Gross?

Earthworms topped with Brain Sauce

Its actually Spaghetti Bolognaise. Fingers are made of sausages. Nails are made of almond flakes. Eyes are made of hard boiled egg with olives.

The Witch’s Potion

Its actually F&N carbonated drinks with lychees+cherry.

Sweetened Graveyard

Its actually cookie crumbs+chocolate mousse

Lets eat dirt! Hahaha 😀 😀

It was a fun Halloween lunch! The menu was creative and the food was good. Although I felt the fingers (sausages) were quite ‘geli’ while eating it.

Wishing everyone Happy Halloween and have a nice weekend 🙂

Dinner @ Inaho Sushi, Skypark OneCity USJ, Subang Jaya

It was on Christmas day and also Alex’s birthday. I decided to treat him dinner.

There’s this newly opened mall in our neighborhood. So, we pay a visit to One City Mall located at USJ25, Subang Jaya. Nothing much to shop right now… but I noticed there are numbers of restaurants here. More choice on food.

We were then aware of their ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ located at 10th floor. Go up via the glass lift! ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ also claimed as Biggest Rooftop F&B Area by the Malaysia Book of Records.

We were quite impressed about the Sky Dining here. I meant the atmosphere and view. There is a Sports Bar, a Japanese Restaurant, a K-pop inspired Korean Restaurant(opening soon), a Thai Restaurant, a Restaurant cum Bar designed in nautical theme and a Live Bar (opening soon).

Therefore we end up settling our dinner at Inaho because Hb decided to go for Japanese food.

1506744_10151974842217740_1723310561_nBefore our dinner, we even went for a movie at Premium-X Cinemas @ One City. More info about this cinema HERE. Other than the usual TGV, GSC, this cinema is quite classy I felt. Although the movie hall was rather small, but the seats (in leather) were quite comfortable and the sound system wasn’t too bad either. Ohh ya…ticket price was RM13 for new movies.

View of the Sky Park.

It was their first opening day during Christmas day. This is their 2nd outlet. Understand that their first outlet is located at The Curve Damansara.

We purposely choose a seat here (outdoor) rather than indoor just to enjoy the evening breeze and the view. Something different ma…. hehe…

My view. Onlooking USJ ^_^

Just like other chain Japanese restaurants offering set meals, ala-carte dishes and desserts. Inaho is also ‘pork-free’.

1503374_10151972462232740_817222302_nWhile waiting for food to arrive. Cam-whore is the Asians habit rite?? LOL!

Started our meal with Ebiten Roll (Prawn Tempura Roll)RM18

Hb’s favorite, Shishamo. I want to LOL at this plate of shishamo. So skinny and ‘kecut’. Life must be tough… 😀 😀

Another appetizer, Yakitori Moriawase (Grilled Meat on Skewers)RM16 Comes with minced chicken ball, chicken’s skin, chicken meat and chicken liver. Unfortunately the yakitori was lack of flavors. Meat wasn’t tasty and I felt they should grill a lil longer.

Tori Nabe (Chicken Hot Pot)RM22 was good for sharing. Portion was quite big I felt. This was not bad. As you can see, there are alot of ingredients in the pot. The soup was tasty too.

One of the Inaho Set that we ordered was Salmon Sashimi SetRM22. Comes together with salad, salmon sashimi, rice and miso soup.

Thick slices of salmon sashimi were served.

Their opening promo. Since we ordered one of the Inaho Set, we were given a free scoop of green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was quite smooth.

To end my meal, I also ordered a dessert. Ichigo Parfait (Strawberry Parfait)RM16. made by layering whipping cream, cornflakes, strawberries in a clear glass, and topping with ice cream.

My verdict: Good in term of pricing and food portion. Prices were okay with that serving size. However the food was just average.

Dinner @ The Han Room, The Gardens Mall

Upon celebrating my 31st birthday (alamak….tak sangka I’m already 31 years old!), Alex asked what would I like to eat. Ya… he often let me decide.. therefore I hardly have surprises. LOL!!

This year, I’m telling Alex… I don’t feel like having Western or Japanese food. Lets go for Chinese cuisine 😀  I’ve heard many good reviews about this Chinese Restaurant that we intend to go to.

We put up a night at Cititel Hotel and then came here for dinner.

The Han Room is located very near to the entrance of The Gardens Hotel. Hmm… I should say, just next door.

We were served with this small plate of titbits (RM5). Its pretty addictive and nice. Not those dull looking titbits that I usually had. The above titbits has mild spiciness, comprised of crunchy peanuts, long beans, fried beancurd.

I’m not a tea expert, but I like to choose Chinese tea over other drinks when I dine in a Chinese restaurant.

Alex was still enjoying the titbits while we were waiting for our food to arrive. I like the ambiance here.

An appetizing Paku in Spicy Sauce (RM8)  ,a cold dish as our starter dish. It wasn’t really spicy actually. Crunchy fern mixed with shallots and dried shrimps. The dressing is abit spicy and sourish, something like kerabu.

Our meat platter. 2 combinations – Roasted Pork + BBQ Pork (RM30) with dipping sauce. I dislike the yellow dipping sauce. The smell was so strong. I think its made of ‘bamboo shoots’. While the red one is chili sauce.

The beancurd (center) came together with meat. The beancurd was really smooth. Love both ‘siew yuk’ and ‘char siew’. Juicy and succulent!! Not forgetting there were not much of fats attached. Love them! I’m sure you have your favorite place for siew yuk or char siew. 😉

It was a gloomy evening. Why not order a soup dish. We chose Braised Lobster Soup in Pumpkin – RM28.

The soup portion was enough for both of us. Rich flavors and ingredients. Each scoop has spoonful of lobster meat. The soup taste kinda reminds me of shark fins soup 🙂 Don’t worry….there ain’t any shark fins in the soup.

Pumpkin vs. My Face. My Face wins…. LOL!!

Then came this bowl of ‘geng’ noodle.

Fresh Water Prawn with ‘Hor Fun’ in Superior Prawn Soup – RM25

The soup flavor was so rich. Robust flavors of prawn roe. And the hor fun was smooth too. Nice to have this especially on rainy day.

Alex doing the un-shell job 😉

Only half piece of fresh water prawn was served with the hor fun. No doubt the prawn size was quite big lar.

Before ending the dinner… I wanna have some desserts! I ordered Thousand Layered Cake (Ma Lai Kou) – RM6. It was served warm and the texture was light and spongy. However it doesn’t look as though it has many layers pun. T_T

Last one would be tong sui for a sweet ending. Hehehe…. Mango Sago with Pomelo – RM8. Hmm… the mango sago tong sui was just average. I deducted points because the pomelo has bitter taste 😦

Alex also got me a small moist chocolate cake by Delectable. Its called 7 sins of chocolate. Wa…so sinful! (Chocolate cake crumbles with chocolate ganache dollops, topped with a generous layer of chocolate mousse, chocolate nibs, chocolate buttons and cocoa dustings) Okay…there goes my 31st birthday celebration. Muak Muak….  😉

Verdict : At Han Room, the food prices are of course higher than those normal Chinese Restaurant. But speaking about the environment, service and the quality of food I had, I’m pretty satisfied. After all its a once in a while thing ma. They do offer dim sum and set menus. You can drop by their website to take a look.

Lousy Food but Great Outing @Green Box Karaoke Seremban

This month is gonna be Yee Mei’s wedding. So, together with Wei Chi & Bee See..we planned to meet up over the weekend. So bored with yam cha all the time. This round we decided to go for a karaoke session. Wei Chi called and made an advanced reservation for a room for 4 at Green Box Seremban. We chose to go during lunch session, the karaoke session lasted 3 hours. Price starts from RM16++ to RM20++ depending on the food we ordered. Inclusive of refillable drinks, soup of the day and 3 hours K-session.

2013-08-31 11.54.58Wei Chi, Bee See & Yee Mei (BTB)… they are my friends since Secondary School. Exception for Wei Chi… knew her since Primary 3. Still keeping in touch…despite everyone has their own life, not bad right 😉

2013-08-31 11.52.52Bee See and Wei Chi had American Breakfast (RM16++).. look so normal rite?

2013-08-31 11.52.32Yee Mei and I had Cantonese Style Noodle (RM18++)…. alot of MSG taste! Chicken meat was tough too. Can’t expect much from this kind of place. Or just this outlet?? I remembered food at Red Box @The Gardens Mall was not that bad.

2013-08-31 11.53.29A plate of sliced watermelon was served as well.

That day, the counter served lotus root soup and also green bean soup. The lotus root soup was so tasty… more on MSG taste 😀 While the green bean soup look so dilute *meh*

2013-08-31 12.33.55Honestly, I couldn’t catch up with these days new songs. I still tune on the radio everyday. Yet… its like I don’t really recall what’s the latest song now. Other than those K-pop which I don’t understand a single word besides Sarangheyo. LOL!! So, guess what…. the whole 3 hours…we were singing songs mostly by Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Britney Spears, Savage Garden, Spice Girls…. OMG!!

Anyway….we did had a great time lar… That aunty Bee See kept saying; “I can’t sing…I dunno how to sing” yet she sang with us too what! 😀

2013-08-31 14.05.19Duckies in pool!

2013-08-31 14.05.05After our K-Session, we were given 3 chances in 10 seconds to fish these duckies from the pool. Hmm….reminds me of those kids fun fair!

2013-08-31 14.06.2810 seconds was too quick!! We only managed to get 2 duckies. Minimum 3 to entitle to get vouchers from green box. Aikkksss…..

2013-08-31 12.03.48Great outing with you ladies… 😉

My Trip Back to Sarikei for CNY 2013

So fast CNY has over. But my mind still stuck in this festive season lar. Can’t CNY be 1 month? hehe….

HB and I often travel few days earlier before the CNY to avoid the crowd and also the expensive air fare.

734664_10151347320527740_1980988461_n

While most of my friends were at work, I say goodbye to KL. Making many of them feel envious :-p soli lor….

544427_10151347546822740_1548830264_n

We missed the cheap fare which fly directly to Sibu. Therefore we took the alternative way by going to Kuching then from there took another flight to Sibu in the late afternoon. Alex’s friend, Frankie who is in Kuching brought us here for the nice Sarawak Laksa. I also had a bowl of “Tian Miang Ngu” which look like our ‘min fun kou’ but they taste differently.

149460_10151347659132740_727051182_n

Frankie also brought us to this place selling lots of Kek Lapis (Sarawak Layer Cakes). Here, you can sample varieties of kek lapis for free. Very attractive isn’t it? But some are quite dry. I did not buy much, because Alex said MIL has ordered alot for the CNY. I still have those cakes in my fridge ler…next year kena tell MIL not to buy so much for us edi 😉

66165_10151349491927740_1823685731_n

When I reached Sarikei, what I must eat the following day is the Kampua Noodle! I do know there some people in West Malaysia prefer Wantan Mee over this. For me…I think I like both of them also la..cos they are different!

600788_10151349251937740_1276457709_nAlso not forgetting the Kolok Mee. I will never miss having both of them!

563159_10151352932177740_1950076985_n

Although Sarikei is famed for its pineapple, but I seldom eat. Too cooling for me. Trust me..the pineapples there are very sweet!

542656_10151349665587740_479975084_n

Other then pineapple, Sarikei is also famed for its pepper. Have you seen a real pepper plant? I meant before they were process. I often come back to buy their pepper. And I noticed each time I buy, the price also increased 😦

560211_10151352798157740_993487429_n

A day before eve of CNY, followed MIL to a CNY bazaar at Nyelong.

563532_10151351803037740_2046742923_n

It was a wet CNY. Luckily the rain stopped while on our way to the bazaar and I noticed this rainbow. I feel joyful each time I sees a rainbow.

32157_10151351805947740_1589792264_nBeautiful orange sky at about 7pm.

526389_10151351442447740_487768349_nHave you ever seen this kind of dish served in a fast food outlet? Yes..you can only get this from Sugarbun Sarawak! I also never fail patronizing this place whenever I return Sarikei. I seldom order the burger but will normally order the fried chicken with their special rice.

532056_10151353066612740_1594862436_n

On one afternoon, we skipped lunch and felt hungry later. So, MIL steamed these plump and meaty ‘siew mai‘.

555815_10151353585462740_1638452900_n

Family reunion dinner. Some of it are bought from restaurant and some are prepared at home. Too much of food, we couldn’t finish all.

485204_10151353701817740_620259095_nPeople were launching Kongming Deng (Sky Lantern).

69664_10151354517042740_1745442791_n

It was like a fireworks competition on eve of CNY. Watched them for free. Unfortunately I sprained my knee when I was running back home when a firework at our neighborhood went haywire. *so dangerous* 😦

149489_10151354792332740_1452928158_nAs usual, we will go friends house visiting (pai nien) on first day of CNY, after having a bowl of mee suah.

521501_10151364725407740_654898487_n

Time flies…its time for me to return to my own hometown. I traveled back on 2nd day of CNY. Beautiful sky leading my way to Sibu airport.

Balik Kampung….Gong Xi Fa Cai lor…..

Chinese will be celebrating the Chinese New Year on this 10th of February. An important day celebrated among the Chinese. I assume these few days people shall be balik-ing kampung. Tomorrow I will be flying to Sarawak, Alex’s kampung. As usual we will go back days earlier before Chinese New Year. One of the reason is that the flight ticket will be cheaper. Kesian people there…need to buy flight ticket as early as 1 year before hand.

Snake-p11_476x357This year is the year of Snake. So, I shall snake throughout the year. Pssssttttt…. Sorry Boss…can’t help. The zodiac ask me to do that.

Before taking off…I shall have an early reunion dinner with my family.

Lets toast for a better year. Lou ar….Huat ar….

So, I will be celebrating my Chinese New Year in Sarawak and also Seremban! Where will you be celebrating your Chinese New Year?

To friends who are driving..please don’t rush and have a safe journey home.

I hereby wish everyone an early Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

On Mummy’s Birthday………….

Speaking about western food in Seremban, there aren’t much choice. Unlike those Chinese ‘Dai Chow’ which can be find easily.

Kensington Restaurant in Seremban will often come across our mind when refer to serving decent western food with affordable pricing too. I think my Seremban folks would agreed as well. Kensington has existed for many years. It has total 2 outlets in Seremban.

On mummy’s birthday, we decided to go there for dinner. This place is often crowded over weekends, dinner and especially on festive seasons.

A pot of Peach & Passion fruit tea for RM10.

My cheeky niece insisted to shoot a photo of her.

Started off with a bowl of Cream of Mushroom Soup for RM4.30.

I ordered a Seafood Platter for RM48, enough for 3-4 eaters. This seafood platter comes with Stuffed Crabs with Cheese, Fried Prawn with Salt & Pepper, Fried Squids with Tangy Sauce, Mussels Tomato Salsa.

All the above are quite good. I especially like the Mussels Tomato Salsa (very appetizing) and Stuffed Crabs with Cheese.

A closer shot

Chicken Veronique with Grape Wine Sauce – RM16

We all love this Sizzling Chicken topped with Ham & Cheese served with Butter Cream Sauce for RM16.

Bolognaise Chicken Pasta – RM12.50

My family enjoyed the dinner.

For dessert, we had Toffee Banana with Ice Cream & Mixed Fruits RM12.

I remembered having this the very first time was during my teenage time..with my friends. Memories*

I like the toffee banana. Just like crispy pisang goreng coated with caramelized toffee.
