A&W Seremban, brings back childhood memories.

Mesmerizing the childhood memories at A&W Seremban.

Photo taken on Year 2015

When I was a kid, there weren’t much choices of fast food joints especially in Seremban unlike big city in Kuala Lumpur. There weren’t Mcdonalds, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut & etc. I remember vividly there was only Grandy’s (not sure if you could remember this name. Its no longer exist here anymore. The cinnamon roll and mashed potato was good!), and A&W which hang on till today.

Other than ice cream in root beer, ice cream on waffle, A&W in Seremban used to serve ice creams during 80s and 90s. I could fondly remember that banana split and chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup served in a glass cup! They were my favorite. Not forgetting the mint flavor ice cream! Unfortunately they are no longer having that ice cream kiosk today.

I managed to find a photo that I’ve captured at year 2010 when my family & I had Ice Cream supper at A&W Seremban.

A&W restaurant in Seremban is a stand alone outlet located at the Lake Garden Seremban, its an iconic landmark in Seremban since year 1978. I also remember the playground which was demolished to give way for drive-thru. *Sigh…kinda sad though.

On year 2015, A&W Seremban made an announcement about closing its door to make way for renovation. It created a huge beeline patronizing the outlet for the last time.

I also joined the last leap before it was closed for renovation. It was back at year 2015.

The renovation took quite sometime. Which many of us earlier thought its gonna be closed permanently.

Year 2022, A&W with its new outlook! Apparently it is the first A&W in Malaysia having Jamaica Blue coffee together.

Let’s take a look on the interior. Looking so vibrant with the retro touch.

Love the reflection of the Lake
Good Foof, Good Times….yeahh….don’t you agree?
Which is your favorite pick?

I’m gonna try the fried chicken. I heard some of my friends commented that it is nice!

Come to A&W, Root Beer is something you must order lor….

Be it with ice cream or without.

Ini macam barulah YES! The aroma and flavor is so fresh, that its different from those canned ones.

A jug of cold brew Root Beer on a hot afternoon is so refreshing!

A&W has added rice on their menu to suit the Asian taste bud, its called Nasi Aroma, (with sambal on it).

I did not put high expectations on it. But since some of my friends said they preferred A&W fried chicken over the others famous fast food outlets. Hence I gave it a try.

A&W’s fried chicken (Golden Aroma Chicken) was surprisingly nice! The skin was crispy and not too salty. Meat was tender and not bland. You gotta dine in there to taste its freshest point.

Then comes to Coney Dog, which is one of their signature item since last time! Those days it was only available in Beef. I am very happy that now they’ve added chicken selection on Coney Dog, for non-beef eaters.

Not forgetting also the waffle! Its a classic item too. I still think the waffle is nice compared to some cafes which charge you at high price. Introducing the new flavor, Cendol Gula Melaka. Do you know that this waffle is now available in cup too? Its more convenient for takeaway orders.

If malam-malam mau supper, can opt for Drive-Thru too. 🙂

So, malam ni nak ke A&W? hehe……

Dine & Shop at Hello Kitty House Bangkok

Hands up if you are one of the Hello Kitty fan 🙂

Hello Kitty is an official Sanrio character. I adore Hello Kitty for its cuteness. I believed everyone has an inner child in them. hehe….

Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe at Sunway Pyramid, I didn’t get the chance to visit. But during my recent travel to Bangkok, I tried to insert Hello Kitty House into my itinerary. There are many theme cafes at Bangkok now.

I was told that Hello Kitty House Bangkok is a cafe cum shop cum spa place.

Hello Kitty House is opened at Siam Square One. It is a multi storey building located along a busy road. Besides that, it is strategically located near BTS Siam Station. Its just a walking distance.

Jeng jeng jeng….we were here at Hello Kitty House Bangkok for a tea break.

The dining hall is furnished with pink pastal color chairs, walls and warm lighting making it looked so sweet & lovely.

The staff lead us to our seats. But as soon as I sat down and quickly placed an order, I couldn’t stop taking photos. LOL! Every angle and corners are worth taking photos. Its just too lovely.

Assorted cakes of the day were displayed here.

I also went upstairs. As I walked up the bright white color staircase leading up to the following floor ………………

I reached the upper floor which look grandeur and romantic! The upper floor is much brighter due to the tall windows surrounding the hall.

Apart from that, the chairs, the windows…..all are of Hello Kitty. Literally melts. I wonder if anyone throw a wedding reception here. Feels so romantic lar.

Hello Kitty & Dear Daniel

The colorful menu.

I ordered the sandwich set which comes with a drink for 250 baht.

Ham & Cheese Kitty Sandwich

For drink, I chose Hot Chocolate with a kitty face. Aiyohh….how to drink la….must admire kao kao first before damaging it.

My friend chose the Hello Kitty Tumbler set for 399 baht from the monthly promo. I assumed the monthly promo may varies each month. The set comes with a Fries, a drink filled in the hello kitty tumbler. There were choice of 3 designs.

the cute tumbler that filled with Iced Milk Tea.

Everything is about Hello Kitty here…even the theme song that is constantly repeating, I could still remember and hum the song. Tell me about it…I know it can be annoying to some people. 😀

More posing 😀

After done with our light tea break & photo taking, we went downstairs at lower ground floor for more hello kitty merchandises.

very nice to see, but not so nice for my wallet. Because the prices were not cheap…moreover with out poor currency 😦

This is a very nice place even if you are not a hello kitty fan. Furthermore, I think this place is meant to attract girls… 😀 😀 😀 mainly for the ambiance and the hello kitty character…but not really about the food. Hello Kitty is main, food is secondary.

T4 Bubble Milk Tea @Uptown Avenue, Seremban

As of today, many of us are quite familiar with Bubble Milk Tea (珍珠奶茶). But how many of us actually understand the preparations. Today I’m going to provide you with some basic information about bubble milk tea.

T4 Bubble Milk Tea with tagline “Tea for U, Taiwan for U” is a franchised brand originate from Taichung, Taiwan. Having Taichung as their main and first outlet, T4 has now expanded to Malaysia.

In Peninsular Malaysia, Seremban is the first outlet. Located at Seremban 2 most hype area, Uptown Avenue. Parking is not really an issue here.

The simple setup and spacious room yet cosy environment to provide a comfortable area for dine in customers.

Bubble Tea is popular among the youngsters. But at T4, it is a suitable place for family members of all ages.

pro_img_11What makes T4 different from others? T4 uses “Jadeite Royal Tea”, the best reputation supreme tea in the market of beverage.

What do you use to sweeten the drink? Cube sugar that is extracted 100% from the sugarcanes.

Sai Kit, the friendly and outgoing outlet manager gave a brief talk about T4, the ingredients and also the preparations of the drink. He was also very patient to answer our queries.

The selections of freshly brewed tea. At T4, drinks flavors are prepared using syrup instead of powder form.

These are the ‘pearls’ before they are put to boil. They are made from tapioca and it turn into powder form when you crushed it. From the photo, you could see there are 2 different sizes of ‘pearls’. The normal size and the mini pearls.
The boiling duration for these pearls has to be 2 hours (optimal), in order to achieve the chewy texture. Otherwise it will be tough and rubbery if its undercooked. During the boiling process, no sugar were added, only water. Sai Kit also ensured that the freshness of the pearls are only up to 3 hours.

All the ingredients are brought in from Taiwan and its safe to consume. Sai Kit emphasized that all ingredients are prepared daily in order to maintain the freshness.

He also ensured that all staffs are well trained.

The one page menu shows the list of drinks that are served here. Price starts from RM4 onward. You can request for toppings add on, and also adjust the sugar level & ice level according to your taste bud. Besides that, some of the drinks can be served hot too.

My ideal choice would be 50% sugar level and standard or 80% ice. 🙂

The list of toppings are pearl (the common order), aloe, coconut jelly, coffee jelly, pudding, grass jelly, fig jelly, red bean, agar pearls. No idea which topping goes well or suitable for your drink? Fret not…the friendly staffs here would be happy to assist you.

Each cup of drink is manually prepared and well shaken, then a machine to seal the top of the cup with plastic cellophane.

  1. Passion Fruit Royal Tea
  2. Elegant Royal Rose Tea
  3. Jadeite Royal Tea
  4. Osmanthus Royal Tea
  5. Apple Royal Tea
  6. Honey Peach Royal Tea

The above list of tea series are thirst quencher, ideal during a hot day. Osmanthus Royal Tea was quite memorable. Its a basic tea without any flavoring. Hence, it also delivers a very fragrant tea flavor. My favorite pick from the above list, would be Elegant Royal Rose Tea. It has a unique flavor combination of tea & rose. Natural rose petals were added to enhance the taste. Feels so feminine.

  1. Taro Milk TeaI love this drink! Milk tea + Taro (Yam)
  2. Grass Jelly Honey TeaA refreshing drink. Grass jelly was smooth and literally slip down your throat as you drink it.
  3. Panda Milk TeaMilk tea (using Early Grey tea as tea base) with pearls and agar pearl. Gives you 2 different kind of chewing texture while you drink.
  4. Cream Crown Winter Melon (refer to the following photo)
  5. Oreo Potted Milk Shakesmooth ice that’s made of whipped cream & milk were layered with oreo on every alternate layers. It gives you a balance mixture of both milk & oreo crunch as you sip through the large straw.
  6. Passion Fruit Smoothieusing the real passion fruit, it is blended with ice till real smooth. Real passion fruit pulp were also included into the drink, to give you a crunchy and fruity feeling.

Cream Crown Winter Melon or any of the Cream Crown series, this is the method to drink it. Using the mini plastic cutter, make a slit on the cover, then you sip through the gap. Why do you drink it this way? To proportionate both creamer (the top layer) & winter melon tea (the bottom layer), would taste nicer this way. Quite special, I felt.

**iced drink may cause the tapioca balls (black pearls) to harden. Therefore its best to consume within one hour.

It was a wonderful journey with varies bubble tea here.

Eat at 18 @Melaka

view from our hotel room (906 Riverside Hotel)

On our recent short trip to Melaka, we stayed at 906 Riverside Hotel. We got the Family Room which comes with 2 bedrooms, a small living hall & a balcony onlooking Melaka river. With an affordable price of RM200+, we were satisfied with the room & location. Our hotel is pretty nearby Jonker Street (can walk also).

On the following morning, I decided to bring my family to cafe for a breakfast. You know…there are plenty of cafes near Jonker street, the rustic kind of cafes which you hardly find in the city. I texted my blogger friend, Constance Ann who’s a Melaka based person. She suggested me to go “Eat at 18”. Initially I thought she asked me to go eat at “18”..Eat at 18 is the name of the particular cafe lar!

Eat at 18 occupying the ground floor of an intermediate 2-storey shop. You wouldn’t believe that there’s a boutique hotel on first floor.

If you drive, there No Parking here. Park elsewhere and walk over.

“We served comfort and simple food. Fresh baked organic breads, cookies and desserts. All natural ingredients.” claimed by Eat at 18.

This place is very instagram friendly. You can shoot beautiful photos at different angles. But quite space constraint and limited seats.

*In this case, I trained my kid to pose for photos* 😀

Eat at 18 serves Lavazza Coffee. Macchiato at RM7.90.

Cappuccino – RM8.90

Flat White – RM8.90

Portobello Mushroom Soup (topped with fresh cream & comes with bread crisp) RM12.90
It was a yummy soup I felt. Its not too creamy. Its rich whereby you can taste the tiny bits of mushrooms.

There wasn’t much choice of breakfast here.

Therefore we go for Eat 18 Breakfast Platter (serves 2 pax)RM33.90

From menu it says; consists of beef bacons, scramble eggs, seared tomatoes, saute mushroom, hash potatoes, toasts.

Very hearty breakfast platter. Since we do not take beef, the staff changed the beef bacons to grilled chicken. Instead of just seared tomatoes, they gave salad too. Everything was nicely done, in terms of taste and presentation.

Verdict : If coffee art is your main concern, sorry to disappoint you here. Food variation quite limited. But I like the food I ordered and also the bread. However for coffee, I find it abit tad too foamy for my liking.

Tea Break @Just Koffea, Seremban 2

Waahhh…finally its open for business. Feeling anticipated for this cafe to open at my neighborhood. It has been on renovation for the past few months. As soon as I knew about the opening, I whatsapp to my ‘yam cha’ kaki, Wei Chi about this place. ‘Ehh….got new place to hangout’. Ok la…we go next week.

As I enter, the ‘Tatami’ section has caught my attention. Therefore we decided to sit here.

They did a raised platform for the Tatami section. Only 3 tables with 3 seats each at this section. The seat was quite comfortable also wor…

Well, there are also sofa and wooden stool seats.

Quite a nice place to hangout.

Barista at work.

Cakes on display. The choices of cakes were quite limited. May be still new?

As we seated, we were given a one sheet menu. Simple and straight forward. Well, menu not necessarily to be complicated right? Then, a friendly staff came over to take our order.

Wei Chi ordered a glass of Iced Latte (RM10.80)

I ordered a cuppa Flat White (Hot) – RM9.80. When the staff handed the cuppa drink to me, she apologized for a not so nice coffee art. My friend and I then responded, it looks alright. No worries.

We wanted to try some light food. So we ordered Egg Benedict On Toast – RM18.80, for sharing.

Chicken Ham, Cheddar Cheese topped with poached egg with hollandaise sauce and served with fresh salad.

It was quite delicious, we felt. Most importantly is the runny yolk.

A slice of Black Forest Cake – RM14.80 to sum up our meal. The sponge was moist and the chocolate mousse was quite rich.  🙂

Overall, the food and drinks quality were not bad. Services was alright too.

The Al-Fresco dining area looks nice too. But will be abit warm during hot weather although there’s a ceiling fan.

Dinner @ Sector 7, Setiawalk Puchong

Sorry peeps, on the silent blog for the past 2 weeks. Was kinda busy.hehe…..

2 weekends ago, I was here at Setiawalk Puchong. Recently I’ve heard alot of eateries opened at Setiawalk Puchong. Often passed by the Puchong road, but only managed to have a glance at the outdoor facade. Didn’t know that actually this place does look nice and happening at night until when I came to Sector 7 for a drink and dinner as well. There are few pubs over here. Considering Sector 7 is one of them?

20121209_201515

An overview of Sector 7 at Setiawalk. Located by the man made lake.

20121209_185506

559849_10151231652562740_1273018982_n

At Sector 7, they have al fresco dining. I preferred to be seated here, enjoying my drink and meal by the lake. It was a rainy evening. The weather was quite breezy. Feels so good. I like the environment paired with music and sound of water (from the water fountain).

20121209_185438Good news for alcoholics! Come before 8pm to enjoy the cheaper beer. For Carlsberg’s beer fans, currently they are doing a promotion RM5/pint for orders before 8pm! Dirt cheap rite?

20121209_190306Well, I preferred Hoegaarden. RM15/pint.

399193_10151231688547740_564785005_n

All mine?

20121209_190416Spaghetti Carbonara – RM25

Spaghetti Carbonara with bacon and mushroom. The cream consistency was alright. Just that I find it a little bit salty. Could be due to the cheese powder.

20121209_191729

Marinated Pork Chop – RM28

Thick slab of pork! Well marinated too. 100% lean meat! Can’t finish all by myself. Too meaty already ^^

20121209_191825Bacon Lollipop – RM25 (recommended)

Highlight of the night! I like this ‘lollipop’ alot. This can be a good snack too.

Lollipop reminds me of the song by 2NE1 ft. Big Bang! Wahahaha…. :-p

20121209_193553Crispy on the outside and heavenly on the inside. Rolled bacon with cheese and tiny strip of chili! Ishh…..really sinful! Oh my gawd….

Lunch @ Restaurant I Delicious 爱特壹式港式茶餐厅, Seremban 2

Cough Cough Cough…..

hate the throat irritation, hate coughing coughing!

blame it on the bad weather, blame it on the lack of rest, and especially blame it on the lousy marrybrown fried chicken I had at LCCT few days back! The main culprit!

Alright….back to the main topic.

There’s a new restaurant at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. Uptown Avenue is currently the most happening area in Seremban 2. Restaurant I Delicious is like a Hong Kong style cafe serving non halal food. Opened since beginning of November 2012. So, I decided to give it a try.

Occupying 2 shop lots with smoking and non-smoking area.

HK Style Coffee (RM2.90), HK Style Yin Yong (RM3.20)…Both of these drinks are refillable. I personally preferred the coffee over yin yong. Felt that the yin yong has too much milk taste.

Curry Fish Ball – RM6.90

So so only. Wondering how come curry fish ball not curry gravy one? Looks more like chili fish ball @_@

Noodle Soup with Shredded Pork & Szechuan Vege – RM5.90

Normal but acceptable.

Spicy Seafood Noodle – RM6.90

The spiciness is bearable. But not much of seafood.

Honey Chicken Rice with Yam Ring – RM11.90 (recommended)

I like this! The fried yam ring is good (outer crisp & smooth yam). While the honey chicken is quite tasty and its not dry.

‘Fah Tiu’ Wine Bee Hoon – RM6.90

I also like this. Tasty soup with great ‘fah tiu’ wine taste. Cooked together with ginger strips, wolfberry and chicken. Taste like the one mom cooks at home!

Brunch at The Muffin House, Seremban

I remember I once visited this place when it was quite new. But was few years ago. Opppss…..tee hee..

That time they were more into serving muffins. I also remember the muffins were good.

Weekends, we’ll usually just settle our lunch around Seremban 2 area. Because lazy to go down town..The other day, out of sudden, I got the idea to come here for brunch. So, I decided to date mummy. ^_^

A simple looking cafe, nice to hangout with friends and family.

Simple menu with pages of sandwiches, pastas and drinks.

The Muffin House, practice self-service. Place and pay your order at the counter.

Mummy ordered a cup of Black Coffee for RM4.90.

I like my cuppa Caramel Cappuccino – RM6.50. Aromatic coffee with nice hint of caramel taste, which is not too sweet.

Mummy likes her Chicken Pepperoni Spaghetti with Mushroom sauce – RM10.90. I was surprised with the serving method. Instead of the usual porcelain plate, they uses big paper cups. From the look, I’m gonna guess that, they 1st placed the cooked spaghetti in the paper cup, next pour in the creamy mushroom sauce, topped with slices of pepperoni then finally they heat it/ placed in the microwave?

My Smoked Chicken Spaghetti with mushroom sauce – RM10.90 was good also. Topped with slices of smoked chicken with drizzles of BBQ sauce. The not too creamy mushroom sauce won’t make you feel ‘jelak’.

My only complain for this spaghetti is the portion abit small for me. HAHAHAHA!!!

At The Muffin House, they sell assorted flavors muffins.

Types of muffins they served.

Other than muffins, they do have assorted cakes too.

I chose ‘Marble’ Muffin for RM4.90, about the size of my palm. I would say the muffins are worth eating. They are moist and not too flaky.

ZenQ Dessert @ Sunway Pyramid

We often heard about the popular Snowflake dessert. But these days we are getting more and more of the cloning ones. (sorry to say that). What I like most about these desserts is the ‘taro balls’. Originally from Taiwan. And I’ve had a good one at Jiufen, Taiwan. So, basically I’ll be grading them base on the ‘taro balls’. hehehe….then the pearls, then the milk tea.

I spotted ZenQ located near Burger King of Sunway Pyramid and I decided to give it a try. Well…actually I’m trying to compare if there’s anyone able to beat Snowflake.

ZenQ serving both cold and hot desserts. Not forgetting drinks as well.

The popular Taiwanese dessert, here I got myself a bowl of ZenQ MySignature for RM7.50. Beneath is the Grass Jelly ice, topped with a layer of Grass Jelly and complemented with their chewy brown sugar coated Pearls and the jelly-textured starch noodles. Not forgetting also Q Yuan (taro balls). Each color are made from different ingredient. Orange = Sweet Potato, White = Yam, Green = Green Tea/Matcha.

Added creamer.

A closer look on this ‘grass jelly series’. Since I’m emphasizing on the taro balls…I would say that ZenQ’s taro balls are below average. I felt that its lack of the ‘chewy-ness’ lar. Moreover I would suggest you not to add the creamer. It became so ‘pekat’ (concentrated) before I could finish half. **quite geli lor**

For drink, I’ve tried ‘Passion fruit Green Tea-RM4.90’ and ‘Aiyu Baby Pearl Winter Melon Tea-RM5.90’. I reckon ‘Aiyu Baby Pearl Winter Melon Tea’ is not bad. Aromatic winter melon tea and whereby you can chew the chewy baby pearls, crunchy basil seeds and jelly noodles.

***Unfortunately the dessert above did not meet my expectation….
