Tea Break @Midorie x The Owls Cafe, MyTOWN Shopping Centre KL

I’ve missed out this post. I thought I should blog about this place because I felt there’s something nice to share about this cafe.

End of December 2019, we went shopping at MyTOWN Shopping Centre in KL.

We also visited IKEA Cheras, connected via MyTOWN Shopping Centre. We strolled around and goofed around too 😉

Then, when it comes to tea break I decided to try out Midorie x The Owls Cafe. This cafe was put in KIV list during my previous visit to the mall. Hence I decided to dine here this round.

Midorie x The Owls Cafe, is often crowded over the weekends. Thus I was put in waiting list to wait for a vacant table. Luckily the waiting time was quick. In less than 10 minutes, they called me.

The dining area is considered small compared to the other outlets.

*Photo by Midorie x The Owls Cafe

This cafe’s signature item has to be the WAFFLE. If you are a fan of waffle… I ensured that you will have tough choice. Whether you like it sweet or savory. I couldn’t decide. I wished there were more people to share with me so that I can order more. LOL. :-p

Although it was crowded, but food were served quite fast.

Milo Dinosaur – RM15

Milo never goes wrong with anything. The waffle has a nice texture and not overly sweet batter. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. Topped with dark chocolate ice cream, koko krunch, marshmallow, and milo powder.

Iced Latte – RM12

*photo by Midorie x The Owls Cafe

They even have kids menu! wow….

Junior Red Bolog (RM10) , Macaroni chicken bolognese, topped with torched cheese.

Macaroni was cooked al-dente, whilst evenly coated with chicken bolognese sauce. It was so flavorful and well-balanced.

Chicky Bites (RM8) Fried Chicken Nuggets and homemade chicken bites.

Crispy yet tender chicken bites and the nuggets that I was eating consists of real chicken meat. Unlike some fast food joint.

Besides that, I felt that portion of kids meals were quite generous too.

All in all, the waffle was just like how I wanted it to be, the thick kind. Therefore, when I have a chance I will definitely revisit to try more waffles 🙂

p/s: I saw people around me were all having different kind of dishes, and it looked yummy. :-p

Breakfast @Wong Fook Kopitiam•旺福咖啡店, Seremban

My late grandfather loves Butter Coffee very much. Instead of adding the traditional creamer or condensed milk into the cup of hot black coffee, he added a slice of butter. I can’t brain how good it was when I was just a teenage girl then.

Lately, I got to know about this new kopitiam in Seremban old town after my friend shared about his meal there. Apparently their signature coffee is ‘butter coffee’. Without much hesitation, I paid a visit there for breakfast together with my mom.

Located along the busy road of Jalan Dato Bandar Tunggal, opposite HSBC Bank.

From front till the back of premise, there were total around 20 tables. Quite ample of seats.

A one page menu showing list of food and beverages available here.

Signature Butter Coffee

A slice of butter was added to this cup of hot coffee. Stir the aromatic coffee when its hot and drink it while its still hot. The butter naturally gives a smooth finish and creamy mouthfeel to the coffee. This drink definitely reminds me of my late grandfather.

Apart from the coffee, I also tried the Ham Egg Toast. However I don’t quite like to overdone egg yolk. Perhaps I shall request for well done yolk. 😀

Whilst a stall here selling Yong Tau Foo, Chee Cheong Fun, Nasi Lemak and Fried Bihun.

Yong Tau Foo – RM1.50 per piece

Fishball – RM1.30 per piece

Chee Cheong Fun – RM1.00 per piece

I was eyeing on this plate of Nasi Lemak with Minced Pork for RM5. Instead of pairing with fried chicken, minced pork as condiment works well too. It is very rare to see such combination.

Besides the nasi lemak, the chee cheong fun with curry gravy was quite good. Chee Cheong Fun has smooth texture, while the curry gravy was tasty. We mixed sweet sauce and curry gravy, mom said its tastier and balanced flavor this way. Meanwhile, the yong tau fu filling has mixture of fish & pork paste.

Apart from the above, steamed pao and some traditional steamed dim sum are available here too. Dim Sum selections were quite limited.

Some instagramable spots at Wong Fook Kopitiam.

Instead of modern cafes, its nice to see an old shop turned into a vintage kopitiam, drawing people of all ages.

For your info, I parked my car along Jalan Dato Lee Fong Yee and walked over. (Distance around 100m)

After You Dessert Cafe @ Siam Square One, Bangkok

As long there’s a space in your tummy to fill, you can eat non-stop in Bangkok. So much food to try in Bangkok.

I often see friends who visited Bangkok, definitely dropped by this Dessert Cafe. It is well known for its Shibuya Toast.

After You dessert café first opened in 2007. Till today, there are about 30 outlets opened around Bangkok.

My last year’s trip to Bangkok, I didn’t get the chance to come here because I went to Hello Kitty cafe instead, my favorite Sanrio character. So, this year’s trip I told my friend to include this cafe into our itinerary.

IMG_20180505_133557

Little did I know, After You Dessert Cafe, Siam Square One is actually next to Hello Kitty Cafe. LOL LOL!! At the main entrance, one is on the left, and the other is on right. 😀

IMG_20180505_145334

As I entered the cafe, I could see almost all seats are filled. The atmosphere look alike in Korea. 🙂

IMG_20180505_145319

IMG_20180505_145329

IMG_20180505_145344

Over here, you gotto queue up at the counter to make orders. Kinda like self service. But they will bring the food over to your seating table.

Even though it looks crowded, but food was served not long after we placed our order.

I looked at tables around me, they would order either toast or kakigori (bingsoo) or both of them. All the desserts actually looked so mouth-watering and instragram worthy 😀

IMG_20180505_150228

Ice water is available for free.

toast

Extracted from the website, there are total 9 types of Shibuya Honey Toast here (1 is missing from the frame, Strawberry Cream Toast).

IMG_20180505_151611

I chose the Shibuya Honey Toast (195 baht), a rather classic one because I wished to taste the originality.

IMG_20180505_151542

IMG_20180505_152105

Now I understand why people like their toast so much. Although the toast is thick, but it is not dry inside. Crisp outside but has a very smooth and moisture bread texture inside. Cut into blocks, every surface is spread with margarine. It was so nice eaten together with the vanilla ice cream.

IMG_20180505_151144

My friend also ordered the Chocolate Lave (175 baht).

IMG_20180505_151356

Dive in your fork and watch the chocolate flow. The chocolate filling was rich and smooth. However I felt the size is abit small lar. 😀

IMG_20180505_151647

Durian Crumbstick (95 baht) looking interesting. Therefore we ordered one to kill our curiosity. Shaped like a real durian pulp, but its actually an ice cream. Very smooth and rich durian flavor, for durian lovers.

IMG_20180505_151439

For drinks, I had Hot Cappuccino (115 baht) served with a piece of biscuit, while my friend had Iced Latte.

IMG_20180505_145309

Merchandises like T-shirt, Tote Bags and Stainless Steel Cup are sold here too.

I will definitely come for the Toast again if I visit Bangkok next round. There are so many nice cafes in Bangkok now. So, if you are a cafe hopper, do plan it well. 🙂

Oh ya, there’s also a small kiosk of After You Cafe at Don Mueang Airport. But it only serve cakes and kakigori.

Makan Makan @Ipoh 2017

End of last year I made a short trip to Ipoh for a short gateway.

People said Ipoh has many nice food. Although I spend a day at the theme park, but I try my best to cover as much as I could. In this post, I will share what I had, be it nice or not so nice. 🙂

As soon as I reached Ipoh at around 4pm, our first stop was Ipoh Hor Fun in town.

1) Restoran Thean Chun

DSC04597

Restoran Thean Chun is an old shop located at Ipoh Old Town.

DSC04592

It was crowded during weekend. May be because it is a well known place among tourists.

DSC04590

I noticed that most of the workers here are quite elderly. They are in charge of the drinks.

DSC04587

The one thing that everyone said must try, is the Caramel Egg Custard. I would say its very smooth and nice. But abit tad sweet if you are not into sweet stuffs.

DSC04588

Do not miss a chance to have Ipoh Coffee when you are in Ipoh. The iced coffee is rich.

DSC04595

We also ordered 2 bowls of Kai Si Hor Fun, Steamed Chicken and Ipoh Bean Sprout. Total price was about RM37.

DSC04593

Plate of plump and crunchy bean sprout.

DSC04596

A bowl of Kai Si Hor Fun (flat rice noodle with shredded chicken and prawn. The hor fun was smooth, prawn was fresh while the broth was quite flavorful but not that rich. I felt it was okay, but mom claimed it just average. Its all depends on individual’s palate.

The good thing about Thean Chun is that, it not only serves one food, but it has quite a variation. E.g: Curry noodle, Pork Satay, Popiah. Moreover opposite the restaurant is the tourist spot, The Concubine Lane.

Restoran Thean Chun

Address: 73, Jalan Bandar Timah, 31650 Ipoh, Negeri Perak
Operation Hours: (Open daily) 9.30am – 4pm,
9.30am-12am(Sundays)
Phone: 05-255 3076

2) Tong Sui Kai

DSC04636

Just as the sky gets dark, this street became alive. With long stretch of food stalls on both ways. It is named Tong Sui Kai in cantonese. Literally translated as Dessert Street. Not only serving desserts but wide choice of hawker /street food. If your stomach has big space, then you got the chance to try more food.

DSC04637

We were there at about 7.30pm. Crowd start to build up later at 8pm onward.

DSC04638

Each stall has its own number. Same goes to the dining tables. Please remember your seating table number. You will need to inform the food seller for them to bring over your food.

DSC04639

Assorted Siew Mai & Fishball.

DSC04640

Braised Duck Feet. You can skip this. Because it wasn’t that nice. Meat was tough.

DSC04641

Char Kuey Teow was quite nice. But can’t remember which stall. As we seated, the Char Kuey Teow lady came over to approach us. LOL!

We ordered Kerang Rebus, Keropok with Rojak Sauce and Sotong Kangkung from stall No.28 which I felt quite nice. Then we ordered drinks and Longan tongsui from stall No.27. I didn’t order any shaved ice dessert because nobody wants to share with me 😦

Tong Sui Kai

Address: Jln Sultan Ekram, Taman Jubilee, 30300 Ipoh, Negeri Perak.
Operation Hours: 6pm – 2am (Open daily)

3) Nam Heong Ipoh Soho

Makan Makan Ipoh

Just before we depart to Lost World of Tambun, we decided to have our breakfast at Nam Heong Ipoh. We thought to give a try at Nam Heong Soho instead of Nam Heong at Ipoh old town.

IMG_20171127_092213

No doubt the place is cosy, air-conditioned and spacious.

DSC04654

DSC04651

Self ordering basis via iPad.

DSC04657

Drinks are not bad especially coffee.

DSC04666

Wantan Mee – RM9.90

DSC04665

Dry Curry Noodle – RM9.90

DSC04668

Wat Dan Hor – RM10.90

DSC04659

Egg on Toast – RM4.90. Egg on toast is a popular thing in Ipoh.

DSC04660

Egg Tarts (6pcs) – RM12.50

DSC04669

The food prices here are on the higher side. However I felt that the food are just average.

On recent news, Nam Heong Ipoh Soho has brought in 6 robot waitress to serve the diners here. It definitely draw more crowd over the curiosity.

Nam Heong Ipoh Soho

Address: Block B,2-15, Ipoh Soho, Shah,, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, 30000 Ipoh, Perak
Operating hours: 8am-6pm (Monday-Friday) 8am-10pm (Saturday & Sunday)

4) Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum

This dim sum restaurant is just a short walking distance from the hotel we stayed. We decided to give a try to Ming Court instead of the popular Foh San which is just opposite to each other. Both are equally crowded.

DSC04815

Ming Court dim sum is pretty ol-skool, from environment to dim sum. I got the feeling that I’m dining in Hong Kong with Cantonese speaking servers, sharing table and crowd.

DSC04814

Servers will fill the tray with dim sums and approach the diners from table to table. You can see the real item and pick your choice of dim sum. Be it deep fried, steam or dessert as well.

DSC04816

The dim sum prices aren’t expensive. Moreover the dim sum tasted good too.

Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum

Address: 36, Jalan Leong Sin Nam, Kampung Jawa, 30300 Ipoh, Negeri Perak
Operating hours: 6am – 12.30pm (Closed on Thursdays)
Phone: 05-255 7134

5) Dai Shu Geok (Big Tree Foot)

DSC04821

When you mentioned about Dai Shu Geok, many people would be referring to the Yong Tau Fu. It is actually a food court with Big Tree next to it.

DSC04818

Spotted the busy kitchen with constantly frying the stuffed items (vegetables/beancurd).

DSC04817

Everything looks so nice and tempting. Pick your own stuffed items then fill the basket which later pass to the person in charge either to take away(dapao) or dine there. You can also add on noodles on top of these yong tau fu.

DSC04819

It surprises me when the total bill came cheaper than I expected to be. If I’m not mistaken, the yong tau fu here is priced at RM0.80/piece. In Seremban, a piece of Yong Tau Fu could easily price at RM1 – RM1.30.

DSC04822

If you are having Yong Tau Fu here, do not forget to order their Assam Laksa too.. Which cost only RM3.50/bowl. The above photo was bowls of assam laksa with condiments before adding the broth. The broth was rich in flavors!

Dai Shu Geok (Big Tree Foot)

Address: Jalan King, Off Jalan Pasir Pinji, 31650, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, 31650 Ipoh
Operating hour: 8.30am – 5.30pm (Open daily)
Phone: 012-524 5408

6) Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken

DSC04823

Salted Chicken (Salt Baked Chicken) is a famous dish in Ipoh. At Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken, the salted chicken is readily packed so that it is convenient for buyer to bring it home or as a souvenir. In Ipoh, there are many many seller with different names. I have tasted several salted chicken, some were either too salty or the meat was tough. Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken is not too salty with hint of Chinese herbs and the chicken meat is tender too.

Price : RM21 (whole chicken)

Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken

Address: Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim, 24, Jalan Theatre, Taman Jubilee, 30300 Ipoh, Perak
Operating hours: 9am – 7pm (Open daily)
Phone: 05-254 2998

7) Guan Heong Biscuit Shop

IMG_20171128_124400

Before we leave Ipoh, we decided to drop by Guan Heong Biscuit Shop to purchase some local biscuits to bring it home as souvenir and sendiri makan.
“Guan Heong” is the FIRST BISCUIT SHOP in IPOH town with 100 years of heritage (since 1918) and is famous for its Meat Floss Biscuit, Hawaiian Biscuit and Salted Bean Biscuit.

IMG_20171128_124357

A small shop that is packed with varieties of biscuits.

I did blogged about their signature meat floss biscuit, sometime ago. You can read it HERE.

Guan Heong Biscuit Shop

Address: Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Taman Jubilee, 30000 Ipoh, Negeri Perak
Operating hours: 9am – 7pm (Monday-Saturday) 9am-6pm (Sundays)
Phone: 05-241 2399

8) Pun Chun Restaurant

People usually made a pit stop at Bidor before or after visiting Ipoh. Approximately an hour drive, to try the famous duck noodle here at Bidor. Hence this restaurant can be quite crowded during peak season. i.e: long holidays/long weekends.

At Pun Chun Restaurant, they not only serve Duck Noodle, but there are also wantan mee, chicken rice and local biscuits are available too.

IMG_20171128_164226

We ordered the soup version as well the dry version (kon lou). RM8 per serving.

IMG_20171128_164257

For dry version, it will serve with a plate of springy egg noodle in dark soy sauce plus a separate serving of piping hot bowl of herbal duck soup. If you want to have a good taste of the duck soup itself, please avoid ordering the soup version. It taste rather bland. Kinda sad too that the flavors wasn’t as good as I had it 6 years back.

Oh ya, the Iced Coffee is definitely worth ordering.

Pun Chun Restaurant

Address: 38-40, Jalan Besar, 35500 Bidor, Negeri Perak

If you have your favorite makan place in Ipoh, why not share it with me and readers here. Thanking you in advanced. 🙂

Lunch @The Beast Cafe, Uptown Avenue Seremban 2

One may overlooked this place. Tucked in between restaurants and offices, we locate The Beast Cafe at a popular makan spot at Uptown Avenue Seremban 2.

The Beast Cafe gives cafe hoppers another option to hangout with family and friends.

Printed menu with photos as reference, made it easier for viewing. The menu comprised of breakfast, salad, main dish, finger food, drinks and desserts.

Apparently, Iberico Pork is one of the specialty meat in this cafe.

The Iberian pig is a traditional breed of the domestic pig that is native to the Iberian Peninsula. The pigs are allowed to roam in pastures and oak groves, feasting on natural grass, herbs and lots of acorns. Acorns are rich in oleic acid, the same found in olive oil. Thus an Iberian pig is refer as “walking olive trees”.

The Beast Iberico Burger – RM34.90

Iberico pork meat, sandwiched in between fresh lettuce and soft burger buns is served with fries. The meat is non-ordinary pork that we get in the local market. For burger, they uses pork belly. The meat is then nicely grilled to a perfect timing otherwise it will be overcooked and rubbery. In my opinion the meat is smooth and juicy, consist of fine marble fat that literally melts after chewing in mouth.

Other than burger, Iberico pork is also prepared in rice, pasta and rissoto.

with Modern minimalist interior.

The Beast Cafe is a cosy and quiet place with soothing background music.

English Breakfast – RM17.90

Consist of Toast bread, Mix Salad (with sesame dressing), Sausage, Bacon, Scrambled Egg, Baked Beans. (Available daily from 12pm-4pm)

Aglio Olio with Prawn – RM17.90

Al-dente spaghetti is cooked with olive oil and mixture of homemade herbs. Garnished with fresh, plump prawns and Parmesan cheese. (Do request for more chili flakes if you like it spicier).

Hearty Cold Pressed Juice – RM11.90

(Carrot + Apple + Orange)

Cold-pressed juice refers to juice that uses a hydraulic press to extract juice from fruit and vegetables. It is popular among the youngsters. It is just a hype or healthier? Using a hydraulic press, will crush your ingredients in order to extract the greatest quantity of juice possible without compromising the nutrient quality. In this case, it is wholly made from fruit and vegetables, and are free from added sugars and preservatives.

Rose Latte – RM10.90

Freshly brewed cup of coffee made of Arabica Coffee Beans with hint of Rose flavor. I am not a coffee expert, but I am a coffee lover. This cuppa coffee was rich, smooth and aromatic. Nevertheless the rose flavor did not overpower the coffee taste.

Strawberry Smoothie – RM11.90

Fancy a glass of icy cold strawberry smoothie to quench your thirst? The Strawberry Smoothie here has the right ratio of strawberry and milk! Topped with a scoop of your choice of ice cream. Gives it a whole new flavor after the ice cream melts in the drink. Mine was topped with a scoop of mint ice cream. Hence I got a minty strawberry after taste.

Chocobanana Waffles – RM17.90

Stacks of Chocolate crispy waffles, slices of bananas, cranberries, drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with a scoop of ice cream.

The Piggy Bank – RM19.90

I’m amazed with the cuteness of this dessert. Well, I assumed most of the girls and kids would fall for this. How much do you love your dessert. If there’s a chance, I would love to have a dessert after meal. Its just like there’s a sweet ending in life.

*lets break the piggy bank to get some content*

The pink coated outer shell is made of white chocolate.

It is filled with 61% Dark Chocolate Mousse, layered with Double Dutch Blackforest Cake and Pitted Dark Sweet Seneca Cherries. Not too sweet I felt. But if you are not a sweet tooth person, you may compliment it with the sliced fruits on dish. As strawberries and kiwis, they are more acidic, hence it balanced the sweetness.

Unlike some common desserts that we used to see, The Beast Cafe strive to serve some ‘up to trend’ desserts for the customers. Although The Beast Cafe serves Western cuisine, but in order to suit family diners with young and old, the thoughtful owner decided to make both Western and Fusion available on their menu.

Lunch @Hovin Coffee & Bakers, Seremban

When Hovin Coffee & Bakers formerly located at Seremban town (near Public Bank), I couldn’t get the chance to pay a visit. Reason because I rarely go to town and also due to the limited parking space over there.

Now that Hovin Coffee & Bakers has moved to this new location, it gives me the opportunity to pay a visit during lunch hour. This new location of their cafe would be nearer to my work place. Precisely, it is located opposite to Asia Laksa, Senawang. Nearby to Senawang Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC).

Hovin Coffee & Bakers is a simple cafe that offers good coffee and food at a reasonable price. Despite the price, staffs are friendly too.

Often cafes serves pasta, sandwiches. But at Hovin Coffee & Bakers, they also served rice. I’m glad they did, because I’m a rice person. 😀

I was told they have some newly added dishes which are not shown on their menu booklet. Perhaps they should have a simple printout copy showing what are their latest added dishes. I saw the lunch deal on their chalkboard written:-

I chose Curry Chicken Rice set, that come with a drumstick, curry potatoes, slices of cucumber and a bull’s eye egg topped on the rice. The curry chicken rice was delicious, I felt.

When I’m in a cafe, I would definitely prefer a cuppa coffee over juices or sodas. Therefore I requested for Hot Latte with an additional RM2 to upgrade my drink. Barista must be in a good mood today. Hence he made a nice coffee art on my drink. What does it resemble? It looked like a smiling plant.

You can also check out the counter for bake of the day. (cakes, muffins, pies)

I am delighted to know they serve Salted Egg Yolk Croissant (RM7.90) here. Look at the oozing salted egg yolk lava upon cutting the flaky and buttery croissant. It was awesome! There was also Matcha Croissant which I’m keen to try. I wonder if there’s lava in it too. 🙂

**New menu was published on October 2017.

Made another visit here and discovered their new extensive menu with more varieties of set lunch.

Buttermilk Chicken with Rice. Complete your set which includes a cup of Honey Lemon drink. But I will usually opt to upgrade my drink to coffee.

A cuppa Hot Cappuccino with a neat coffee art!

My colleague had their Grilled Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce. The food portion is quite generous compared with the price paid.

I always appreciates the fine coffee art done by the barista. Hence I would slowly sip it down without damaging it. 🙂

Dine & Shop at Hello Kitty House Bangkok

Hands up if you are one of the Hello Kitty fan 🙂

Hello Kitty is an official Sanrio character. I adore Hello Kitty for its cuteness. I believed everyone has an inner child in them. hehe….

Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe at Sunway Pyramid, I didn’t get the chance to visit. But during my recent travel to Bangkok, I tried to insert Hello Kitty House into my itinerary. There are many theme cafes at Bangkok now.

I was told that Hello Kitty House Bangkok is a cafe cum shop cum spa place.

Hello Kitty House is opened at Siam Square One. It is a multi storey building located along a busy road. Besides that, it is strategically located near BTS Siam Station. Its just a walking distance.

Jeng jeng jeng….we were here at Hello Kitty House Bangkok for a tea break.

The dining hall is furnished with pink pastal color chairs, walls and warm lighting making it looked so sweet & lovely.

The staff lead us to our seats. But as soon as I sat down and quickly placed an order, I couldn’t stop taking photos. LOL! Every angle and corners are worth taking photos. Its just too lovely.

Assorted cakes of the day were displayed here.

I also went upstairs. As I walked up the bright white color staircase leading up to the following floor ………………

I reached the upper floor which look grandeur and romantic! The upper floor is much brighter due to the tall windows surrounding the hall.

Apart from that, the chairs, the windows…..all are of Hello Kitty. Literally melts. I wonder if anyone throw a wedding reception here. Feels so romantic lar.

Hello Kitty & Dear Daniel

The colorful menu.

I ordered the sandwich set which comes with a drink for 250 baht.

Ham & Cheese Kitty Sandwich

For drink, I chose Hot Chocolate with a kitty face. Aiyohh….how to drink la….must admire kao kao first before damaging it.

My friend chose the Hello Kitty Tumbler set for 399 baht from the monthly promo. I assumed the monthly promo may varies each month. The set comes with a Fries, a drink filled in the hello kitty tumbler. There were choice of 3 designs.

the cute tumbler that filled with Iced Milk Tea.

Everything is about Hello Kitty here…even the theme song that is constantly repeating, I could still remember and hum the song. Tell me about it…I know it can be annoying to some people. 😀

More posing 😀

After done with our light tea break & photo taking, we went downstairs at lower ground floor for more hello kitty merchandises.

very nice to see, but not so nice for my wallet. Because the prices were not cheap…moreover with out poor currency 😦

This is a very nice place even if you are not a hello kitty fan. Furthermore, I think this place is meant to attract girls… 😀 😀 😀 mainly for the ambiance and the hello kitty character…but not really about the food. Hello Kitty is main, food is secondary.

Eat at 18 @Melaka

view from our hotel room (906 Riverside Hotel)

view from our hotel room (906 Riverside Hotel)

On our recent short trip to Melaka, we stayed at 906 Riverside Hotel. We got the Family Room which comes with 2 bedrooms, a small living hall & a balcony onlooking Melaka river. With an affordable price of RM200+, we were satisfied with the room & location. Our hotel is pretty nearby Jonker Street (can walk also).

On the following morning, I decided to bring my family to cafe for a breakfast. You know…there are plenty of cafes near Jonker street, the rustic kind of cafes which you hardly find in the city. I texted my blogger friend, Constance Ann who’s a Melaka based person. She suggested me to go “Eat at 18”. Initially I thought she asked me to go eat at “18”..Eat at 18 is the name of the particular cafe lar!

Eat at 18 occupying the ground floor of an intermediate 2-storey shop. You wouldn’t believe that there’s a boutique hotel on first floor.

If you drive, there No Parking here. Park elsewhere and walk over.

“We served comfort and simple food. Fresh baked organic breads, cookies and desserts. All natural ingredients.” claimed by Eat at 18.

This place is very instagram friendly. You can shoot beautiful photos at different angles. But quite space constraint and limited seats.

*In this case, I trained my kid to pose for photos* 😀

Eat at 18 serves Lavazza Coffee. Macchiato at RM7.90.

Cappuccino – RM8.90

Flat White – RM8.90

Portobello Mushroom Soup (topped with fresh cream & comes with bread crisp) RM12.90
It was a yummy soup I felt. Its not too creamy. Its rich whereby you can taste the tiny bits of mushrooms.

There wasn’t much choice of breakfast here.

Therefore we go for Eat 18 Breakfast Platter (serves 2 pax)RM33.90

From menu it says; consists of beef bacons, scramble eggs, seared tomatoes, saute mushroom, hash potatoes, toasts.

Very hearty breakfast platter. Since we do not take beef, the staff changed the beef bacons to grilled chicken. Instead of just seared tomatoes, they gave salad too. Everything was nicely done, in terms of taste and presentation.

Verdict : If coffee art is your main concern, sorry to disappoint you here. Food variation quite limited. But I like the food I ordered and also the bread. However for coffee, I find it abit tad too foamy for my liking.

Coffee Break @Florence Coffee,d’Tempat Country Club

**NO LONGER AVAILABLE**

Hi…
Have you heard of Bandar Sri Sendayan? Bandar Sri Sendayan is blooming into the next future of Seremban township. Its another part of Seremban. Just like we have Seremban 2, Seremban 3, & etc.

d’Tempat Country Club, is located at Bandar Sri Sendayan. One of the facility here, complete with sport facilities, food & beverage outlets and many more.

Since I lived in Seremban 2, therefore traveling here is only within 10 minutes drive.

I like to hunt for new cafes. Furthermore, I heard about this cafe few months back. Been wanting to pay a visit. I made my traveling more worthwhile by visiting during Chinese New Year, when they hold events over the weekends.

Florence Coffee is a Coffee Shop cum Florist. I was told that the owner is a florist, & also own a florist shop in Seremban.

Therefore you can see that this cafe is decorated with floral themed artworks. There are some artificial flowers available for sale too.

This cosy cafe will make a nice place for Instagramers ^_^ ^_^

Chalkboard menu is displayed on the wall. You gotto place your order at the counter.

Cappuccino – RM10

Latte – RM10

Mom, who is a coffee lover said their coffee taste good.

I also made a side order. I ordered a Classic Waffle – RM15. Forgetting the ordinary square & triangle waffle shapes that we used to see or eat. Here they served, I would call this a flower shape waffle which I think it matches well on the cafe’s theme. Other than classic waffle, there are also Legato, Steven’s favorite, Dirty Monkey, are the waffle names shown on the menu. I asked the barista what is the difference? He said, the difference would be the toppings.

I chose classic, so that I could taste its originality. LOL LOL!

Topped with blueberries, maple syrup & a scoop of vanilla ice cream with lime zest. I also like the waffle here. Not only it looks nice, it tasted good too. Golden brown, crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. It also smells good when it was served hot.

**al-fresco dining area is breathtaking……

…….onlooking the club’s children swimming pool.

Could you also recommend me a good waffle in Seremban?

Tea Break @Just Koffea, Seremban 2

Waahhh…finally its open for business. Feeling anticipated for this cafe to open at my neighborhood. It has been on renovation for the past few months. As soon as I knew about the opening, I whatsapp to my ‘yam cha’ kaki, Wei Chi about this place. ‘Ehh….got new place to hangout’. Ok la…we go next week.

As I enter, the ‘Tatami’ section has caught my attention. Therefore we decided to sit here.

They did a raised platform for the Tatami section. Only 3 tables with 3 seats each at this section. The seat was quite comfortable also wor…

Well, there are also sofa and wooden stool seats.

Quite a nice place to hangout.

Barista at work.

Cakes on display. The choices of cakes were quite limited. May be still new?

As we seated, we were given a one sheet menu. Simple and straight forward. Well, menu not necessarily to be complicated right? Then, a friendly staff came over to take our order.

Wei Chi ordered a glass of Iced Latte (RM10.80)

I ordered a cuppa Flat White (Hot) – RM9.80. When the staff handed the cuppa drink to me, she apologized for a not so nice coffee art. My friend and I then responded, it looks alright. No worries.

We wanted to try some light food. So we ordered Egg Benedict On Toast – RM18.80, for sharing.

Chicken Ham, Cheddar Cheese topped with poached egg with hollandaise sauce and served with fresh salad.

It was quite delicious, we felt. Most importantly is the runny yolk.

A slice of Black Forest Cake – RM14.80 to sum up our meal. The sponge was moist and the chocolate mousse was quite rich.  🙂

Overall, the food and drinks quality were not bad. Services was alright too.

The Al-Fresco dining area looks nice too. But will be abit warm during hot weather although there’s a ceiling fan.
