Japanese Buffet @Haruta, d’Tempat Country Club Seremban

I came across this promo through the Facebook page of d’Tempat Country Club.

I am a fan of Japanese food. Upon seeing such good deal, I am overwhelmed. Thus, without much hesitation, I called up to make a reservation in order to avoid disappointment. (in case of full house)

As we seated, we were given this copy of ‘made-to-order’, selection of main course which is not available at the buffet table. Each visitor is entitled for one main course, choose only 1 from the choice of 5 dishes. There were 4 of us. Therefore we were able to choose 4 types.

Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce (Shake Teriyaki)

Pan-fried salmon then glazed with a sweetened soy sauce (teriyaki).

Grilled Mackerel with Salt (Saba Shio)

This piece of grilled mackarel with salt tasted good. It was not dry nor overcooked, and the saltiness was just nice.

Fried Battered Seafood (Tempura Mori)

The tempura batter was crispy and light. Only consists of 2 prawns, a piece of mushroom and an eggplant.

Teppanyaki Style Chicken (Tori Teppanyaki)

Chicken in teppanyaki style. I felt that the chicken cutlets were too big. I preferred it to be in smaller cube, so that its easier for the meat to absorb the flavors.

For starter, there were salad with choice of dressing.

Edamame beans

Also available was Chuka Kurage (Seasoned Jellyfish) & Chuka Wakame (Seasoned Sesame Seaweed) as appetizer.

Miso Soup

Takoyaki

Round shaped, a Japanese snack made of wheat flour-based batter with a piece of octopus inside. However the filling was too little.

Move on to the sushi counter, a glimpse of the busy chef preparing sushi.

Colorful Maki-sushi (Roll Sushi)

Choice of Nigiri Sushi

My favorite Salmon Sushi.

*both Nigiri & Maki can be re-ordered.

Other than sushi, they also served fried rice. But the rice was kinda mushy I felt.

Chicken & Vegetables in Japanese Stock

As for dessert, they served slices of cakes,

cut fruits,

puddings,

japanese mochi with different fillings (red bean, peanut, black sesame, pandan). I love having Japanese mochi because I like the gooey texture.

and ice cream.

Black Sesame & Green Tea ice cream would be my favorite combination. A must have in Japanese food.

*Do take note that the desserts may varies all the time.

If you think the dishes are insufficient, here’s a list of additional add ons dishes for extra RM4 (nett) per item.

The buffet is only available on Saturday (dinner) and Sunday (lunch).

Saturday (6.30pm – 10.00pm)
Sunday (12.00pm – 3.00pm)

Although it stated “All You Can Eat Sushi”, but they served more than just sushi. Overall, I felt that paying RM38 nett for the above dishes in a Japanese restaurant is worth eating.

*solely based on writer's own opinion*

Haruta @d’Tempat Country Club, Seremban

Haruta is one of the F&B outlet located at d’Tempat Country Club, Seremban. Haruta been labeled as Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant. Hence its still very new in town. Started since beginning of year 2015.

In conjunction to Malaysia’s Merdeka day, Haruta had a promotion of buffet lunch at price of RM58++ per person. It was held on 3 consecutive days 29th, 30th & 31st August 2015, during lunch hour from 12-2pm.

I decided to give it a try afterall its just a short driving distance from my home. Together with my family we head to Haruta to give it a try. Moreover it was Haruta’s first time to held a buffet.

At the entrance of Haruta

As you walk into the restaurant, you will be able to see these deco.

The restaurant look modern & classy. It does gives you the ‘Atas‘ feel.

We were quite punctual therefore you could see the restaurant look so vacant. But in real fact, it was fully booked.

The sashimi is a ‘MUST TRY’ item. It was very fresh. Look at the nice & thick cut of each slices.

(above are salmon & tuna)

Not sure if you fancy these…but its something everyone mustn’t miss. How can you not try sashimi when you are at a Japanese restaurant? 😀 😀

Stir Fry Vegetables, Fresh Salads, Stir fry Udon, Fried Rice are served here too.

Both black pepper udon & potato salad were quite nice.

Assorted Tempura

Grilled Scallops & Cold Tofu.

a close up of the grilled scallop. Not much was served and it was quite ‘laku’.

Choices of Nigiri / Sushi served.

The varieties of nigiri/sushi served was quite limited. Anyway….they did well on their nigiri/sushi.

A small section on sweet stuffs. They were Japanese Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Pudding. Sorry….don’t quite fancy the pumpkin pudding. Tasted rather bland.

Nevertheless, the green tea ice cream was a great hit. Was quite limited too. Creamy & nice green tea taste.

Chawanmushi wasn’t quite nice either.

The mussels & tamago was not bad.

Jet Jet was busy self feeding too.

Before I conclude…I would like to say that d’Tempat Country Club is a nice clubhouse located at Sendayan, Seremban. It is next to the Matrix International School. Equipped with facilities like, swimming pool, tennis court, ping pong court, games room. Only club members are allowed to use these facilities.

Back to the restaurant…..

My verdict: The restaurant has a nice environment. Modern & classy. The food quality was not too bad… food were fresh especially the seafood. However the food variation/choices were quite limited. I was expecting some fresh oysters, unagi, soba & mochi. Furthermore it took time for them to replenish the food. Understand that this was their first time doing buffet…therefore there are room for improvement.

Lunch @Ichiro Sushi Bar,Isetan Eat Paradise, 1 Utama

Never expect my ‘aunty’ instinct gotten me into a free meal treat by Kc Wong! *laughs*

Ichiro Sushi Bar is located inside Isetan Eat Paradaise @ 1 Utama shopping center. May not be new to many diners. But definitely a new place for me. Kc also highly recommended this place for delicious & fresh Japanese food especially sushi/nigiri prepared by Japanese chefs. (Kc is a regular customer here…kekeke)

The daily specials are written on white papers. Checking out the freshest fish available for the day.

You select and manage your orders via iPad.

*Chef at work…the chefs here are quite friendly too*

The menu is well-organized and user friendly. For more pocket friendly, Ichiro also serves lunch set meals which are available daily including weekends and its value for money!

We sat at the sushi bar. Where you could see how the chef prepare the sushi/ sashimi. We also met a Japanese guy who sat next to us…who is also a regular customer here. He claimed that Ichiro serves fresh and authentic Japanese food & flavors. Ichiro is one of his best choice.

Perhaps…..the photos below are the evidences.

Since Kc is more familiar… so, I’ll let him do the ordering. hehe…

We started with (from bottom to top) Kohada, Gomasaba (wild mackerel), Aji (horse mackerel). The sushi rice is well pressed and not too mushy with well balanced of vinegar.

Ichiro serves freshly grated wasabi. *becareful with the burning sensation* 😀

Sardine – RM9.80

Tuna (crown of the head)RM40

Searobin – RM24.80

(from left to right) Flying Fish – RM20.80, Special Aji (special horse mackerel)RM20.80

Arkshell – RM40; made into nigiri & maki.

Salmon Salad Roll – RM17.80

Foodie will never miss the chance in ‘foodporn’ 😀

What matters most is getting the right angle.

We ended our lunch with sweet stuffs. Desserts for sure! The double scoop ice cream comes with an affordable price tag of RM7 (Yuzu Sorbet); RM6 (Sesame). Its rich in flavors.

Persimmon Sorbet – RM5

10940461_10152796989233171_3946733686413968376_nPersimmon + Sorbet lover will surely love this. Check out the size. Gave me an idea to buy persimmon & freeze it. hehe….

Verdict : Ichiro caters for small group diners due to the limited seats. All the above has its uniqueness and texture. You get good selections of sushi here. Overall satisfaction; fresh & delicious sushi/nigiri!!

Nichinan Jidoriya is a non-halal Japanese restaurant. Offering an extensive menu and its reasonably priced!

I like this wooden partition filled with all kinds of Japanese cups. Very creative!

From left:-

Hotate Buta Maki (RM6)

Kappa Maki (RM6)

Soft Shell Crab Nama Harumaki (RM18)

Soft Shell Crab Nama Harumaki was very nice. Light, crunchy and fresh.

Besides a plate of sashimi, this set comes with rice, miso soup, salad, watermelon and a chanwanmushi. The chawanmushi was so smooth and slippery.

Dinner @ Inaho Sushi, Skypark OneCity USJ, Subang Jaya

It was on Christmas day and also Alex’s birthday. I decided to treat him dinner.

There’s this newly opened mall in our neighborhood. So, we pay a visit to One City Mall located at USJ25, Subang Jaya. Nothing much to shop right now… but I noticed there are numbers of restaurants here. More choice on food.

We were then aware of their ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ located at 10th floor. Go up via the glass lift! ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ also claimed as Biggest Rooftop F&B Area by the Malaysia Book of Records.

We were quite impressed about the Sky Dining here. I meant the atmosphere and view. There is a Sports Bar, a Japanese Restaurant, a K-pop inspired Korean Restaurant(opening soon), a Thai Restaurant, a Restaurant cum Bar designed in nautical theme and a Live Bar (opening soon).

Therefore we end up settling our dinner at Inaho because Hb decided to go for Japanese food.

1506744_10151974842217740_1723310561_nBefore our dinner, we even went for a movie at Premium-X Cinemas @ One City. More info about this cinema HERE. Other than the usual TGV, GSC, this cinema is quite classy I felt. Although the movie hall was rather small, but the seats (in leather) were quite comfortable and the sound system wasn’t too bad either. Ohh ya…ticket price was RM13 for new movies.

View of the Sky Park.

It was their first opening day during Christmas day. This is their 2nd outlet. Understand that their first outlet is located at The Curve Damansara.

We purposely choose a seat here (outdoor) rather than indoor just to enjoy the evening breeze and the view. Something different ma…. hehe…

My view. Onlooking USJ ^_^

Just like other chain Japanese restaurants offering set meals, ala-carte dishes and desserts. Inaho is also ‘pork-free’.

1503374_10151972462232740_817222302_nWhile waiting for food to arrive. Cam-whore is the Asians habit rite?? LOL!

Started our meal with Ebiten Roll (Prawn Tempura Roll)RM18

Hb’s favorite, Shishamo. I want to LOL at this plate of shishamo. So skinny and ‘kecut’. Life must be tough… 😀 😀

Another appetizer, Yakitori Moriawase (Grilled Meat on Skewers)RM16 Comes with minced chicken ball, chicken’s skin, chicken meat and chicken liver. Unfortunately the yakitori was lack of flavors. Meat wasn’t tasty and I felt they should grill a lil longer.

Tori Nabe (Chicken Hot Pot)RM22 was good for sharing. Portion was quite big I felt. This was not bad. As you can see, there are alot of ingredients in the pot. The soup was tasty too.

One of the Inaho Set that we ordered was Salmon Sashimi SetRM22. Comes together with salad, salmon sashimi, rice and miso soup.

Thick slices of salmon sashimi were served.

Their opening promo. Since we ordered one of the Inaho Set, we were given a free scoop of green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was quite smooth.

To end my meal, I also ordered a dessert. Ichigo Parfait (Strawberry Parfait)RM16. made by layering whipping cream, cornflakes, strawberries in a clear glass, and topping with ice cream.

My verdict: Good in term of pricing and food portion. Prices were okay with that serving size. However the food was just average.

Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch @ Sukishi, IOI Mall Puchong

So sorry to my readers. My blog has been so quiet, lacking of post. (Blame it on my work load).

Got miss me or not? LOL!

Last weekend I went for Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch.

Thanks to Kc Wong for sharing this deal:- Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch at Sukishi, IOI Mall Puchong for RM20.90

He also commented that Sukishi is under the company of SUKI-YA. The difference is that Sukishi serves pork while SUKI-YA is pork free.

I thought it would be a great deal to bring along my family for a sukiyaki & shabu-shabu lunch. Moreover it was mummy’s birthday as well 😉

Sukishi is located next to GSC Cinema of IOI Mall, Puchong. Luckily I managed to get a table for 5. However there is a limitation on dining hour. Max. 2 hours dining time.

-SUKISHI-

current promo. Till 30th November 2013

Our dining table with nice view. *paiseh* didn’t know there is a lake behind IOI Mall also. *tsk tsk tsk*

The aroma of bubbling broth and simmering meat lures shopping savants indulging in retail therapy within IOI Mall Puchong to the contemporary indoor dining space of Sukishi, offering sukiyaki and sushi buffets. Individual tables and booth seating accommodates groups, while partitioned hot pots allow taste buds to savour a combination of sukiyaki, kimchi, shabu shabu, or miso soup flavours. Trays of Australian beef, chicken, and pork eagerly await selection as contenders of greens, mushrooms, and tofu ensure a balanced diet and fulfilment of food pyramids.

A simple one page menu for you to choose your choice of soup and meat. Also, in case you’ll love to add on some ala-carte dishes. I felt that the ala-carte dishes are reasonably priced.

Not sure how to enjoy sukiyaki? Fret not…its as simple as ABC by reading through this attractive info sheet placed on the dining table.

*Japanese steam rice is available upon request*

Choice of soup. We tried all 4 types. HAHA! Since we had 2 pots ma…. I personally liked Kimuchi (kimchi) and Sukiyaki as soup base. Because its tasty and goes well with the ingredients (eg: meat).

The dipping sauce.

Well…for the meat, we chose pork and chicken. From the photo, you can see that the meat are thinly sliced. The meat were fresh too!

Their sushi from the counter (inclusive in the bill) were very laku. I couldn’t get the chance to take a photo when the tray is fully filled.  😦

Selections of vege, mushrooms, beef balls, clams, udon.

*must try their udon*

Dressing sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger.

While waiting for the soup to boil….. lets have some sushi 🙂

We also get a complimentary plate of tori karage (RM8.90 value), for Groupon users I suppose.

Bottomless Soft Drinks.

Condiments for the soft ice cream. Crushed peanuts, chocolate rice, natta de coco, cornflakes.

You can choose the ice cream to be serve on cup or cone. Aduishhh…. my face is so much bigger than the ice cream cone neh!! @_@ Anyway…they only serve green tea and chocolate flavor ice cream. But I preferred the green tea flavor. Smooth and the green tea taste wasn’t too strong.

Verdict : It was a pleasant experience. The environment here was not bad. I personally like the pork slices. Although we dine with groupon vouchers…. the service was good too.

Dinner @Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant, Langkawi

Talking about Japanese food, there aren’t much choices compared to Chinese and Thai food which are easily sighted in Langkawi island. I’ve read many positive reviews about Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant from guests who’ve visited the restaurant. And we were aware about the steep price as mentioned by others.

What made us decided to come here for dinner on our 2nd day at Langkawi?

Its a famous restaurant in Langkawi. Based on the compliments and the best thing was that our staying place, Ambong Ambong is just a walking distance to Unkaizen. Although we stayed so near, I also made a reservation before hand. In order to secure a table with nice view.

20121213_191444

This is what I meant by nice view. Seated at upper floor facing Pantai Tengah.

IMG_6053

Wooden cover menu. Straight forward menu with not many photos attached. But the friendly and attentive staff will be there to assist you and also will inform you what’s today’s special on board. Varies daily.

IMG_6055An overall outlook of the upper floor. Occupying only 8 tables and with tatami seating. You are required to remove your shoe.

IMG_6057

When I’m dining in a Japanese restaurant, I preferred to have their Green Tea (Ocha) – RM4 for 2 person.

IMG_6062

Us at Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant.

IMG_6069

We ordered 2 different sets. The above one is Sashimi (Full) Set – RM70. Comes with 3 different types of sashimi. For the (Full) set, it comes together with white rice, miso soup, pickles, chawanmushi and cut fruits. I must admit that the thick slices of sashimi were so fresh and the texture is very smooth. Each and every slice were nicely cut.

IMG_6065

Then the 2nd set we ordered was Sushi Set – RM58. Comes with assorted sushi and hot noodle. Choice of Soba or Udon. The nicely pressed sushi rice were topped with thick slices of raw fish. This was equally good as well.

IMG_6068We chose soba instead of udon. However I preferred the Hot Soba from Rakuzen, KL. 😉

IMG_6073

Teppanyaki Ice Cream – RM10. Choose your favorite fruits from the menu for this teppanyaki ice cream. They uses homemade ice cream. You can also add more than 1 type of fruits. But there will be additional charges. Milky and smooth teppanyaki ice cream with bits of strawberry. Because I chose strawberry. Too bad the ice cream melted quite fast.

IMG_6074This is where they prepare the teppanyaki ice cream. You can watch how they are prepared. How come they didn’t call me to watch wan? *sobs…..

IMG_6076

Aquariums filled with fresh and live seafood. These seafood can be prepared in few ways. Eat as Sashimi (raw), Shioyaki (grilled with salt), Teriyaki (grilled with sweet sauce), Teppanyaki (grilled on hot plate) , Deep fried.

IMG_6078

The night view of Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant.

For Ambong Ambong guests, you’ll be entitled to 10% discount off total bill. We weren’t aware of this offer until we settle our bill at the cashier. Nice place to savour some good Japanese food. However I felt that the dining room at upper floor has poor ventilation. Why I said that? The guest who sat next to our table had this charcoal grill meat. In result, the whole room was so smokey even after the windows were open. Its like the smoke is trapped in the room. *Unpleasant*

Below Expectation @Yamagoya Ramen, Setiawalk Puchong

When Yamagoya Ramen newly arrived in Klang Valley, I heard so much of their publicity through radio advertising. Since we were at Setiawalk Puchong, so Alex and I decided to give it a try. Understand that ever since Setiawalk implemented a parking fee, there are lots of complains about the jam towards the parking entrance. I hope they could do something on this.

20130217_183428You will be greeted by the friendly staffs as you enter their restaurant.

20130217_183023The 1 full page of ramen. Like not many choices hor….

20130217_183351My order; Yamagoya Ramen – RM19.

20130217_183545Not quite good. I was expecting it to taste as good as Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Thin ramen while the broth….don’t you think its quite oily? You may find the broth is very rich and tasty on 1st few sip…later on feel ‘jelak’. However the slices Pork Char Siu are quite nice.

20130217_183407

Alex chose Spicy Tobanjan Ramen – RM22.

I felt that Alex’s ramen taste the same like mine. The only difference is that..he has additional chili paste.

20130217_183954After adding the chili paste into the ramen. *looks so oily* @_@

I did not bother to add on. Because I felt that Soy Sauce Egg for RM4 is quite pricey.

Wasn’t sure if we made the right order. But the ramen failed to impress me.

*Strictly based on my individual taste*

Dinner @ Sukiya, USJ Taipan

Yesterday, I saw VKeong of Malaysia Food & Travel posted a photo with a caption “Sukiya has landed in Malaysia.. this fast food concept restaurant serves pretty good Gyudon”. It grabbed my attention when I read the location is at USJ, Taipan. Coincidentally, Alex and I planned to have dinner at USJ but have not decided what to eat. I guess the photo appears at the right time. Therefore we were there for our dinner last night.

Sukiya is Japan’s Number 1 Restaurant Chain Stores. And now its available in Malaysia! Furthermore Sukiya is a Fast Food concept restaurant. I can’t deny that I am a newbie in Japanese fast food! Hehe…..

Sukiya, the 1st branch opened in USJ. Located next to True Fitness is easily sighted because of the bright lighting and facing the main road.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/PicsArt_1354239905690.jpg

I would say its a very spacious and cosy fast food restaurant.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_204925.jpg

Japanese plastic food samples were displayed here as you enter the premises.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205256.jpg

The 1 page menu is simple and easy to read.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205311.jpg

Fast food means everything is self service lar, right?

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205533.jpg

Want extra flavors? Add sauce lar… on desk; light soya sauce, pickled ginger, ketchup, blended green chili, mayonnaise, Kewpie’s roasted sesame Japanese dressing.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205829.jpg

Alex ordered Gyudon (Medium) – RM9.90. Gyūdon, literally beef bowl, is a Japanese dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with beef and onion simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi (fish and seaweed stock), soy sauce and mirin (sweet rice wine).

The beef slices are so thin and it tasted not bad.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_210053.jpg

While I chose Teriyaki Chicken Rice (Medium) – RM7.90

The teriyaki chicken meat portion is quite big. At least the ratio between rice is quite proportion also lar.. I added some blended green chili and I like it! Ima chili person ma…*hot and spicy*! 😀

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205912.jpg

Add RM3 for pickled vegetables and a bowl of miso soup.

https://i0.wp.com/i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt140/thammelissa/SUKIYA%20USJ%20Taipan/20121129_205958.jpg

Or add RM3 for pickled vegetables and a cup of drink. I chose Iced Lemon Tea. I also added some Kewpie’s roasted sesame Japanese dressing to my pickled vege….which I think it matches well too! 😉

Verdict : Something new to me. Not bad and worth trying. Gonna return to try maybe the curry rice? ^^

Lunch @ Waku Waku Restaurant, Midvalley

During a lunch outing with my girlfriends, 2 weeks ago..

I suggested  Waku Waku Restaurant, Midvalley. I knew about this place after reading it from Sean of Eat Drink KL and Baby Sumo of Eat your heart out.

Both of them shared nice reviews and photos about this place. Apart from that…the price seems to be quite affordable too. I meant it won’t burn a big hole on your wallet…kekeke…

The menu attached with photos is simple and easy to understand. Knew about the Char Kuey Teow and Nasi Lemak ala Jepun…but we weren’t really on to that. Preferred to order something more Jepun…

For drinks we ordered Genmai Cha (Rice Tea) for RM2.90/ glass. And its refillable.

Sukiyaki Nabe (RM18.90) arrived first. My friend commented the thinly sliced beef meat were good. While the Japanese soy sauce soup base were so tasty that we just couldn’t stop sipping till the last drop. ^^

Okonomi Yaki (RM13.90), a Japanese pancake made of flour and egg with the ingredients of shredded cabbage, onion, meat and squid. Topped with okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise. I find it not bad actually.

Irodori Kushiyaki Mori (RM18.90). Assorted skewers consist of salmon, chicken fillet and chicken wing. Perfectly grilled with glazing of teriyaki sauce.

Chicken Hamburg Steak 180g (RM17.90). Hamburg is their signature dish. If you can’t take beef…you can at least choose chicken. I want to go back for this! Tasty and nicely cooked hamburg with Japanese soy sauce which was not too watery or salty. Moreover the patty was not too tough or dry…easily to chew. Placed in a stone plate together with an egg, fried potato slices and some corns.

Food(as above) : 8/10

Price : Affordable

Ambiance : Comfortable
