Lunch with Tracy @ Restoran Asia

Tracy came by my office to meet me up for lunch. She misses the laksa so much ever since the previous lunch we had there. (Around 1 month ago). Therefore she suggested to have the same laksa for lunch. I second the idea too. *smiles*

Restoran Asia, is quite famous in Seremban. Popularity came from its laksa! There are 2 Restoran Asia in Seremban (both are related). One is located at Rahang, while the main one is located at Senawang. At times, people do debate on which is nicer. However the Senawang branch has more varieties other than laksa, they do have ‘yong tau fu’ and nasi lemak. Unlike the Rahang branch which solely on laksa.

I do not fancy laksa with too thick gravy. Means too rich in coconut milk. But this is different. The curry gravy is rich in flavor even though not just depending on coconut milk itself. The chili paste that they use is good.  If you wish to purchase the chili paste, its for sale at RM5.50 per container.

Price starts from RM3.50(S), RM4.00(M), RM4.30(L)

Price may vary depending on what additional items you add on. Example; minced pork, char siew, curry chicken, egg. Besides that, you may also choose your choice of noodle. Selection of mee hoon, lou shu fun(my fav!), egg noodle and kuey teow.

Tracy’s order. Mee Hoon with char siew and egg along with taufu pok & bean sprout

My order. Lou Shu Fun with minced pork, cockles (my fav!) along with taufu pok & bean sprout

check it out in a closer view

Look at the less-oily curry broth yet still rich in flavors!

Restoran Asia is at 364, Jalan Tok Ungku, Seremban, opposite the Rahang post office.

My Favorite Food @ Pasar Besar Seremban

Pasar Besar or wet market is the place we usually find fresh vege and meat. How often do we recall it as a place serving good local authentic food? Or shall I say food heaven?? A place I would like to recommend here is Pasar Besar Seremban. The food stalls are located on 1st floor. Hence; there are few stalls that I would like to emphasize here because they are my favorite! Unfortunately, to find a parking here; is kinda testing your patience and luck especially during peak hours. (before 10am). However you wouldn’t want to be too late to arrive there(after 12pm) because some of the food may be sold out by then.

Last Saturday, I made an effort to try them along with my mom & brother. The 3 of us were kinda like eating from 1 spot to another, sharing the serving all together so that we would be able to taste each of it.

The Exterior of Pasar Besar Seremban

1)  Tow Kee Hakka Mee

A family business which formerly runs by their father. There is another shop with same owner located at Jalan Kapitan Tam Yeong. Both shops are now operating by 2 brothers.

I ordered for Large size = RM3.70

What I like about this noodle? Love the tangy-ness of the home-made noodle topped with tasty minced pork. Simple yet very popular!!  (the green thing is pickled chili)

2) Mee Hoon Sotong (Cuttlefish Vermicelli) – (stall No. 753)

A plate of this = RM3.50 (only 1 standard size)

The mee hoon is fried (not really deep fry), flooded with a brown color gravy then topped with braised pork slice, sotong(cuttlefish) and vegetable.

3) Konlou ‘Lou Shu Fun’ – (stall No. 735)

RM2.70(small),  RM3.20(big)

I’m a big fans of ‘lou shu fun’. Therefore I mustn’t miss this. And if you are 1 of them too…I foresee you will surely like it too. Another simple noodle, yet popular and taste good.  Why do I said simple? The lou shu fun just mix with some sauce (light soya sauce, dark soya sauce, oil) & topped with yummylious minced pork!

4) Mee Rojak – (stall No. 785)

This mee rojak is similar to the mamak’s version. You may order without the ‘mee’ (yellow noodle). What’s hidden under the sauce?? Kuih udang, tofu, potatoes. I topped up an additional piece of keropok udang. The sauce is of sweet and sour taste. This plate of rojak is RM4.00.

5) Sugarcane Juice – (stall No. 749)

Sugarcane Juice with Lime = RM1.60

On a hot and sunny day; this is best to quench our thirst. Oh ya, the owner claimed this is his new creation of sugarcane. “Sugarcane Juice with Lemon”. *a sip through my drying throat* ehh…taste good leh… so refreshing and the sweetness is so natural. Moreover I saw the sugarcane was process only once. Unlike some traders who uses the same cane through the sugarcane processor for several times.

Unfortunately; I have no chance to try the beef noodles which was told very nice & famous because I can’t take beef =_=

Sin Yee Kee Seremban Beef Noodles (Stall 748)

All the stalls above have been operating for many years.

Dinner @ T C Keong Restaurant

A place where you can get hommie food with an affordable price! Its a ‘tai chow’ restaurant which strongly recommended by my boss. With a tagline of “peng, leng, cheng” (cheap, nice, superb).

Did tried their food few times, but this time I brought my family for dinner there.

Its always crowded especially during lunch & dinner hour. Well, I went on Saturday night. Arrived and managed to get a vacant table and it was about 8pm. However, we waited for about 40 minutes for our ordered dishes to be served. Looks like its either that you have to be early or you don’t mind waiting. Bear in mind, do not wait with an empty stomach. Because a hungry man can be an angry man!  *Laughs*

an ordinary non air-conditioned  restaurant

Steamed Bitter Gourd & Pork Ribs with Black Beans – RM12

Erm; nothing much to shout about this dish. However the bitter gourd is well-cooked in a sense that its not too hard & good thing its that it don’t taste bitter too.

Assam Prawns & Squids (Tamarind Prawns & Squids) – RM25

A recommended dish! Especially for assam lovers. Moreover the prawns & squids are fresh and big. I love the gravy very much. Adds extra appetite if to eat with plain white rice.

Hong Siu Fish Head (deep-fried and braised in sauce) – RM26

Another recommended dish! A deep fried fish focusing only the fish head area, crispy on the outer part, yet maintained the good texture of its flesh.

Seaweed Soup – RM7

Ordered a soup dish because baby Vernice likes to have soup. Whats in the soup? As you can see other than seaweed, there are sliced carrots, fish cakes, baby corns, sliced pork, few pieces of small prawns & spring onion.

Stir-fry Vege – RM7

All of us enjoyed the meal very much!

McD has came up with the idea of 2 Free Big Breakfast with purchase of RM5. All you need is just download & print the coupon. The promo ends on 31 March. My brother came home with the printed coupon and suggested to have McD breakfast on Saturday. We were there at 10am to make our purchase. However we waited about 20 minutes for our breakfast set to be served. That was because there were too many orders.

Lunch @ Kita No Zen, Hokkaido Ichiba; The Garden Mall

This lunch was planned as a meet up before Wanyi left for work to Singapore. I wouldn’t say its a farewell, after all she will still return and we can still meet. Midvalley and The Gardens  will normally be our meeting point as its more like a center point between us. Should be more convenient I guess. Trying to figure out what should we eat or try this time. Each time we would try different food. I wonder when only we can finish trying all the food from both Midvalley & The Gardens ^^

Initially Ashley suggested Yogi Tree. Couldn’t remember how the plan changed. Lately I really craved for Japanese food ever since I watched this drama; The Rippling Blossom showing on Astro on Demand. Therefore; I would say this restaurant has fulfilled my wish!!

Nic and Mel arrived earlier then came Ashley and Wanyi. Lucky it was still early (at 12pm), therefore we don’t need to queue long.

Facing directly in front of the center escalator

The interior

We were directed to our seat. And was given 4 booklets of menu which comprises of set lunch, ala-carte, ice cream/dessert & the last one I have forgotten. Oppss

While studying the menu, Ashley said the menu is kinda similar to Rakuzen. The answer to your question; (I got it from a blogger) —-> Kita No Zen (the restaurant) and Hokkaido Ichiba (the adjoining ice cream/ dessert lounge) were opened by the people behind Rakuzen and Sushi/Pasta Zanmai.

Hot towels & Green Tea are served to guests for free of charge.

All of us decided to go for set lunch.

Nic ordered Yakiniku Zen(Grilled Beef Set)- RM28

Based on Nic, Ashley & Wanyi‘s interpretation; the meat is tender and juicy. While the gravy is tasty too.

Ash ordered Unagi Kabayaki Zen (Roasted Eel Set) – RM30

The size of unagi will not disappoint you. Apart from that, the unagi taste good too.

Mel ordered Nabeyaki Udon to Salmon Don Zen (Claypot Udon & Salmon Rice Set) – RM32

This set is good! Especially the slices of salmon. Its very fresh.

There was a moral lesson to learn here. Please read up the whole description of food before ordering. I somehow missed the word ‘rice’. Therefore it surprises me with 1 bowl of noodle & 1 bowl of rice. How can I finish all??  So, I scooped some noodle for Wanyi.

There you go, Wanyi’s Set. (No name)

All of us very bersungguh-sungguh to clear everything.

We requested for desserts to serve after meal.

Wanyi ordered Macha Ice no Hokkaido Milk Parfait (RM8.80)

Green Tea Ice Cream served in Hokkaido Milk with Glutinous Rice Ball & Green Tea Jelly, topped with Hokkaido Red Bean.

Macha Waffle (RM9.80)

Waffle with Green Tea Ice Cream topped with Green Tea Sauce & Hokkaido Red Bean

Sesame Indulgence (RM8.80)

The above desserts; only the green tea ice cream is good. Not applicable to the waffles. Because both types of waffles are so-so only.

Just 4 of us

We were at Hokkaido!!!

Love this cheeky pose of us!! (Wanyi, Ashley, Mel, Nic)

**Definitely will re-visit. Hinting it on Hubby now ^^

Dinner @ See U Village Steamboat

A halal steamboat restaurant is opened at Tesco Seremban 2.

Its no usual 1 big pot of soup on each table, instead each table comes with individual built in induction cooker. I prefer this method. Its more convenient and hygienic rather than mixing everything into 1 pot to be shared among everyone at your table. Who knows may be there are some people who can’t take seafood. At least now we can have our individual pot which allows us to cook the items that we ourselves like.

Unfortunately; it ain’t serving in buffet style. Its either you order in a set of 1, 2 or 4 pax or ala carte. Since its just myself, mom & bro; therefore we ordered a set for 2 (Dumpling Combo) and added some side orders.

Types of soup and the prices. There are 5 types of soup. Only ‘chicken soup’ & ‘tom yam soup’ are free of charge. 3 of us each ordered different type of soup. Chicken soup (kinda salty), tom yam soup (the best) & herbal soup (kinda bland).

Dipping Sauce

From bottom; blended red chili, fried shallot in oil, blended green chili.

Set for 2 (Dumpling Combo) – RM33.80

I was shocked when the waiter brought this plate over our table. Does this look like a set for 2 person?? Looked more like for 1 person. Or was it just me, the big eater? Adui…paiseh la if yes. ^^

A set of 2 includes 2 piece of noodles. There are 3 types of noodles for you to choose. We chose ‘yee mee’.

We ordered an extra plates of ‘chicken roll’, ‘chicken ball’ & ‘fried fish meat’. The dumpling is included in our set.

I dump everything into my pot of tom yam soup.

CNY Family Dinner @ Han Pi Yuan, Royale Bintang Resort & Spa

As I return home on 2nd day of Chinese New Year, there were friends gathering, house visiting and not forgetting a family dinner which is the most important part.

To avoid the festive crowds in restaurants, we decided to dine at The Royale Bintang Resort & Spa. Mom gave the suggestion on Han Pi Yuan, a Chinese Restaurant after she read some good reviews from the newspaper. Apparently, Han Pi Yuan serves Halal Chinese food.

To my surprise; there were only 2 tables of guests having their meals there. Where are all the people in Seremban?? Is it because the service is bad? Too expensive? Or food is bad? Let me try it….

well lighted and looking pleasant

Well; we went for ‘Chinese New Year Menu’ package. Which consists of 9 dishes (including dessert) served for 10 pax. Moreover the price seems to be affordable too. Just RM438++ (imposed of 10% service charge & 6% government tax).

Prosperity Jellyfish & Pear Yee Sang

This dish will normally serves at the beginning of the meal. Yee Sang or Lo Hei or better known as Prosperity Toss symbolized abundance, prosperity and vigor.

“All diners at the table then stand up and on cue, proceed to toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying various “auspicious wishes” out loud, or simply “撈起, 撈起”. It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the diner’s growth in fortunes, thus diners are expected to toss enthusiastically.” (extract from wikipedia)

Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with Crabmeat

The usual shark’s fin soup. Good that this isn’t too starchy.

Roasted Chicken Shatin with Prawn Cracker

This dish is quite unique. The chick were deep fried. A credit to it because it ain’t too oily. No doubt its small, but its tasty.

Wok Fried Prawn with Spicy Sauce

The prawns size are quite big. Moreover the prawns are very fresh.

Steamed Sea Bass Fish with Quality Soya Sauce

Braised Two Varieties of Mushroom with Dried Oyster & Vegetable

Am so sorry. I was too busy eating till I forgotten to take a photo of the “Fragrant Fried Rice in Lotus Leaf”. It must be too nice till I’ve forgotten ^^

Lunch @ Xian Ding Wei

On 2nd day in Kuching, we decided to meet up Alex’s colleague, Chai whom branched in Kuching before travel back to Sarikei. Since we were at The Spring shopping mall (biggest shopping mall in Kuching), therefore Chai suggested to lunch at Xian Ding Wei, a Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant.

Seafood Fried Bee Hoon (RM10.90) – A big serving of fried bee hoon with generous amount of ingredients. And its tasty too.

Minced Pork Sauce Noodle (7.90) – Stir the noodles & minced pork sauce before consume. The taste is good. It looks abit like konlou noodles too.

Bamboo Pumpkin in Bun (RM8.90) – The skin is made of glutinous rice flour mixed with pumpkin. Stuffed with minced pork. This is quite special to me.

Strawberry Pearl Milk Tea (RM4.90)

Honeydew Pearl Milk Tea (RM4.90)

Mixed Fruit Tea (RM5.90)

FOOD : Food wise is good. Unfortunately the drinks are so so only. Especially the milk tea. Rather too sweet I felt.

On last Saturday dated 22 January was exactly 1 year since we were in Taiwan. It was on 20 January 2010, since our trip to Taiwan together. If  I’m not mistaken, on 22 January 2010, we were at LeoFoo Village right Ashley, Wanyi??

We were there at 6+pm. As usual, its always crowded especially on weekends.

We were given a number for a table of 6. Waited for about 10 minutes till our number was called.

Lunch@ Little Penang Kafe

Wanting to have some Penang food even though you are not in Penang?

Little Penang Cafe would be a good choice. It has outlets over major shopping complexes in KL.

The business is quite good. Often sees a lot of patrons dining there.

For sure you can’t compare the price with hawker stalls. Here, you gotto pay a lil bit extra, but you can dine in a cosy environment.
