Dinner & Sunset @Yellow Cafe Langkawi

I did some homework few days before traveling to Langkawi. Just in case I do not want to end up paying hefty price for some lousy food.

I found out about this place which located along Pantai Cenang having quite a numbers of positive feedback in terms of environment and food. Therefore this place has to be in my itenary. Yellow Cafe is like a hidden gem. Without a signboard of its name, I doubt I could locate it. It is situated beside Langkapuri Inn passing through the rooms of Langkapuri Inn to locate this cafe.

The owner of this cafe decided to name his cafe as Yellow Cafe based on a nickname ‘Yello’ he gotten from Thailand. Simple and easy to remember isn’t it?

Using yellow as its theme color, we are expecting to see yellow here and there. 😀 😀

“Yellow Cafe is divided into three dining concepts: the Steak House Restaurant is comprised of an indoor section with dark wooden furnishings; the Cocktail Bar offers large comfortable sofas, while the Beach Front Lounge is perfect for lounging with a number of triangle Thai pillows, plush beanbags, and hammocks.”

My friend and I decided to sit here and this was our view. I could feel the fine sand below my feet. 🙂

You can also watch the ongoing beach activities. E.g: para sailing, banana boat.

Our surrounding.

A cold beer with nice view feels so good.

At Yellow Cafe, they served mostly western food. Considering this area as tourist spot, the food prices are considered affordable. Their non pictorial menu was rather simple and straight forward.

We ordered a 12″(30cm) size pizza. I chose Tacchino (Turkey Ham, Mozarella, Olives, mushroom, tomato sauce) RM31

The pizza had a very thin crust. Buttery & crisp. The toppings were sufficient to cover every slices of pizza we had.

There were only 2 types of spaghetti served here. The bolognaise would be rather common. Therefore I chose the latter. I ordered for Spaghetti Serena (Chicken & Mushroom)RM24

The al-dente spaghetti was tasty, creamy but not cloyed. The amount of mushrooms and chicken were quite generous too.

Both dishes were on sharing basis. I enjoyed the food here. The food prices here ranges from RM20 – RM60.

The atmosphere here at night.

During peak periods, the cafe also hosts live bands performing a variety of music genres such as reggae and salsa.

Well, be prepare for the sunset view. The sunset here was around 7.30pm. Quite late huh..

The sunset at ‘Andaman Sea’

Beautiful, isn’t it?

*nice stuffs are worth waiting, but they won’t stay long either*

Lunch @ Nutmeg, Bangsar Village II

We were blogsphere friends. These blogsphere friends keep in touch with each other through Facebook and Instagram. Recently, we fixed a date to meet each other for lunch!

I arrived at KL Sentral via KTM and these gals; Jennifer of “Chasing Food Dreams”  and Choi Yen of “Mimi’s Dining Room” came pick me up. Since KL Sentral is quite near to Bangsar…Therefore we decided to go Bangsar Village for lunch.

We arrived Bangsar Village II at around 1pm. Jennifer suggested to go to Nutmeg. At Nutmeg, they served American, Breakfast, Brunch and Sandwiches. Upon our arrival…the place was already so crowded. Luckily there was a vacant table for us without the need to wait.

Above are some snapshots of the interior at where we seated. Nutmeg is located opposite to Zara. There’s one thing that I dislike here is that…I felt the tables arrangement are quite close to each other.

The non pictorial menu. But the kind waiter don’t mind to do the explanation & suggestion.

I ordered a Latte for RM9.

My food arrived first. I ordered “Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwich” – RM24. Served with fresh salad, fried potato wedges.

The tasty and moist shredded chicken and coleslaw is sandwiched in a soft and buttery flavored bun.

I enjoyed my choice of order.

This is the scenario when you dine with food bloggers. 😀 😀

Jenn’s food came next…She ordered Southern Fried Breakfast – RM26. Served with 2 eggs (any style), southern fried chicken, biscuit, gravy & hashed potatoes.

It was quite disappointing that we felt the fried chicken and biscuit alike muffin were dry.

Choi Yen’s food came last. She ordered Baked Eggs – RM18. (2 eggs, cheese, tomato compote, brioche)

We also felt the baked eggs was dry. Probably overcooked.

Before we dug into our food…..

There were wide varieties of cakes here. Choi Yen and I couldn’t decide which to go for. Hence we chose the above slice of cake which served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, priced at RM16. It was a slice of creamy & nutty hazelnut cake. Coated with caramel and sugar glacing.

It was my pleasure meeting these ladies. And thanks for the ride. 😉

We shall meet again…..

Kindly hover over to their Facebook album to view photos of the food served here.

Brunch @Chars Cafe, Uptown Avenue Seremban 2

Weekends can never go wrong with cafe hopping!

On one fine weekend, I decided to visit this so-called new cafe in my neighborhood together with my family.

One may overlook this cafe because of its simple exterior.

But the interior is not bad. Cosy and comfortable seating place.

The light bulbs lighting are pretty nice and creative.

The interior design of this cafe is quite nice too.

With all the wordings on the wall….will it gives you more inspirations in writing? hehe….

Jet was getting excited with the helium balloon (the black one). It says there “Will You Marry Me”. Someone must have done a marriage proposal here. Aww..Such a sweet guy.

Chars Cafe practices ‘self service’. The huge menu board is placed visibly on the wall. Just place your order at their counter.

**only cash term**

Chars Cafe offers breakfast set at price of RM16.90 and RM17.90 which inclusive of a cuppa coffee. Choose from; ‘Americano, Cappuccino or Latte.

We had Cappuccino & Latte. Their coffee is quite rich and aromatic. Not forgetting also a neat coffee art.

Their simple breakfast set.

I opt for the latter; ‘Chars Breakfast Set’ which comprised of croissant, button mushrooms, baked beans, scrambled eggs & a cheesy sausage. I like their fresh & crispy croissant.

Besides this, we also ordered their Aglio Olio Spaghetti with Wild Mushroom at priced of RM9.80 which I felt it tasted so so only.

The brown sugar in a mini glass + crooked spoon caught my attention. Can’t help but to capture the image of it. 😀

Chocolate Waffle (RM12.90) was made fresh. Comes with double scoop of chocolate ice cream and sprinkled with chocolate sauce & coco krunch!

Will pay another visit to try their cakes. Looks good….

Lunch @Ichiro Sushi Bar,Isetan Eat Paradise, 1 Utama

Never expect my ‘aunty’ instinct gotten me into a free meal treat by Kc Wong! *laughs*

Ichiro Sushi Bar is located inside Isetan Eat Paradaise @ 1 Utama shopping center. May not be new to many diners. But definitely a new place for me. Kc also highly recommended this place for delicious & fresh Japanese food especially sushi/nigiri prepared by Japanese chefs. (Kc is a regular customer here…kekeke)

The daily specials are written on white papers. Checking out the freshest fish available for the day.

You select and manage your orders via iPad.

*Chef at work…the chefs here are quite friendly too*

The menu is well-organized and user friendly. For more pocket friendly, Ichiro also serves lunch set meals which are available daily including weekends and its value for money!

We sat at the sushi bar. Where you could see how the chef prepare the sushi/ sashimi. We also met a Japanese guy who sat next to us…who is also a regular customer here. He claimed that Ichiro serves fresh and authentic Japanese food & flavors. Ichiro is one of his best choice.

Perhaps…..the photos below are the evidences.

Since Kc is more familiar… so, I’ll let him do the ordering. hehe…

We started with (from bottom to top) Kohada, Gomasaba (wild mackerel), Aji (horse mackerel). The sushi rice is well pressed and not too mushy with well balanced of vinegar.

Ichiro serves freshly grated wasabi. *becareful with the burning sensation* 😀

Sardine – RM9.80

Tuna (crown of the head)RM40

Searobin – RM24.80

(from left to right) Flying Fish – RM20.80, Special Aji (special horse mackerel)RM20.80

Arkshell – RM40; made into nigiri & maki.

Salmon Salad Roll – RM17.80

Foodie will never miss the chance in ‘foodporn’ 😀

What matters most is getting the right angle.

We ended our lunch with sweet stuffs. Desserts for sure! The double scoop ice cream comes with an affordable price tag of RM7 (Yuzu Sorbet); RM6 (Sesame). Its rich in flavors.

Persimmon Sorbet – RM5

10940461_10152796989233171_3946733686413968376_nPersimmon + Sorbet lover will surely love this. Check out the size. Gave me an idea to buy persimmon & freeze it. hehe….

Verdict : Ichiro caters for small group diners due to the limited seats. All the above has its uniqueness and texture. You get good selections of sushi here. Overall satisfaction; fresh & delicious sushi/nigiri!!

Bros.Cafe, a Korean Dessert Cafe @Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2

I noticed the blooming numbers of Korean cafe in Klang Valley.

Not going to be a loser…Seremban here also has a nice & cosy Korean cafe. Hehehe…. Anyeong Anyeong 😉

Fret not…its featured on this web leh… *wasehhh*

http://hype.my/noms/9-kickass-korean-cafes-we-love/

Bros cafe occupying both ground and first floor of the building, strategically located at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. Merely 10 minutes drive after the Seremban toll exit.

I visited this cafe on 2 different occasions.

First visit was with my schoolmate@buddy, Wei Chi for a tea break.

Self service and only *cash term.

Orders are separated for ground and first floor. Cakes and drinks, you’ll have to place your order at ground floor. While for desserts/ bingsoo you gotto order it upstairs. Which I felt its quite troublesome. Imagine carrying the tray of bingsoo walking down the stairs. Luckily I didn’t roll down the steps. LMAO!

The upstairs counter to order bingsoo.

The all round windows made the cafe look bright and spacious.

some deco on the counter.

A guitar for display and some Korean products for sale.

Latte – RM9

The kind waitress gave up some colorful glutinous rice to go along with the drink.

Cappuccino – RM9

*I like the heart shape ♥ drawn on my drink*

“I was taken by the power that savoring a simple cup of coffee can have to connect people and create community.

~Howard Schultz
Bingsoo is a signature dessert in a Korean cafe. So we decided to order one and to share the serving.
~Types of Bingsoo served here~
I couldn’t decide which flavor to choose…the waiter recommended this Strawberry (RM20).
Snow ice mountain dish topped with cornflakes, red bean, and Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream with glaze of strawberry syrup.
On a different occasion, I visited Bros cafe for the 2nd time during my sister’s birthday.
Dislike coffee? Perhaps you can go for Yuja Tea(RM9). A traditional Korean tea (herbal tea) made from the citrus fruit yuzu. Yuja (유자) fruit is thinly sliced with its peel and combined with honey or sugar, prepared as fruit preserves or marmalade.
Iced Latte – RM9
Nok Cha Milky – RM12 *recommended*
Nok-cha (green tea) is organic one all the way from Jeju Island, Korea. Its milky, creamy hence rich green tea taste for green tea lovers.
Cakes for the birthday gal… Choc Ganache Cake (RM13).
Banana Cloud Cakes – RM13
Not overwhelmed with the cakes. Somehow felt its a lil pricey.
Cacao Island Bingsoo – RM20 *recommended*
Snow ice mountain dish topped with cocoa puffs, cocoa Powder, Sweet Chocolate,
Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream with glaze of milky chocolate syrup. Ideal for chocolate lovers….. like me! 🙂
Before you leave…you can bring home some coffee grounds use for eliminating foul smell/ household odors. Its FOC anyway.

Soft Shell Crab Nama Harumaki was very nice. Light, crunchy and fresh.

Lunch @Simply d, NU Sentral

Simply d offers an array of Western & Asian infused Pastas,Salads,Sandwiches & more. I was told that Simply d is from The Delicious group. A few friends shared about this place. Made me wanna try it too. Currently there are only 3 outlets available in Klang Valley. Located at Avenue K, NU Sentral, The Curve. The outlet at NU Sentral would be very convenient if you are using the public transport. Because NU Sentral is linked to KL Sentral 🙂

A simple and casual looking cafe. It was quite crowded on weekdays during lunch hour. Patrons are mostly white collar people.

Menu also simple.

My sis and I decided to go for this set. We both chose pasta inclusive of a drink. Top up another RM5 for an additional skewer. Choose between chicken or mushroom skewer.

Its self service here. You gotto place your order at the counter. Look what I got! Free ice cream! *showing my happy face to sis* You can claim your free ice cream on the same day or the next visit before the expiry date.

Sis chose Chili Chicken Pastamee using Angelhair pasta.

The chicken skewer was tasty & juicy.

Unfortunately the mushroom skewer was disappointing. Still quite raw leh… 😦

We had Iced Lemonade. Was quite bland. Instead of lemonade, I felt like it was a cuppa iced water with hint of lemon taste.

I had Sweet Basil & Cashew Nut Pesto with char grilled chicken. I chose linguine.

Love the vibrant color of the pesto coating the pasta. It was delicious.

Redeemed the ice cream after our meal. *check out flavor of the day from the counter* You can have a choice of ice cream in a cup or in a cone. I want cone!! I felt the taste of its soft ice cream more like a frozen yogurt. Probably because of its flavor. I like the Mango flavor. But not the white chocolate one.

wow…they also provide delivery which is good for sharing especially if there’s any occasions in offices.

Happy Halloween @The Coffee Parlour, Seremban 2

What is Halloween?

Halloween is a secular holiday combining vestiges of traditional harvest festival celebrations with customs more peculiar to the occasion such as costume wearing, trick-or-treating, pranksterism, and decorative imagery based on the changing of the seasons, death, and the supernatural. It takes place on October 31.

Though it was regarded up until the last few decades of the 20th century as primarily a children’s holiday, in more recent years activities such as costume parties, themed decorations, and even trick-or-treating have grown increasingly popular with adults as well, making Halloween a celebration for all ages.

Did you participated in any Halloween party?

The Coffee Parlour at Seremban 2 has came up with the idea of introducing Halloween set meal in conjunction to Halloween day. The Halloween set meal was available from 25/10/2014 till 31/10/2014 for just RM18.80.

At The Coffee Parlour, they also serve aromatic coffee and cakes are made fresh.

This was the Halloween Set Meal. Eerie? Gross?

Earthworms topped with Brain Sauce

Its actually Spaghetti Bolognaise. Fingers are made of sausages. Nails are made of almond flakes. Eyes are made of hard boiled egg with olives.

The Witch’s Potion

Its actually F&N carbonated drinks with lychees+cherry.

Sweetened Graveyard

Its actually cookie crumbs+chocolate mousse

Lets eat dirt! Hahaha 😀 😀

It was a fun Halloween lunch! The menu was creative and the food was good. Although I felt the fingers (sausages) were quite ‘geli’ while eating it.

Wishing everyone Happy Halloween and have a nice weekend 🙂

Ninja Joe has arrived Seremban

Hiak Hiak Hiak…… good news to Serembanian. Ninja Joe has arrived Seremban. Heard so much about their ‘pork burger’… somehow this was my first time trying it. *malunya… 😀

Located at Matrix Court, Jalan Lobak… the ninja arrived on June 13, 2014. Received overwhelming response from the Seremban folks!

You know what… the founder of Ninja Joe is actually a Serembanian. But how come they don’t open it in Seremban first hor? *feeling curious*

*trying to decide what to order from the simple one page menu*

Ninja Joe is an original Japanese quick serve concept best known for delicious pork burgers!

Chefs at work. More grilling and frying of pork patties and bacon. Yummss…

The dining area is rather small with limited seating place. Hmm… I suggest they should improvise their ventilation system. Because the kitchen area is quite open. In result the place was kinda smokey.

Chuck – RM15.90/set

Named after the one and only Chuck Norris, this burger is packed with everything = Juicy quarter pound pork patty, a whole egg, cheese, crunchy veg, topped with crispy onion rings and most importantly…REAL BACON!!

Spicy Ninja – RM8.90/ set (comes with crinkle cut fries & a drink)

Oriental Ninja – RM8.90/set (substitute fries with Shurikens by topping up RM2). Shurikens are deep fried mashed potato + pork patties. I felt the texture was abit tad soft but tasty!

Shuko – RM6.90. Like our Chinese mantao with pork belly. The warm and soft mantao sandwiched with tasty pork belly was delicious.

Look at my baby’s face expression! I think he was drooling too. Just like mummy….. hehehe….

Verdict : I like their soft burger buns and also the tasty and moist pork patties! Yummeh….
