Brunch @Coffee & Dreams, Seremban 2

I am not a heavy coffee drinker. But I love the fact that there are more coffee joints opened in Seremban 2. Currently there are 4 (did I miss out any?). 4 is definitely a small number compared to KL. Anyhow…quality is more important than quantity right? hehe….

I’ve just visited Coffee & Dreams located at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. The so-called happening place in Seremban 2 with restaurants and pubs.

I enjoyed having a cuppa aromatic coffee in a cosy environment.

“A coffee a day keeps the doctor away”

Lets see if Coffee & Dreams is ‘my cup of tea’.

Cakes, muffins, pudding and pastries are served here.

I also like the quiet and calm environment when I was there. Service was not bad too.

Selections of ‘hot drinks’ on their menu.

The current on going promotion for breakfast, lunch and tea time which I thought its a good deal.

The free glass of watermelon juice upon ordering lunch from their on going promotion.

Latte

Chocolate Mint

Cappuccino

Full Spaghetti with Ham – RM15.90

The spaghetti bolognese was alright but not memorable.

Chicken Chop

Skinless and boneless chicken chop was grilled to perfection and drizzled with fragrant black pepper sauce. Alongside with some greens. The chicken meat was tender and also tasty. Quite good.

I wanted to try their waffle. Therefore I went for original flavor;

Butter & Syrup Waffle – RM6.90

The waffle turn out to be quite nice. Not dry but fluffy.

Mille Crepe (Vanilla). There were actually few other flavors…but I chose to try the original flavor. Want to try the originality ma… hehe.. Unfortunately I felt that their mille crepe was just average. Too much cream I felt. A nice mille crepe shouldn’t look collapsing, right?

This “I dunno what name” chocolate cake was better.

Yay…I finally got the chance to taste this handmade pudding by Sweet Montage. There were few other flavors, but I chose Salted Gula Melaka. Price at RM7.90 for a small jar… a lil pricey?? But I love everything from the packaging, the taste and the texture. Wobbly texture and wasn’t too sweet. Like a combination of custard & tau fu fah 🙂

Verdict: If you notices… I actually visited Coffee & Dreams on 2 different occasions. First round was for drinks and cakes…2nd round to sample the food. Eventually the drinks (coffee) tasted better on my 2nd visit… first visit made me felt that the coffee taste was rather mild. I hope they will be more consistent in brewing their coffee. Will definitely return for more coffee and food 😉

Dinner @Plan B, Midvalley

*A long overdue post* hehe….

A dinner I had at Plan B, few days before I went into labour. LOL!

My first visit to Plan B at Midvalley was memorable. Therefore I suggested to Alex to settle our dinner here.

I told him that I wanted to eat so many things before I go into labour. Somehow the space in my stomach restricted me from doing so đŸ˜Ļ

Plain water is free of charge and refillable.

Alex ordered a cuppa Latte

Wild Mushroom Soup – RM13

finished with a swirl of cream

The mushroom soup was so rich and creamy with chunks of mushroom. I doubt I could finish all by myself.

Some of my friends complimented that their Asian Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (RM26) is good. Therefore I thought why not give it a try. Soft shell crab, cili padi, crispy curry leaves & chili flakes in creamy butter sauce. I find it quite nice. Something we don’t come across in other restaurant cooking this way. The creamy butter sauce reminds me of crabs cooked with creamy butter sauce from those ‘tai chow’ restaurants. Yumss… By the way…. it wasn’t spicy pun….

Turkey Ham & Cheddar Toastie – RM17

with sweet potato fries and side salad.

Check out the turkey ham + cheese sandwiched in between 2 slices of fresh butter toasted bread. I like the sandwich, I also like the sweet potato fries. It is  interesting to serve sweet potato fries rather than the usual french fries which is quite common.

Ahh…when come to desserts, especially cakes..I am always spoiled with choice!! Finally I made a wise decision to choose Caramel Chocolate Banana Cake (RM11) to dapao back home. Really love the richness of this cake. Chocolate & banana can never go wrong! *abang adik* hehe….

I will visit again to try other food from their menu!

Affordable Set Lunch @Tappers Cafe

“The concept of Tappers CafÊ drew its inspiration from Malaysia’s colonial heritage and the popular “snack bars” of the late 60s and early 70s where Hainanese chefs whipped out irresistibly delicious local and western cuisine in a sober colonial air-cooled setting.”

Tappers CafÊ may not be something new to some of you. There are several outlets in Klang Valley. This was my first time trying their food. Coincidentally I was at One City Mall… I was looking for a place to have a simple lunch, then I saw their set lunch menu which I thought the pricing is quite affordable.

IMG_7581

The set lunch is available daily from 11am – 2pm. It comes together with a drink. Currently there are offering 16 different types of set lunch on their menu. Apart from that, they also offers breakfast sets too.

Check out their set lunch menu HERE

IMG_7588Drinks are included in the set lunch. Just pay for one price. Choice of drinks were Honey Lemon/ Lemon Tea/ Lime Juice/ Goo Leng Ping.

IMG_7587Chicken Parmigiana – RM13.90

Mozarella & Parmesan cheese melt over breaded chicken in spaghetti tomato sauce served with chips and coleslaw.

~no complain on this~

IMG_7585Roast Chicken – RM13.90

Roast Chicken marinated with bbq sauce served with roast potato and coleslaw.

~Oppss…. the potatoes more like boiled potato than roast potato. Apart from that the roast chicken was nice.~

IMG_7586Tappers Hainanese Chicken Chop – RM13.90

Northern Hainan style chicken chop served with potato & peas.

~generous portion of  chicken fillet. Tasty and nice. But I would preferred if they deep fried the potato wedges. The above boiled potatoes were sort of undercooked.~

Dinner @ Inaho Sushi, Skypark OneCity USJ, Subang Jaya

It was on Christmas day and also Alex’s birthday. I decided to treat him dinner.

There’s this newly opened mall in our neighborhood. So, we pay a visit to One City Mall located at USJ25, Subang Jaya. Nothing much to shop right now… but I noticed there are numbers of restaurants here. More choice on food.

We were then aware of their ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ located at 10th floor. Go up via the glass lift! ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ also claimed as Biggest Rooftop F&B Area by the Malaysia Book of Records.

We were quite impressed about the Sky Dining here. I meant the atmosphere and view. There is a Sports Bar, a Japanese Restaurant, a K-pop inspired Korean Restaurant(opening soon), a Thai Restaurant, a Restaurant cum Bar designed in nautical theme and a Live Bar (opening soon).

Therefore we end up settling our dinner at Inaho because Hb decided to go for Japanese food.

1506744_10151974842217740_1723310561_nBefore our dinner, we even went for a movie at Premium-X Cinemas @ One City. More info about this cinema HERE. Other than the usual TGV, GSC, this cinema is quite classy I felt. Although the movie hall was rather small, but the seats (in leather) were quite comfortable and the sound system wasn’t too bad either. Ohh ya…ticket price was RM13 for new movies.

View of the Sky Park.

It was their first opening day during Christmas day. This is their 2nd outlet. Understand that their first outlet is located at The Curve Damansara.

We purposely choose a seat here (outdoor) rather than indoor just to enjoy the evening breeze and the view. Something different ma…. hehe…

My view. Onlooking USJ ^_^

Just like other chain Japanese restaurants offering set meals, ala-carte dishes and desserts. Inaho is also ‘pork-free’.

1503374_10151972462232740_817222302_nWhile waiting for food to arrive. Cam-whore is the Asians habit rite?? LOL!

Started our meal with Ebiten Roll (Prawn Tempura Roll)RM18

Hb’s favorite, Shishamo. I want to LOL at this plate of shishamo. So skinny and ‘kecut’. Life must be tough… 😀 😀

Another appetizer, Yakitori Moriawase (Grilled Meat on Skewers)RM16 Comes with minced chicken ball, chicken’s skin, chicken meat and chicken liver. Unfortunately the yakitori was lack of flavors. Meat wasn’t tasty and I felt they should grill a lil longer.

Tori Nabe (Chicken Hot Pot)RM22 was good for sharing. Portion was quite big I felt. This was not bad. As you can see, there are alot of ingredients in the pot. The soup was tasty too.

One of the Inaho Set that we ordered was Salmon Sashimi SetRM22. Comes together with salad, salmon sashimi, rice and miso soup.

Thick slices of salmon sashimi were served.

Their opening promo. Since we ordered one of the Inaho Set, we were given a free scoop of green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was quite smooth.

To end my meal, I also ordered a dessert. Ichigo Parfait (Strawberry Parfait)RM16. made by layering whipping cream, cornflakes, strawberries in a clear glass, and topping with ice cream.

My verdict: Good in term of pricing and food portion. Prices were okay with that serving size. However the food was just average.

Twelve Cupcakes @Sunway Pyramid

I noticed this cupcake shop when I happens to be in Sunway Pyramid. Being a sweet tooth person, I got attracted by the varieties of cupcakes sold here. However I was kiamsiap to make any purchase. LOL!!

Then, one day I read about twelve cupcakes reviewed by Sean. He wrote some positive feedback about the cupcakes. (Located next to Wendy’s, facing the ice skating rink. )

Twelve Cupcakes, Singapore’s award-winning cupcakery. These freshly baked cupcakes are handmade from scratch every day. At Sunway Pyramid is their first outlet available in Malaysia. Next, will be opening soon at One Utama Shopping Mall and Midvalley Megamall.

So, I took 1 step forward to make my purchase. Not many lar…. I only bought 3 to try. hehehe…..But I stood in front of the display glass for several minutes because I couldn’t decide which to choose. All flavors look yummy to me. There are some special flavors made for every month.

Assorted flavors. Spoil with choice.

The above 12 flavors are available daily. Price of each cupcake is RM6. While for special flavors is RM7 each. RM34 for 1/2 dozen and RM66 for 1 dozen.

A kind reminder about the cupcakes.

I had a heavy dinner on that day. So, I kept these cupcakes for the following day. It was still good and tasted nice although I kept it overnight.

From left:-

PB CHOCOLATE
Fluffy peanut butter frosting on a moist
chocolate cupcake. This is peanut butter like
you’ve never tried it – really smooth!
RED VELVET
Fluffy vanilla cream cheese on a classic red velvet. This is our bestseller and a must-try!
CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE
Chocolate cream cheese on a moist
chocolate cupcake. Chocolate lovers
love this.

Cupcakes are sometimes too sweet (tooth killer) because of the overly sweet frosting. But not for the cupcakes here. I felt the sweetness are just nice. The cakes are moist too. I was very satisfied with all 3 flavors I’ve chose. I wanna buy again!! Hahaha…..

My technique of eating cupcake just like THIS. Cut the cake into 1/2 then sandwich it. Less messy this way…. 😉

Lunch @Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul, Paradigm Mall

Penang is famous for Teochew Cendol.

Unfortunately I’ve not tried before, and my last trip to Penang was years ago. How sad and embarrassing. T_T

However I consider this as good news because the famous Teochew Cendol has now opened its outlet at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya. It would be great for KL folks!

Its just a small section located at lower ground floor in front of Tesco supermarket. This place was crowded during lunch hour even on weekdays!

Originally located at Lebuh Keng Kwee and only later known as Penang Road Famous TeoChew Chendul.

A short and simple menu is displayed at the ordering counter. Order and pay here, get a number and the worker will bring your food to your table.

Lets begin with their specialty. Looks like everybody are here for this. That goes without saying…because I saw everyone eating it. I would love to try the original one without any additional stuffs. You can have the one with White Coffee, Durian, Cempedak or Ice Cream. For a bowl of Original Teochew Chendul, it is priced at RM4.90. I would give 10/10 (based on my own taste) for this bowl of chendul. Because it meets my satisfaction from the green worm-like jelly (thin strands and not too hard), red beans & kidney beans were properly cooked and lastly sufficient and fragrantful gula melaka!

Then we ordered a plate of Rojak (RM6.90) to share. The ingredients for this rojak was fruits (mango, pineapple), cucumber, taufu pok, cuttlefish tossed with rich fermented shrimp paste and sprinkled with crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. The rojak was nice I felt.

Only 2 types of noodles are served here. So I tried the Assam Laksa (RM7.90), no kick at all. Kinda unsatisfying lor…. đŸ˜Ļ

Then, my brother had the Penang Curry Mee (RM7.90). I felt the curry mee is at least better than my assam laksa. But I would prefer it spicier. Extra sambal please…. 😉

So, are you craving for a bowl of chendul at this hour? hehe…..

Lunch @Italiannies, The Gardens Mall

My latest meet up with my girlfriends was lunch at Italiannies, The Gardens Mall. It has been a long time since the last time I dine in Italiannies. I had a good experience with the food and service at Italiannies, Sunway Pyramid back then.

Italiannies, The Gardens has relocate to this new location. One floor below the previous location. Pretty spacious.

Nic and I arrived first. So, we decided to get a seat while we wait for Ash & Yi to come. While waiting, we were served with these complimentary bread. Next to it is a plate filled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

This is currently new on their menu. 7 wonders of pizza. Upon ordering pizza from this menu, you can add on drink (mountain dew pitch black) or dessert (panna cotta) at a cheaper price.

We chose Barbeque Smoked Duck Pizza (RM35.90)

Smoked duck breast with a barbeque base, topped with peaches, onions, chili flakes, mozzarella cheese & arugula.

Thin and crispy crust. I like the smoked duck breast. But I thought the topping could be a lil extra. Don’t you think the topping is too sikit?

Quattro Platter (RM37.90)

A combination of risotto balls, calamari, fried lemon cheesy balls and zucchini strings. Complete with Marinara sauce and Alfredo sauce for dipping.

This was served as ‘starters’. Quattro Platter is ideal for sharing. I like everything that was served on this plate. Except for fried lemon cheesy balls. I find that the cheese taste was too strong. May be because I’m not really a cheese person 😀

Classic Carbonara (RM37.90) Regular

Fettuccine pasta tossed in Parmesan cream sauce with smoked beef bacon chicken and fresh button mushroom.

The al-dente Carbonara Fettucine was nice and not too cloying. However we were quite surprise that a popular Italian restaurant uses ready made pastas that we could easily purchase in boxes from the supermarket instead of doing from scratch. Is this a common practice in other Italian restaurants too?

Nic kept her promise and brought us her homemade kimchi. It was very nice. I had almost half of it. hahaha…. *janji ditepati*! TQ Nic 🙂

Ash on the other hand also planned to bring some muffins. Unfortunately, she said the result of her muffins were not pretty. So, she decided not to bring. Its okay….. we can still sample them in future rite? hehe….

Overall : The food was not bad. Unfortunately the service was quite bad. In terms of when we asked for a glass of plain water, we gotto ask again and again from different person because its like so difficult to serve a glass of water. When came to bill…. we were told dunno what system was down. So, they gotto do manual calculation, via calculator. Calculate the wrong amount for us! Aduhhh….

Let’s not ruin the day with some petty stuffs. Our group photo together with our ‘big boss’ Abel jai! LOL!

We saw benefit was having a roadshow and there was a nice pastel color backdrop. We thought it would be nice to use as the background for our group photo. Unfortunately we couldn’t ‘catch’ anyone to take photo for us. So, we ended up cam-whoring ourselves. LOL!

4 siao char bo having cam-whore!! 😀 😀

Breakfast @ Yuen Garden Dim Sum, Puchong

Having dim sum as breakfast just like the Hongkie ^_^

There are countless dim sum restaurants in Puchong. So far I’ve only tried 2 from 2 different restaurants serving decent dim sum with an affordable price, at Bandar Puteri Puchong. I seldom go for dim sum breakfast…usually had noodles. I preferred to dine with 3-4 person, so that I could order more types of dim sum.

This time around with my mummy, sister and little niece; I would like to bring them to a different restaurant for dim sum. So I did a google search and looks like Yuen Garden Dim Sum has many positive reviews from the customers.

Occupying the corner lot of a 3-storey building.

However this restaurant is non-air conditioned.

A sign of “Please wait to be seated” is placed at the entrance. I felt its more organized this way. Rather than standing/ chupping next to a table hoping that person would quickly swallow their food and drinks so that I could get a seat.

Siew Mai….

and Har Kau are both abang adik that you should order in a dim sum restaurant. In my perception..both has to be good else I wouldn’t give a pass to that restaurant. hehe…

Luckily both Har Kau & Siew Mai were not bad. Meaty and the prawns were fresh and crunchy.

Minced Pork + Century Egg Porridge was quite smooth and tasty.

Their Lo Mai Kai fulfilled the criteria for having all the ingredients. Pork, Chicken, Chinese Sausage & Mushroom. The taste was good but I would prefer if the glutinous rice were to be softer 😉

Steamed Pork Ribs were alright.

Stuffed Chili was quite nice. Generous stuffing and the taste was good.

The firm Fish balls

Ohh… I like these Fried Chicken Wings! Crispy exterior! The end part of wing is stuffed with fish paste. Special right?

Char Siew Pao

My favorite Wu Kok! Very ‘yam-mie’ and crispy with nice pork filling.

Flaky crust filled with wobbly egg custard, Egg Tarts were alright but not the best I’ve eaten 🙂

I like the sight of my table filled with baskets of dim sum 🙂

Everything is served warm. If there’s any dim sum that you would like to order but its not available on the push cart, you may order from the staffs. They’ll bring it to you. Overall the food, price and environment are acceptable. But I end up feeling quite thirsty after the meal. I suspect may be the porridge. =_=

Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch @ Sukishi, IOI Mall Puchong

So sorry to my readers. My blog has been so quiet, lacking of post. (Blame it on my work load).

Got miss me or not? LOL!

Last weekend I went for Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch.

Thanks to Kc Wong for sharing this deal:- Sukiyaki Buffet Lunch at Sukishi, IOI Mall Puchong for RM20.90

He also commented that Sukishi is under the company of SUKI-YA. The difference is that Sukishi serves pork while SUKI-YA is pork free.

I thought it would be a great deal to bring along my family for a sukiyaki & shabu-shabu lunch. Moreover it was mummy’s birthday as well 😉

Sukishi is located next to GSC Cinema of IOI Mall, Puchong. Luckily I managed to get a table for 5. However there is a limitation on dining hour. Max. 2 hours dining time.

-SUKISHI-
Eat all you can sukiyaki & shabu shabu (Promo Lunch RM 29.80++ 11am-5pm ) (Dinner RM 39.80++ 5pm-10pm) Children from 5-12 50% off buffet price

1385712_432872303486139_1753280807_n
current promo. Till 30th November 2013

Our dining table with nice view. *paiseh* didn’t know there is a lake behind IOI Mall also. *tsk tsk tsk*

The aroma of bubbling broth and simmering meat lures shopping savants indulging in retail therapy within IOI Mall Puchong to the contemporary indoor dining space of Sukishi, offering sukiyaki and sushi buffets. Individual tables and booth seating accommodates groups, while partitioned hot pots allow taste buds to savour a combination of sukiyaki, kimchi, shabu shabu, or miso soup flavours. Trays of Australian beef, chicken, and pork eagerly await selection as contenders of greens, mushrooms, and tofu ensure a balanced diet and fulfilment of food pyramids.

A simple one page menu for you to choose your choice of soup and meat. Also, in case you’ll love to add on some ala-carte dishes. I felt that the ala-carte dishes are reasonably priced.

Not sure how to enjoy sukiyaki? Fret not…its as simple as ABC by reading through this attractive info sheet placed on the dining table.

*Japanese steam rice is available upon request*

Choice of soup. We tried all 4 types. HAHA! Since we had 2 pots ma…. I personally liked Kimuchi (kimchi) and Sukiyaki as soup base. Because its tasty and goes well with the ingredients (eg: meat).

The dipping sauce.

Well…for the meat, we chose pork and chicken. From the photo, you can see that the meat are thinly sliced. The meat were fresh too!

Their sushi from the counter (inclusive in the bill) were very laku. I couldn’t get the chance to take a photo when the tray is fully filled.  đŸ˜Ļ

Selections of vege, mushrooms, beef balls, clams, udon.

*must try their udon*

Dressing sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger.

While waiting for the soup to boil….. lets have some sushi 🙂

We also get a complimentary plate of tori karage (RM8.90 value), for Groupon users I suppose.

Bottomless Soft Drinks.

Condiments for the soft ice cream. Crushed peanuts, chocolate rice, natta de coco, cornflakes.

You can choose the ice cream to be serve on cup or cone. Aduishhh…. my face is so much bigger than the ice cream cone neh!! @_@ Anyway…they only serve green tea and chocolate flavor ice cream. But I preferred the green tea flavor. Smooth and the green tea taste wasn’t too strong.

Verdict : It was a pleasant experience. The environment here was not bad. I personally like the pork slices. Although we dine with groupon vouchers…. the service was good too.

Happy Birthday to my dearest Mummy. (Cake from Donutes Coffee & Cake, Puchong)

My recent Sarikei Food Trail

Undeniable that Sarikei, Sarawak is considered as my another home. In this peace and rather slow and steady town… it would be a stress free place to relax your mind.

Although most of the time my staying period were short, but I’ll try my best to fill my time with food. LOL! Especially Sarawak Foochow food which are difficult to get in KL. I do enjoy the food here. Guess most of my friends are gonna hate me for showing them something they couldn’t eat. Haha! Its like you can see but cannot eat. So torturing :-p

Below are just part of food I had. Because I decided to only share the ones that I like most.

Fried Mee Suah on the very first night.

Fried Mini Kompia with Minced Meat Filling. Aren’t they look like Pacman? 😀

Kuey Teow Tomato for supper, perhaps? 🙂

To satisfy my cravings…. Kampua for breakfast on the following day!

Followed by thinly sliced pork liver soup added some red rice wine.

Thanks to Arthur for informing me about this nice Mochi with Peanut Butter filling and Nestum coating from Kim Hing Bakery and Confectionery.

In every coffee shops before your food is served, this is how they place your cutlery. In a cup filled with hot warm. Guess its more cleaner than wiping with tissues right? Unfortunately its not practiced at coffee shops in KL.

Fish Maw Soup

& Sea Cucumber Soup are my favorite soup.

Stir Fry Midin is a must have vege without fail. My favorite vege!

Stir Fry Cangkuk Manis is also another must have vege!

Zhou Cai Hung Ngan with Pork Liver rocks!

Foochow Fried yellow noodles in soup

I also dropped by Bintagor town, which is just short distance from Sarikei for their so-called popular rojak. I find that the rojak taste has deteriorate. Also kinda pricey… If I’m not mistaken this plate of rojak was around RM8-RM10 for this kind of serving size.

Had a bowl of ABC on a hot sunny afternoon. But people here called it ‘Jalok’.

A stroll to the morning market is pretty interesting and knowledgeable when you actually able to see something new.

First time seeing these fruit. Claimed as ‘Local Lychee’. Not cheap though.

This is how kompia, the popular biscuit is made. Kompia is made with lard, onions, salt and flour. A ball of flour is stuffed with a filling of other desired ingredients and flattened with a rolling pin. It is then slapped onto the sides of a traditional home-made Chinese oven.

Some Foochow pastry sold in town.

Arthur also highly recommended this to me. The most expensive noodle I had in Sarikei. LOL! But with no regrets. Tom Yam Big Prawn Noodle for RM26.

Very rich and flavorful tom yam soup with fresh and sweet prawn flesh.

Not forgetting also to dine at Sarawak’s popular fast food franchise, Sugar Bun.

Mine was like a complete meal. Comes with spicy fried chicken, fish fillet, savory rice and pickled vege!

You can also satisfy your nasi lemak craving here at Sugar Bun.  Apart from fried chicken or sandwiches, they also serve asian dishes. Claypot dishes served with rice.

A day before going back to KL, I also dropped by Aik Seng Cafe for the popular Roti Kahwin. Charcoal toasted bun spread with butter, kaya and peanut butter.

We had Stir Fry Rice Cakes for dinner in a restaurant, the night before we return to KL.

Last but not least, save the best for the last. MIL’s Foochow Red Rice Wine Mee Suah before we return to KL. MIL also bought Sarikei’s chicken for us to bring home!

Yea…a trip with lotsa food and higher chances of gaining weight!
