I Miss My………

Last night, I attended my ex-colleague’s wedding in a Chinese Restaurant with good ambiance. As usual, the host will play some slide shows to the guests while waiting for the dinner to begin. From the moment they started to play the slide show of the couple’s pre-wedding photos, it reminds me of my wedding. Yes, no doubt my eyes were watching it, but my mind was like replaying my own wedding. Everything seems like a flash back to me. :- had a memorable pre-wed photo session, walked down the aisle, the wine toasting(yum sengggg…) and lots more. In fact, each wedding I attended also gave me the warm feeling and memories. Looks like I miss my wedding very much. Perhaps; was the once and only beautiful moment on that pretty white wedding gown.

On my Actual Wedding Day (26 September 2009)

My Pre-Wedding Photos…..love looking through each and every piece of it.

McD has came up with the idea of 2 Free Big Breakfast with purchase of RM5. All you need is just download & print the coupon. The promo ends on 31 March. Lor Mee ala Terengganu

Terengganu Style Loh Mee; Mummy claimed that she used to have it when she was a child. YES! Mummy is orang Terengganu. Erm…what is the difference between the usual Lor Mee and this? I would say, the soup! Mummy got the recipe from a cookbook.

Broth

  • 4-5 shallots, pound to a paste
  • 500g prawns, shelled and deveined
  • 125ml dark soy sauce (kicap manis)
  • 500g cooked crab meat (substitute with chicken thigh)
  • 2 litres hot chicken stock
  • 6-8 tablespoon sweet potato flour, mixed with 125ml water
  • salt to taste

500g yellow noodles(substitute with lou shu fun), blanched

Toppings

  • 300g bean sprouts, tailed & blanched
  • 100g Chinese chives, cut into 3cm length and blanched
  • 1 large cucumber, cut into julienne
  • chilies or bird-eye chillies, sliced
  • fried shallots
  • 5 limes, quartered

To prepare broth:

Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Fry shallot paste until fragrant. Add prawns and kicap manis. Cook for 5 minutes. Add crab meat (here I substitute with chicken thigh), water & chicken stock; bring to boil. Lower heat and stir in potato flour mixture. Bring to boil. Season with salt and remove from heat.

To serve:

Place noodles in a bowl. Add broth and top with bean sprouts, chives, cucumber, chillies, fried shallots and squeeze of lime.

Happy Birthday Vernice

Vernice, my lil lovely niece is now 2 years old. The rather playful and mischievous  girl is now able to sing, run, play and speak. Her mom, my sis planned a small birthday party among the family members. It was an early birthday celebration. Since the exact date falls on weekday, we decided to celebrate it few days earlier on weekend where everyone will be home. Vernice adores Barney, the purple dinosaur so much till her mom actually set a so-called theme based on Barney.

I requested her to pose with her toys.

I requested her to pose with her Barney stuff. She can actually understand my orders well.

She likes people to take photos of her. Each time she sees me with a camera; she will point to the camera and says “yiyi….foetoe foetoe..” After each shot; she will come back to me to view the playback.

Sis came home with a box of cupcakes with Barney figurines which she ordered from “miza mizo” with a fair price of RM50(12 chocolate cuppies). Vernice was so delighted when she sees it. With a wide smile on her face; she whispered softly ‘wah…Barneeeeyyyyyyyyy’.

The Barney party pack that we bought from Jusco.

Food prepared for the celebration.

Vernice likes popo’s fried noodle very much. Till she insisted to feed by herself.

Vernice’s Barney bowl. Each time she uses this bowl for her meal; she will say, “Barney oi oi” (Barney is asleep).

Her attention was fully diverted to the Barney program.

Hug & Kisses to popo.

Vernice distributed her Barney party hat to everyone of us and requires everyone to put it on.

Mummy; can I taste it? (sambil cubit B.J’s ear)

I’ll try Baby Bop.

Barney, Baby Bop, B.J.

The chocolate cupcake taste good!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VERNICE!! YI YI LOVES YOU!!! 😉

A Disaster that hit Japan on March 2011

Almost every year there would be a disaster. Which is a sad news to everyone.  In early year of 2011, on 11th of March at 2:46 p.m. local time, (about 150 km off the coast of the island of Honshu) a disaster happened in Japan. Everyone knew how bad it hit Japan when a large and destructive earthquake struck  over night. The magnitude 8.9 quake has generated a 30-foot tsunami that destroyed the whole town. These has became our daily highlight & discussion. I couldn’t deny that this disaster has cause a great impact to the Japan.

*a list of the likely impact of and response to the devastating earthquake*

Now that the quake & tsunami has subside. Yet people are living in fear worrying about the exposed radiation(risk of developing cancer). Until today; there have been a total of four explosions at the plant since it was damaged in Friday’s massive quake and tsunami. Really pray there wouldn’t be anymore explosion and hope the government could come up with a solution soon.

There were series of photos I got from boston.com about the vast devastation. I was holding back my tears while looking each and every piece of the photos.

The whole town gone. Whats left are just debris. (Yamada, Japan)

A 4 month old miracle baby was rescued . (Ishinomaki city in Miyagi)

A toppled ship in the middle of nowhere (Hachinohe, northern Japan)

A destroyed town

Survivors are placed at an evacuation center in Rikuzentakata.

Walking along an empty road surrounded by damaged properties. How sad it could be.

People waiting for their turn to make phone calls using the temporary phones set up for residents at the Natori City Hall in Natori. From this photo; I can see how discipline the Japanese are.

Japanese rescue workers carry the body of a tsunami victim in devastated town of Otsuchi March 14, 2011. In the town of Otsuchi in Iwate prefecture, 12,000 out of a population of 15,000 are believed to have disappeared following Friday’s massive earthquake and tsunami.

A photo remained in in Higashimatsushima City.

To people whom does not lend  a hand on this, its better to remain silent and pray for the best. Rather than being ignorant by giving comments without thinking the consequences.

Comics of The Day

Feeling bored today. I couldn’t held but to share some comics for a lil laughs.

Lunch @ Kita No Zen, Hokkaido Ichiba; The Garden Mall

This lunch was planned as a meet up before Wanyi left for work to Singapore. I wouldn’t say its a farewell, after all she will still return and we can still meet. Midvalley and The Gardens  will normally be our meeting point as its more like a center point between us. Should be more convenient I guess. Trying to figure out what should we eat or try this time. Each time we would try different food. I wonder when only we can finish trying all the food from both Midvalley & The Gardens ^^

Initially Ashley suggested Yogi Tree. Couldn’t remember how the plan changed. Lately I really craved for Japanese food ever since I watched this drama; The Rippling Blossom showing on Astro on Demand. Therefore; I would say this restaurant has fulfilled my wish!!

Nic and Mel arrived earlier then came Ashley and Wanyi. Lucky it was still early (at 12pm), therefore we don’t need to queue long.

Facing directly in front of the center escalator

The interior

We were directed to our seat. And was given 4 booklets of menu which comprises of set lunch, ala-carte, ice cream/dessert & the last one I have forgotten. Oppss

While studying the menu, Ashley said the menu is kinda similar to Rakuzen. The answer to your question; (I got it from a blogger) —-> Kita No Zen (the restaurant) and Hokkaido Ichiba (the adjoining ice cream/ dessert lounge) were opened by the people behind Rakuzen and Sushi/Pasta Zanmai.

Hot towels & Green Tea are served to guests for free of charge.

All of us decided to go for set lunch.

Nic ordered Yakiniku Zen(Grilled Beef Set)- RM28

Based on Nic, Ashley & Wanyi‘s interpretation; the meat is tender and juicy. While the gravy is tasty too.

Ash ordered Unagi Kabayaki Zen (Roasted Eel Set) – RM30

The size of unagi will not disappoint you. Apart from that, the unagi taste good too.

Mel ordered Nabeyaki Udon to Salmon Don Zen (Claypot Udon & Salmon Rice Set) – RM32

This set is good! Especially the slices of salmon. Its very fresh.

There was a moral lesson to learn here. Please read up the whole description of food before ordering. I somehow missed the word ‘rice’. Therefore it surprises me with 1 bowl of noodle & 1 bowl of rice. How can I finish all??  So, I scooped some noodle for Wanyi.

There you go, Wanyi’s Set. (No name)

All of us very bersungguh-sungguh to clear everything.

We requested for desserts to serve after meal.

Wanyi ordered Macha Ice no Hokkaido Milk Parfait (RM8.80)

Green Tea Ice Cream served in Hokkaido Milk with Glutinous Rice Ball & Green Tea Jelly, topped with Hokkaido Red Bean.

Macha Waffle (RM9.80)

Waffle with Green Tea Ice Cream topped with Green Tea Sauce & Hokkaido Red Bean

Sesame Indulgence (RM8.80)

The above desserts; only the green tea ice cream is good. Not applicable to the waffles. Because both types of waffles are so-so only.

Just 4 of us

We were at Hokkaido!!!

Love this cheeky pose of us!! (Wanyi, Ashley, Mel, Nic)

**Definitely will re-visit. Hinting it on Hubby now ^^

Food : 4/5

Ambiance : 4/5

Price : Worth the price. Big portion of food.

How To Measure Heel Height

Never this question came across my mind until last Saturday when we were at Vincci, Ashley asked me whether do I know how to measure heel height. I paused a second. Ehhh….how come I never ask myself before huh?? May be because I seldom wear heels. Or hardly anybody ask me how many inches is your high heels?

I finally googled it and got the answer!

A = Heel Height

The heel is taken from the floor, to the seam where the heel meets the footbed.

Besides that; there is a general categorization for heels:

Flat from flat mm to 25mm
Low from 25 mm to 60 mm
Medium from 60mm to 85mm
High from 85mm to 100mm
Very High over 100mm

to live to love to learn
