An Engineer, a daughter, a mother to an adorable child who has passion in photography, food & travel. My photography covers food, people, landscape....whatever that caught my attention in just a click! I admired people who actually put effort in food arrangement before presenting it to guests. Presentation gives the first impression. I love to eat and also sharing it to my readers. I also love to travel. I meant who doesn't? Because that's the time when you are work free. LOL! You don't have to be rich to travel. A local trip is considered as traveling too. What matters most is the time. I am reachable at 'thammelissa@yahoo.com' Thanks for your visit!

Lunch at “Silver Dragon Restaurant”

There’s a restaurant newly opened near my house; located at City Park Seremban 2. Therefore I suggested to dad to try the food there. Moreover its on Sunday; it would be more like a family day.

To my surprise; the interior of the restaurant is quite nice and the design is rather modern too.

I like this stairs. It would be nice if a bride would to pose while walking up/ down the stairs ^^

I cooked Kimchi Angel’s Hair Pasta

I prepared Kimchi angel’s hair pasta.  Hehehe…sounds very fusion right. I like to mix and match ingredient to produce a simple dish. No doubt its not formal….but to me; most important is the taste can bind well.

This is very simple and easy to prepare.

Below are the ingredients needed:-

boiled angel’s hair pasta & set aside.

Kimchi, sliced pork(seasoned with light soya sauce, corn flour & pepper), minced 2 cloves garlic, chopped parsley (garnishing)

Method:-

1) Heat some oil on wok. Brown the minced garlic till fragrant.

2) Add in the sliced pork/ chicken, stir fry till cook.

3) Add in kimchi and stir them well.

4) Finally add in the boiled angel’s hair pasta, stir fry it well. Add some light soya sauce for extra taste.

the outcome (not bad de wor…)  😉

Durian Cendol @ Lao Qian Ice Cafe

During my recent trip to Melaka; we had the chicken rice ball as our lunch(previous post). After the nice lunch; I suggested to Alex for a durian cendol inside the San Shu Gong building named Lao Qian Ice Cafe.

I think it belongs to San Shu Gong. San Shu Gong; is the latest landmark situated at Jonker’s Street, Melaka. If you are durian lover; you must not miss this!

Chicken Rice Ball @ HOE KEE

Alex & I were on 2 nights stay in Melaka. On the 1st day; we decided to head over to Melaka town to have the famous chicken rice ball. This restaurant is usually full when it meets any public holidays or long weekends. You will usually sees tourist queuing up in a long queue.

The rice are boiled till its cooked. When the rice is still warm, immediately they will shape them into round round, ping pong ball liked shaped. It is popular among the Hainanese. Why is it round? Here are the reason:- (source from Wikipedia)

“The rice was originally shaped into balls because it needed to be kept warm from the time it was cooked (often earlier in the day) until mealtime. The rice balls, when stored in wooden containers, apparently stayed warm for a longer time. The other theory is that the rice balls were more portable and were easier for labourers working on plantations to transport from home.”

This dish is eaten the same way as the regular version of chicken rice, making sure to get a portion of chicken, some rice and the soy and chili condiment into each mouthful.

our order

the appetizing Assam Fish – RM24

A plate of rice balls. Consists of 10pieces.  Just enough for both of us. –RM3

The rice is not too hard. Its soft yet firm. Quite tasty though.

A plate of chicken – RM9

The chicken meat is so tender. With some soy sauce on the base of the chicken, made it even tastier.

Chili sauce which MUST go along with the rice & chicken

Dinner at Cravo Cravo

Since we are staying in Philea Resort; so we decided to have our dinner there. Currently only Cravo Cravo is operating. It is located near the lobby.

It was on Sunday, therefore they won’t be serving buffet dinner. Then we opt for ala-carte.

the ambiance of the restaurant-very relaxing feel

Surprisingly we were the only couple whom had our dinner there. I guessed probably because its Sunday, many of the guest has gone home. Sounds like we have booked the entire restaurant. Isn’t that GREAT! 😀

After browsing through the menu; we decided on our order. Lets see what we’ve ordered.

Watermelon Juice – RM15++

a complimentary warm bun along with butter before the meal

Braised Fish Lip & Seafood – RM19++

(vegetable & seafood dumpling) – starter

Mediterranean Grilled Chicken – RM49++

(served with bed of baked vegetable, topped with Vietnamese Roll)

Provencale Herb Crust Lamb Rack – RM79++

(served with polenta grilled courgettes roasted garlic juice)

the above 2 photos are:-

Baked Sweet Tropical Mango in Fillo Pastry (with Ice Cream) – RM22++

had a snapshot before we left.

Braised Fish Lip & Seafood – as a starter, the soup did added appetite to me

Mediterranean Grilled Chicken – they used chicken breast, which I felt its abit dry. But the Vietnamese roll is nice.

Provencale Herb Crust Lamb Rack – the lamb ribs are tasty. If there’s extra gravy, it will add some credit to it.

Baked Sweet Tropical Mango in Fillo Pastry (with Ice Cream) – the baked mango in fillo pastry is unique. It combines well with the chocolate flavor ice cream!

Wedding Anniversary at Philea Resort & Spa

In conjunction of my wedding anniversary on 26th September; Alex and I decided for a getaway to celebrate it. Its our 1st wedding anniversary. Instead of anywhere else; somehow we got seduced by the appearance of this resort during the MATTA fair on beginning of the month. The type of stay is rarely found elsewhere in Malaysia. They were offering promo of purchase 1 night and get the 2nd night for free. Without much hesitation; we bought the room package(Pavillion Villa) inclusive breakfast for 2. Erm..which resort I’m referring to?? Its Philea Resort & Spa, Ayer Keroh, Melaka; new resort which just established this year.

It is located barely 1 minute away from the Ayer Keroh interchange of the North South Highway, 90 minutes from KLIA and 20 minutes from the City Of Melaka. It is one of the premier resorts in the country which lies in the shade of forest giants.

We started our journey & reached there at about 1.30pm. Upon checking in; we were served with wet towels & a glass of welcome drink (with the taste of lemon grass). You need not worry about the walking distance to your room even if your room is located far from the lobby. Because there are buggy service to send or fetch you.

Perhaps I shall put them all in simple sentences. I guess the photos will meant more than words!

the superb entrance

the welcome drink-a signature drink with the taste of lemon grass/serai.

I was told that they uses lemon grass/serai as their theme. Even the bath soap, shampoo or lotion has that lemon grass fragrant too.

buggy service to send us to our villa

From the moment we opened our room door; WOW…I was totally amazed with everything & the decoration they made due to our anniversary(I gave a call to the resort;few days before hand & told the staff about our celebration). Minutes later while I was  still busy taking photos; someone rang our room door bell. Alex opens the door and the staff brought in a cake with the label “WEDDING ANNIVERSARY”. I was so touched by their effort. I did not expect them to do so much. From wedding decos, rose petals to cake!

My mom made Bibimbap

My mom likes to prepare delicious food when she’s free. She likes trying out the recipes from the recipe book or food that she has tried. Last weekend was her first attempt onBibimbap. Bibimbap is a popular Korean dish. The word literally means “mixed rice.” Its kinda healthy because it contains alot of vegetable than meat & its less oil.

Since there are good response on this dish when I posted it on my Facebook; therefore I decided to share the recipe.

SAUCE:

3 tablespoon Korean chili sauce (gochujang) – can purchase from Isetan/Jusco.

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 tablespoon water

1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

MEAT TOPPING:

-Minced meat or strip meat or chicken.

-2 teaspoon light soy sauce

-freshly ground pepper to taste

-1 tablespoon oil

Marinate all the above(MEAT TOPPING) and fry till cooked.

VEGETABLE TOPPING:

-shredded kimchi (can purchase from Jusco)

-spinach(bayam) blached

-mung bean sprout/ taugeh blanced

-1 onion halved and sliced thinly

-1 carrot blanched and shredded

-1 cucumber into julienne

-8 lettuce leaves shredded

-mushroom stir fry till cook (with soy sauce, sugar & sesame oil till dry)

-sesame oil for sprinkling

GARNISHING:

-seaweed sheets shredded(optional)

-fried sunny eggs

-cooked rice

Arrange everything in order.

We do not have stone bowl. So we substitute it with a normal bowl.

Top the sunny egg above it.

Add in SAUCE. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot.

Taiwan Steamboat at “Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant”

Met up Jeanly at The Gardens on Saturday before attended Chin Hock & Ching Ching’s wedding in Mines Wellness Resort. Initially we thought of having sushi from the restaurant opposite Fong Lye. However failed to do so because we gotto wait for 15 minutes to be seated. Well; since Fong Lye is just opposite it…then I said why not lunching there, moreover Jeanly have not tried it. Its my 2nd time trying their food. Food wise I can still say it has wide range of choice, ambiance wise….don’t really like , macam pasar when its crowded, same goes to the table arrangement for 2. So close to each other…The feeling was like; “can I share your food”??  =_=

After looking through the menu; both of us were undecided on what to order. Jeanly was worrying the big portion of the food served. Therefore; I suggested why not we order a set of taiwan steamboat to share among us. We ordered a plate of fried oyster with egg.

avocado milk (RM10.80)

watermelon milk (RM7.30) – yummy!

the pot of soup for steamboat.

Consists of chunks of yam, cabbages. The soup-base is really tasty.

the ingredients for the steamboat.

special dipping sauce & tong fun

dump everything in for a boil

The steamboat price is at RM29.80.

Taiwan style fried oyster with egg (RM13.80)

The steamboat is good. However the fried oyster with egg is so so. But at least the oysters are not too small & its fresh lor….

Teochew Mooncake?

Received a box of biscuits which printed with the name of “Healthy Mooncake” from a friend whom purchased it from Bukit Pelanduk, Port Dickson. However in a box of 4; there’s only 1 piece of them is  teochew mooncake . The remaining 3, it looks rather like ‘kah lui peng’ or wedding biscuits. I assumed it might be quite popular over there kua….. =p

the box of 4

printed the address & contact number

2 big & 2 small

the smaller one – tasted like tau sah piah(mung bean filling)

the bigger one – crispy skin with moist red bean paste filling (I preferred this)

This is the teochew mooncake. The filling is alil bit salty & alil bit sweet. Contains pig’s lard, tiny pieces of winter melon, tangerine peel, shallot

Overall the taste is fine. Not too sweet either.  😉

mooncakes from YONG SHENG

Mooncake/ mid-autumn festival is just a within few days. Alex bought a box of mooncake from YONG SHENG; Taipan’s outlet. My first time heard of this name was during my wedding preparations. I was told that their ‘kah lui peng’ has nice packaging or nice gifts set. Am trying their mooncakes now. It does have unique flavors. Allow me to intro and comment each of it.  😉

the box and the reusable bag

a box of 4

containing mix fruits nuts, nyonya sambal, moonlight kiss, passion for life.

nyonya sambal mooncake

This is the best seller mooncake. Contains dried shrimp sambal with lotus paste filling. Initially I thought the combination is weird; but after tasted it….its quite nice actually.

moonlight kiss mooncake

This mooncake has purple sweet potatoes filling. I like the taste of it.

mix fruits nuts

contains alot of nuts. somehow; I don’t like it. May be cos I’m not used to the taste of it…It tasted abit like ‘kai jai peng’

passion for life

This is a very unique one. The filling of first layer is white lotus, second is ice-blended and third layer has the taste of braised pork, which I thought it was ‘mung bean’. Not bad too….
