Lunch @Hovin Coffee & Bakers, Seremban

When Hovin Coffee & Bakers formerly located at Seremban town (near Public Bank), I couldn’t get the chance to pay a visit. Reason because I rarely go to town and also due to the limited parking space over there.

Now that Hovin Coffee & Bakers has moved to this new location, it gives me the opportunity to pay a visit during lunch hour. This new location of their cafe would be nearer to my work place. Precisely, it is located opposite to Asia Laksa, Senawang. Nearby to Senawang Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC).

Hovin Coffee & Bakers is a simple cafe that offers good coffee and food at a reasonable price. Despite the price, staffs are friendly too.

Often cafes serves pasta, sandwiches. But at Hovin Coffee & Bakers, they also served rice. I’m glad they did, because I’m a rice person. 😀

I was told they have some newly added dishes which are not shown on their menu booklet. Perhaps they should have a simple printout copy showing what are their latest added dishes. I saw the lunch deal on their chalkboard written:-

I chose Curry Chicken Rice set, that come with a drumstick, curry potatoes, slices of cucumber and a bull’s eye egg topped on the rice. The curry chicken rice was delicious, I felt.

When I’m in a cafe, I would definitely prefer a cuppa coffee over juices or sodas. Therefore I requested for Hot Latte with an additional RM2 to upgrade my drink. Barista must be in a good mood today. Hence he made a nice coffee art on my drink. What does it resemble? It looked like a smiling plant.

You can also check out the counter for bake of the day. (cakes, muffins, pies)

I am delighted to know they serve Salted Egg Yolk Croissant (RM7.90) here. Look at the oozing salted egg yolk lava upon cutting the flaky and buttery croissant. It was awesome! There was also Matcha Croissant which I’m keen to try. I wonder if there’s lava in it too. 🙂

**New menu was published on October 2017.

Made another visit here and discovered their new extensive menu with more varieties of set lunch.

Buttermilk Chicken with Rice. Complete your set which includes a cup of Honey Lemon drink. But I will usually opt to upgrade my drink to coffee.

A cuppa Hot Cappuccino with a neat coffee art!

My colleague had their Grilled Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce. The food portion is quite generous compared with the price paid.

I always appreciates the fine coffee art done by the barista. Hence I would slowly sip it down without damaging it. 🙂

Japanese Buffet @Haruta, d’Tempat Country Club Seremban

I came across this promo through the Facebook page of d’Tempat Country Club.

I am a fan of Japanese food. Upon seeing such good deal, I am overwhelmed. Thus, without much hesitation, I called up to make a reservation in order to avoid disappointment. (in case of full house)

As we seated, we were given this copy of ‘made-to-order’, selection of main course which is not available at the buffet table. Each visitor is entitled for one main course, choose only 1 from the choice of 5 dishes. There were 4 of us. Therefore we were able to choose 4 types.

Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce (Shake Teriyaki)

Pan-fried salmon then glazed with a sweetened soy sauce (teriyaki).

Grilled Mackerel with Salt (Saba Shio)

This piece of grilled mackarel with salt tasted good. It was not dry nor overcooked, and the saltiness was just nice.

Fried Battered Seafood (Tempura Mori)

The tempura batter was crispy and light. Only consists of 2 prawns, a piece of mushroom and an eggplant.

Teppanyaki Style Chicken (Tori Teppanyaki)

Chicken in teppanyaki style. I felt that the chicken cutlets were too big. I preferred it to be in smaller cube, so that its easier for the meat to absorb the flavors.

For starter, there were salad with choice of dressing.

Edamame beans

Also available was Chuka Kurage (Seasoned Jellyfish) & Chuka Wakame (Seasoned Sesame Seaweed) as appetizer.

Miso Soup

Takoyaki

Round shaped, a Japanese snack made of wheat flour-based batter with a piece of octopus inside. However the filling was too little.

Move on to the sushi counter, a glimpse of the busy chef preparing sushi.

Colorful Maki-sushi (Roll Sushi)

Choice of Nigiri Sushi

My favorite Salmon Sushi.

*both Nigiri & Maki can be re-ordered.

Other than sushi, they also served fried rice. But the rice was kinda mushy I felt.

Chicken & Vegetables in Japanese Stock

As for dessert, they served slices of cakes,

cut fruits,

puddings,

japanese mochi with different fillings (red bean, peanut, black sesame, pandan). I love having Japanese mochi because I like the gooey texture.

and ice cream.

Black Sesame & Green Tea ice cream would be my favorite combination. A must have in Japanese food.

*Do take note that the desserts may varies all the time.

If you think the dishes are insufficient, here’s a list of additional add ons dishes for extra RM4 (nett) per item.

The buffet is only available on Saturday (dinner) and Sunday (lunch).

Saturday (6.30pm – 10.00pm)
Sunday (12.00pm – 3.00pm)

Although it stated “All You Can Eat Sushi”, but they served more than just sushi. Overall, I felt that paying RM38 nett for the above dishes in a Japanese restaurant is worth eating.

Margaret. T Private Dining Place @Uptown Avenue Seremban 2

Meat lovers will gonna love this place!

Put aside eateries from big city like KL. How often do you come across western food restaurant in Seremban that have pork in their menu. Quite rare isn’t it? To be honest, I love eating pork 😀 😀

I was delighted to discover Margaret. T Private Dining Place located at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2 . This new restaurant is set up by group of food enthusiast who are passionate about great food.

“We love food and would love to share the nice food we had  to people in Seremban,” said both Goh and Hayden, the important people behind this dining place.

Its not about crisp white table cloths, waiters in tuxedo. But Margaret. T Private Dining Place will ensure that the food will not let you down.

Margaret. T Private Dining Place is a casual yet classy restaurant, that emphasized on freshest ingredients, non frozen meat. Apart from that, most the meat source are from Australia. Hence, all meat are well taken care to ensure good quality meat is served.

Selections of sausages and marinated meat (pork, chicken, lamb, beef, salmon) on display. What you see here are available on the menu.

Lets begin with a protein salad, Grilled Beef Salad – RM17.90.

Grilled Australian Beef served with Baby Romaine, onion, tomato cherry, then tossed with Balsamic Dressing and garnished with Grated Parmesan Cheese.

Salmon Marooned – RM17.90

Home Cured Norwegian Salmon using Beetroot, Brandy and Lemon, served with lemon dressing, onion, tomato cherry, lettuce and finished with dash of Grated Parmesan Cheese.

It was an interesting preparation method of the salmon. I love the vibrant color of this salad. No doubt the salmon tasted fresh and so does the crispy lettuce. Both salad was a good start to our meal.

Wild Mushroom Soup – RM11.90

Prepared with Button Mushrooms, Fresh Shitake & Fresh Grey Abalone Mushroom, Onions and Leek.

Using homegrown mushrooms to prepare such rich and hearty wild mushroom soup. Not just creamy but in every spoonful is filled with mushroom bits. One of the best mushroom soup that I ever had.

Spice Roasted Pork Pasta is a fusion pasta (spaghetti). It was cooked in aglio olio method. Thus I love the combination of this pasta with roasted pork. I am so into it. 😀

Apple Glazed Pork – RM29.90

Grilled Pork Shoulder with hints of Apple Cider served with Stir Fry Vegetables and Roasted Baby Potatoes.

A cut section of the grilled pork shoulder. It was nicely grilled and the meat was tender with hint of sweetish from the apple cider.

Prime Norwegian Salmon – RM29.90

Grilled Fresh Salmon, accompanied with Stir Fry Vegetables and Baby Roasted Potatoes then finished with Homemade Japanese Unagi Sauce.

Grilled salmon tasted good on its own. It is well seasoned and not overcooked. Furthermore the salmon skin was crispy too. And I believed it requires some good skills.

Rosemary Lamb Rack

The nicely seasoned Lamb Rack was well executed. It was a delicious lamb rack with lovely pinkish tone.

Wagyu Ribeye Marble 6 – RM199

Grilled Australian Wagyu Ribeye 6 with Stir Fry Vegetables and Roasted Potatoes served with homemade sauce.

This slab of Wagyu was a starlight of the day. It was perfectly grilled. Despite tasty, the meat was tender, juicy and smooth. The marble fats create buttery like texture. It literally melts in the mouth. So yummy!

Apart from all the above, Cajun Chicken is one of the recommended dish here.

At Margaret. T Private Dining Place, there are selections of wine and liquor to compliment your meal.

Margaret. T, a place to satisfy your pork craving and it is worth checking out. Do checkout their menu of the month on their chalkboard or FB page. You may not find it on the menu. Make your reservation by calling 012-638 5967 to avoid disappointment.

Siam Siam Boat Noodle @Seremban Gateway

Siam Siam Boat Noodles located at Seremban Gateway (1st floor) , is opened since January 2017. Nevertheless it is a pork free restaurant.

Spacious dining room with air-conditioned, made a comfortable hangout place.

Boat noodles  is a Thai style noodle dish.

“Boat noodles have been served since the period of Plaek Phibunsongkhram in 1942, and were original served from boats that traversed Bangkok’s canals.

In the past, a merchant who sold boat noodles would have been the only person working on a small boat, and would have had to do everything by himself from paddle a boat, scald the noodles, season the soup, serve the dish, handle money and wash the dishes. If the bowl was too big, it would be difficult to hand over to the customer on the land and might be easily spilled. This is the reason why the boat noodle’s bowl is small, for the convenience and safety of the merchant.”

Siam Siam Boat Noodles offering you Thai Boat Noodle with a Malaysian Twist! There are 4 types of noodles for you to choose from; Bihun, Yellow Noodle, Kuey Teow, Loh She Fun. The options do not stop here. There are 4 types of soup to go with these noodles; Chicken Soup, Spicy Soup, Tom Yam Soup, Dry Curry.

These little bowl of noodles are topped with minced chicken, a fishball and sprinkled with spring onions.

It is an open kitchen concept, hence you can view the working staffs in the kitchen preparing the food.

In Thai food, I’ll make sure that Thai Iced Tea is in my order list! It is a drink that you must not miss.

We started off with something appetizing, the Papaya Salad or we called it Kerabu Betik. It is quite thoughtful of them to separate the peanuts from the salad, just in case there are people who is allergy to nuts.

Fishball Noodle in Chicken Soup is non spicy which is suitable for children.

Bihun in Spicy Soup

Kuey Teow in Tom Yam Soup

Dry Curry Noodle

My choice of soup would be dry curry, tom yam soup & spicy soup. Because I am a spicy person… I meant I like spicy food!

Krapow Gai Rice (RM11.90)

Krapow Gai Rice is a rice dish. Minced chicken, chili, onion and basil were cooked in Thai flavors. Its really a spicy and flavorful dish. Topped with a beautiful bull’s eye egg on rice.

Spicy Gai Tod (RM10.90) is another rice dish. The yellow turmeric rice complimented with curry gravy and a piece of fried chicken marinated with spices.

Chicken Wings (5pcs/RM16) were fried to perfection. Crispy skin, well marinated and tender meat.

After the savory meal, I would like to have some dessert. We started with a warm dessert which was Waffle. It is new on their menu. The waffle comes with choice of single or double scoop coconut ice cream. While the choice of topping would be Pandan Coconut, Peanut Butter, Strawberry or Chocolate. I made a choice of Peanut Butter. Because its my favorite. 😀 The waffle has a good texture and I like the thickness of it. Besides that, its is slightly crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. The warm waffle goes really well with ice cream + peanut butter. It is a lovely snack!

Mango is a common fruit in Thai food. Here we had Mango Pudding Ice Cream (RM14.90). 3 different kind of texture in one serving.

To feel a lil more refreshing on a hot afternoon, we had Mango Sago (RM7.90). Siam Siam Boat Noodles served a few types of shaved ice dessert.

Grass Jelly Sago Snow (RM5.90) is one of the favorite pick.

Oreo Snow (RM7.90)

If you like something simple, Coconut Milk Snow (RM5.90) would be a good choice. Shaved ice topped with a scoop of coconut ice cream and gula melaka glazing. There were some jellies beneath the shaved ice.

Dinner @Ticklish Ribs & ‘Wiches, The Gardens Mall

Welcome….. Oink Oink Oink.

That’s how we were greeted that night.

Last month, in conjunction to Mother’s Day celebration, I brought my mom, my sister to celebrate our Mother’s Day at Ticklish Ribs & ‘Wiches, The Gardens Mall. This is their second outlet after the first outlet at Sea Park, PJ.

To play safe, I called to make a reservation for 7pm. The dining hall was already 3/4 occupied when we arrived *phew*.
Apart from that, the dining hall is very colorful and looked interesting too.

You know you are in serious PIG mode when you noticed the whole load of pigs surrounding you…

Not forgetting the tagline; “Confirm Gila Babi” which I find it hilarious. 😀

We spent some reading time due to the extensive Menu, consist of rice, pasta, salad, sandwiches.

This place is all about pork pork pork and more pork. Bring it on, the gila babi!

We started off with the Signature BBQ Pork Ribs (Full-6 ribs) RM45. I opted for non spicy because the kids can’t take spicy.

Caramelized, tender and juicy pork ribs I got here! Even, my home *Gordon Ramsay gave an approval on this 😀

Curry Sloppy Fries RM10

Curry Sloppy Fries was really good! Very special I felt. French fries topped with rich curry minced pork sauce & melted cheese. Ohhh, so sinful….but so memorable 😀

Ham Tan (salted egg) lover = Happily Ham Sup ^_^

Salted Egg Fried Pasta (got balls) RM18

Ohh, I love balls. I meant pork balls. The al-dente pasta was nicely coated with salted egg. Not too much of salted egg but just nice. As for the pork balls, it was tasty and meaty.

Hoi Lam Ting (Rice)  RM20

There’s rice, pork cutlets, gravy (sauce), salad as side.
I’m a gravy person. I poured in the gravy and stirred it well before eating the rice. I am an Asian. I am a Tong Nasi. I definitely love rice..LOL!

Upon ordering the (Full-6pcs) ribs, we are entitled for the “Kids Eat For Free” dish. Choice of dish for the “Kids Eat for Free” was quite limited. Thus we chose Rice Vice.

The portion is of full size. It has generous gravy on rice, topped with an egg and slices of fried chicken cutlet which was tender too. Every mouthful of rice was so flavorful due to the gravy. The kids like it too.
Rice Vice look quite similar to Katsudon. I actually preferred this over Hoi Lam Ting 🙂

In conjunction to Mother’s Day, for every RM100 spent, we got a complimentary Lazy Bones Wrap. Too much food to handle, we gotto take home this wrap.

I think mom enjoyed the food here. Happy Mother’s day mummy 🙂

The face of kena forced to take photo >.<

I felt the dishes served here are quite family friendly. They have spicy, non-spicy, rice or pasta to cater for both children & the elderly. Furthermore the twist of Asian~Western flavors suited our local taste very well. Apart from that, if you dislike pork, there’s a small selection of fish & chicken dishes on the menu.

Chili Fighter @Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2

source from Chili Fighter

Chili Fighter, a new restaurant is opened at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. But what do they serve? Looking by its name, I could sensed something flaming there 😀

Let’s check it out.

The modern and sophisticated interior. Furthermore, it is cosy and air conditioned giving you the comfortability of dining experience with family and friends.

At Chili Fighter, its a whole new dining experience in Seremban. Bringing to you the Sichuan flavors all the way from China.

Where did you get the inspiration to open this restaurant in Seremban?

During my trip to China, I tasted the food there which I felt it was delicious. This is one of the popular food there. Hence it gave me the inspiration to start up one here in Seremban. I made several trips there; for the recipe, the ingredients. Apart from that, my chefs were sent there for training to ensure the flavors and taste are alike, replied Mr. Ang the owner of Chili Fighter.

A simple menu showing how to place an order.

Step 1: Select Vegetable/Meat

Step 2: Select Flavor (different types of chili flavor)

Step 3: Select the level of spiciness (super spicy, spicy, average or mild)

Although the menu is only printed in Chinese, but the staffs may assist you upon ordering.
(By the way, they are in the midst of preparing the English menu)

Ingredients are nicely arranged in trays in the refrigerator to retain its freshness.

The non-cooked ingredients are of assorted vegetables, meat & seafood.

Helen, helping herself to pick her choice of ingredients to be cook by the chef later on.

One of the staff there trying to explain to Helen, that for ingredients that are weighed above 500gram, you can choose to cook it in 2 different flavors.

Price is determined by its weight.Hence, you can see that the ingredients that we’ve picked is been weighed.
Sichuan cuisine, from Sichuan Province, is famous for its particularly “málà” numbing (麻) and spicy (è¾£)  taste resulting from liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique numbing flavor of Sichuan peppercorn.

We were recommended with the Crystal Fish (fish price varies from RM70 to RM90 depending on type of fish). Price is inclusive of ingredients as shown in photo. You may have some additional add on orders from the menu. i.e: extra lotus roots, vegetables, & etc. The fish dish portion is quite big. Above is “málà” flavor. I can take spicy food. But with ‘average spicy’ level is already sufficient to me.

So, why is it called Crystal Fish? Its called crystal fish because of the transparent like serving tray. Fish and necessary ingredients were all placed on the transparent tray then bring to boil on an induction cooker. This is cook at your dining table. Therefore you could experience the slowly simmer process.

We were also served with a different flavor called ‘Hot & Sour’ (酸辣).

When its started to boil, means its ready to dig in! 😀

check out the bright red color soup base and the amount of dried chilies. I could feel the mild numbness on my tongue. But I wanted more. Because it is very ‘shiok’. The broth was flavorsome and spicy too.

The stir fry 田雞 (“field chicken”) with lotsa onions and long beans has milder spiciness. I do like the taste of its meat. It was tasty and tender.

Remember the ingredients we’ve picked earlier? The above 2 dishes were cooked in 2 different flavors. 2 different types of chili were used.

And one of the highlight was this chili used in the above dish.

These dishes are best to be eaten with a bowl of rice.

You can’t leave without having these drinks to chill you. 😀

Can you tolerate the spiciness? Dare to challenge yourself with more spicy food at Chili Fighter?

What’s more…Chili Fighter is offering 20% discount during the Grand Opening Day on 31 May 2017 .

Dazzling Cafe @Midvalley Megamall

**This premise is no longer available. It has been take over by Tokyo Secret Cafe.

The spot of for Gardens Lifestyle Cafe has been replaced by a well known cafe originate from Taiwan.

Dazzling Cafe is the name.

As quoted by Dazzling Cafe, it has been named one of the most famous cafes in Taiwan. Hence it is commonly frequented by celebrities and socialites and has been crowned as “A Celebrity Hotspot.”

Not only famous for its media personalities, but it is also renowned for its chic and classy interior decor.

I do agree that this cafe looks elegant and classy yet trendy. I guessed it also attracts much attention from shoppers because it is located near the link bridge connecting both Midvalley Megamall and The Gardens Mall. The bunny ears chairs looked catchy.

Turquoise & Grey color decorative flowers covering the wall and handrail towards the loaf area making it a nice backdrop for photo shooting.

Dazzling Cafe also serves All Day Breakfast

There wasn’t much choice of ‘main course’ dish. I was told that the Honey Toast is good and its their popular dessert here. Hmmm….that makes me think, most likely people come here for their dessert or during tea break.

We started off with Mentaiko Spaghetti with Cream Sauce RM29.90. It is a recommended dish shown on the menu. Mentaiko is Pollock Roe, tossed in the al-dente creamy spaghetti topped with nori seaweed. A few scallops were added to it. I like the crunchy roe texture on every bite of my spaghetti.

We also ordered a set of All day Breakfast. We chose Classic Big Breakfast RM25, which consist of grilled sausage, beef bacon, baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and scrambled eggs. The big breakfast was just alright. Quite normal I felt.

For the main course, we also ordered a Oven Roasted Whole Chicken Leg RM30.90. Roasted chicken paired with garlic cream spinach, sauteed mushroom. The chicken was tasty and tender. I do like the garlic cream spinach sauce eaten with the chicken. However I find the sauce abit salty.

Last but not least, we end our meal with the signature toast, Dazzling Classic Honey Toast RM20.90. Cubes of thick toast were stacked up in 2 layers, then topped with a scoop of  Häagen-Dazs ice cream and dripping strawberry sauce. The toast was slightly warm, a lil crust on the outer layer but fluffy and soft inside. I could taste the hint butter in it too. Was the yellow creamy thing, some sort of custard? Because it tasted like custard to me. 🙂 Anyway, the toast was very nice to be eaten with ice cream.

We wrapped up the meal with a lovely group photo taken here at Dazzling Cafe.

Verdict: Dazzling Cafe has nice ambiance. A nice dining place with friends and family. Food prices are on the high side. The only thing that I would love to re-visit is for the Honey Toast.

Dine & Shop at Hello Kitty House Bangkok

Hands up if you are one of the Hello Kitty fan 🙂

Hello Kitty is an official Sanrio character. I adore Hello Kitty for its cuteness. I believed everyone has an inner child in them. hehe….

Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe at Sunway Pyramid, I didn’t get the chance to visit. But during my recent travel to Bangkok, I tried to insert Hello Kitty House into my itinerary. There are many theme cafes at Bangkok now.

I was told that Hello Kitty House Bangkok is a cafe cum shop cum spa place.

Hello Kitty House is opened at Siam Square One. It is a multi storey building located along a busy road. Besides that, it is strategically located near BTS Siam Station. Its just a walking distance.

Jeng jeng jeng….we were here at Hello Kitty House Bangkok for a tea break.

The dining hall is furnished with pink pastal color chairs, walls and warm lighting making it looked so sweet & lovely.

The staff lead us to our seats. But as soon as I sat down and quickly placed an order, I couldn’t stop taking photos. LOL! Every angle and corners are worth taking photos. Its just too lovely.

Assorted cakes of the day were displayed here.

I also went upstairs. As I walked up the bright white color staircase leading up to the following floor ………………

I reached the upper floor which look grandeur and romantic! The upper floor is much brighter due to the tall windows surrounding the hall.

Apart from that, the chairs, the windows…..all are of Hello Kitty. Literally melts. I wonder if anyone throw a wedding reception here. Feels so romantic lar.

Hello Kitty & Dear Daniel ♥

The colorful menu.

I ordered the sandwich set which comes with a drink for 250 baht.

Ham & Cheese Kitty Sandwich

For drink, I chose Hot Chocolate with a kitty face. Aiyohh….how to drink la….must admire kao kao first before damaging it.

My friend chose the Hello Kitty Tumbler set for 399 baht from the monthly promo. I assumed the monthly promo may varies each month. The set comes with a Fries, a drink filled in the hello kitty tumbler. There were choice of 3 designs.

the cute tumbler that filled with Iced Milk Tea.

Everything is about Hello Kitty here…even the theme song that is constantly repeating, I could still remember and hum the song. Tell me about it…I know it can be annoying to some people. 😀

More posing 😀

After done with our light tea break & photo taking, we went downstairs at lower ground floor for more hello kitty merchandises.

very nice to see, but not so nice for my wallet. Because the prices were not cheap…moreover with out poor currency 😦

This is a very nice place even if you are not a hello kitty fan. Furthermore, I think this place is meant to attract girls… 😀 😀 😀 mainly for the ambiance and the hello kitty character…but not really about the food. Hello Kitty is main, food is secondary.

Arabic Food at Restoran Belqis, Centrio Seremban 2

Recently, I had a good introduction of Arabian food at Restoran Belqis. Honestly, it was my first experience of trying out Arabic food.

To give you a clearer picture of Arabic food, the Arabic food is mainly a combination of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Indian food. It has been affected by the mingling of Arab and non-Arabs over the centuries.

The common herbs and spices used in Arabic food are; sesame, saffron, black pepper, allspice, turmeric, garlic, cumin, cinnamon, parsley and coriander. While for meat, chicken or lamb are used in most of the dishes.

Restoran Belqis is located at Centrio, Seremban 2 next to Soong Sisters Boutique. This restaurant is facing the main road.

A leftlet printed with their specialty dishes.

Chefs and servers are of Yemeni, offering you an authentic Arabic food.

Nothing too fancy but simple decorations with lamps and wall arts also the Arabian music played on background…you are definitely sure the purpose of you here. 😀

We started off with Hot Arabic Tea, one of the favorite hot tea in Arabic cuisine. It is black tea brewed with cardamom, clove and mint. If you like the milk tea version, then evaporated milk and cube sugar will be added to it.

Tabbouleh

is a vegetarian dish/salad made with finely chopped tomatoes, parsley and onions, seasoned with lime juice and olive oil.

Mix Grill

A combination of lamb shish kebab and chicken kebab, served with fries and greens. As for the dipping sauce, chili sauce and garlic cream sauce were given.

Shish kebab is a dish consisting of small cubes of meat or fish threaded on a skewer and grilled.

Salta

Salta is considered the national dish of Yemen.

The base is a brown meat stew called maraq, a dollop of fenugreek froth, and sahawiq or sahowqa (a mixture of chillies, tomatoes, garlic, and herbs ground into a salsa). Rice, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and vegetables are common additions to salta. It is eaten traditionally with Yemeni flat bread, which serves as a utensil to scoop up the food.

You are required to stir the dish before eating. The above is the result of after stirring. Now you can use their signature flat bread to scoop them up and eaten with it.

I must say that the combination was awesome! The thin and lightly crisp buttery flatbread goes perfectly with the salta.

Yemeni flatbread is eaten with bean dishes, scrambled eggs, and many other Yemeni savory dishes. It is made much like pizza dough with water, yeast, salt, and flour. Then, it is kneaded very well and set to rise and later cut to large rounds. Each round is then stretched, and warm ghee is spread over the stretched dough, it is folded over and more ghee is applied, and this process is repeated 1-3 times. All sides are pinched together to form a neat ball. After a few minutes of sitting, the round is stretched into a flat circular shape and placed on a makhbaza that is used in placing the dough on the wall of a hot taboon much like the tandoor. It is then glazed with  ghee and baked until the bottom is brown and with some browning on top.

Ta Daa…this rice platter was star of the day. Sufficient to serve a family or a group of friends. Combination of 4 different kind of rice.

Hanith Chicken/Lamb – is a type of dish where the lamb or chicken are wrapped in an aluminium foil with Arabian spices.

Kabsa Chicken/Lamb – is a type of rice which is served with chicken or lamb that are boiled using Arabian spices.

The rice was fluffy and not oily. It can be eaten with the light curry gravy or the rather appetizing (parsley+onion+tomatoes+olive oil+lime juice) gravy.

Hanith Lamb

Hanith dish can be served with any type of rice but preferable with mandhi rice. Hence, Mandhi is a traditional dish from Yemen. Mandhi is usually made from basmati rice, meat (lamb or chicken), and a mixture of spices. The meat used is usually a young and small sized lamb to enhance the taste further.

So, its a Yay or Nay? Why not pay a visit and determine it yourself. 🙂
