Lunch @Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant, Midvalley Megamall

Annyeonghaseyo.

Jai Jinesseyo.

~translated as “Hello. How are you?”

I like eating Korean food. Especially Kimchi! Also the irresistible Kimchi Jigae. Just like how much I can’t say no to Tom Yam soup 😉

I thought its a good buy when I saw livingsocial was offering;

Dolsot Bibimbab (6 choices) + 3 Side Dishes + Free Flow Green Tea

for just RM10.

I grabbed 5 coupons and went together with my family over the weekend.

Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant is located at the 3rd floor of Midvalley Megamall- the cinema floor. There’s a staircase to walk up to the restaurant which is above Taiwan Recipe.

I also noticed part of the customers here were redeeming their coupon. I suppose its a good deal that you should not miss?

There were 6 choices of bibimbap(stone pot mixed rice) for us to choose from.

– Fried Beef
– Spicy Octopus
– Kimchi Chicken
– Spicy Squid
– Curry Chicken
– Curry Beef

Refillable iced green tea to quench your thirst before food is served.

I chose Kimchi Chicken Bibimbap. Korean rice served in hot stone topped with lettuce, generous amount of kimchi chicken and a beautiful sunny yolk.

3 side dishes varies daily. We got here were kimchi, water crest vegetable and radish.

This is what it look after mixing everything in the bowl. The hot stone bowl able to keep my rice warm till my last spoon. I would prefer it to be spicier…more hot sauce perhaps. hehe…..

Mummy and Marcus had Curry Chicken Bibimbap. The curry taste wasn’t tad strong..and its not spicy either. If you can’t take spicy food….no worries about their curry chicken 😉

Alex had their Curry Beef Bibimbap. The beef were thinly slice. Not tough but tasty.

Stirring the ingredients thoroughly before eating.

Michele had Spicy Octopus Bibimbap. Becos octopus is her favorite! 😉

I also added an additional Grilled Pork Platter (RM39.90). I asked the waiter to do the grilling job. hehe…..

How to eat these grilled pork? Wrapped with fresh lettuce leaves, with rice, thinly sliced garlic, ssamjang (a mixture of gochujang and dwenjang).

Whole table filled with food!!

Verdict : Overall a decent and satisfied Korean food. The only downside I felt was the restaurant abit cramp and warm.

Worth To Try Lou Shu Fun @Restoran Yi Poh, Seremban

I love lou shu fun.

I miss having lou shu fun.

Lou shu fun is my all time favorite.

*pause* I feel as though I’m describing my new boyfriend.

Please dun tell Alex about this BF. Hurmm….but I think Alex also love my bf. I’ve influenced him. LOL!

Perhaps some of you may not know what is lou shun fun.

Some people call it rat noodle.  I often call it ‘mee tikus’. I’ve just discovered an English name for lou shu fun. Eventually Wikipedia says..lou shu fun is call ‘Silver Needle Noodle’. Errrmmm….. what a name!

Seremban people like having lou shu fun. You can easily order lou shu fun at any noodle stall. Unlike in KL…most of the time they will tell me they don’t have lou shu fun. *sigh*

Friends who came over, I’ll bring them to Restoran Yi Poh. Needless to go over to the wet market although its nice and cheap…but I don’t want my friends to get disappointed because its often sold out early. (sometimes before 11am)

At Restoran Yi Poh I can have a better dining environment and most important is that the operating hours is till late noon. One can choose to dine in an air conditioned room or a non air-conditioned room.

2013-03-23 12.53.55

Simple 1 page menu. Other than their signature lou shu fun, they also serve other type of noodles as well.

2013-03-23 12.57.05

Yi Poh Lou Shu Fun – RM4.00 (S). Topped with generous minced pork and some pork slices. Stir the noodle before eating. Each strand of noodle will be coated with dark soya sauce and minced pork. What makes Yi Poh lou shu fun special is the spicy chili sambal, I guess.

Some said its similar to the noodle we had for assam laksa what..Hurmm…I think you’ll gotto try it yourself, then you’ll know the difference. *in terms of texture*

2013-03-23 12.56.40

Dislike lou shu fun, you can also try Hakka Mee – RM4.00(S). I would say their Hakka Mee is not as nice as Tow Kee’s Hakka Mee.

2013-03-23 12.57.58

Additional side order. Pork Balls (RM0.60/pc) are my favorite. Huge, bouncy and firm meat ball. Served with peppery soup.

2013-03-23 13.10.53

All wipe out! 😀

I heard that their wantan mee is quite good too. Tourist can conveniently shop for Seremban siew pao by just crossing the road. “Asia Siew Pau” is located just opposite. Freshly baked siew pao and other pastries can be purchase there. However I find that the siew pao quality at “Asia Siew Pau” are not really consistent. Sometimes nice sometimes not so nice. So far, I preferred the siew pao at Kampung Baru Rasah.

Good Food + Good Companion @T.G.I. Friday’s, Sunway Pyramid

Do you agree that good food and good companion are equally important?

I actually knew this group of friends since year 2008 through a wedding forum. Never expect we could maintain the friendship from virtual friends to good friends. Not forgetting Nicole and Vivian..just that we hardly get together at the same time.

It is not just friendship between both Ashley and Wanyi….we also get our HB to involve. Never expect our HBs can get along well too. Nevertheless, we even went for overseas trip together. Despite the hectic life…we still make some effort to have dinner or sometimes to a short trip.

On our recent meeting, we actually planned to have dinner at Itallianiese. Unfortunately Itallianiese at Sunway Pyramid has moved its business to Paradigm Mall. Therefore we had to make a sudden change of venue. With agreement from everyone, we then decided to go to T.G.I. Friday’s. Guess many of you are already familiar with T.G.I. Friday’s. 😉

The dining area.

I like how they deco the wall, with vintage stuffs.

From Left: Strawberry Lemonade Slush (RM10.90), Green Apple Slush (RM10.90), Blue Raspberry Slush (RM10.90), Cranberry Fizz (RM8.90).

All the above drinks are cold and refreshing!

They are currently having this promo of 2 course meal for RM29.90. Consist of an appetizer and a main course. *selected choice as above*. I find this a good deal. Therefore we decided to order 2 sets of this.

Appetizer A:- Fried Mozzarella (Mozzarella cheese coated in special Italian-style breading, deep fried and served with rich marinara sauce.)

Appetizer B:- Bruschetta (Toasted garlic butter Ciabatta bread topped with garlic and fresh roma tomato-basil salsa and drizzled with balsamic glaze).

Main Course A:- Chicken Fingers (Hand battered chicken tenders, golden fried and served with crispy fries and honey mustard for dipping.) The crispy battered chicken fingers are nice, the meat are tender and not dry too.

Main Course B:- Key West Whitefish (A roasted mild whitefish topped with sparkling citrus splash, served with seasonal vegetables and herb rice). Among the rest, I actually like this the most. The fish fillet was fresh, the gravy was tasty and the rice was flavorful.

Garlic Spaghetti Vegetali (add Blackened Cajun Shrimp) – RM26.90.

Spaghetti gently tossed with extra virgin oil, fresh broccoli, tomatoes, garlic, basil, Parmesan  cheese and garnished with crispy basil leaf.

Tossed Tomato Basil Chicken (RM27.90)

Sliced, chargrilled chicken breast served over linguine pasta tossed in a fresh tomato basil salsa. Garnished with zesty Balsamic glaze.

Honestly, I felt that both pastas we had here were just average. Nothing great.

Additional side order of Buffalo Wings. Juicy and succulent chicken wings were finger licking good!

Good Food + Good Companion = Good Day! ^_^

Myself, Ashley & Wanyi.

Abel was the star of the day. *center of attention*

Everyone was taking turn to carry him.

*dessert at Hui Lau Shan* Hhmmm….Abel will going to be a foodie soon. HAHA!

Wednesday is Pink Day @Baskin Robbins

Jom come in PINK and get special offer at Baskin Robbins Ice Cream. 😉

It was on Wednesday, when we decided to eat out…(we had Subway sandwich for dinner ^^)…Then I got this sudden urge of eating ice cream. I also remember the PINK Day campaign! So, I asked Alex whether can we go for Baskin Robbins ice cream later? Alex said wokay….yay!

They’ve now come out with new offer for Wednesday.

promo-big05a

The PINK Day offer. Why Pink? Because that’s Baskin Robbins color! 😉

baskin robinShow them anything in pink and you’ll be entitle to the pink day offer. I was kiasu…so, I have my pink skirt, pink handbag…and not forgetting my pink wallet too. LOL!

2013-03-27 22.00.51

Assorted flavors….I better make my quick decision. Because there were quite a number of customers.

2013-03-27 21.59.14

I was quite annoyed with this family in front of me. They took so long to place their orders. Simply because they were busy sampling most of the flavors before deciding which to choose. Hello….I know you can sample the ice cream lar…but please be considerate abit also…there are many people queuing behind one leh… *duhhh

2013-03-27 22.11.32

Happy 8 is new on their pink day offer. You can choose either waffle cone or waffle bowl. You can have 8 mini scoops of ice cream from different flavors. 4 flavors (Jamoca Almond Fudge, World Class Chocolate, Very Berry Strawberry) are already fixed by them…so, actually you’ll only get to choose another 4 flavors of your choice.

Each scoop is quite small…about 3-4cm in diameter. But you can try many flavors in a cup lor…Moreover the waffle is fresh and crunchy oso.

I wanted to add caramel sauce topping…..I asked the staff how much should I top up? She said add RM2.80..I thought its kinda expensive. So, forget it la..

2013-03-27 22.11.58

Very Berry Strawberry has bits of strawberry…very nice.

But I’m in love with Peanut Butter Chocolate, because I’m a fan of both peanut butter and chocolate. 😉

2013-03-27 22.24.52

I wanna ask Alex…whether can we come again next week…hehe…

Dinner @Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw, SS15 Subang Jaya

With saving up to 52%, I get to enjoy Single Beef Baconizer and Single Chicken Turkeynizer for just RM5! What a steal. Thanks to the discounted deal on Living Social. I’ve heard about people giving positive reviews on their burger. Therefore this is a good chance to join in the  burger craze. Currently there are 7 outlets in Klang Valley.

Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw founded in April 2011 by two young Malaysian entrepreneurs, Mohd Faizul Baharudin and Nini Haznita Muhammad.

20130310_201031

The main branch is located at Seksyen 2, Wangsa Maju. At SS15, it is the only Diner Restaurant. While the other 6 outlets are just burger stall or street kiosk.

20130310_201445

Just like other fast food joints…self service. But this is slightly different. You place and pay your order. Get your number, as printed on the receipt and wait for your number to be call. Although there were many customers, but we did not wait too long for our food to be ready. Ermm….if I’m not mistaken, it was not more than 15minutes. Its an open kitchen..you can probably watch how they prepare the burgers. Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw claimed making homemade patty by themselves and not the frozen patty sold in the supermarkets. So, I assumed the freshness is there.

20130310_201829

Add on soft drinks

20130310_201840

And also fries with cheesy cream + mayonnaise.

20130310_201904

Alex had Single Beef Baconizer. Alex said the beef patty was good.

20130310_201945

I had Single Chicken Turkeynizer. I like my burger. Thick, crispy and succulent fried chicken fillet with turkey slice, lettuce, a slice of cheese and dressing. Ohh ya, the bread was not dry too.

20130310_202021I felt the burger here are quite good. Judging the portion, I would say the price is not expensive. A single patty is more than enough for me. Really full after eating together with the fries and a drink.

20130310_202727

Eat burger is more shiok to hold with both of your hands right. But how to handle big stack burger? I don’t want to open my mouth as huge as an alligator or getting messy. Do share your way of eating burger 😉

Mr. Roti Canai @Putra Heights, Subang

Been staying here for more than a year also didn’t know about this place.

Until one day, when having a chat with Shaun of Simple Life he then told me about this place, Mr. Roti Canai. Claiming the roti canai is good. He also said its located very near to where I live. True indeed…it only took about 5 minutes drive there.

So, I passed the words to Alex and suggested to go there for dinner.

The outlook of its building. Hmmm….the company logo kinda look alike PappaRich. hehe…..

Mr

From Left:- Ice Honey Lemon (RM3), Teh Tarik (2.20),

Milo Tarik (3.80)

The teh tarik was quite good. Smooth and has good taste of tea & milk. Moreover it comes in a big glass.

The Interior. Looks clean.

2013-03-14 20.31.37

Come here of course must try their signature roti canai. Therefore I made my right choice to order Mr. Roti Canai Float – RM4.60. Comes with roti banjir, dhall curry, sambal and 2nos. of Omega soft boiled egg.

2013-03-14 20.32.10Sinfully good! A new way of eating roti canai.

2013-03-14 20.35.26

Mee Hoon Goreng – RM6.80

2013-03-14 20.33.15Mamak Mee Goreng – RM6.80, tasted better then the mee hoon goreng.

Other then roti canai, they also serve other food like nasi lemak, nasi briyani and nasi kandar. Have not tried others…but I think I still prefer the roti canai from a mamak stall. hehe….

McCafe is now available in Seremban!

Yippie! Good news for the Seremban folks. The long awaiting McCafe is now available in Seremban. Ok lar…I know I’m the eagerly waiting one. LOL!

Currently there’s only 1 McCafe in Seremban. It is only 1 week old. Located at Tesco Seremban 2.

So far I only visited McCafe once, when it was newly opened in KL.

At McCafe you can enjoy assorted coffee with an affordable price. I meant comparing to other branded* coffee outlets. ^_^

What is McCafe?

McCafe is a coffee-house-style food and drink chain, owned by McDonald’s.

McDonald at Tesco Seremban 2 is quite spacious. Now, they have allocate this section into McCafe.

You’ll probably like to check out the price before placing your order.

For hot drinks, there are 3 sizes. Small, Regular & Large.

Cakes and muffins for you to pair with your drinks.

Mummy had Americano (Regular) – RM5.50. She claimed the coffee is nice.

I had Flat White (Regular) – RM5.50. I also added some chocolate powder and vanilla powder onto my drink. Hehe….the chocolate & vanilla powder are available at counter. You may add as much as you like. I like my cuppa Flat White too. 😉

Marcus had Iced Mocha (Regular) – RM6.50. It looks like 3 layers tea. LOL! It tasted good also…

I was tempted to order the Chocolate Lava Cake – RM7.50.

Check out the oozing runny chocolate from the cake. OMG! My cake is flooded with chocolate! Me likey* The chocolate cake was warm & moist too.

Satisfying coffee fix of the day. (No regrets)

*Dunno why my face look so swollen here =_=

Curious on this equation. Hot drink + Happy face = Time??

Dinner @ F4 Fish Head Restaurant, USJ

When come to choose Big Fry (Tai Chow) near my staying place… Alex often suggest F4 Fish Head Restaurant, USJ. Came here several times with our family members. I would say the location of this restaurant is quite hidden. Somewhere in between the industrial area. The restaurant is quite spacious and draw alot of crowd during peak hours. (ie: dinner).

The other day, Alex’s brothers and cousin were in KL. So, we decided to come here for dinner.

I have no idea why isit named F4. I only know the Taiwanese F4 group singer which has expired 😀

Although its not air conditioned, with the numbers of hanging fans…you won’t feel warm also lar…

20130313_211115

We wanted a tofu dish…and this was recommended by the staff who took our order. Claimed as Volcano Tofu. Unfortunately I did not see any volcano eruption. LOL! Firm tofu blocks..but its not hard. But I felt its just an average dish.

20130313_211137Pork Belly with Salted Fish.

Not much of fats…which is a good thing! haha….I would prefer if they added more salted fish. The taste of salted fish was quite mild.

20130313_211200Ku Lou Yuk (Sweet & Sour Pork).

This was good! The deep fried pork were crispy and its not dry. Poured over sweet & sour sauce with condiments like tomato, bell pepper and onions.

20130313_211628A meal will not complete without vege. Therefore we ordered a plate of Stir-fry Choy Tarm with Garlic.

20130313_211721Come here of course must order fish. This was the highlight of the night. Steamed Assam Tilapia! I hardly see the fish. Because it was soaking with tasty and rich assam gravy. It is spicy and sourish with some long beans, cabbage and lady’s finger. Really appetizing to eat with rice. While the talapia was fresh too.

Other dishes may not be all good, but I must say that I am quite satisfied with their fish dish on my visits. Another type of steamed fish that I felt good is “Yin Yang Tilapia”. The fish is steamed. They made them into 2 different types of flavor. 1/2 is topped with garlic and generous amount of ginger sauce. And the other 1/2 side is poured with tauchu sauce. Our total damage for the above meal was RM107 with total 6 eaters. Yay or Nay?

Dinner @The Carpenter’s Daughter~Artisan Bakery & Cafe~ Taipan USJ

Know about this place when Sean of Eat Drink KL wrote a review on it.

But until today only I got the chance to ajak my friends to dinner together there.

The name of this place doesn’t make me think its an eatery. The other day when I mentioned about this place to another friend who works nearby…she initially thought its a workshop or anything to do with carpentery works. Perhaps an ID centre. LOL!!

The Carpenter’s Daughter~Artisan Bakery & Cafe not just selling bakery (breads & cakes). They also served Western & Asian food.

The Carpenter’s Daughter~Artisan Bakery & Cafe was first established as a home-based baking in 2008. Then started its operation on August 2011. True enough that the owner is indeed a carpenter’s daughter. While their bread claimed as using 100% certified organic whole wheat and unbleached flour and other natural ingredients without preservatives. That’s very healthy!

The cosy room.

20130218_204607

There were total 4 of us. So we were recommended to take the “Family Set”. Its for 4 person. Only available from 6 – 8.45pm.

Family Set comes with:-

  • 9″ Pizza (selected choice. Seafood is not allowed)
  • 4 bowls of soup.
  • 2 nos. Pastas
  • Potato Lover
  • 4 glass of drinks.

20130218_204645

I like their Minestrone. It has rich tomato flavors…together with some other vege. I find it really appetizing!

20130218_205058The Mushroom Soup is full of mushroom goodness.

20130218_205444

Carbonara Al Funghi, creamy spaghetti cooked together with 3 types of mushrooms.

20130218_205525

Bolognese Chicken has generous amount of meat and sauce.

20130218_205344

Homemade Pizza was delicious. *sorry I can’t recall the name”

20130218_205659

The dough is not hard and not too thick. Look at the cheesy topping covering the pizza’s ingredients.

20130218_210321

For Potato Lover, we chose Mashed Potato. The mashed potato is very smooth. While the gravy tasted good with the mashed potato. Often eaten outside usually quite salty and has alot of MSG taste. You won’t feel that on their mashed potato.

20130218_203951

My friend commented that their Lemon Meringue is good. May be I should drop by someday to dapao it. Before leaving..I bought some buns for my breakfast.

Looking for some healthy food..you may drop by The Carpenter’s Daughter Artisan Bakery Cafe. The food here aren’t too salty, yet filled with rich flavors. Bear in mind..if you come here on weekdays, the kitchen closed at 8.45pm. So come before that time.

Below Expectation @Yamagoya Ramen, Setiawalk Puchong

When Yamagoya Ramen newly arrived in Klang Valley, I heard so much of their publicity through radio advertising. Since we were at Setiawalk Puchong, so Alex and I decided to give it a try. Understand that ever since Setiawalk implemented a parking fee, there are lots of complains about the jam towards the parking entrance. I hope they could do something on this.

20130217_183428You will be greeted by the friendly staffs as you enter their restaurant.

20130217_183023The 1 full page of ramen. Like not many choices hor….

20130217_183351My order; Yamagoya Ramen – RM19.

20130217_183545Not quite good. I was expecting it to taste as good as Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Thin ramen while the broth….don’t you think its quite oily? You may find the broth is very rich and tasty on 1st few sip…later on feel ‘jelak’. However the slices Pork Char Siu are quite nice.

20130217_183407

Alex chose Spicy Tobanjan Ramen – RM22.

I felt that Alex’s ramen taste the same like mine. The only difference is that..he has additional chili paste.

20130217_183954After adding the chili paste into the ramen. *looks so oily* @_@

I did not bother to add on. Because I felt that Soy Sauce Egg for RM4 is quite pricey.

Wasn’t sure if we made the right order. But the ramen failed to impress me.

*Strictly based on my individual taste*
