Yummy Spaghetti @ The Vanilla Place, Empire Shopping Gallery

Spaghetti / Sandwich + Ice Cream + Drinks at The Vanilla Place, Empire Shopping Gallery for 2 (RM29)

Yea..I redeemed another deal from Groupon.

I almost forgot that I have not redeem this coupon, which was about to expire. hehe….Therefore, I was kinda last minute lor. It was so difficult for me to make a reservation even it is for just 2 person. (weekday also full, dinner also full, lunch full jugak..) Finally manage to get a vacant slot for us on the last day of redemption. *Phew…

This is the section for Groupon users. I sat where you can see the guy in red is. (I can peek at what’s cooking at the stove which is just next to me). I saw their spaghetti comes in individual packs. ^^

We were able to choose either sandwich or spaghetti. So, Alex and I chose spaghetti. The menu is quite simple. But the choice of spaghetti is quite many too.

Alex chose Spaghetti Carbonara. Nicely cooked spaghetti with creamy sauce topped with slices of mushrooms and turkey.

I chose Spaghetti Seafood Pesto. I have no complain on my spaghetti. Love the flavorful sauce that they use to cook it. Moreover the seafood is quite fresh too! Yuummmm….(highly recommended!)

For drinks, we were served wit Ice Lemon Tea. Then after meal, each of us got a scope of vanilla ice cream. My friend said  their salad is good. But I hardly order salad outside ^_^

Anyway there’s still some unfilled space in my stomach that I wish to eat cake. 😀

Then, I head over to Whisk. Whisk is popular for its coffee and also cakes.

A Classic Look  cafe!

It was at night, so I dare not try coffee. Because if I would to take coffee at night..then for sure I will stay up and wide awake like ‘owl’!  hahaha….

Though there wasn’t much choice of cakes left…but I would love to try their Red Velvet cake.

Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting for RM11.90/ slice. The cake texture is quite moist with a lil crumbles. But its okay..no problem. Not over-sweetened but I would prefer if it has thicker layer of  cream cheese frosting.  (Rating 7/10)

Lunch @ Coffee Chemistry Signature, First Subang Mall

2-Course Western Meal: Grilled Salmon Steak, Classic Roasted Lamb Shoulder, OR More + Dessert at Coffee Chemistry Signature, First Subang Mall for 2 (RM39).

Managed to grab this deal from Groupon.

Alex and I decided to redeem the coupon to settle our lunch.

Coffee Chemistry Signature is available at First Subang Mall since January 2011. If I’m not mistaken, before this..they were located at Sunway Giza.

Since their name come with the word ‘Coffee’, so I assume they served good quality coffee. And I also read several positive reviews about their coffee.

This deal does not come with drinks. Therefore we browse through the menu serving varieties of fusion food and drinks, we ordered a drink for ourselves.

At the entrance of Coffee Chemistry Signature.

Its quite obvious as you come up from the escalator. Its on your right hand side.

Counter where barristers prepares the drinks.

I noticed that their ceiling is quite nice, with decorative lights.

♥ with love

Alex ordered Ice Lemon Tea. The ice lemon tea that I usually order has strong tea taste but lack of lemon taste. Eventually, over here its the other way round. Not much of tea taste, but strong flavors of lemon. Which I think its not bad also la…

I ordered a cuppa Cafe’ Mocha – RM8.50 for myself. Rich and aromatic drink with nice coffee art.

Happily admiring my drink. But feel so ‘sayang’ to damage the art…. @_@

For the main course, there were total of 5 choices applicable for Groupon user.

I chose Grilled Salmon Steak, served with mashed potato and vegetables. The yellow gravy that you saw on plate is not oil but its maltaise sauce. Good match with the salmon. Unfortunately I felt that my salmon is slightly overcooked. But I do like their mashed potato. Very smooth and buttery.

Alex chose Grilled Chicken Chop served with homemade mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables. I like the mushroom sauce but not the chicken. I find it slightly overcooked as well. Because the meat is abit dry.

For dessert, it comes with Brownie in ice cream. The brownie is warm and moist. It tasted great together with vanilla ice cream.

And Affogato. Espresso topped with vanilla ice cream. This is absolutely good for coffee lovers. Rich flavors which gives you the ‘umhhppp’!!

Verdict : I would love to return for their coffee! ^_^

Dinner @ Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant, Empire Shopping Gallery

Last month, during our Anniversary, Alex and I decided to have some Japanese food as a simple dinner celebration. We chose Rakuzen because my 1st experience at Rakuzen, GTower was good. Unfortunately the other day, Ashley was telling me her recent visits to Rakuzen, GTower, the food were lousy. Food arrived cold and service was poor. *Sigh* Why can’t something good maintain its quality and whatsoever?

There are total of 7 Rakuzen outlets over Klang Valley.

This time we went to the Rakuzen located at Empire Shopping Gallery. We were there at around 8+pm. To my surprise the place is already quite crowded. I never expect it could be so many people even on weekdays.  We did not make any reservation, therefore no nice feng sui seats T_T

How can Japanese food go without wasabi??

Ebi Tempura – RM26

Crispy battered tempura prawn. Prawns were fresh and crunchy.

Uhhh…my favorite dish of all!! Plate of fresh sashimi at RM60

Couldn’t find any fault on this plate of Stamina Maki – RM38. Sushi roll with thick slices of tasty unagi.

Wanna share some sushi? 😀

Collagen Nabe (S) – RM30

Hot pot using miso soup base. Fresh ingredients are vegetables, enoki mushroom, tofu, udon and oysters. The oysters were good and soup was tasty as well.

Alex is quite a rice person. So we ordered a bowl of Garlic Rice – RM9. This garlic rice is quite normal.

Alex said Shishamo at Rakuzen is good. So we ordered a plate of Shishamo which comes in 3pcs for RM10.

I then conclude my meal with a cuppa Yuzu Sherbet – RM6. The icy cold dessert is refreshing to have after meal. Moreover yuzu is citrus..it helps to digest my food so that I can eat another round ^_^

Dinner @ Yun Long Seafood Restaurant, Hoon Leong Temple, PD

The other day when I was in Port Dickson (PD), I decided to settle my dinner together with my family there. At PD, there are several seafood restaurants. However, I still couldn’t find a restaurant serving impressive seafood in PD. To me, they are just average.

Hence, Yun Long Seafood Restaurant is easily sighted. It is located just in front of Hoon Leong Temple. Hoon Leong Temple is located along the 7th mile of the Port Dickson coastal road, just opposite the PD World Marina Resort. This Chinese temple, with its opulent architecture and imposing fortress walls, is hard to miss at left along the main road, if coming south towards Malacca from PD town. The temple name means ‘Dragon of the Clouds’, but it pays homage to several oriental deities, including Kuan Yi (goddess of mercy) and the Monkey King.

If you understands Chinese character…do read this blog for more story.

“Hoon Leong Temple.”

Yun Long Seafood Restaurant is located in front of Hoon Leong Temple. Which is pretty visible at the roundabout.

It was quite vacant when we arrived there at about 6.30pm.

Japanese Tofu with Minced Pork – RM10

Kung Pou Chicken – RM15

Siong Tong Lala – RM15

Stir Fry Kailan – RM8

Hot Pot Seafood – RM60 (small)

Delicious and tasty soup base with hint of spiciness from dried chili. Filled with 1 whole crab, prawns, fish fillet, squids and some fried beancurd.

Hot Pot Seafood is to be eaten together with cooked vermicelli and bean sprout. Feel like I’m eating Laksa. So yummy!

Verdict : Reasonable price. Hot Pot Seafood is highly recommended. While the rest were just normal.

Dinner @Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Kawan, Temiang Seremban

When Baby Sumo blogged about What to do / eat in Seremban, there is this particular food which I thought “I MUST go there soon”! I’ve heard about this place. I’ve heard about how good the business is. I’ve heard people saying you gotto be there early.

This makan place is popular for its porridge and ‘pak cham kai’. It has been a long time business. Before they moved to this new place (current location), I remember when I was younger, my dad used to bring us there for supper. Will usually order their ‘G Jarp Juk’ & ‘Pak Cham Kai’. Can’t imagine its still good as before.

The shop opens at 6pm. I went together with Alex & Marcus. We reached there at 7pm. The tables are already fully occupied. And also a long queue, customers queuing to ‘dapao’. So, I stand and waited for a vacant table.

Cooked chicken and pig’s innards are hung there. The kitchen is so busy. Bowls after bowls of porridge were served. Freshly cooked chicken were brought out so many rounds. I see that uncle non stop chopping those chickens. Dunno whether sleeping time also will dream about chicken or not. LOL!

Ordered the refreshing ‘Calamansi + Assam Boi Juice’.

Waited 10 minutes to get a seat. Drinks were served quite fast. Waited 5 minutes to take our order. Waited 20 minutes for our food to be served.  >.<

‘Pak Cham Kai’ – RM26 (1/2 chick)

The chicken meat is really smooth and tender. (okay, I’m drooling while writing now…..my apology) =p

*closer view*

G-Jarp Juk (Pork Innards porridge)

So sorry, I couldn’t remember whether its RM4 or RM4.50. But its still cheap, judging from the generous amount of ingredients hidden in the bowl of porridge. Moreover the porridge is smooth too. Add some sesame oil and pepper. Or use the gravy from the chicken to drizzle on the porridge. Lagi best!

Some of the fried intestines. Hubby who hardly take pig’s innards also find this acceptable. And he said, next time we come again ^_^

Their Fish Porridge(Sang Yu Juk) also is quite popular. Do come early if you don’t want to get disappointed. Sometimes it sold out at 8+pm.

Before go home, bought some freshly baked ‘siew pau’ and egg tarts from Kee Mei Siew Pau. Located just next door.

Remark: This restaurant has moved to Templer (opposite Caltex petrol station) with a new name of “Restoran Seremban Chicken Porridge”. Thank you.

Dinner @ Seoul Palace Korean BBQ, The 19 USJ CITY MALL

Redeemed a deal which I purchased earlier through Groupon.

A deal which consist of :-

Korean BBQ Pork / Chicken Set Meal. Includes Kimchi Jjigae + Dolsot Bibimbap + 10 Side Dishes + 1 Rice. Meal for 2 (RM43)

There are total of 4 outlets in Klang Valley. (Bandar Baru Klang, Bukit Tinggi Klang, Kuchai Lama & USJ). I chose the one located at USJ because its just 10 minutes drive from my house.

Nice and inviting entrance.

We were greeted and directed to our seat. I handed over my printed copy coupon. Confirmed our order and within minutes 10 side dishes were served while a waiter preparing our BBQ Pork. (not crowded because its on weekday therefore the service was good?)

I like the ambiance here. Its bright and well-arranged.  The dining area is separated into 2. The tatami style and the normal one. I like the tatami area. Feel as though I’m having a meal in Korea.

The best part about Korean food is the side dishes (Banchan). Here are the 10 refillable side dishes.

The staff working on our pork. Doing the grilling and cutting on the stove right next to our table. Yes, we chose pork over chicken.

Samgyeop-sal (Sliced pork Belly). The perfectly done BBQ Pork Belly that you hardly feel the fats. They are cut into pieces so that its easier for people to consume.

With the green lettuce, miso sauce and bbq pork belly…we wrapped them with rice.

A bowl of piping hot Kimchi-Jjigae (Kimchi stew pork & tofu) was served pretty quick! The hot and flavorful soup is tasty and quite salty. Tasty and salty, went home feeling thirsty too!

Dolsot-Bibimbap, our final dish. Bibimbap is rice in hot pot topped with sauteed vegetables and chili paste. An egg will be cracked on the rice. Then mix and stir everything before eating. (photo above shows before and after mixing)

Overall, Samgyeop-sal (BBQ Sliced pork Belly) is the one I like most. The rest are just normal. Next I’m interested to try their Samgae-Tang (Ginseng chicken soup) because I love Korean Ginseng soup!

Dinner @ Restoran Uptown Japanese, Seremban 2

Taking a short break from my Bangkok post.

(Note : Dine here on beginning of May 2012).

Talking about Japanese food or Japanese Restaurants, there aren’t much choice in Seremban. Unlike in Klang Valley. Where you can spot one easily. (macam-macam nama pun ada) Recently, there’s a new restaurant serving Japanese food in Seremban 2. Near to my parent’s house again lor….hehe..

Dining in a new restaurant is like taking a risk on either you’ll be getting some good food or something that you wouldn’t bother to return again.

A simple and bring interior.

Flipping through the menu, just made me feel like its so similar to another Jap Restaurant which I’ve visited. The photo illustration is similar! *sigh* should have taken a photo to show you guys.

Chicken Teriyaki Zen – RM28

(grilled chicken coated with a sweet soy teriyaki sauce)

Chicken meat not very tasty. Only can taste the outer coating of teriyaki sauce.

Chicken Katsujyu Zen – RM28

(Japanese style fried chicken)

The average Chicken Katsujyu.

Salmon Sashimi Zen – RM30

The thinly sliced salmon.

Yakiniku Zen – RM36

(Japanese grilled beef)

Closer view of the beef stripes. This one is acceptable.

Verdict : Wasn’t much choice of dessert. Wanted to order green tea ice cream. Sadly it was not available! Green tea is served free. For the similar price but with better food quality and taste, I would prefer to go to Hokkaido IchibaRakuzen or pay slightly higher for Tenjin Japanese Cuisine.

Mochi Sweets @ The Gardens Mall

Mochi Sweets first landed on the sunny shores of Malaysia on 29 July 2011. Brought all the way from Japan. Made from glutinous rice flour, pure extraction of fruits, kidney bean and fresh cream.

My first purchase of Mochi Sweets was from the very first outlet in Malaysia..at Tokyo Street, Pavilion. My curiosity made me bought 2 pieces (1 for myself and 1 for Alex) when I saw the big crowd making their purchase. I like mochi..but this is not those Chinese version punya mochi. (with grounded peanuts and sugar as filling). This is like those Japanese version punya mochi. In my opinion, this is the best mochi that I’ve tasted. (perhaps you may have tasted a better one?)

Before consume, please read the instruction. (so mafarn…eat oso need to read instructions!) *smack head* I’m warning you on this because…ME..did not read the instruction. (probably because I ate inside the car during night, dark2..wouldn’t bother to notice there’s an instruction sticker) . So, the texture was quite hard. And I even told Alex..how come its like eating ‘ice cream’ de?? (but still taste nice oso lar) After I reached home only I saw the instruction sticker. *smack head*

“read instructions”

During the gals outing at MidValley & The Gardens Mall, I decided to get a box of Mochi Sweets. And I successfully ‘poisoned’ my other 3 gfs..to buy too! Wahaha…

Note : Sorry photos below I curi borrow from Mochi Sweets FB page.

Price for box of 6 and 12. (price may vary if you decided to choose your own flavors in a box. )

These mochi’s size are approximately 5-6cm diameter. And the filling is generous too!

The menu. Price range from RM3.50 to RM4. They’ve now introduced a new flavor. “Black Sesame”.

Good news! With every purchase of 6pcs..you are entitle to get a piece of Black Sesame Mochi for free. Erm…still got 3 more days for you to grab this deal before it ends rite? ^^

See…told you rite? Each with their happy & satisfied purchase! haha..

My box of treasure. I like the gooey and not hard texture. Of course with the generous amount of fillings. Each flavor taste differently. To me..all the flavors are good! RM3.50-4 may sound not cheap for a piece of mochi. But I think its worth trying. ♥♥♥  😉

Dinner @ Empayer Seremban Siew Pow, Seremban.

People who came to Seremban for sure to bring back some ‘siew pow’ as hand letter. Seremban is famous for ‘siew pow’ or ‘fu yong siew pow’. However these days you can now easily get it in KL or even other states. (BTW…this is not the only siew pow brand in Seremban)

From just a small siew pow shop , expanding its business all these years…and now Empayer Seremban Siew Pow is their biggest outlet here in Seremban. The big signboard and yellow building is easily sighted along the North South highway. Hence its easy for people to drop by before leaving Seremban. People often said, this place is a tourist makan place. Doing mainly on tourist’s business. Well…I wouldn’t deny that. Often sees tour buses sending tourists there for lunch or dinner. So, it has became a tourist favorite spot. Despite, some came here for the seafood…better environment.

Other than siew pao, egg tarts, pastries…what I like about this place is their Kirin Ebi Prawns. (A type of prawn reared in deep ocean and specially processed using advanced technology).

Lets see photos now…….

Pineapple tarts and Crispy Siew Pow . I felt that their siew pow’s standard has became non-consistent. Sometimes nice sometimes not nice. I still prefer their 1st shop at, “Warong Seremban Siew Pow, 1607, Jalan Rasah, Seremban”

Fried Kangkung Belacan – RM10 (Rating 8/10)

Stir Fry Baby Buk Choy – RM10 (Rating 5/10)

Siong Tong Lala – RM17 (nothing great about the taste of the soup. But the clams/lala are quite fresh)

Homemade Tofu – RM15 (Rating 8/10)

Mui Choy Kau Yuk – RM23 (Rating 8/10)

Crispy Grouper with Spicy Sauce in Lotus Leaf (Ho Yip Yu) – RM90

(Rating 6/10)

Special Fried Prawn – RM21 (Rating 9/10)

Caramelized marmite sauce coating the kirin ebi prawns..made it so tasty. While prawns are very fresh as you can taste the sweetness and crunchiness. Its fresh because they rear them, so its catch directly from the aquarium.

Pak Cheok Har (Poached Fresh Prawns) – RM21 (Rating 9/10)

I preferred this cooking method over the one above. As it able to retain the freshness taste from the prawns.

Something off topic…I’m excited..just exactly 1 more week..I’m heading to BKK for a short holiday. Time to PK and to get more fat!! 😀

Sarawak Laksa @ Hai Siang Kopitiam, Puchong

[41% Off] Sarawak Laksa OR Curry Laksa for 2 people at Hai Siang Kopitiam, Puchong for RM20 instead of RM33.70. For RM10 per person. Pork-free

(Served with Thai fish cake, mini Ngoh Hiang roll and Vietnamese prawn roll.)

When I saw this deal (above) offered at Groupon page, I was attracted by the ‘Sarawak Laksa’. Furthermore I heard a positive feedback from my friend over FB. Therefore I’m convinced! Sarawakians who are residing in Klang Valley and also misses their home-ground food can try Hai Siang Kopitiam’s Sarawak Laksa, and 3 layers tea (yet to try). Its quite similar to the authentic ones which I had in Sarawak. Ada jugak rasa Sarawak….

I was told that the owner of Hai Siang Kopitiam is from Borneo and the ingredients are from Kuching. Ohh..patutlah…

Very vintage feel. Matches the environment of a kopitiam.

Hai Siang Kopitiam started business in August 2006 in a new township of Bandar Puteri Puchong. Huh…so long edi ar…now only I knew about this place. So outdated!

A menu with more food and drinks. (will try more in future) I guess their signature drink should be coffee. But I didn’t order one. Because it was during dinner time and if I would to drink coffee…I will be an owl the whole night. I’m just like an old lady…can’t take tea or coffee at night. =_=

A beautiful bowl of Sarawak Laksa…with 2 fat prawns. Sarawak Laksa, the broth is different from our local Laksa. And the important thing for Sarawak Laksa is the sufficient spice and ingredient to make a perfect broth. Topped with shredded chicken, omelet and a calamansi.

Rice vermicelli for Sarawak Laksa is different from our local rice vermicelli. Its slightly thicker and crun.
