McCafe is now available in Seremban!

Yippie! Good news for the Seremban folks. The long awaiting McCafe is now available in Seremban. Ok lar…I know I’m the eagerly waiting one. LOL!

Currently there’s only 1 McCafe in Seremban. It is only 1 week old. Located at Tesco Seremban 2.

So far I only visited McCafe once, when it was newly opened in KL.

At McCafe you can enjoy assorted coffee with an affordable price. I meant comparing to other branded* coffee outlets. ^_^

What is McCafe?

McCafe is a coffee-house-style food and drink chain, owned by McDonald’s.

McDonald at Tesco Seremban 2 is quite spacious. Now, they have allocate this section into McCafe.

You’ll probably like to check out the price before placing your order.

For hot drinks, there are 3 sizes. Small, Regular & Large.

Cakes and muffins for you to pair with your drinks.

Mummy had Americano (Regular) – RM5.50. She claimed the coffee is nice.

I had Flat White (Regular) – RM5.50. I also added some chocolate powder and vanilla powder onto my drink. Hehe….the chocolate & vanilla powder are available at counter. You may add as much as you like. I like my cuppa Flat White too. 😉

Marcus had Iced Mocha (Regular) – RM6.50. It looks like 3 layers tea. LOL! It tasted good also…

I was tempted to order the Chocolate Lava Cake – RM7.50.

Check out the oozing runny chocolate from the cake. OMG! My cake is flooded with chocolate! Me likey* The chocolate cake was warm & moist too.

Satisfying coffee fix of the day. (No regrets)

When come to choose Big Fry (Tai Chow) near my staying place… Alex often suggest F4 Fish Head Restaurant, USJ. Came here several times with our family members. I would say the location of this restaurant is quite hidden. Somewhere in between the industrial area. The restaurant is quite spacious and draw alot of crowd during peak hours. (ie: dinner).

The other day, Alex’s brothers and cousin were in KL. So, we decided to come here for dinner.

I have no idea why isit named F4. I only know the Taiwanese F4 group singer which has expired 😀

Although its not air conditioned, with the numbers of hanging fans…you won’t feel warm also lar…

We wanted a tofu dish…and this was recommended by the staff who took our order. Claimed as Volcano Tofu. Unfortunately I did not see any volcano eruption. LOL! Firm tofu blocks..but its not hard. But I felt its just an average dish.

Pork Belly with Salted Fish.

Not much of fats…which is a good thing! haha….I would prefer if they added more salted fish. The taste of salted fish was quite mild.

Ku Lou Yuk (Sweet & Sour Pork).

This was good! The deep fried pork were crispy and its not dry. Poured over sweet & sour sauce with condiments like tomato, bell pepper and onions.

A meal will not complete without vege. Therefore we ordered a plate of Stir-fry Choy Tarm with Garlic.

Come here of course must order fish. This was the highlight of the night. Steamed Assam Tilapia! I hardly see the fish. Because it was soaking with tasty and rich assam gravy. It is spicy and sourish with some long beans, cabbage and lady’s finger. Really appetizing to eat with rice. While the talapia was fresh too.

Other dishes may not be all good, but I must say that I am quite satisfied with their fish dish on my visits. Another type of steamed fish that I felt good is “Yin Yang Tilapia”. The fish is steamed. They made them into 2 different types of flavor. 1/2 is topped with garlic and generous amount of ginger sauce. And the other 1/2 side is poured with tauchu sauce. Our total damage for the above meal was RM107 with total 6 eaters. Yay or Nay?

Know about this place when Sean of Eat Drink KL wrote a review on it.

But until today only I got the chance to ajak my friends to dinner together there.

The name of this place doesn’t make me think its an eatery. The other day when I mentioned about this place to another friend who works nearby…she initially thought its a workshop or anything to do with carpentery works. Perhaps an ID centre. LOL!!

The Carpenter’s Daughter~Artisan Bakery & Cafe not just selling bakery (breads & cakes). They also served Western & Asian food.

The Carpenter’s Daughter~Artisan Bakery & Cafe was first established as a home-based baking in 2008. Then started its operation on August 2011. True enough that the owner is indeed a carpenter’s daughter. While their bread claimed as using 100% certified organic whole wheat and unbleached flour and other natural ingredients without preservatives. That’s very healthy!

An overview of the bakery cum cafe. I read somewhere…mentioning that the carpentry works here were done by the owner’s(Jin) father. WOW impressive!!

The cosy room.

There were total 4 of us. So we were recommended to take the “Family Set”. Its for 4 person. Only available from 6 – 8.45pm.

Family Set comes with:-

9″ Pizza (selected choice. Seafood is not allowed)
4 bowls of soup.
2 nos. Pastas
Potato Lover
4 glass of drinks.

I like their Minestrone. It has rich tomato flavors…together with some other vege. I find it really appetizing!

The Mushroom Soup is full of mushroom goodness.

Carbonara Al Funghi, creamy spaghetti cooked together with 3 types of mushrooms.

Bolognese Chicken has generous amount of meat and sauce.

Homemade Pizza was delicious. *sorry I can’t recall the name”

The dough is not hard and not too thick. Look at the cheesy topping covering the pizza’s ingredients.

For Potato Lover, we chose Mashed Potato. The mashed potato is very smooth. While the gravy tasted good with the mashed potato. Often eaten outside usually quite salty and has alot of MSG taste. You won’t feel that on their mashed potato.

My friend commented that their Lemon Meringue is good. May be I should drop by someday to dapao it. Before leaving..I bought some buns for my breakfast.

Looking for some healthy food..you may drop by The Carpenter’s Daughter Artisan Bakery Cafe. The food here aren’t too salty, yet filled with rich flavors. Bear in mind..if you come here on weekdays, the kitchen closed at 8.45pm. So come before that time.

Korea is well known for skincare.

Korean gals are so pweetee… I want to look pweeteee with beautiful radiant skin too…. *envy*

Look how pweetee they are… (Girls Generation). ♥

Let me introduce you to Yadah and her alien pet Yom Yom. Such adorable characters use for the brand. I must admit that I often fall for nice or cute packaging. In this case…they had successfully attracted me! haha….

What I like about Yadah is that, they are using natural ingredients. Which is good comparing to some strong chemical products.

I decided to purchase their Starter Kit [Vitamin Range] from Hermo to sample it myself. The starter kit is priced at RM25. Consist of:-

3) Peel off strip when times up. Ouch…I felt quite pain while peeling it leh…Ermm…are those tiny strands on the strip are my blackheads? Not really visible. I think Biore’s nose pack is more effective ^_^

Verdict : Yadah provides an affordable skincare range. I think I will purchase the full size of BB Cream and also the Vitamin Emulsion.

When Yamagoya Ramen newly arrived in Klang Valley, I heard so much of their publicity through radio advertising. Since we were at Setiawalk Puchong, so Alex and I decided to give it a try. Understand that ever since Setiawalk implemented a parking fee, there are lots of complains about the jam towards the parking entrance. I hope they could do something on this.

You will be greeted by the friendly staffs as you enter their restaurant.

The 1 full page of ramen. Like not many choices hor….

My order; Yamagoya Ramen – RM19.

Not quite good. I was expecting it to taste as good as Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Thin ramen while the broth….don’t you think its quite oily? You may find the broth is very rich and tasty on 1st few sip…later on feel ‘jelak’. However the slices Pork Char Siu are quite nice.

Alex chose Spicy Tobanjan Ramen – RM22.

I felt that Alex’s ramen taste the same like mine. The only difference is that..he has additional chili paste.

After adding the chili paste into the ramen. *looks so oily* @_@

I did not bother to add on. Because I felt that Soy Sauce Egg for RM4 is quite pricey.

Wasn’t sure if we made the right order. But the ramen failed to impress me.

Hotel Review : Hotel Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

Redeemed my winning stay at Hotel Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur through Bangsar Babe Giveaway. I was looking forward to the hotel stay. I like staying in Hotel…I meant who doesn’t like rite?

Located in the middle of KL city, Hotel Grand Millennium earned 5 star rating.

While waiting for my room to be ready…by 3pm..so, I decided to walk across the road and visited Fahrenheit 88 shopping mall. Coincidentally these cute gals were posing in conjunction to the opening of Parkamaya (Asian Fashion Retail Concept Store).

I couldn’t help but to join in the fun. *kawaii des* ^_^

Check into the Deluxe Room and our room was onlooking Fahrenheit 88.

The Deluxe Room (430ft2) is quite spacious for us to move about.

32-inch LCD flat screen TV but not many interesting TV channels pun…

Unfortunately there’s no free wifi in the room *too bad* 😦

2 pairs of Bedroom slipper and bathrobe are provided. The bathrobe cannot take home ya… 😀

Safety box is provided in the room. Just in case if you need to lock your important stuffs.

I often get excited to check out hotels bathroom.

Complimentary basic bathroom amenities.

The bed is comfy with fluffy pillows! ^_^

We woke up early the following day to enjoy their breakfast at The Mill.

Wide range of food served here. The breakfast was quite good. We were there during school holiday period…the hall became crowded at about 9am.

Wanna have a morning dip? The huge swimming pool is located at the upper floor. Besides that, there’s also a gym room.

Lets chillax…..

This hotel has a good location. Ideal for shopaholics! 😉 Can go for early morning shopping. An early bird gets the worm rite? Fahrenheit 88 is directly opposite the hotel.

While Pavilion KL is just beside the hotel.

Lets go for early morning shop! *provided the shops are already open lar… 🙂

What I like most about this hotel is the great location. Walking distance to Pavilion KL, Starhill, Lot10, Fahrenheit 88, Sungai Wang, Low Yat Plaza(for IT gadgets) & Jalan Alor (for food). However I feel that the rooms looks abit old. May be its time to do some refurbishment. The buffet breakfast spread was good. Log into their website to check out the best rates.

Alex and I planned to go for a movie at Setiawalk Puchong.

Since we were there early before the scheduled movie, so we decided to go for a drink. Moreover I needed my coffee fix! hehe…..

mini mini miny mo, and we chose TiPsy Brew O’Coffee.

They also served cakes. I saw their cakes look quite good. I shall save it for my next visit! 😉

Forty Licks claimed as handcrafted ice cream using only the best ingredients, with no additives or preservatives. There were several other flavors…but I chose to try Salted Caramel (RM7.20) because I heard so much from people.

It was a good choice of choosing salted caramel. Not overly sweet. Hint of saltiness and sweetness of caramel!

“Forty Licks, because one lick just isn’t enough.”

Sorry…I lost count on how many licks I made :-p

Verdict : A nice place to spend your tea break. The coffee were good too. I like the ambiance and the friendly staffs. Besides beverages and cakes, they also serve food like sandwiches and noodles.

My Trip Back to Sarikei for CNY 2013

So fast CNY has over. But my mind still stuck in this festive season lar. Can’t CNY be 1 month? hehe….

HB and I often travel few days earlier before the CNY to avoid the crowd and also the expensive air fare.

While most of my friends were at work, I say goodbye to KL. Making many of them feel envious :-p soli lor….

We missed the cheap fare which fly directly to Sibu. Therefore we took the alternative way by going to Kuching then from there took another flight to Sibu in the late afternoon. Alex’s friend, Frankie who is in Kuching brought us here for the nice Sarawak Laksa. I also had a bowl of “Tian Miang Ngu” which look like our ‘min fun kou’ but they taste differently.

Frankie also brought us to this place selling lots of Kek Lapis (Sarawak Layer Cakes). Here, you can sample varieties of kek lapis for free. Very attractive isn’t it? But some are quite dry. I did not buy much, because Alex said MIL has ordered alot for the CNY. I still have those cakes in my fridge ler…next year kena tell MIL not to buy so much for us edi 😉

When I reached Sarikei, what I must eat the following day is the Kampua Noodle! I do know there some people in West Malaysia prefer Wantan Mee over this. For me…I think I like both of them also la..cos they are different!

Also not forgetting the Kolok Mee. I will never miss having both of them!

Although Sarikei is famed for its pineapple, but I seldom eat. Too cooling for me. Trust me..the pineapples there are very sweet!

Other then pineapple, Sarikei is also famed for its pepper. Have you seen a real pepper plant? I meant before they were process. I often come back to buy their pepper. And I noticed each time I buy, the price also increased 😦

A day before eve of CNY, followed MIL to a CNY bazaar at Nyelong.

It was a wet CNY. Luckily the rain stopped while on our way to the bazaar and I noticed this rainbow. I feel joyful each time I sees a rainbow.

Beautiful orange sky at about 7pm.

Have you ever seen this kind of dish served in a fast food outlet? Yes..you can only get this from Sugarbun Sarawak! I also never fail patronizing this place whenever I return Sarikei. I seldom order the burger but will normally order the fried chicken with their special rice.

On one afternoon, we skipped lunch and felt hungry later. So, MIL steamed these plump and meaty ‘siew mai‘.

Family reunion dinner. Some of it are bought from restaurant and some are prepared at home. Too much of food, we couldn’t finish all.

People were launching Kongming Deng (Sky Lantern).

It was like a fireworks competition on eve of CNY. Watched them for free. Unfortunately I sprained my knee when I was running back home when a firework at our neighborhood went haywire. *so dangerous* 😦

As usual, we will go friends house visiting (pai nien) on first day of CNY, after having a bowl of mee suah.

Time flies…its time for me to return to my own hometown. I traveled back on 2nd day of CNY. Beautiful sky leading my way to Sibu airport.

Before traveling back…I want to have these for my breakfast! Kampua, pig’s liver soup and bien nuk! Will miss them for several months lu…

MIL knows I like midin. She bought a few bunch for me (they are nicely wrapped in layers of newspaper) and that night we had stir fry midin (cooked with garlic, ginger & red rice wine) for dinner.

I must say that Puchong is a food haven. There are eateries till sometimes I couldn’t decide what to eat. ‘Big Fry‘ (Tai Chow) is often a good choice among the Chinese especially on family dinner.

But how about ‘big fry’ + seafood? My friend, Wanyi recommended this place at Restaurant Tak Fok. She said they serve seafood (crab) with reasonable pricing. She also enlightened me about the crowd during dinner hour.

Just a simple and casual dining place. Often crowded on weekends.

We came here for the crabs. 2 pieces of crabs for just RM28. As shown on their menu, they have 13 different types of cooking method. I chose Crabs with Butter and Milk Sauce. Nice flavors and not overly creamy. Although the crab size is a lil small, with the price I’m paying…it does satisfies my crab craving.

Fried bun to pair with the crab’s Butter and Milk Sauce.

Soft bun with crispy skin. But not as good as the one I had before at South Sea Seafood Restaurant.

I will always order at least one vege dish. Ordered a stir fry kailan.

Deep Fried Mantis Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk was quite good too.

We wanted Siong Tong Lala, but too bad Lala ran out of stock. So we were recommended to these Fresh Razor Clam (still in aquarium) for RM5 each. Cooked with rice wine, ginger and garlic. And also some cili padi and wolfberry.

Verdict : Looking for some good and affordable seafood, do pay a visit to Restaurant Tak Fok. Requires abit of waiting time during peak hour.

Nice Coffee @ La Roasteria Coffee, Seremban 2

I am delighted to know that there’s a decent cafe for me to tarn kopi (enjoy coffee). I meant like those in KL…aromatic coffee with pretty coffee art on it..Also, I received good reviews from some friends who had tried their coffee.

~~Recently I found out that they’ve opened another outlet at Seremban 2..which is nearer to my mom’s house.~~ The main outlet is at Seremban town (Jalan Kong Sang).

La Roasteria Coffee is the name of the cafe.

Nice ambiance. Isn’t it? Its a good thing that we can have brunch or have a drink with friends in this lovely place. In Seremban, we have very limited choice of places like this. Unlike in KL, people are spoiled with choices and places for brunch.

Other than coffee, they do serve these freshly baked scones and also cakes.

I came here for brunch. So, lets order something to fill our stomach.

I wanted light coffee, so I ordered a cuppa Caffe Latte – RM7.20.

Bro had Cappuccino – RM7.20. Pretty coffee art right?

While mummy had Mocha – RM8.

I chose to order sandwiches. I picked Butter Croissant with Fried Wild Mushroom filling – RM9.80. Choices of bread are Butter Croissant, Ciabatta, Panini, Baguette. On menu stated, “Fried Wild Mushroom filling” is recommended. Unfortunately I find it rather dry and tasted too mild. However I do like their butter croissant. Fresh, flaky and buttery!

Creamy Chicken Mushroom Pie – RM12.80. A savory pie with chicken filling. Light, flaky and buttery pastry. Comes with creamy soup. This was good!

Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese – RM10.80 was just average.

Can’t leave without having dessert. There wasn’t much choice of cake during my visit. I chose Moist Chocolate Mud Cake – RM7.80. Indeed very moist. Rich chocolate taste too. The cake was served warm. Therefore I thought it would be perfect if they added a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the cake.

Soon after I uploaded this colorful photo collage on my FB, friends got excited and drop by La Roasteria Coffee the following day.

Verdict : Simple and nice cafe to catch up with friends and have a drink. Recommended to try their coffee and cakes!
