Lunch @ Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Midvalley

I’m Popeye the Sailor Man, (poot poot)
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man.
I’m strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man.
CUT!!! Nahh….Not that Popeye, the sailor man. This is Popeyes *Louisiana Kitchen*, the well known franchise fast food restaurant. Serving its best Fried Chicken. Ashley been telling me how good about the food. Till 1 day, after so long…I finally got the chance to try. Some even said it tasted better than the well known Fried Chicken in Malaysia.
Lets see if that proven right.
A set of Chicken Meal consist of 2 pcs Spicy Fried Chicken with coleslaw, biscuit with jam and a regular size soft drink for RM10.90. Not really spicy though. But it was crispy, tasty and the meat is tender. Yet its not too oily. While, the biscuit is quite special and rare to see it in other fast food outlet. It has the texture quite similar to scone.
Chicken Sandwich (with Regular Size Soft Drink)RM8.20. Me likey very much! The fluffy bun sandwiched together with juicy fried chicken patty and fresh lettuce.  Simple yet delicious.
Chicken Rice Bowl (with Regular Size Soft Drink) – RM9.55.
Must have rice in your meal? Here, they may able to satisfy you. A bowl of perfectly cooked rice topped with chicken meat in tasty brown gravy.
Fish Bites – RM4.80
Nicely battered bite sizes of fish. So crispy and no fishy taste….
NOM NOM NOM…
4 pcs Wings – RM6.25
You don’t like the battered version? This is another alternative choice. Which is also a good one. Its tasty and its not dry.
Cajun Fries, the crispy fries with Cajun seasoning is simply irresistible!(texture is quite similar to curly fries)
Mashed Potato (Large) – RM5.20.
One should never miss ordering this mashed potato! Once eaten you’ll definitely falling in love (just like myself). I couldn’t resist the rich brown gravy filled with minced chicken while the mashed potato is so smooth.
Chocolate Surprise – RM4.25.
Sorry, don’t really like the dessert. There were 3 different flavors. All in a small cup. The other 2 flavors are Tiramisu & Strawberry Cheesecake.
So, lets head on to the nearest Popeyes to experience it yourself 😉

Lunch @ Tokyo Don, Pavilion KL

Located at Level 6, nestled in Tokyo Street….I found this small restaurant named Tokyo Don.

Tokyo Don
Specializing in Donburi (general term for ‘bowl’), Tokyo Don serves the popular Japanese ‘rice in a bowl’ with varied dishes served on top. Diners can choose from a list of options which include Oyakodon (simmered chicken, egg and onion on rice), and Gyudon (beef and onion on rice), among others. Situated beside its sister restaurant, Tokyo Teppan, cross-ordering can also be made between both outlets.

A menu is displayed at the entrance.

The Interior.

The simple menu consist around 20 over types of food. A quick one, Alex & I ordered from the Set Menu.

From the Set we both ordered, Alex was served with a bowl of salad while mine was served a bowl of tofu. I recalled the dense block of cold tofu was good. It has nice taste of soy milk.

Hokkai-Don – RM28

A bowl of Japanese Rice topped with fresh slices of Salmon and also fresh Salmon roe. (pop pop)….*thumbs up*

*a closer look. Are you drooling??

Edo (Seafood) – RM38

A set of teppanyaki meal. Inclusive of a bowl of fragrant garlic rice, vege(bean sprout & cabbage), miso soup and the perfectly grilled salmon, scallop & prawns.

*look closely* fresh and succulent seafood!!

Chawanmushi – RM12

Though the price is a lil on higher side for an ordinary size of chawanmushi, but trust me this chawanmushi is really good! Super smooth! Yummy~~~~

On Chinese New Year……2012

Hey Yo…..The fiery dragon is back!!

On this year of dragon…everything oso dragon dragon….luckily people can’t keep dragon as pet…else, I’m pretty sure pet shops will be doing good business.

Though I have limited time,

but I tried my best to at least did a simple CNY deco in my home. A vase of artificial Azalea placed on the TV console.

Then I placed some small lanterns around the vase.

Tangerines are everywhere!

CNY must have tangerines oso ma…

I go for the sweet ones (dunno who lar, will go for the sour ones).

So, I got myself a basket of mini tangerines and also some XL size ‘pong kam’. (many sizes…you want XXL oso got).

New clothes—> Checked!

New shoes —> Checked!

Ang Paos —> Checked!

All checked and into my luggage it goes. Where to? Balik kampung…..to HB’s hometown of cos. (Sarikei, Sarawak).

Then we took a flight home.

Everybody Can Fly! (Air Asia’s motto)

The flight journey from KL to Sibu Airport took around 2 hours.

Not forgetting, the flight fare during festive season is really ridiculous. Can even fly to overseas during off-peak season. Therefore, I usually buy my ticket around 1 year before hand. (Ohh…should I start booking my ticket for next year’s CNY??)

On eve of CNY, people usually have family reunion dinner. A table full of auspicious & delicious dishes. (No photo here…..too busy filling my stomach).

Then by midnight, you will see the sky is just like falling meteor rain. Fireworks everywhere. (Guess the birds should be at home by that time).

I don’t need to crowd with people during countdown of New Year. I still can watch these during CNY.

Beautiful Fireworks

Woke up earlier on first day of CNY.

Uhh…looking fresh ….

The married couples are suppose to give ang pao (red packet) to the children or people whom are not married (single).

My 2nd year to distribute ang pao (like a god of prosperity leh….)

A bowl of Mee Suah (rice noodle) with rice wine cooked by Mother In Law during Chinese New Year and its eaten for breakfast. It was a good one!! Mee Suah symbolize longevity.

A common practice by the Hokkiens and Foo Chow-nese.

I still practice the house visiting (pai nin). Visit friends. Go each house…eating the almost similar food (soft drinks, prawn crackers, layer cakes, cookies). Then at the end I feel like having a bowl of hot noodle.

If you are celebrating CNY at Sarawak….you will never miss the chance of trying these delicious layer cakes (kek lapis). Its common seen in every house. However the price is expensive. Because the process of making this cake  is quite tedious and time consuming.

Waaahhhh…..Can I finish the whole tray??? Of cos not la!! Goshhh….these are real fattening wey….

Again….Wish everyone “GONG XI FA CAI” & “Have a Prosperous New Year”

An Early Lou Sang @ Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant, Puchong

An early ‘lou sang’ dinner session with my family this this year.

Hubby brought us to Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant, Puchong. The restaurant was offering Chinese New Year Menu. Since there were 6 just of us, so they recommend us to this set menu serves for 4-6 pax. For 4-6 pax, there were 2 different sets. Slightly different in terms of dish & price.

We decided to go for the set which cost RM328 nett.

The Interior. It was quite crowded after 7+pm. Better to make a reservation or be early during this festive season.

Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss), an auspicious dish during Chinese New Year. Colorful and crunchy crackers, pickles, pomelo, thin salmon slices. All these are mixed with the plum sauce.

Getting ready to toss…toss the higher the better. I want wish for more money! Wahahahaha……I’m money minded… $$$$$$

Hardly see the microscopic salmon slice.

Shark Fin Soup

Marmite Prawns were fresh and delicious.

Steam Cod Fish in Supreme Sauce

Crispy Roast Duck was quite good.

Lotus Leaf Rice – so so only….portion so small!!

Braised Vegetables

For dessert, we were served longan (longan in syrup from can)…..very normal.

Verdict : For the price paid and the food we got…I felt that the set menu is kinda expensive.

CNY 2012 – Deco @ Pavilion, Mid Valley & The Gardens Mall

Right after the Christmas celebration, here comes the Chinese New Year.

I felt its really too soon. I wish there would be another week to go. Moreover I’ll be leaving town tomorrow morning, to Sarawak (Hub’s hometown). Earlier we were busy on our new house, did not have much time on CNY stuff. Talking about house deco and CNY goodies……….hopefully I can get it done by today.

Since this year’s CNY is so early, therefore I only managed to step my foot into these 3 popular shopping malls in KL. (Pavilion, Midvalley Megamall & The Gardens Mall) – to admire the CNY decorations!

Well…its CNY and this year came to be under the Dragon zodiac. So, you shall be expecting the Red & Dragons deco. If you do not have time to visit these 3 malls, probably you can spare some time looking at the photos below.

PAVILION, KL – MAJESTIC DRAGON FESTIVAL

The main attraction. At the Center Court, you are able to admire this beautiful 600ft long dragon hanging from above.

An overview of the Center Court.

The full of spirit and energetic dragon head was amazing.

Surrounding with lanterns and Azalea. Azalea is the symbol of happiness, harmony and balance in life. It is used to foster and strengthen relationships.-(source from web)

My adorable niece in her cheongsam outfit.

MID VALLEY MEGAMALL

located at the Center Court

Bazaars selling crafts

Adorable God of Prosperity.

These artificial Azalea are really nice. And it looks quite real too.

From left: Gold money tree which doesn’t bear money , cute baby dragons, artificial fruits and vege which are quite expensive.

THE GARDENS MALL

Wish everyone a prosperous Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai. Have a smooth journey home. 😉

Dinner @ Chambers Cafe & Bistro, Seremban 2

Chambers Cafe & Bistro located Seremban 2, serving not just drinks but also decent Western Food. Well recommended to Seremban 2 folks to get an excellent food here. Though this cafe has been operating for at least 2 years, but this was my first visit.

I brought my family here for a pleasant dinner. Thus everyone enjoyed their meal. Not much disappointment though……

The Interior. Marble top tables with comfy chairs in a cosy environment.

The sophisticated ambiance

Hehehe….uses Vernice’s toy as ‘keh leh feh’.

Wild Mushroom Soup (with garlic bread) – RM9.90 (recommended)

Chunky mushroom bits in creamy broth. Its tasty & delicious.

Seafood Chowder (with garlic bread) – RM9.90 (recommended)

Dislike mushrooms? No worries….Seafood Chowder is another alternative. And its a good choice too! Creamy and smooth soup filled with seafood.

Pan Fried Chicken with Green Sauce – RM17.90 (recommended)

Pan fried boneless chicken, the meat was tender and not oily. I like the green sauce which is made from green peas. Something special I think.

Grilled Chicken Chop (with black pepper sauce) – RM17.90 (recommended)

Perfectly grilled with a lil char on the chicken skin yet maintaing the tenderness of its meat. Served perfectly with the black pepper sauce.

Chicken Cordon Bleu – RM18.90 (recommended)

Chicken stuffed with chicken ham and cheese then deep fried to perfection.

Chicken Italiana – RM20.90

Deep fried chicken topped with mozzarella cheese and baked to perfection. Accompanied with spaghetti in olive oil, garlic & parsley. I like the meat very much. Love the melted cheese on the piece of chicken and its not oily too. However I felt that the spaghetti is a lil dry.

Chocolate Molten Cake – RM17.80

The warm and moist chocolate cake eaten with the icy cold Vanilla ice cream, was wonderful! It will be excellent if there would to have some oozing melted chocolate when I cut through the cake.

My 2nd Camera Bag

I like taking photos, but am not a photographer. Its just the passion in me. Therefore at times, I’m carrying a camera bag as frequent as a ladies handbag. To store my one and only precious cam.

Am a proud owner of my CRUMPLER 5 Million Dollar Home. – a very durable camera bag which I first own back at year 2010. Since camera bag has became my regular usage, therefore I want something more fashionable. Where it matches my dressing when I go for any outing.

A net friend suggested me to this online shopping website. (for fashionista photographers). Thanking him, I found what I want!

With an affordable price of RM120, I purchased a nice camera bag, just as what I’m looking for……

The front view.

(Dimension : Length 34 CM x Height 22.5 CM x Width 12.5 CM)

Back View – with wide slip pocket.

Adjustable Strap & Stylish Buckles.

With 2 front pockets, I can store my compact powder, lip balm, a tube of mint lozenge, face tissue and also a cellphone.

Its spacious. Able to fit my 550D and also additional 1 to 2 mid range zoom lens. The thick cotton inner padding is removable too.

How does it look? Not bad huh…..

Kopi + Cat

Kopi (Coffee) …my daily cuppa of the day…for me to stay awake.

Cat.. may look cute..but they can be sneaky too..BEWARE!

When both words are added together….it may sounds like ‘Copycat’.

I often seen photographer’s original sources were used or copied by some irresponsible users, without the permission of the owner. Same goes to food blogger’s photos and reviews were copied by other user/ writer though watermark is printed on each photos. People these days are brilliant. Simply by cropping the watermark or fading it…they claim the source belongs to them. There’s also another type of person. They like to sneak and read quietly…without leaving any footprints… But on the other hand, you can see there’s many similarity from your blog appears on his/her blog. The way the write, the way they comment, the sentence, the words.

Am wondering, can these people be categorized as plain lazy or they just can’t be a lil more creative and to write and put their own words.

So, to the copycats…please have some respect to the owner!

While for owners, be proud of yourself too…because you are being copied!

Good Day & Have a Pleasant Weekend Everyone!!

Red Velvet Cupcakes for the Birthday Guy

I reckon I’m having quite a numbers of backdated post….Blame me for being busy lately. With most of the time spent on work, house thingy & etc. So sorry guys…

Last month, I ordered a dozen of Red Velvet Cupcakes for Alex’s birthday which falls on 25th December. Yeap…a double celebration for him. Christmas cum birthday. (present also can be 2 in 1) kekeke... I came to know about this baker, her name is Jocelyn whom reside in Seremban when a friend of mine, Clara shared her page in Facebook. (this is how FB able to spread news). She has a whole long list of cupcake flavors for me to choose. A good thing to customers. Somehow, I decided to give it a try on Red Velvet (a glamor flavor these days)……

However she does not do delivery, due to certain reason. Therefore I collected it myself from her house which is just a short distance from my mom’s house…

A dozen of standard size Red Velvet (Red mild chocolate cupcakes) with vanilla cream cheese frosting & red hearts.

Ohhh….so thoughtful of her to place a ‘Happy Birthday’ stand.

Cream Cheese Frosting is so much nicer than the usual Buttercream.

Check out the brilliant color of Red & White!

For standard size, its around 5.5cm base. Look at the generous amount of cream cheese frosting…uuuhhh…I’m so loving it! Moreover the cake is so light and moist. It balance perfectly together with the cream cheese frosting. Health cautious??? Worry not… the cupcakes are not too sweet. But if you have sweet tooth, then you might need to request for a lil sweeter.

Not forgetting a birthday card for my beloved hubby from this lovely wife…heheh….

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUBBY!!

**Jocelyn, you’ve made great cupcakes! Everyone of us loves it….Yay…..at least I found a good baker in Seremban!!

Dinner @ Nando’s , USJ Taipan Subang Jaya

Greeting Happy New Year to everyone here. How was your new year? Hope everything is fine.

……my first post for year 2012……

Checking in Nando’s USJ Taipan, a busy commercial area.

Nando’s at USJ Taipan is a new outlet. Usually you will locate one at shopping malls…which is rather common. This stand alone Nando’s has good ambiance and its spacious too. How about the food quality and service? Well, its not bad too. The food served has a good presentation with sufficient ingredients and flavors. Well…I’ll leave it to you to judge through the photos  ^^

“Hence, to my gf Ashley…I know lately you are quite stressful, upset and quite disappointed. Perhaps, this post might brighten up your day….hehehe…(her favorite food after all)…”

The exterior looking pretty attractive.

The lowered wooden platform to place a row of Nando’s Peri Peri sauce. What a creative idea!

a promising deal….

All Nando’s Chicken are marinated for 24 hours in their secret sauce until the flavor goes right through to the bone. They are then flame-grilled and basted with your choice of Nando’s Peri-Peri sauce.

Everybody loves Nando’s…

Nando’s authentic Peri Peri, also known as the African Bird’s Eye Chili. Which is your favorite? I like Garlic Peri-Peri Sauce.

1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines (Mediterranean Rice & Old Style Chips)  – RM15.90

1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines (Coleslaw & Peri Chips)  – RM15.90

Based on the Peri-o-meter, choose your desired flavor for the chicken. Ranging from Lemon & Herb(for beginners), Mild Peri-Peri (a little warmer-for those looking for more adventure), Hot Peri-Peri (if you really want to spice things up) and Extra Hot Peri-Peri (Evoke tears of joy for serious chili lovers).

Lighten Up Chocolate Cake – RM8.90.

Look at the thick and rich chocolate slice. Its a good choice for chocolate lovers (referring to myself).

I’m giving a good score for this Nando’s outlet. Hopefully my next visit won’t be disappointing .
