Happy New Year 2012

Year 2011 has come to an end. How was everything throughout the whole year? No matter its good or bad, lets hope in this coming year 2012 will be a better one. What was the greatest thing that you’ve done or greatest achievement this year? As for me…hmm…I think the greatest & happiest thing that I’ve gotten this year is…owning a house. A home for both hubby & I. Spending all of our savings to this house is worth. (counting on the virtual Gucci, LV, Chanel bags I’m hanging on my walls).

Well, this year’s New Year would be special…..celebrating at new house, with hb, and also together with my family.

Have you list down your new year resolution? Let me see mine…I think I want to wish for HEALTH! Wish everybody is healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Lunch @ Goku Raku Ramen, Midvalley

Cracking our heads to choose an eating place for our lunch seems tough. There are so many choices when you are at a shopping mall. I must admit that Malaysians are spoil with tonnes of food choices. Therefore to make it quick, we look through the ‘list of restaurants’ of Midvalley and finally we decided to choose Goku Raku Ramen. I’ve read several positive reviews from food bloggers whom wrote about this place. No doubt, its indeed a choice and you should try it yourself.

At Goku Raku Ramen, the Ramen Haven serving you authentic Japanese Ramen. The ramen here are made fresh everyday, using the ramen machine. While broth are simmered to perfection for 48 hours to bring out its exquisite taste. If you dislike ramen, well you can still have another choice. You may choose to have rice.

An informative menu…provides simple description on each dish.

Never knew that there are steps to enjoy a bowl of ramen. All I know is just pick up a pair of chopstick and makan! ^^

Hhmm….looks like Wanyi is studying really hard….on the menu.

Ashley was busy texting….

Minutes later, these 2 gals were busy cam-whoring….

The refillable Green Tea – RM2

Plain Water with Lemon Slice – RM2

A blogger wrote, “Chef Kanai San explained that the lemon infused water would clear our palettes better than green tea.

Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen – RM20.90

Tonkotsu Broth Noodles topped with Char Siew, Flavoured Egg, Black Fungus, Spring Onion, Leek, Bamboo Shoot, Seaweed and Fragrant Garlic Oil.

If you are a first timer to ramen, I would suggest you to choose Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth is on mild side yet tasty. While the ramen is springy.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen – RM17.90

Spicy Tonkotsu Broth Noodles topped with Char Siew, Black Fungus, Spring Onion, Bamboo Shoot, Bean Sprout and Seaweed.

If you like something spicy, Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen is definitely a good choice! The spicy broth gives you the ‘kick’. Meanwhile, the bamboo shoot is crunchy yet doesn’t have that ‘weird’ taste.

Goku Raku Miso Ramen – RM20.90

Miso in Tonkotsu Broth Noodles topped with Cabbage, Minced Pork and Fragrant Garlic Oil.

Minced pork were delicious and tasty. Miso Ramen has stronger flavor broth…. However, I find it a lil too oily.

Flavored Egg

I almost forgotten about this egg that I’ve ordered, after I place it aside. Then the gals pointed on the egg, only I remembered. What an old lady I am…. ^^

This egg was good. A slight taste of soy sauce on the outer part. Moreover the egg texture was good too…not too hard or overcooked.

getting ready to eat….

An advertorial for Goku Raku Ramen?? Will it pass?? Hahah….

Different Color Tone – Nippon Paint

My house is currently on renovation. I decided to repaint the whole house (interior + exterior) using Nippon. I was quite confident and convinced with this well known paint, Nippon. With all these Go-Green campaign, I decided to choose Nippon Paint Green Choice Series – Nippon Odour-Less Aircare. If you hate the strong paint smell after painting your walls, Nippon Odour-Less Aircare is a good choice!

The benefits of Nippon Odour-Less Aircare.

Subsequently, I decided to use different colors on each room. This idea is good(to look nice), but you will end up using a lot of paint. I engaged painter to do the job. Somehow, something just went not right……

Initially I was advised(by the dealer) that a can of 5 liter is sufficient for my bedroom 2. Apparently to cover the existing color (which is green), it requires more coating. Then hubby re-purchase another can of 1liter from a nearby hardware shop (1st and 2nd can of paint purchased from 2 different hardware shop) to do some final touch-ups on the wall. After that, we discovered 2 different color tone on the wall. Though we uses the same code, same name, same range of paint. In resultant, hubby repurchase another can of 5 liter paint (same code) to repaint the whole room again. Can you imagine, 1 small room…we are using all together 11 liters of paint!!!!

I chose “Clear Blue 442”. Nice right??

Notice the different color tone?

Few days later, I decided to send an email to Nippon regarding this matter.

With the prompt reply, Nippon’s technical department rang me up. Here’s the brief conversation.

Nippon : I understand that you made a report regarding about the paint.

ME : Yea…

Nippon : Are you requesting us to send our technicians over to do a test?

ME : (huh….there’s such service?) NO…Sorry, I can’t wait for your technicians to come over. I’ve already repainted the whole room. As, I’ll be moving in next week. I’m just curious to know what are the causes. And I thought using the same code ..I shall be getting the same color.

Nippon : Here; you mentioned that you purchase it from 2 different shops.

ME : Yea.

Nippon : Hmm…I suspect their paint ‘machine head’ not clean. So, when they blend the color…it appear slightly different. That’s why we usually advise our dealer to do cleaning on daily basis.

ME : (gum dou dak)…… ???? OOhhh….icic

Nippon : So sorry about that. We’ll take note on this and inform the dealer (the 2 shops where I purchased the paint) about this matter.

Though its nothing major, but I wish to highlight this to my fellow readers…try your best to purchase from the same dealer/ shop. In order to avoid this kind of ‘wastage’.

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt, The Gardens Mall

Old MacDonald had a farm, EE-I-EE-I-O.
And on that farm he had a cow, EE-I-EE-I-O.
With a moo moo here and a moo moo there
Here a moo, there a moo, everywhere a moo moo
Old MacDonald had a farm, EE-I-EE-I-O………

I’m singing to this nursery rhyme……

Moo Cow reminds me of this nursery rhyme…..

Frozen yogurt became popular in KL.  Frozen yogurt usually consists of milk solids, some kind of sweetener, milk fat, yogurt culture, coloring, and flavoring. Hence its lesser calories compared to ice cream. Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt is a new brand in Malaysia, began to expand its business over shopping malls.

Ashley and Wanyi been telling me how good it is….

Therefore I decided to give it a try…ya, at least once..else you wouldn’t know.

A farm like eating area. (with cloud shaped lights)

This Moo Moo Cow is the main character. I noticed…each outlet has different color cow.

Hhmm…I feel like I’m in a barnyard…

Place your order here. Steps shown on how to place your order. (self service basis)

Free sampling. You may sample the flavors first before placing your order. Wanyi busy sampling. While Ashley chup-ing a seat. Then Melissa busy taking photos ^^

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt in the yummy original or seasonal flavor.  You can add toppings of your choice! There were quite a number of choice of toppings.

Instead of the original flavor, we chose the seasonal flavor. The seasonal flavor for this month is Cinnamon and Rootbeer. After sampling it, we decided to go for Cinnamon. Cinnamon flavour + 1 topping priced at RM11.90. If you like to have additional topping, just top up another RM1.

Here, our choice of topping is Oreo Crumbs. Moo Cow frozen yogurt is creamy, smooth and dense! It has good consistency…even till the last spoon..the texture still remain same. I meant, it did not turn watery.

Wanyi, the bride to be is in the house! Looking forward to her wed this weekend….

Do you love Moo Cow?  YES! I certainly Moo Cow….

Christmas Deco At MidValley Megamall

Christmas celebration is getting nearer. Counting on the days made you feel the excitement. The other day I posted about Christmas deco at Sunway Pyramid. Well, today I shall tour you to Midvalley Megamall….another popular shopping complex in Klang Valley. I recalled Midvalley often scored the highest point on Christmas deco, beating the rest of the competing shopping malls.

Myself and my gfs, we made a sudden changes to our meeting venue. Instead of Pavilion & Fahrenheit, we changed it to Midvalley Megamall. (erm…due to several reasons). I always sees Midvalley is creative in their festive deco. Last year they had it with the theme of “Have A FUNTOYSTIC Christmas!” – using toys and also stuffed toys as the main deco. While this year, their theme would be “An ‘A-maze-ing’ Christmas”. Able to imagine how does it look?

The main deco is located at Center Court.

A huge Christmas tree is placed in the middle.

This is what they called it “An ‘A-maze-ing’ Christmas”. The maze!

Greeted by this huge lion statue at the main gate to the maze.

Uhhh…the sleepy lion…

These are all artificial plants.

What do you think? A nice place to take photographs with your friends, family and your loved ones right? But dislike the crowd during weekends lah..

Ashley vs. Melissa

The outstanding Ashley Woo….

Thanks you, Ashley for this lovely photos of ME ^^

Santa…Please free us..We promised to be good next year…. =p

Yippie….Santa & Santarina both arrived just on time to free us…

Grab hold of a shopper to take the photo above. Finally….a photo all 3…

Dinner @ Restoran Sin Yit Sing (新日昇餐馆), Seremban

Seremban is popular for grilled crab. Here, you may be able to find several restaurants serving grilled crab. But the popular ones are just few. However I often patronize  Restoran Sin Yit Sing (新日昇餐馆) because I find their food suits my taste, especially the grilled crab. Therefore I usually recommend my friends to this restaurant if they are keen or craving for grilled crab in Seremban.

Few weeks ago when my gf, Ashley was spending a night at PD with her beloved hb, Andrew…they took the initiative to drop by Seremban for dinner. That was because ‘somebody’ was craving for crab lor….saying “long time din go for crab crab edi le”…..and another “somebody” FFK last minute huh… Apology accepted..due to some emergency stuff.

On weekends, this place is often crowded. We were there at around 7+pm.

Something refreshing, I ordered a young coconut drink, RM5 each.

Chinese loves having soup before their meal. Therefore I’ll recommend you to this Coconut Chicken Soup, RM17 each (serving size for 2 pax). Using Chinese Wolfberry, Yu Zhu (Solomon’s Seal Rhizome, Polygonatum) and Chicken as main ingredients, cooked for several hours…made a flavorful soup.

For main course, we ordered Steamed Rice in Lotus Leaf, RM28 (serving size for 4 pax). Rice was well marinated with sauce, added 2 different types of Chinese sausages and slices of mushrooms, bring to steam. I like the fragrant lotus leaf which made the rice so aromatic.

For vege dish, we ordered Wild Fern Cooked with Belacan, RM10. This dish was just average. Because I don’t really taste much of the belacan. And I felt its rather dry too.

Finally! The signature dish! Grilled Marmite Crab! We ordered 3 piece which cost us RM88. @_@ Quite overpriced rite? What to do…all of us like it so much. I like the fact that you can taste the nice marmite sauce, its well coated on the crabs. Yeap..the crabs were fleshy too.

Dipping the flavorful crab claw into this ‘special sauce’.

Christmas Deco at Sunway Pyramid

Christmas is just around the corner. Hence its a celebration to be jolly, to gather family & friends. And the most interesting part is…..about PRESENTS!! Nevertheless, shopping malls are putting their very best effort in the Christmas decorations. Each and every malls with usually come up with their respective ideas to create a theme. These atmosphere began a month before Christmas or even earlier.

I love visiting shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur during the month of Christmas. I felt that, that’s the place where I can feel the best Christmas spirit. Admire how creative they are…….

Here I’m touring you to Sunway Pyramid, with their Christmas tagline

“Joyful Christmas”

Christmas without pine trees?? No way!! How I wish to get one for my house….Unfortunately, there are some delays…therefore I shall push the idea to next year lah…

Children loves Christmas too….

And of course, not forgetting myself too!!  ^^

Christmas is all about the beautiful lights that brighten up the town.

Adorable Christmas bears for your love ones.

A walking Christmas tree?? @_@

No worries…It’s just a man dressed in Christmas tree outfit.

Feeling the excitement…..snapshot with the candygirl! Awww…she’s way too sweet….

Just can’t get my eyes off from her sifattt butt with all the soft dolls.

Looking for Santa? Be there at the center court from 2-4pm on every weekends.

Santa Claus is in town…you better be good!

iPad…indeed a useful gadget…

Ending my post with an overall Christmas deco on center court (shoot from Orange Concierge, ground floor)

Then returned to the dining hall to fill my stomach. So convenient right? (Sunway Pyramid linking to Atrium Cafe at 4th Floor)

Successfully grabbed this deal with the recommendation by Baby Sumo….for just paying RM55

Sparing and arranging my time will all the good deals coming around, finally I’m redeeming my coupon just before it expires. Traveled from Seremban, I reaches at 12pm. Regarding about the ‘multiple entry’, how do they identify their guests? Alex & I were, each were given a handwrist tag. (just like what you got went you visit theme parks. e.g: Sunway Lagoon). Therefore my all day long meals are settled here. My lunch, my tea break, my dinner. And if time permissible, I can continue with supper too! ^^

Dinner @ Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh, SS14 Subang Jaya

When you say Bak Kut Teh or short form as BKT, people often refers you to Klang. That’s because Klang is famous for Bak Kut Teh.

Nevertheless, I can get good BKT in Subang & KL or other states too. Nestled in this busy township of Subang, I found this good BKT! All thanks to Alex who highly recommended this place. Alex claimed that the very much popular Taiwanese singer Jay Chou visited this place once, sometime before year 2000. WOW! This place got so popular? Did Mr. Jay enjoyed the food? Did he get a free meal there? Did he cut an album on BKT? Oppsss….soreeeee….*cut the crap Mel!*

Well…a brief intro if you do not know what is BKT.

The name literally translates as “meat bone tea”, and, at its simplest, consists of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds and garlic) for hours.[1] However, additional ingredients may include offal, varieties of mushroom, choy sum, and pieces of dried tofu or fried tofu puffs. Additional Chinese herbs may include yu zhu (rhizome of Solomon’s Seal) and ju zhi (buckthorn fruit), which give the soup a sweeter, slightly stronger flavor. Light and dark soy sauce are also added to the soup during cooking, with varying amounts depending on the variant. Garnishings include chopped coriander or green onions and a sprinkling of fried shallots. (source fr. wiki)

The crowd started to grow after 7pm. Though large crowd, you’ll get your food served pretty quick. Looking at the crowd..I think I can count the profit *kaching kaching $$$$$*.

I like mixing both dark & light soya sauce together with garlic & cili padi.

They serves ‘nasi minyak’ rather than the white rice which is so common. I love dipping the crispy ‘yau char kwai’ into the hot soup.

Star of the day! Bak Kut Teh filled with 3 layers pork, pork ribs, pig’s intestine, pig’s stomach and fu chuk for RM28.50 (serving for 3). Well, we added Enoki Mushroom for RM5.

*sings..Smoke Get in Your Eyes……BKT must be consume while its hot. I very much prefers the BKT that serves in claypot. These days, there are many serving method. However I still love the classic claypot one lah! Ok..back to this pot of BKT. What can I say more? The rich and flavorful soup is so good. If you unlike the strong taste of herbs, worry not…the herbs in the soup is not too strong yet retain the good flavors. Not enough of soup? Ask for more! ^^

Dry Bak Kut Teh – RM19 (serving for 2). After trying the common type of BKT, how about trying the dry version. Something like braising I suppose. Loving every bites of the 3 layers pork which is meaty and tender cooked with dark soya sauce, chopped cili padi and ginger.

Vinegar Pork Trotter (猪脚醋) – RM9.50 (serving for 1)

A dish which usually consumed by mummies during confinement (after childbirth). Why? This dish is often cooked with lots of ginger. Knowing that ginger able to dispel wind from the body.

Sour & Spicy Vegetable – RM5 (small)

For single serving, I would say the portion is generous enough. The sourish yet spicy gravy is so appetizing.

Too much of meat? Well…balancing it by ordering a plate of vege; “Yau Mak”(lettuce) – RM10

Food : 9/10

Service : Efficient

Price : Affordable
