Buffet Dinner @ Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel

“Dear reader, so sorry that this blog went hibernate for a week. Because the author was busy chasing dateline.”

I visited Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel two weeks ago.

Last 2 months, I managed to grab this good deal from Everyday. It attracts 5000 buyers with the value price of RM46/ person. Applicable for dinner from Friday – Sunday.

Thought it would be a great opportunity to use it during ma birthday.

Though the dinner begins at 6.30pm, I was rather surprised seeing a large number of diners queuing at the entrance of Eyuzu (located at first floor). What’s more surprising was that everyone was holding a printed copy of their coupon! Wonder do Eyuzu still serve quality food though knowing the fact that everyone came with coupons.

Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine

Taking after the name of Japan’s rare and expensive fruit of mysterious provenance – /yuzu – /Eyuzu at the Eastin Hotel represents authenticity and exquisiteness. Recently awarded “*Best Asian Cuisines Restaurant*” and “*Best Asian Cuisine Chef*” by the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2005/2006, you will find haute cuisine such as sizzling teppanyaki, sukiyaki, crispy tender tempura and sumptuous sashimi.

My favorite corner. Of sushi & sashimi. They served varieties of fresh handmade sushi & fresh sashimi which I couldn’t resist. Oh ya, they replenish the sashimi pretty quick. So, don’t need to pile up your food till others can’t get their share lor..hehhe…

WOW…check out the fresh sashimi!! Each slice are equally thick. I was told that they served Grade A sashimi. SLURRRPPP….wanting more!

Enjoyed each and every piece of it.

Wide range of Sushi

Wide range of sushi

The prawns were very fresh too

Cold Crabs

Japanese Potato Salad

Cold Tofu

All were place in a small bowl. Look so pleasant and handy!

The crunchy Edamame

Crispy Seaweed, Salmon Skin, Prawn & Crabstick

Unagi was good. Unfortunately the chicken cutlet were quite lousy. Very bland….

Chicken Skewer – not nice. meat too dry.

Teppanyaki Section. Pick your choice of meat and get them to cook for you.

Baked Oyster

Chawan Mushi was awesome. Silky smooth egg with condiments beneath.

Shark Fin Soup – couldn’t find any shark fin though.

Customize your own udon or soba with some condiments. Delicious!

Yeahh…dessert time!

Types of cakes. But they were just average.

Japanese Pancakes were made fresh on the spot. I added honey and chocolate sauce on it. They were small, not too thick and very fluffy. NICE!

Mochi with fillings. (peanut, black sesame, red bean). They are my favorite.

How about some Hot Mochi? They are glutinous ball with fillings boiled in warm water then coated with peanuts. So, its served warm. Unfortunately I think its overcooked. So, it was kinda mushy.

Strawberry & Green Tea Ice Cream

The very laku slices of Melon. The natural sweetness and fragrant which tells me to return for more.

Though there were some not so nice dishes, but with that superb Sashimi I had…I will be happy enough!

Jelly Mooncake by Q Jelly Bakery Shop

Mooncake Festival (Mid-Autumn) is around the corner. You can easily get or find a mooncake selling in shopping malls or any bakery shop.  Even Hotels are promoting their best mooncakes. Don’t get surprise you will be spoilt for choice. The snowkin or baked mooncakes are rather common these days. How about trying some jelly mooncakes? Yea..they do have fillings like the ordinary mooncakes, but the skin is made of jelly.

Last weekend, brother in law bought a box of jelly mooncake from Q Jelly Bakery Shop.Q Jelly Bakery Shop, the house of jelly is well known for its creative and freshest jelly cakes for all occasions.

A box of 4, simply pleasant as gifts. It requires to consume within 2 days of purchase.

Colorful Jelly Mooncakes.

Q Jelly claimed that the jelly is Green Seaweed imported from Japan. Moreover all the food color dyes are approved by “The Food and Drug Administration” (FDA) in United States. So, no worries bout that.

From Left; Mango Filling, Taro Filling.

From Left; Winter Melon Filling, Sweet Corn.

All 4 flavors are nice. They aren’t too sweet either. I personally much preferred the fruit flavors. I find it more special.

A Year Older…….

Yesterday was my birthday. Those days I usually look forward this day. Somehow I don’t feel any difference now other than my age increased. Yet, that is reality.

Next year onwards, I am no longer calling myself as in age 20s! Not eligible anymore. Huhuhuu….

Darn…why am I sounding so sad larrr….. Its ok as long as I keep myself well, I still can look youthful right? (still not accepting the fact).

Well, I got a week off during the Raya Festive & Malaysia Independence Day! I can have a whole week enjoying life.(by being a Sleeping Beauty)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all Malaysians!!

*not going to put so many candles. So worry the cake will sink*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME….HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME….HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME…………………………………… yeah..claps!

BBQ Dinner @ Trader’s Food Shop, Avillion Admiral Cove

As promised earlier; I will blog about my dinner treat at Avillion Admiral Cove.  That night,we decided to try its BBQ Buffet. Its a nice location. Because you may enjoy the nice view of marina while enjoying your meal. But during buffet, how often lar you will go enjoy the scenary…*LOL!* Moreover you hardly choose to sit outdoor…not scared digigit nyamuk meh..

The weekends buffet dinner begins at 6pm. Price is at RM60++

I preferred to be seated indoor (with air condition). Which is more comfortable.

The Salad Line

Pickles and Salad Dressing. Waa…I spotted cincalok. Do you like it?

Salted Fish / Ikan Masin

Wanted to warm up my stomach, I took a bowl of soup noodles served with bean sprout, fish cakes, slices of chicken and some spring onions. Too bad the soup was not warm enough for me. & tasted abit bland too.

Alex eagerly went to get some satay. Which has the longest queue. Worth the queue. Because it really taste good. Juicy and tender chicken meat. Not much fats either. We went second round for this satay.

Grill Sambal Sting Ray

BBQ Chicken Wings & Sausages

The wings have good aroma. Just that it would taste better if they could adjust the salt level. The flesh tasted abit bland.

The Grilled Lamb was good. Tender and tasty. I like it to be covered up with black pepper sauce. You may also choose mushroom sauce.

Sweet & Spicy Grilled Crab

Grilled Prawns – Prawns are fresh!

Porridge with Condiments. I like the combi! The porridge is smooth.

Tom Yam Seafood – Was not pleased with the soup.

Gosh…I wasn’t aware! Its almost half gone. Luckily Chef Ignatius, the Executive Chef was kind enough. He replenished this bowl of fresh mussel just for me to capture another nice shot! A friendly chef indeed. He is very cautious. He seems to check the food on the buffet line every now and then.

replenishing in progress……

Fresh Mussels (After its replenished)

Chef thought me how to differentiate between both colors of mussels. The white and orange ones. Apparently, the ‘white’ is male. While the ‘orange’ is female.

Tosai with Dhal Curry & Sambal

In buffets; the most anticipated part for me would be cakes and desserts. Unfortunately over here the choices are limited.

a short getaway……..2D/1N@Avillion Admiral Cove

In conjunction to our anniversary and with a minimal budget; we decided to choose Avillion Admiral Cove as our destination of a short getaway! Avillion Admiral Cove is located at Port Dickson, which is just approximate 30 minutes drive from my home (I can save travel expenses too…).

*If you would like to head to PD town, you will need to drive for about 15 minutes.

My planned iternary of the day. Looks kiddie..but cute right?? ^^

The crowded lobby. Duno why so many people chose to go on the same day =_=

View from lobby

The grand stairway

The room check-in was done quick. May be because I’ve already made my payment when I booked the room through PYO Travel website.

I booked a Superior Room for RM220 (inclusive of breakfast for 2). It could be that I did not inform them much earlier that I wanted a big bed. Therefore I was given the room with 2 single beds. In resultant of that; Alex pushed both beds together.

The Bathroom – Standing Shower Area.

I wasn’t too sure how come the toilet area stinks alil. There could be a hidden area which was uncleaned *yuckiieeee*

This area looks like an office to me ^^

A small sofa for you to watch TV

Well….I switched it to ‘timer’ with ‘continuous shot’ for the photos above…

(wahh…now I realized that our shirt color matches the sofa lerr….)

Left side view from our room’s balcony.

The marina view

Kids Pool

Adult Pool

Seeing the pool, plus with the hot weather, I felt like jumping into the pool immediately!

Only reveals the back…..

Hand in hand we walk together…Till when? I hope is forever!

From the hotel main entrance, walk about 5 minutes to the private beach.

hehehe….stole a snapshot of the sand castle did by a little gal

We had fun with our shadows! =p

Over here, you may rent a bicycle. RM15 per hour (if I’m not mistaken)

Mel at Art Space

They do serves good breakfast….

Review :  The Superior Rooms are located at ‘View Wing’ (which is the one room that I shared photos here). The furniture seems to be alil old. If to be given a chance to stay again; I think I will choose Deluxe Room located at ‘Vista Wing’ which is much newer. Facility wise; if the pool table would to have more than 1; that would be better. heheh….

*stay tune on my next post about Buffet Dinner at Trader’s Food Shop*

Duanwu Festival (端午节)

Duanwu Festival (端午节) or Dragon Boat Festival falls on 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar which was yesterday.

The story behind these; “The Duanwu Festival is believed to have originated in ancient China. A number of theories exist about its origins as a number of folk traditions and explanatory myths are connected to its observance. Today the best known of these relates to the suicide in 278 BCE of Qu Yuan, poet and statesman of the Chu kingdom during the Warring States period.”

On this day; the Chinese will usually celebrate it with the present of rice dumplings. You can easily buy it or make it. I’m not making it because it involves many steps. In order to save the hassle, we just purchase them.

Here; I have 2 different types of rice dumplings. Actually different dialect, you may find their rice dumplings taste different. Even the wrapping method may be different as well.

Traditional Chinese Rice Dumpling

(stuffed with mung beans, pork, black mushroom, salted duck egg, chestnut)

Alkaline Dumpling with Red Bean Filling

Jianshui zong (碱水粽): Meaning “alkaline water zong”, these are typically eaten as a dessert rather than as a main meal. The glutinous rice is treated with lye water (aqueous sodium carbonate), or potassium carbonate giving them their distinctive yellow color. Jianshui zong typically contain either no filling or are filled with a sweet mixture, such as sweet bean paste.  They are often eaten with sugar or light syrup.

Hi Tea @ SELERA Coffee House, Klana Resort Seremban

In Seremban, there isn’t much choice or places to enjoy a decent hi-tea buffet. Normally we would either go to Klana Resort Seremban or Royale Bintang Seremban. Marcus’s birthday falls on 6th June, therefore we decided to celebrate his birthday a day earlier. In order to avoid any disappointment, we made our reservation with SELERA Coffee House.  We arrived there at about 12.30pm.

SELERA Coffee House with a capacity of 270 seats

sandwiches

Salad counter

Rojak Mamak

Sushi

Spring Rolls

Waffles with jams

Mini Pao

Porridge Counter

Mee Hoon Soup counter

The mee hoon & porridge was quite good

Colorful Jellies

Too bad there weren’t any cheese cakes served that day. Otherwise their cheesecakes are quite nice!

Assorted Malay kuihs

Black Glutinous tong sui…..very creamy & tasty

Not forgetting the ice cream and self made ais kacang which I did not include here.

baskets of cut fruits

Dinner @ Bar.B.Q Plaza, Sunway Pyramid

Everyone of us miss the meal here. That was because our last visit was quite sometime ago, till I’ve forgotten the exact period. Therefore in conjunction to Mother’s Day…we decided to have a dinner at Bar.B.Q Plaza, Sunway Pyramid. Bar.B.Q Plaza is a self-cooking Mongolian and Japanese style barbeque restaurant. The very first BarBQ Plaza is located at Ladprao, Thailand. However it has now expand over few places in KL. The outlets are at 1Utama Shopping Centre (1st branch), Sunway Pyramid Shopping centre, AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre and Berjaya Times Square, IOI Mall Puchong & Gurney Plaza, Penang.

It was just 5+pm in the evening. Yet, its already full.

huh…another queue of the day. While lining in the queue; the waitress came passing the menu and took our orders. That may save sometime rather than me doing nothing while queuing.

Bar B Gon is the mascot of Bar B Q Plaza.

The barbeque sauce: mix together chili, squeezed lime, minced garlic and sauce (special vegetarian based sauce imported weekly from Bangkok)

Use the lard to grease the hot pan before placing all the meat and seafood for grilling.

Leave the meat to cook till it turn light brown. While placing more vegetables in the soup(around the pan) will add extra sweetness & much tastier soup.

Ready to eat

As an asian, we normally have rice in our meal. Therefore we ordered Garlic Rice – RM2.50/bowl

Supreme Seafood Set – RM35.90

(Fish Fillet, Squid, Shrimp, Chicken, Jelly Fish, Scallop, Udon, Sliced Cabbage, Baby Corn, Lettuce) – suitable for 2 pax.

Korean Pork Set (limited period only) – RM39.90

Some Banchan included in the Korean Pork Set

Marinated Pork Belly – RM6.90

Som Tam with Soft Shell Crab – RM8.90 (Its like a kerabu or Thai salad)

Chicken Wings with Lemon Grass – RM7.90

Chicken Skewers – RM6.90 (taste nice..but the meat is too hard)

The feast has begun. Everyone was busy getting their hands on the food.

A meal will not complete without a dessert.

Mango Sago – RM5 (Unfortunately it doesn’t taste that good)

Food : 4/5

Price : 3/5

Ambiance : 3/5 (I much prefer the 1Utama outlet. More comfy & spacious)

Happy Birthday Vernice

Vernice, my lil lovely niece is now 2 years old. The rather playful and mischievous  girl is now able to sing, run, play and speak. Her mom, my sis planned a small birthday party among the family members. It was an early birthday celebration. Since the exact date falls on weekday, we decided to celebrate it few days earlier on weekend where everyone will be home. Vernice adores Barney, the purple dinosaur so much till her mom actually set a so-called theme based on Barney.

I requested her to pose with her toys.

I requested her to pose with her Barney stuff. She can actually understand my orders well.

She likes people to take photos of her. Each time she sees me with a camera; she will point to the camera and says “yiyi….foetoe foetoe..” After each shot; she will come back to me to view the playback.

Sis came home with a box of cupcakes with Barney figurines which she ordered from “miza mizo” with a fair price of RM50(12 chocolate cuppies). Vernice was so delighted when she sees it. With a wide smile on her face; she whispered softly ‘wah…Barneeeeyyyyyyyyy’.

The Barney party pack that we bought from Jusco.

Food prepared for the celebration.

Vernice likes popo’s fried noodle very much. Till she insisted to feed by herself.

Vernice’s Barney bowl. Each time she uses this bowl for her meal; she will say, “Barney oi oi” (Barney is asleep).

Her attention was fully diverted to the Barney program.

Hug & Kisses to popo.

Vernice distributed her Barney party hat to everyone of us and requires everyone to put it on.

Mummy; can I taste it? (sambil cubit B.J’s ear)

I’ll try Baby Bop.

Barney, Baby Bop, B.J.

The chocolate cupcake taste good!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VERNICE!! YI YI LOVES YOU!!! 😉
