Lets have coffee @ TiPsy Brew O’Coffee, Setiawalk Puchong

Alex and I planned to go for a movie at Setiawalk Puchong.

Since we were there early before the scheduled movie, so we decided to go for a drink. Moreover I needed my coffee fix! hehe…..

20130217_150113 mini mini miny mo, and we chose TiPsy Brew O’Coffee.

20130217_153351Hand painted by people of TiPsy Brew O’Coffee on how to brew siphon, hand-drip and french press. *impressive*!

20130217_150153

They also served cakes. I saw their cakes look quite good. I shall save it for my next visit! 😉

20130217_151658My Cafe Latte – RM8.90

20130217_151619His Cappuccino – RM8.90

20130217_151108Forty Licks claimed as handcrafted ice cream using only the best ingredients, with no additives or preservatives. There were several other flavors…but I chose to try Salted Caramel (RM7.20) because I heard so much from people.

20130217_151302It was a good choice of choosing salted caramel. Not overly sweet. Hint of saltiness and sweetness of caramel!

20130217_151348

“Forty Licks, because one lick just isn’t enough.”

Sorry…I lost count on how many licks I made :-p

My macho man! Wahaha…..

66107_10151368989817740_1372256739_n

Our colorful outfit of the day! 😉

Verdict : A nice place to spend your tea break. The coffee were good too. I like the ambiance and the friendly staffs. Besides beverages and cakes, they also serve food like sandwiches and noodles.

My Trip Back to Sarikei for CNY 2013

So fast CNY has over. But my mind still stuck in this festive season lar. Can’t CNY be 1 month? hehe….

HB and I often travel few days earlier before the CNY to avoid the crowd and also the expensive air fare.

734664_10151347320527740_1980988461_n

While most of my friends were at work, I say goodbye to KL. Making many of them feel envious :-p soli lor….

544427_10151347546822740_1548830264_n

We missed the cheap fare which fly directly to Sibu. Therefore we took the alternative way by going to Kuching then from there took another flight to Sibu in the late afternoon. Alex’s friend, Frankie who is in Kuching brought us here for the nice Sarawak Laksa. I also had a bowl of “Tian Miang Ngu” which look like our ‘min fun kou’ but they taste differently.

149460_10151347659132740_727051182_n

Frankie also brought us to this place selling lots of Kek Lapis (Sarawak Layer Cakes). Here, you can sample varieties of kek lapis for free. Very attractive isn’t it? But some are quite dry. I did not buy much, because Alex said MIL has ordered alot for the CNY. I still have those cakes in my fridge ler…next year kena tell MIL not to buy so much for us edi 😉

66165_10151349491927740_1823685731_n

When I reached Sarikei, what I must eat the following day is the Kampua Noodle! I do know there some people in West Malaysia prefer Wantan Mee over this. For me…I think I like both of them also la..cos they are different!

600788_10151349251937740_1276457709_nAlso not forgetting the Kolok Mee. I will never miss having both of them!

563159_10151352932177740_1950076985_n

Although Sarikei is famed for its pineapple, but I seldom eat. Too cooling for me. Trust me..the pineapples there are very sweet!

542656_10151349665587740_479975084_n

Other then pineapple, Sarikei is also famed for its pepper. Have you seen a real pepper plant? I meant before they were process. I often come back to buy their pepper. And I noticed each time I buy, the price also increased 😦

560211_10151352798157740_993487429_n

A day before eve of CNY, followed MIL to a CNY bazaar at Nyelong.

563532_10151351803037740_2046742923_n

It was a wet CNY. Luckily the rain stopped while on our way to the bazaar and I noticed this rainbow. I feel joyful each time I sees a rainbow.

32157_10151351805947740_1589792264_nBeautiful orange sky at about 7pm.

526389_10151351442447740_487768349_nHave you ever seen this kind of dish served in a fast food outlet? Yes..you can only get this from Sugarbun Sarawak! I also never fail patronizing this place whenever I return Sarikei. I seldom order the burger but will normally order the fried chicken with their special rice.

532056_10151353066612740_1594862436_n

On one afternoon, we skipped lunch and felt hungry later. So, MIL steamed these plump and meaty ‘siew mai‘.

555815_10151353585462740_1638452900_n

Family reunion dinner. Some of it are bought from restaurant and some are prepared at home. Too much of food, we couldn’t finish all.

485204_10151353701817740_620259095_nPeople were launching Kongming Deng (Sky Lantern).

69664_10151354517042740_1745442791_n

It was like a fireworks competition on eve of CNY. Watched them for free. Unfortunately I sprained my knee when I was running back home when a firework at our neighborhood went haywire. *so dangerous* 😦

149489_10151354792332740_1452928158_nAs usual, we will go friends house visiting (pai nien) on first day of CNY, after having a bowl of mee suah.

521501_10151364725407740_654898487_n

Time flies…its time for me to return to my own hometown. I traveled back on 2nd day of CNY. Beautiful sky leading my way to Sibu airport.

404944_10151356508207740_1661260883_n

Before traveling back…I want to have these for my breakfast! Kampua, pig’s liver soup and bien nuk! Will miss them for several months lu…

45309_10151367021377740_556057551_nMIL knows I like midin. She bought a few bunch for me (they are nicely wrapped in layers of newspaper) and that night we had stir fry midin (cooked with garlic, ginger & red rice wine) for dinner.

Dinner @Restaurant Tak Fok,Puchong

I must say that Puchong is a food haven. There are eateries till sometimes I couldn’t decide what to eat. ‘Big Fry (Tai Chow) is often a good choice among the Chinese especially on family dinner.

But how about ‘big fry’ + seafood? My friend, Wanyi recommended this place at Restaurant Tak Fok. She said they serve seafood (crab) with reasonable pricing. She also enlightened me about the crowd during dinner hour.

IMG_6181Just a simple and casual dining place. Often crowded on weekends.

IMG_6185We came here for the crabs. 2 pieces of crabs for just RM28. As shown on their menu, they have 13 different types of cooking method. I chose Crabs with Butter and Milk Sauce. Nice flavors and not overly creamy. Although the crab size is a lil small, with the price I’m paying…it does satisfies my crab craving.

IMG_6187Fried bun to pair with the crab’s Butter and Milk Sauce.

IMG_6188Soft bun with crispy skin. But not as good as the one I had before at South Sea Seafood Restaurant.

IMG_6182I will always order at least one vege dish. Ordered a stir fry kailan.

IMG_6183Deep Fried Mantis Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk was quite good too.

IMG_6190

We wanted Siong Tong Lala, but too bad Lala ran out of stock. So we were recommended to these Fresh Razor Clam (still in aquarium) for RM5 each. Cooked with rice wine, ginger and garlic. And also some cili padi and wolfberry.

Verdict : Looking for some good and affordable seafood, do pay a visit to Restaurant Tak Fok. Requires abit of waiting time during peak hour.

Nice Coffee @ La Roasteria Coffee, Seremban 2

I am delighted to know that there’s a decent cafe for me to tarn kopi (enjoy coffee). I meant like those in KL…aromatic coffee with pretty coffee art on it..Also, I received good reviews from some friends who had tried their coffee.

Recently I found out that they’ve opened another outlet at Seremban 2..which is nearer to my mom’s house. The main outlet is at Seremban town (Jalan Kong Sang).

La Roasteria Coffee is the name of the cafe.

Nice ambiance. Isn’t it? Its a good thing that we can have brunch or have a drink with friends in this lovely place. In Seremban, we have very limited choice of places like this. Unlike in KL, people are spoiled with choices and places for brunch.

Other than coffee, they do serve these freshly baked scones and also cakes.

I came here for brunch. So, lets order something to fill our stomach.

I wanted light coffee, so I ordered a cuppa Caffe Latte – RM7.20.

*A heart shape for me*

Bro had Cappuccino – RM7.20. Pretty coffee art right?

While mummy had Mocha – RM8.

I chose to order sandwiches. I picked Butter Croissant with Fried Wild Mushroom filling – RM9.80. Choices of bread are Butter Croissant, Ciabatta, Panini, Baguette. On menu stated, “Fried Wild Mushroom filling” is recommended. Unfortunately I find it rather dry and tasted too mild. However I do like their butter croissant. Fresh, flaky and buttery!

Creamy Chicken Mushroom Pie – RM12.80. A savory pie with chicken filling. Light, flaky and buttery pastry. Comes with creamy soup. This was good!

Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese – RM10.80 was just average.

Can’t leave without having dessert. There wasn’t much choice of cake during my visit. I chose Moist Chocolate Mud Cake – RM7.80. Indeed very moist. Rich chocolate taste too. The cake was served warm. Therefore I thought it would be perfect if they added a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the cake.

643908_10151362800647740_930814873_n

Soon after I uploaded this colorful photo collage on my FB, friends got excited and drop by La Roasteria Coffee the following day.

Verdict : Simple and nice cafe to catch up with friends and have a drink. Recommended to try their coffee and cakes!

Lunch @Fa-Ying by Rama V, Paradigm Mall

Recently there are several bloggers visited and also reviewed about this new place, at Fa-Ying by Rama V, Paradigm Mall. So I was here feeling anticipated to check out the place and also the food.

Fa-Ying by Rama V is a new concept restaurant from the multi award-winning Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine. Kuala Lumpur’s connoisseurs of fine Thai cuisine are now presenting a new modern style of enjoying Thai food in a casual chic setting.

IMG_6242

Located at the Boulevard. The setting up, the deco, the name, are so chic. Pretty attractive I guess.

The modern interior with some beautiful art sculptures on the wall.

While the smoking area(outdoor) gives you the comfy feeling of dining here. Couch and colorful cushions.

View from my seat onlooking to the bar counter. On every Wednesday, they are having Ladies Night! *Free flow of Special House Cocktail to all ladies, all day long.

Ribena Lychee – RM13, gives you the refreshing feel.

On hot weather, Lemon Juice – RM8 will be ideal to quench your thirst.

For people who like to have drink with some light coffee taste,….

I chose Latte – RM10.

An appetizing starter, Pomelo Salad with Prawn – RM16. This salad seems so fresh. Love the crunchiness of fresh prawns and vegetables. Not forgetting the juicy and not sour pomelo. Combination taste of sourish, sweet and spicy.

The tasty Fish Cake – RM12

Spaghetti with Green Curry Pesto – RM22. The flavors combines well. But I feel that the green curry taste was too mild. Its non spicy spaghetti.

When dining in Thai cuisine..I often order Tom Yam. This bowl of Tom Yam Prawn – RM16 however was quite disappointing. Soup was dilute and not rich. Doesn’t give me the ‘kick’.

Roast Duck Sandwich – RM20 was good. Its something new to me. The tiny looking fries were quite good actually. They were very crunchy.

The roast duck meat were all good. Not dry and its tasty. I wish they could put more duck meat. Hehehe…..

Not forgetting a dessert to conclude my meal. Deep Fried Mango with Vanilla Ice Cream – RM16.

Crispy batter crust with cooked glutinous rice wrapping some mango flesh. I cut them into smaller pieces and preferred to dunk it in the vanilla ice cream. The warm and cold plus crispy texture was nice!

Dim Sum @ Maju Palace Restaurant, Maju Junction Mall

“Dim Sum refers to a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates.”

Char Siew Pao and Siew Mai are the common items which people usually order.

Often the main ingredients are pork and most of us preferred the non-halal dim sum. Don’t you think so? However there’s an exceptional to this Chinese Restaurant serving Halal dim sum. To some of the Malay folks who would like to try some good Halal dim sum…Maju Palace Restaurant is a good choice.

Har Kau….. Siew Mai….

I recalls when one dine in a dim sum restaurant, a staff will be pushing a cart filled with assorted dim sum calling out ‘Har Kau….. Siew Mai….’ with sort of loud tone. At Maju Palace Restaurant, is somehow not serving that way. A list of dim sum is printed on the menu. Choose what you want to eat, and tick on the order list. Just like how you order your food at Oldtown White Coffee.

3 types of sauce to eat with dim sum.

Chef at work. Preparing some live cooking on some specialty which is not featured in the menu.

Mickey pastry? hehe…. Nolar..these are Mango+Meat Pie -RM8. Crispy crust and the filling taste is quite good.Very special… (sorry…can’t remember the exact name)

(Excuse me….no middle finger please. Be polite okay…). Braised Phoenix Chicken Feet – RM6. Not overcooked and not undercooked..just nice…and tasty too.

‘Siew Mai’ – RM7. Firm and crunchy meat texture siew mai.

Har Kau (shrimp dumplings) RM8. Fresh and crunchy prawn filling wrapped with thin wheat starch skin. The filling is quite full.

Szechuan Dumpling – RM7. Plump and juicy meat dumpling in szechuan style. The gravy has the taste of black vinegar and abit spicy.

BBQ Meat Bun – RM6. Fluffy steamed bun with tasty bbq chicken char siew filling. Of course these are served warm.

My favorite pick, Custard Bun (lau shar bao) – RM7.

The oozing creamy salted egg yolk custard! Voila…

Baked Egg Tarts – RM6.

Flaky thin crust with wobbly egg custard.

How about having some porridge here. Porridge with 3 Variety Egg – RM8. I was surprised with the serving size. Big portion. 1 bowl is sufficient for 2 person. Generous amount of 3 variety egg!

Dislike porridge??…how about this Crab Roe Noodle – RM15. Ouch….cholesterol! Crunchy egg noddle with delicious and rich flavors broth topped with generous amount of crab roe!! Ummphh….

Look! I spotted MY FM’s DJ, Royce Tan having his meal here too! ^_^

A Chinese Restaurant serving Halal dim sum which taste as good as the non-halal ones. I will definitely recommend this place to my Muslim friends. Moreover the choices of dim sum here are many.

Earlier they were having a discount of 30% for dim sum on weekends and Public Holiday. Not sure whether this promotion is available. Do give a call to check.

Dinner @ The Beer Factory, Setiawalk Puchong

Sorry for the delayed post. There are still so many enqueue post which I haven got the time to blog about it. Moreover with the photo editing.

Recently, been quite busy with work. Don’t understand why am I always busy at the same period. End and beginning of the year. I thought construction works will start to slow down when approaching Chinese New Year. But I’m always wrong.  *sien*

Earlier I did mentioned that apart from IOI Boulevard, Setiawalk has now became another happening place in Puchong. I’ve visited Sector 7, then now to The Beer Factory..both are under the same roof.

The Beer Factory’s Warzone like layout. Impressive isn’t it? Reminds me of ‘Counter Strike’ :-p

20121230_192553

Sorry, we are not Kenny’s enemy. We don’t kill Kenny. But this beer is call Kilkenny for RM15/pint before 9pm.

20121230_193148Not only Western food, but Asian food is also available here. We ordered a Claypot Lou Shu Fun (with generous amount of minced pork & an egg cracked on top of it)RM18 which I thought it quite salty and abit charred at the bottom (perhaps left unattended when cooking). *disappointed*

20121230_194141

My mom ordered Tom Yam Fried Rice (with chicken wing and egg)RM16. The rice is flavorful…with taste of tom yam. Mom also claimed that the chicken wing is nice.

20121230_194308Brother had Grilled Pork Chop (grilled marinated pork chop, drizzled with pepper corn sauce and served with mustard herb potato salad) RM28. I’ve tried it before when I was at Sector 7.

20121230_193815I made a good choice with ordering Pork Burger (served with garden salad and french fries)RM25. Big serving and delicious pork patty!

20121230_195052I dislike burger if they uses dry bun. Surprisingly the burger bun here is quite soft and not dry. Look at the juicy pork patty! Its tasty and well marinated too.

20121230_194907Come to Beer Factory before 9pm to enjoy lower price beer! I will go back for the Pork Burger. Hehehe…..

Lunch at Just Noodle, Seremban 2

I preferred noodles over rice. How about you?

I was in Seremban over the weekend. Mummy mentioned to me about this new makan place in Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. Mummy too is a noodle lover, so we head over there for our lunch. You know lar…new place..everybody will be ‘new toilet’ (hangat hangat tahi ayam) that includes us too..expected more crowd. But not till the extend, that the whole town people come lar…. LOL!

20121229_140333

Located opposite of the PKNS building.

20121229_130804Not using wallpapers..instead..a creative way, sticks all the porcelain bowls on the wall. Other than that, the lamp shades are also of porcelain bowls.

20121229_130908

Ohh….The Chinese saying…

20121229_134354Choose your preferable type of noodle. This page somehow look familiar to me. If I’m not mistaken I’ve seen it some where…some other noodle house.

20121229_131127From Left; Sea Coconut Longan & Ginseng Chrysanthemum. Both are priced RM2.70/cup. The drinks are quite concentrated. Nice.

20121229_132436

Bro’s Laksa Noodle (RM6.90) arrived so much earlier than us. He chose egg noodle. And the noodle portion was quite big. I wouldn’t say the curry broth is perfect..but just okay.

20121229_133416Sis ordered a bowl of Traditional Pan Mee (RM6.90) which I felt the soup is quite oily although its tasty.

20121229_133852Mom ordered “Char Cheong Mee” (RM6.90) using spinach noodle. Konlou noodle in spicy sauce topped with minced pork and preserved vegetables (char choy). The noodle is quite springy.

20121229_133721Well..my order was a bowl of Hakka Mee (RM6.90). The hakka mee not too bad actually. The amount of tasty minced pork cooked with fried pork lard was quite alot too.

Overall Rating (for above food) : 7/10

Unfortunately many people complained about the poor service and the mixed up orders. Understand its newly open, many of the owner’s friend came to support..but that doesn’t mean they get their food first right?

Remark: This restaurant has closed down. Thank you.

On Mummy’s Birthday………….

Speaking about western food in Seremban, there aren’t much choice. Unlike those Chinese ‘Dai Chow’ which can be find easily.

Kensington Restaurant in Seremban will often come across our mind when refer to serving decent western food with affordable pricing too. I think my Seremban folks would agreed as well. Kensington has existed for many years. It has total 2 outlets in Seremban.

On mummy’s birthday, we decided to go there for dinner. This place is often crowded over weekends, dinner and especially on festive seasons.

A pot of Peach & Passion fruit tea for RM10.

My cheeky niece insisted to shoot a photo of her.

Started off with a bowl of Cream of Mushroom Soup for RM4.30.

I ordered a Seafood Platter for RM48, enough for 3-4 eaters. This seafood platter comes with Stuffed Crabs with Cheese, Fried Prawn with Salt & Pepper, Fried Squids with Tangy Sauce, Mussels Tomato Salsa.

All the above are quite good. I especially like the Mussels Tomato Salsa (very appetizing) and Stuffed Crabs with Cheese.

A closer shot

Chicken Veronique with Grape Wine Sauce – RM16

We all love this Sizzling Chicken topped with Ham & Cheese served with Butter Cream Sauce for RM16.

Bolognaise Chicken Pasta – RM12.50

My family enjoyed the dinner.

For dessert, we had Toffee Banana with Ice Cream & Mixed Fruits RM12.

I remembered having this the very first time was during my teenage time..with my friends. Memories*

I like the toffee banana. Just like crispy pisang goreng coated with caramelized toffee.

Dinner @ Sector 7, Setiawalk Puchong

Sorry peeps, on the silent blog for the past 2 weeks. Was kinda busy.hehe…..

2 weekends ago, I was here at Setiawalk Puchong. Recently I’ve heard alot of eateries opened at Setiawalk Puchong. Often passed by the Puchong road, but only managed to have a glance at the outdoor facade. Didn’t know that actually this place does look nice and happening at night until when I came to Sector 7 for a drink and dinner as well. There are few pubs over here. Considering Sector 7 is one of them?

20121209_201515

An overview of Sector 7 at Setiawalk. Located by the man made lake.

20121209_185506

559849_10151231652562740_1273018982_n

At Sector 7, they have al fresco dining. I preferred to be seated here, enjoying my drink and meal by the lake. It was a rainy evening. The weather was quite breezy. Feels so good. I like the environment paired with music and sound of water (from the water fountain).

20121209_185438Good news for alcoholics! Come before 8pm to enjoy the cheaper beer. For Carlsberg’s beer fans, currently they are doing a promotion RM5/pint for orders before 8pm! Dirt cheap rite?

20121209_190306Well, I preferred Hoegaarden. RM15/pint.

399193_10151231688547740_564785005_n

All mine?

20121209_190416Spaghetti Carbonara – RM25

Spaghetti Carbonara with bacon and mushroom. The cream consistency was alright. Just that I find it a little bit salty. Could be due to the cheese powder.

20121209_191729

Marinated Pork Chop – RM28

Thick slab of pork! Well marinated too. 100% lean meat! Can’t finish all by myself. Too meaty already ^^

20121209_191825Bacon Lollipop – RM25 (recommended)

Highlight of the night! I like this ‘lollipop’ alot. This can be a good snack too.

Lollipop reminds me of the song by 2NE1 ft. Big Bang! Wahahaha…. :-p

20121209_193553Crispy on the outside and heavenly on the inside. Rolled bacon with cheese and tiny strip of chili! Ishh…..really sinful! Oh my gawd….
