Dinner @ See U Village Steamboat

A halal steamboat restaurant is opened at Tesco Seremban 2.

Its no usual 1 big pot of soup on each table, instead each table comes with individual built in induction cooker. I prefer this method. Its more convenient and hygienic rather than mixing everything into 1 pot to be shared among everyone at your table. Who knows may be there are some people who can’t take seafood. At least now we can have our individual pot which allows us to cook the items that we ourselves like.

Unfortunately; it ain’t serving in buffet style. Its either you order in a set of 1, 2 or 4 pax or ala carte. Since its just myself, mom & bro; therefore we ordered a set for 2 (Dumpling Combo) and added some side orders.

Types of soup and the prices. There are 5 types of soup. Only ‘chicken soup’ & ‘tom yam soup’ are free of charge. 3 of us each ordered different type of soup. Chicken soup (kinda salty), tom yam soup (the best) & herbal soup (kinda bland).

Dipping Sauce

From bottom; blended red chili, fried shallot in oil, blended green chili.

Set for 2 (Dumpling Combo) – RM33.80

I was shocked when the waiter brought this plate over our table. Does this look like a set for 2 person?? Looked more like for 1 person. Or was it just me, the big eater? Adui…paiseh la if yes. ^^

A set of 2 includes 2 piece of noodles. There are 3 types of noodles for you to choose. We chose ‘yee mee’.

We ordered an extra plates of ‘chicken roll’, ‘chicken ball’ & ‘fried fish meat’. The dumpling is included in our set.

I dump everything into my pot of tom yam soup.

CNY Family Dinner @ Han Pi Yuan, Royale Bintang Resort & Spa

As I return home on 2nd day of Chinese New Year, there were friends gathering, house visiting and not forgetting a family dinner which is the most important part.

To avoid the festive crowds in restaurants, we decided to dine at The Royale Bintang Resort & Spa. Mom gave the suggestion on Han Pi Yuan, a Chinese Restaurant after she read some good reviews from the newspaper. Apparently, Han Pi Yuan serves Halal Chinese food.

To my surprise; there were only 2 tables of guests having their meals there. Where are all the people in Seremban?? Is it because the service is bad? Too expensive? Or food is bad? Let me try it….

well lighted and looking pleasant

Well; we went for ‘Chinese New Year Menu’ package. Which consists of 9 dishes (including dessert) served for 10 pax. Moreover the price seems to be affordable too. Just RM438++ (imposed of 10% service charge & 6% government tax).

Prosperity Jellyfish & Pear Yee Sang

This dish will normally serves at the beginning of the meal. Yee Sang or Lo Hei or better known as Prosperity Toss symbolized abundance, prosperity and vigor.

“All diners at the table then stand up and on cue, proceed to toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying various “auspicious wishes” out loud, or simply “撈起, 撈起”. It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the diner’s growth in fortunes, thus diners are expected to toss enthusiastically.” (extract from wikipedia)

Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with Crabmeat

The usual shark’s fin soup. Good that this isn’t too starchy.

Roasted Chicken Shatin with Prawn Cracker

This dish is quite unique. The chick were deep fried. A credit to it because it ain’t too oily. No doubt its small, but its tasty.

Wok Fried Prawn with Spicy Sauce

The prawns size are quite big. Moreover the prawns are very fresh.

Steamed Sea Bass Fish with Quality Soya Sauce

Braised Two Varieties of Mushroom with Dried Oyster & Vegetable

Am so sorry. I was too busy eating till I forgotten to take a photo of the “Fragrant Fried Rice in Lotus Leaf”. It must be too nice till I’ve forgotten ^^

Lunch @ Xian Ding Wei

On 2nd day in Kuching, we decided to meet up Alex’s colleague, Chai whom branched in Kuching before travel back to Sarikei. Since we were at The Spring shopping mall (biggest shopping mall in Kuching), therefore Chai suggested to lunch at Xian Ding Wei, a Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant.

selecting the food from menu

cosy & comfortable place

a beautiful picture of Taipei City as background

Seafood Fried Bee Hoon (RM10.90) – A big serving of fried bee hoon with generous amount of ingredients. And its tasty too.

Oyster & Large Intestine Mee Suah (RM7.90) – Well, this is quite good actually. The taste has 70% similarity to Taiwan’s famous Ah Chung Mee Suah.

Minced Pork Sauce Noodle (7.90) – Stir the noodles & minced pork sauce before consume. The taste is good. It looks abit like konlou noodles too.

Bamboo Pumpkin in Bun (RM8.90) – The skin is made of glutinous rice flour mixed with pumpkin. Stuffed with minced pork. This is quite special to me.

Strawberry Pearl Milk Tea (RM4.90)

Honeydew Pearl Milk Tea (RM4.90)

Mixed Fruit Tea (RM5.90)

FOOD : Food wise is good. Unfortunately the drinks are so so only. Especially the milk tea. Rather too sweet I felt.

On last Saturday dated 22 January was exactly 1 year since we were in Taiwan. It was on 20 January 2010, since our trip to Taiwan together. If  I’m not mistaken, on 22 January 2010, we were at LeoFoo Village right Ashley, Wanyi??

We were there at 6+pm. As usual, its always crowded especially on weekends.

We were given a number for a table of 6. Waited for about 10 minutes till our number was called.

While waiting for Andrew to come, everyone is so hardworking to study the menu.

menu with wide selection of food (with photos to explain)

1 whole page of drinks

Lunch@ Little Penang Kafe

Wanting to have some Penang food even though you are not in Penang?

Little Penang Cafe would be a good choice. It has outlets over major shopping complexes in KL.

The business is quite good. Often sees a lot of patrons dining there.

For sure you can’t compare the price with hawker stalls. Here, you gotto pay a lil bit extra, but you can dine in a cosy environment.

The kopitiam concept

Vernice was trying to cover her face with the menu

A cardboard size menu that fits everything in. Complete with details as well.

Assam Laksa (RM10.50) – A mouth watering rice noodle dish in authentic spicy fish gravy, mint & fresh vegetables as garnishing.

Dinner @ The Ship

It was on Christmas day. In additional to that, it was Alex’s birthday as well.

Since we were at Bukit Bintang area, we decided to have our dinner at “The Ship” – claiming it as The Best Steak in Town! (but we did not make any orders on steak^^)

I thought I could drop by at 4pm to make a reservation. Unfortunately the waiter told me, there wouldn’t be any reservations considered on that day. It would be on walk-in basis. Alright. Fine. We will come again by 6.30pm then.

As we got into the restaurant, the guests were about to fill up the entire restaurant. And to my surprise; the tables were placed so close to each other. Barely a meter away. I recalled my neighbors were about a 30cm ruler apart from me. You are not allowed to speak much louder, or else you will be sharing your story to everyone next to you. “Welcome to the story telling section”.

On that day, they do offered Christmas set dinner, which I felt not really worth eating. Therefore, we opted for the ala-carte.

complimentary bun & butter

A bowl of salad upon ordering sizzling chicken

Thai Seafood Tom Yam – RM10.90

I would claimed this was the best dish for the entire meal. The rest of our orders sucks.

Sizzling Chicken Fillet – RM22.90

Tender chicken perfectly grilled and topped with gravy, served on a sizzling hot plate with french fries and a bowl of salad

-apparently the sizzling word has removed from my order. Because it came without any sizzle at all-

Seafood Platter – RM34.90

Combination of grilled king prawns, fish fillet, grilled squid, fried soft crab and fried scallop served with french fries and mini salad

-No doubt the squid is quite big. Unfortunately its not well cooked lor, the inner layer still abit raw!!!-

Apple Juice – RM6.50

Orange Juice – RM6.50

Price : Affordable

Food : Would advise please do not dine during festive season. The food quality drops alot.

Service : Moderate

Christmas Eve Dinner @ Shabu Shabu, Seremban

It was Christmas eve. No turkeys, no western food. Instead we went for Shabu Shabu which newly opened in Seremban. It would be something new for Seremban’s residents. The 1st shabu shabu I had was at Puchong.

What is Shabu Shabu? Refer here:- Shabu Shabu

Since its Christmas Eve; we may as well play save. Made reservation in advanced. Mom gave hints to dine there when she first saw the advert printed on the advertising magazine.

What I like most above it; is that it has individual soup pot. Moreover the stove for each soup pot has an adjustable flame controller. They have a few types of soup. Herbal Soup, Malat Soup, Tom Yum, Tomato Soup, ABC Soup, Chicken Stock Soup. The Chicken soup will be free of charge. However the rest will have an additional surcharge of RM2. All the soup are refillable.

The ambiance

Herbal Eggs

Assorted Noodles & Vegetables

Fresh Mussels & Scallops

Ice Cream. (the normal ones)

Assorted dipping sauce

My pot of tom yam soup. We chose herbal soup, chicken soup, malat soup and tom yum. Eventually all the soup that we’ve picked are nice.

Cook everything in the pot

The fried chicken is very nice!

Price : RM24.60/ person (Free of charge for the birthday boy/girl). I felt that the price is rather abit high for Seremban standard.

Ambiance : Looks cosy & nice. But the ventilation is kinda poor. I went home with smelly hair =_=

“I will come in RED lar”; I told Sin Wei.

The present ones were Sin Wei, Joanne, Tracy, Kristy, Siew Yen & myself.

Apparently; there’s a newly opened(few months ago) Vietnamese Restaurant in Oakland. They served Vietnamese cuisine and steamboat. Therefore Tracy suggested to try their steamboat.

Dinner@Empayar Seremban Siew Pow

Seremban is famous for its siew pow (bun with bbq pork/ chicken baked till golden brown). We are now at Empayar Seremban Siew Pow; the main branch of siew pao. Not only selling siew pow but also assorted local products. Their siew pow is well established for many years.

The siew pow and other bakeries (egg tarts, pineapple tarts, salted egg cookies, kaya kok & etc) are baked freshly everyday. Sold out fast too…especially during holidays. You may expect alot of tourists there too. Besides the siew pow, their egg tarts also is a must try item!

You may refer here for the list of products:- PRODUCTS

A huge signboard which is visible along the North South Highway.

Assorted local products

I bought 10 pieces of siew pow. Each priced at RM1.30

Too bad the content wasn’t as generous as before.

Apart from that; it does served as restaurant. Particularly on Seafood. The fishes, crabs & prawns are fresh too. What I meant fresh is that; its still alive before its cooked.

Kirin Ebi (A type of prawn reared in deep ocean and specially processed using advanced technology).

I couldn’t really differentiate the difference, but kirin ebi’s shell is much harder and the size is slim & long in shaped.

Alex and I couldn’t figure out what to order. Therefore we went ahead with their recommendation.

Sang Min with Kirin Ebi (Yee Mee in Cantonese Style) – RM15

Hakka Char Yoke (客家炸肉)  (Fried pork in Nam Yue) – RM20

Crabs cooked with salted egg – RM45/kg

We enjoyed eating the crabs. Tasty and fresh. Overall the food that we ordered were good! But I felt the price is slightly expensive.

Last Saturday I was at Sunway Pyramid. Thinking of what should I have for dinner. First thing that came across my mind was “Sushi Zanmai”. I’ve tried the food there 3 times at the same place. So far; it does not disappoint me. Honestly this is much better than Sushi King.

Unfortunately a friend of mine whom dine at Sushi Zanmai of The Garden Mall; left her with bad impression. She had a bad experienced. Dirty cutlery; poor presentation on food.

Bear in mind; please be prepared for the queue. Expected duration at least 15 minutes to be seated.

At the entrance

They claimed it as “The genuine conveyor-belt sushi Restaurant”.
