Beauty Box: Vanity Trove April Edition

I was introduced to Vanity Trove, a beauty box by my blog-sphere friend, Choi Yen. I also got tempted to give it a try by subscribing one on monthly basis. Then I thought choosing Vanity Trove would be a wise choice since they featured more brands.

However after subscribing it, I saw people blogged about the March edition. Majority of them were quite disappointed with the content that they’ve received for that particular month’s box. Then I began to worry about the April edition which I’ve just subscribed.

IMG_6567-001

Received my Vanity Trove box few days later than my friends. So many of them posted photo about their box….so, no longer a surprise to me edi lor….But its okay la…I’m happy to see people felt satisfied and happy with the April edition. So am I. Waited eagerly for mine to arrive. Still happily opening the box. LOL!!

Ohh ya…Valerie from Beauty Box is very nice to reply my queries promptly about my payment and all. ^^

IMG_6547-001

Theme for Vanity Trove April Edition is The Shower of Summer.

As usual, the contents are nicely placed in a good quality box. And its nicely wrapped with plastic too.

IMG_6571-001

Hurmm…let me study the contents. A one page leftlet were included in the box…giving a brief information about the products that we’ve received. Urm..Arm…Urmm…Arm…OK. Done reading. But not memorized :-p

IMG_6561-001

Look…An eye shadow from Kate. Nicely nestled in the box 😉

I am happy to receive an eye shadow by Kate. Been liking Kate’s eye shadow all this while. Because it has nice shimmering effect. I assumed eye shadow is a gal’s favorite. “Strawberry Shortcake” agreed on that too. *later I help you apply kay* :-p

IMG_6562-003

I received this earth tone. Suitable for every occasions. Easy application.

Kate Eyeshadow DB (RM 49 for 1.6g)

IMG_6551-001

5 sachets of Clarins Intensive Bright Serum and a 50% discount gift voucher on any face or body treatment at Clarins Skin Spa KLCC. I’ve tried using the 1st sachet. I like its texture, not sticky tough. It absorbs very quick leaving my face smooth and supple. Moreover it has nice scent but not strong. A sachet is able to use up to 3 applications (myself)

For the gift voucher…I dunno when only I will use it. Anybody wants it? I don’t mind giving out. By post express kay….hehe….

Clarins Intensive Bright Serum RM295 (30ml)

IMG_6554-001

3 sachets of Gemstone Nano Platinum Aqua Watery Cream by Oriks. Honestly…this is the first time I’m hearing this brand :-p

Gemstone Nano Platinum Aqua Watery Cream by Oriks is developed in France, product of Korea. A moisturizer that smoothens wrinkles, tightens pores and brighten your complexion. It contains more than 90 types of natural minerals to boost skin vitality and protect your skin from harsh environmental stressors. Expensive brand huh.

I’ve tried the first sachet. The cream texture is abit oily. Can’t apply too much, because I have oily T-zone.

Oriks Gemstone Nano Platinum Aqua Water Cream-RM 398 (50g)

IMG_6560-001

Woah….pretty nail wrap by Perkins. I saw people getting different designs. Ya…they are total 21 designs. Mine is with floral prints with a thin glitter strip. Feminine cum vintage. I like! But I sayang to use it..Gonna pick an auspicious day for this. LOL!

Perkins Nail Wrap is a product of Korea. It is a transparent nail wrap base that allows fuss-free sticking and creative mix and match with its wide range designs and colors.

Above is the demo on how to use the nail wrap ^_^

Perkins Nail Wrap- RM39.90 (20 Strips)

IMG_6557-001

A miniature perfume….easily for me to place this in my bag (wristlet) when I go out. However I don’t quite like the fragrant. Felt that the scent is abit strong and mature type. I actually was expecting to receive Issey Miyake’s T_T

Narciso Rodriguez For Her (EDT)-RM278 (50ml) & RM378 (100ml)

IMG_6549-001

Ohh…there’s an additional stuff in the box.A piece of Licorice & Job’s Tear Whitening Mask by KilaDoll.

I like using sheet masks…simply because they are convenient. After using then buang. LOL! BTW…this sheet mask is very cooling and your skin feel supple after that.

Conclusion : This month’s box is alot better from previous month’s..there are 2 full size items in it which cost more than the subscription fee. I also love trying Clarins product

Vanity Trove has now reduced the subscription fee to RM50. Which I previously subscribe this box for RM60. So, now got discount RM10 la hor…YAY!

Have a nice weekend everyone!!

Lunch @Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant, Midvalley Megamall

Annyeonghaseyo.

Jai Jinesseyo.

~translated as “Hello. How are you?”

I like eating Korean food. Especially Kimchi! Also the irresistible Kimchi Jigae. Just like how much I can’t say no to Tom Yam soup 😉

I thought its a good buy when I saw livingsocial was offering;

Dolsot Bibimbab (6 choices) + 3 Side Dishes + Free Flow Green Tea

for just RM10.

I grabbed 5 coupons and went together with my family over the weekend.

Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant is located at the 3rd floor of Midvalley Megamall- the cinema floor. There’s a staircase to walk up to the restaurant which is above Taiwan Recipe.

I also noticed part of the customers here were redeeming their coupon. I suppose its a good deal that you should not miss?

There were 6 choices of bibimbap(stone pot mixed rice) for us to choose from.

– Fried Beef
– Spicy Octopus
– Kimchi Chicken
– Spicy Squid
– Curry Chicken
– Curry Beef

Refillable iced green tea to quench your thirst before food is served.

I chose Kimchi Chicken Bibimbap. Korean rice served in hot stone topped with lettuce, generous amount of kimchi chicken and a beautiful sunny yolk.

3 side dishes varies daily. We got here were kimchi, water crest vegetable and radish.

This is what it look after mixing everything in the bowl. The hot stone bowl able to keep my rice warm till my last spoon. I would prefer it to be spicier…more hot sauce perhaps. hehe…..

Mummy and Marcus had Curry Chicken Bibimbap. The curry taste wasn’t tad strong..and its not spicy either. If you can’t take spicy food….no worries about their curry chicken 😉

Alex had their Curry Beef Bibimbap. The beef were thinly slice. Not tough but tasty.

Stirring the ingredients thoroughly before eating.

Michele had Spicy Octopus Bibimbap. Becos octopus is her favorite! 😉

I also added an additional Grilled Pork Platter (RM39.90). I asked the waiter to do the grilling job. hehe…..

How to eat these grilled pork? Wrapped with fresh lettuce leaves, with rice, thinly sliced garlic, ssamjang (a mixture of gochujang and dwenjang).

Whole table filled with food!!

Verdict : Overall a decent and satisfied Korean food. The only downside I felt was the restaurant abit cramp and warm.

Worth To Try Lou Shu Fun @Restoran Yi Poh, Seremban

I love lou shu fun.

I miss having lou shu fun.

Lou shu fun is my all time favorite.

*pause* I feel as though I’m describing my new boyfriend.

Please dun tell Alex about this BF. Hurmm….but I think Alex also love my bf. I’ve influenced him. LOL!

Perhaps some of you may not know what is lou shun fun.

Some people call it rat noodle.  I often call it ‘mee tikus’. I’ve just discovered an English name for lou shu fun. Eventually Wikipedia says..lou shu fun is call ‘Silver Needle Noodle’. Errrmmm….. what a name!

Seremban people like having lou shu fun. You can easily order lou shu fun at any noodle stall. Unlike in KL…most of the time they will tell me they don’t have lou shu fun. *sigh*

Friends who came over, I’ll bring them to Restoran Yi Poh. Needless to go over to the wet market although its nice and cheap…but I don’t want my friends to get disappointed because its often sold out early. (sometimes before 11am)

At Restoran Yi Poh I can have a better dining environment and most important is that the operating hours is till late noon. One can choose to dine in an air conditioned room or a non air-conditioned room.

2013-03-23 12.53.55

Simple 1 page menu. Other than their signature lou shu fun, they also serve other type of noodles as well.

2013-03-23 12.57.05

Yi Poh Lou Shu Fun – RM4.00 (S). Topped with generous minced pork and some pork slices. Stir the noodle before eating. Each strand of noodle will be coated with dark soya sauce and minced pork. What makes Yi Poh lou shu fun special is the spicy chili sambal, I guess.

Some said its similar to the noodle we had for assam laksa what..Hurmm…I think you’ll gotto try it yourself, then you’ll know the difference. *in terms of texture*

2013-03-23 12.56.40

Dislike lou shu fun, you can also try Hakka Mee – RM4.00(S). I would say their Hakka Mee is not as nice as Tow Kee’s Hakka Mee.

2013-03-23 12.57.58

Additional side order. Pork Balls (RM0.60/pc) are my favorite. Huge, bouncy and firm meat ball. Served with peppery soup.

2013-03-23 13.10.53

All wipe out! 😀

I heard that their wantan mee is quite good too. Tourist can conveniently shop for Seremban siew pao by just crossing the road. “Asia Siew Pau” is located just opposite. Freshly baked siew pao and other pastries can be purchase there. However I find that the siew pao quality at “Asia Siew Pau” are not really consistent. Sometimes nice sometimes not so nice. So far, I preferred the siew pao at Kampung Baru Rasah.

Good Food + Good Companion @T.G.I. Friday’s, Sunway Pyramid

Do you agree that good food and good companion are equally important?

I actually knew this group of friends since year 2008 through a wedding forum. Never expect we could maintain the friendship from virtual friends to good friends. Not forgetting Nicole and Vivian..just that we hardly get together at the same time.

It is not just friendship between both Ashley and Wanyi….we also get our HB to involve. Never expect our HBs can get along well too. Nevertheless, we even went for overseas trip together. Despite the hectic life…we still make some effort to have dinner or sometimes to a short trip.

On our recent meeting, we actually planned to have dinner at Itallianiese. Unfortunately Itallianiese at Sunway Pyramid has moved its business to Paradigm Mall. Therefore we had to make a sudden change of venue. With agreement from everyone, we then decided to go to T.G.I. Friday’s. Guess many of you are already familiar with T.G.I. Friday’s. 😉

The dining area.

I like how they deco the wall, with vintage stuffs.

From Left: Strawberry Lemonade Slush (RM10.90), Green Apple Slush (RM10.90), Blue Raspberry Slush (RM10.90), Cranberry Fizz (RM8.90).

All the above drinks are cold and refreshing!

They are currently having this promo of 2 course meal for RM29.90. Consist of an appetizer and a main course. *selected choice as above*. I find this a good deal. Therefore we decided to order 2 sets of this.

Appetizer A:- Fried Mozzarella (Mozzarella cheese coated in special Italian-style breading, deep fried and served with rich marinara sauce.)

Appetizer B:- Bruschetta (Toasted garlic butter Ciabatta bread topped with garlic and fresh roma tomato-basil salsa and drizzled with balsamic glaze).

Main Course A:- Chicken Fingers (Hand battered chicken tenders, golden fried and served with crispy fries and honey mustard for dipping.) The crispy battered chicken fingers are nice, the meat are tender and not dry too.

Main Course B:- Key West Whitefish (A roasted mild whitefish topped with sparkling citrus splash, served with seasonal vegetables and herb rice). Among the rest, I actually like this the most. The fish fillet was fresh, the gravy was tasty and the rice was flavorful.

Garlic Spaghetti Vegetali (add Blackened Cajun Shrimp) – RM26.90.

Spaghetti gently tossed with extra virgin oil, fresh broccoli, tomatoes, garlic, basil, Parmesan  cheese and garnished with crispy basil leaf.

Tossed Tomato Basil Chicken (RM27.90)

Sliced, chargrilled chicken breast served over linguine pasta tossed in a fresh tomato basil salsa. Garnished with zesty Balsamic glaze.

Honestly, I felt that both pastas we had here were just average. Nothing great.

Additional side order of Buffalo Wings. Juicy and succulent chicken wings were finger licking good!

Good Food + Good Companion = Good Day! ^_^

Myself, Ashley & Wanyi.

Abel was the star of the day. *center of attention*

Everyone was taking turn to carry him.

*dessert at Hui Lau Shan* Hhmmm….Abel will going to be a foodie soon. HAHA!

Wednesday is Pink Day @Baskin Robbins

Jom come in PINK and get special offer at Baskin Robbins Ice Cream. 😉

It was on Wednesday, when we decided to eat out…(we had Subway sandwich for dinner ^^)…Then I got this sudden urge of eating ice cream. I also remember the PINK Day campaign! So, I asked Alex whether can we go for Baskin Robbins ice cream later? Alex said wokay….yay!

They’ve now come out with new offer for Wednesday.

promo-big05a

The PINK Day offer. Why Pink? Because that’s Baskin Robbins color! 😉

baskin robinShow them anything in pink and you’ll be entitle to the pink day offer. I was kiasu…so, I have my pink skirt, pink handbag…and not forgetting my pink wallet too. LOL!

2013-03-27 22.00.51

Assorted flavors….I better make my quick decision. Because there were quite a number of customers.

2013-03-27 21.59.14

I was quite annoyed with this family in front of me. They took so long to place their orders. Simply because they were busy sampling most of the flavors before deciding which to choose. Hello….I know you can sample the ice cream lar…but please be considerate abit also…there are many people queuing behind one leh… *duhhh

2013-03-27 22.11.32

Happy 8 is new on their pink day offer. You can choose either waffle cone or waffle bowl. You can have 8 mini scoops of ice cream from different flavors. 4 flavors (Jamoca Almond Fudge, World Class Chocolate, Very Berry Strawberry) are already fixed by them…so, actually you’ll only get to choose another 4 flavors of your choice.

Each scoop is quite small…about 3-4cm in diameter. But you can try many flavors in a cup lor…Moreover the waffle is fresh and crunchy oso.

I wanted to add caramel sauce topping…..I asked the staff how much should I top up? She said add RM2.80..I thought its kinda expensive. So, forget it la..

2013-03-27 22.11.58

Very Berry Strawberry has bits of strawberry…very nice.

But I’m in love with Peanut Butter Chocolate, because I’m a fan of both peanut butter and chocolate. 😉

2013-03-27 22.24.52

I wanna ask Alex…whether can we come again next week…hehe…

S2 Hill Park is a new attraction

There is now a new park at Seremban 2…alternative to City Park.

It is located at S2 Heights, an extension of Seremban 2.

The existing City Park is still goodl, for outdoor activities like jogging, badminton, basketball, kite flying. However the children playground is kinda small with minimal numbers of playground equipments.

Unlike here at Hill Park, they provide more playground equipments. Children will love this place. Its a nice place for family outing and also exercise.

On one fine evening, I decided to bring my lovely niece here. Another reason was because I want to go see dinosaurs. Ya…..I’m serious and I meant dinosaurs 😀

Reason why I said this is a good exercising place. All cars are required to park their vehicle down hill and walk all the way up the hill. Quite far also le…If I’m not mistaken I think we took about 15 minutes to reach the park. Luckily my niece did not complain. *phew…

Probably on special cases like you come together with senior citizens..is excusable to drive up I guess.

While we were walking…..saw a partial rainbow on the sky. Not really visible though. *sings* somewhere over the rainbow…way up high…

Yay! We finally reach the park la….*deep breath*

This park has opened for almost 2 months. So, the place is still clean and everything is still in good condition. Hope they will maintain the place.

Well Malaysians attitude…never bother to take good care of public stuffs.

Families of all races having a good time here.

1st stop. Dunno why my niece loves cars so much. If we were to go to an amusement park, she actually requested to play Daytona car racing game. @_@

Spacious park with tall trees.

Right or Left?

Look how my niece walks. Like a ‘tai ka jeh’ (big sister).. haha…

She had fun!

They also provide ‘flying fox’ for children above 12 years old. But my 4 year old niece telling her mummy she wants to play too…. @_@

Ta Daahhh….These are the dinosaurs that I mentioned lah…Haha..

Above are Triceratops and Stegosaurus.

Are you afraid of T Rex and Albertosaurus? Don’t worry…they are all fenced up. You can’t get close to them either.

How about Brachiosaurus?

A mini Jurassic Park! ^_^

They also provide spacious pondok (hut). So, you can have picnic here lor?

My niece. She is very talkative and bright kid.

Other than the hilltop view, breezy air… you can also view the beautiful sunset here.

A new and nice place to spend with family and friends on weekends.

Dinner @Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw, SS15 Subang Jaya

With saving up to 52%, I get to enjoy Single Beef Baconizer and Single Chicken Turkeynizer for just RM5! What a steal. Thanks to the discounted deal on Living Social. I’ve heard about people giving positive reviews on their burger. Therefore this is a good chance to join in the  burger craze. Currently there are 7 outlets in Klang Valley.

Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw founded in April 2011 by two young Malaysian entrepreneurs, Mohd Faizul Baharudin and Nini Haznita Muhammad.

20130310_201031

The main branch is located at Seksyen 2, Wangsa Maju. At SS15, it is the only Diner Restaurant. While the other 6 outlets are just burger stall or street kiosk.

20130310_201445

Just like other fast food joints…self service. But this is slightly different. You place and pay your order. Get your number, as printed on the receipt and wait for your number to be call. Although there were many customers, but we did not wait too long for our food to be ready. Ermm….if I’m not mistaken, it was not more than 15minutes. Its an open kitchen..you can probably watch how they prepare the burgers. Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw claimed making homemade patty by themselves and not the frozen patty sold in the supermarkets. So, I assumed the freshness is there.

20130310_201829

Add on soft drinks

20130310_201840

And also fries with cheesy cream + mayonnaise.

20130310_201904

Alex had Single Beef Baconizer. Alex said the beef patty was good.

20130310_201945

I had Single Chicken Turkeynizer. I like my burger. Thick, crispy and succulent fried chicken fillet with turkey slice, lettuce, a slice of cheese and dressing. Ohh ya, the bread was not dry too.

20130310_202021I felt the burger here are quite good. Judging the portion, I would say the price is not expensive. A single patty is more than enough for me. Really full after eating together with the fries and a drink.

20130310_202727

Eat burger is more shiok to hold with both of your hands right. But how to handle big stack burger? I don’t want to open my mouth as huge as an alligator or getting messy. Do share your way of eating burger 😉

New to “Bag of Love”~Debut Bag

Recently there are a numbers of Beauty Boxes available for subscription. They all come with a minimal monthly subscription fee. But what you get in box would be quite mysterious. You will only know the content after you unbox it. *I like surprises*

Hence, Bag of Love is doing the same thing. The main difference is that the contents are placed in a bag rather than a box. Bag of Love is something new to me. It arrived since March and therefore they had this bag call “Debut Bag”.

This is my first subscription. I actually got attracted by the bag when they posted a teaser photo of the bag on their Facebook page. I thought if someone would to put effort on the look of its bag, I assumed the content wouldn’t be disappointing too.

Received my parcel within a week after purchase. My box was in a good condition. So, I can recycle it for other usage. Many complained about their rip off or dented box after opening the parcel. Probably they need to change the courier service. However I wouldn’t bother much about the ripping off box…as long as the bag and content inside are in good condition. Right?

This is the look of the bag which I’ve mentioned above. I can use the bag to keep my make up stuffs or storing my skincare products when I go for travel. Look alike Victoria Secret’s color. *LIKE*

All 5 products are nicely placed in a bubble wrap for better protection.

As promised; “With a subscription, you get a beautiful bag of 5 deluxe sample-size beauty products – ranging from hair care to skincare, body care, make up, nails and fragrances – delivered to your doorstep monthly so you get to sample the products before buying it. “

A thank you card together with cute Mi Mi from Bag of Love. At the back of this card, its the brief explanation on each product in the bag.

Mi Mi also promised each and every month, she will come up with a different bag design. I guess…that is why they are named ‘Bag of Love’. You know what….I like bags…no matter how many I have. LOL!

There are more………….RM30 Gift Voucher on Murad products and also a complimentary movie pass to watch “The Host” which will be screening on beginning of April.

Murad Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser, 150ml, RM148

Use 2 pumps on damp face. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Here, I got a deluxe size of 50ml. This cleanser came at the right time! As I am about to replenish my finishing cleanser. I’ve heard alot of good reviews about Murad. Now I get to experience it!

Revlon Professional Color Sublime Treatment, 200ml, RM88

How to use: Coat hair from roots to tips after shampooing. Leave on for 5 minutes then rinse.

Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation SPF20/PA++, 10.5g, RM140

Comes in 6 shades. I usually choose liquid foundation over powder foundation. That is because powder foundation often gave me this powdery or uneven face. However there is an exception to Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation by Kanebo. It able to control my T-zone area which often oily, shin free look for long hours. I applied 2 layers for a better coverage. Furthermore the powder texture is very smooth.

Definite Face Blending Brush, RM98

How to use:For a great finishing touch, sweep a loose powder over face with this brush.

WOW! I am so happy to actually receive a full size brush from the well known Definite Cosmetic! It is a good quality brush. Swipe over your face and you can actually feel that its very soft and not rough at all.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire EDT, 50ml, RM248

A sample size of EDT by Guerlain. The bottle is quite nice hor…

This is an EDT. So, do not expect the smell will last long hours. But I do like the scent of it. Not too strong and very lady like scent.

Conclusion : This is my first time experiencing brands like Kanebo, Murad, Benefit and Guerlain. For just paying RM39.90, but I am getting content worth more than RM100 and I get to try all these popular brands. I’m quite satisfied with the debut bag. I wish Bag of Love could remain its quality assurance and bring us more good brands. Especially on giving out deluxe or full sizes. 😉

What is the price? (all inclusive postage)

Monthly – RM39.90/ month

Quarterly – RM119.70 (for 3 months)

Annually – RM478.80 (for 12 months and get the following 1 month for free)

Mr. Roti Canai @Putra Heights, Subang

Been staying here for more than a year also didn’t know about this place.

Until one day, when having a chat with Shaun of Simple Life he then told me about this place, Mr. Roti Canai. Claiming the roti canai is good. He also said its located very near to where I live. True indeed…it only took about 5 minutes drive there.

So, I passed the words to Alex and suggested to go there for dinner.

Other then roti canai, they also serve other food like nasi lemak, nasi briyani and nasi kandar. Have not tried others…but I think I still prefer the roti canai from a mamak stall. hehe….

“I Love You” Egg

The other day I did a google search on interesting ways to make hard boiled egg. Out of fun and curiosity…I thought making a ‘heart’ shaped egg would be nice.

I stumbled upon this web, she teaches how to make a heart shape egg with clear guidelines. Her photos shows each and every steps…so you will have a clearer picture on how it should be done.

She also provide the dimensions of the cardboard. Silly me..I wasn’t aware of it. When I place the egg on the cardboard…it was way too big. Therefore I cut it into half. LOL!

2013-03-20_10.59.48

I boiled the Medium size egg for 15 minutes.

My version of “I Love You” Egg ♥ Nice or not? 😉

Click on Anna The Red’s web to learn the steps. Its pretty simple. I also can do it…I’m sure you can too…

Do check out the pretty bento that she has made. I’m impressed! She’s really creative and artistic.

I decided to cook Shrimp Aglio Olio for dinner yesterday. I also prepared a salad adding my “I Love You” egg. My salad look so cheerful leh..

IMG_20130320_110615

My 1st attempt on Aglio Olio after reading several recipes and did my own adjustment. How does it look? Ok ma? Hmm…I think I’ll rate it 8/10 (still need a lil improvement in future). Although aglio olio may look simple…but it tested my ‘kung fu’ le…

Tips: To add sufficient olive oil, salt and water (I use ikan bilis stock or you can use pasta water) so that the spaghetti won’t be too dry.

to live to love to learn
